I give this place 4 stars only because it's the best AYCE option in the valley. If it was in K-town, I would give them 3. It was $22 for lunch and they have good options to chose from. - The black pepper boneless short rib was my favorite. It's marinated but the pepper offsets the sweetness a little. The meat is nicely marbled and super tender once cooked - The brisket was a little thicker than I'm used to but it was still good. - Shrimp was meh. Just previously frozen thawed plain shrimp. Did not order a second round - Boneless short rib: Very good and tender. Marinade is a pretty sweet though - Sausage and kimchee: I guess I was expecting a pork and kimchee ground together sausage but I should have paid closer attention to the description since it did say it's kielbasa with kimchee. It's just sliced kielbasa tossed with kimchee. I'll pass on it next time - Spicy baby octopus: Good - Soft tofu soup: This was very good and I don't usually like tofu soup - Pork belly: Thick cut and was good. Regret not ordering the spicy version. Next time! Service was great but we were missing kimchee and rice paper (wider/bigger/thicker than usual) when first sat down. Had to request it and when we asked for more sprouts and greens after running out, they brought much bigger portions of it which I appreciated :) Parking was a breeze due to the surface lot and being able to add yourself on the waiting list via Yelp was a pleasant bonus! By far the best kbbq I've had in CA. The wide selection of meat and appetizers is unbeatable and such competitive pricing you can't beat. It can get pretty busy so I suggest you call before coming because I will drive an hour to eat here anytime. I recommend trying everything because none of it will disappoint. My favorites were the fried rice, gyoza, bugolgi, chicken, and beef tongue. Cant wait to be back. read more

A lot has changed here, change can be good or not so good. We were sat pretty quickly, got in about 7:15pm on Tuesday so it wasn't very busy, though an hour later it was bustling. The new staff seemed to forgot to give us beer glasses or the bowls magkeoli is traditionally served in in Koreatown, point is we had to hunt someone down to get containers. We requested sesame oil and the sweet Jalapeño soy sauce and both were brought in a large container, we then had to request three smaller containers as there were three of us dining. It just seemed as if we were a bother or were animals feeding from a trough. We all agreed that this was not a good experience and we discussed going back as we have had good experiences. Throughout all this we had a great time as the commaraderie was awesome, jokes were made, laughs were broadcasted and good times were had. Since writing my first review a couple of months ago, my family and I have been here at least 10 times. I had to update my review reiterating how awesome this place is! The service is excellent, the place is clean and the food is delicious! We love that they automatically change the griddle top almost every 15 minutes, our food is always fresh and tasty. This place is about 30-45 minutes away from me (depending on the 101 and 405 traffic) but it's totally worth driving to AYCE than to drive 10 minutes to a Korean restaurant in Northridge. We recently discovered that we can get fresh raw sliced jalapenos, garlic and onions to cook on the griddle and add to our meat for additional fresh flavors. So good!! I love Korean BBQ and I love a good deal. Fortunately, AYCE Gogi is both, with the added bonus of a funny name, which is honestly what got me to try it the first place. Clearly got me suckered into the joint, which caters well to big groups of carnivores. Compared to other establishments in the area, it's probably safe to suggest AYCE Gogi is less authentic than the rest. The place isn't bustling with Koreans or is smack dab in KTown. In addition the all-English menu doesn't include a lot of traditional Korean options or meat cuts.. I came here the first time when the AYCE was $17.95 a person for lunch and $22.95 for dinner, along with the express lunch at $12.95. Now the prices are $20.95 for lunch and $25.95 for dinner and $14.95 for express lunch. The recent inflation was bound to happen; it's kind of hard to maintain those prices and so much demand. Their selection of food is fairly decent overall, with a solid variety of chicken, pork, beef, seafood, and "house specialties" in the form of soups, rice dishes, and noodles. The standouts for me are their bulgolgi, brisket, kalbi, pork belly and tongue. I wish there was skirt steak and other more premium meats available, but that's just the way it rolls. Service is okay. Like most places, they have their good and bad days. I try to come here when it's not as busy but sometimes there is a wait. When there is, that's the best time to indulge in their arcade games (genius!). The parking is plentiful and eat times cannot go beyond 2 hours. read more

Amazing Korean BBQ spot located in the San Fernando Valley. The restuarant has an excellent staff. Super helpful and outgoing. The place is always nice and clean with someone anyways wiping things down. They have a bar in the very back of the restuarant with 80's style arcade games which is awesome. The food is delicious, they give you good quality meats with generous portions. The employees also charge the grill plates constantly so the inside of the building is not full of smoke. Newly expanded AYCE Gogi just got better. I have come here a good amount of times. I never have an issue with parking. It looks packed but I can always find one ASAP. Today I parked directly in front. Seriously, be smart, use the yelp app to your advantage and join the waitlist before you get here. We have saved an hour of mindless waiting just by doing so. The pin ball machines in the waiting room are so fun, however, please add a change maker!!! Also, there's plenty of seats if you are going to wait now that it's been expanded. I have always thought the atmosphere was always comfy with some viewable TVs...but I do hate sitting in the middle where the tables are vertical. I feel like I'm on a platform for everyone to stare at. Now that's it's been expanded I feel like the staff is on fire. I always get everything I ask for, and it's super speedy. They always make sure to keep an eye on the grill, and change it for me without me asking. My husband appreciates the generous amount of rice paper they give usually but today they ran out, and have cut him off in the past. (Some KBBQ are stingy with rice paper) Bulgogi and steak is my favorite as well as the chicken fried rice. I've tried they're miso soup, but my favorite is the dumpling soup. Super tasty. The sides at the start are super skimpy but you can always ask for more which sometimes they bring out a huge amount. I enjoy the pickled cucumbers and potato salad. I love coming here to eat it's the closest kkbq place near me. I came on Thursday to eat here and the server were so great accommodated us well! The other time I came here I did have an issue, this is the second time I've seen this. I came here last Friday and I saw an employee drinking on the job, I'm sure it was the manager since he was the only one wearing a collard shirt. He was sitting down with a couple for quite some time and was taking shots of solju. I thought maybe he was off the clock but I notice he went back to work. The first time I came I don't recall the day but I saw the same thing and I thought it was just a customer but, realized he was wearing a mic. I stopped into AYCE Gogi today with my family because the food is amazing, a few menu items I don't really care for but for the most part the food is really, really good. My waitress was initially distant, not very personable, and a bit indifferent, almost rude. I brushed off her attitude mostly because I didn't know what type of day she was having or what she was going through, we are only human and we all have our off days. This review isn't about her, however, it is about Mason. We first met Mason when he came over and switched out our grill for us, he was very sweet and his energy just flowed beautifully from him. He spoke to us, mostly small talk, very warmly and asked about my kids and made jokes with us at the table. When he walked away from us we all immediately praised him for having such a positive and upbeat demeanor. Throughout our stay he checked in with us and changed our grill a few times, all while engaging in pleasant conversations and making jokes, he even took a picture with my boyfriend! He was also very knowledgeable. I was surprised to learn he wasn't part of management. He even brought us our check. Amazing all our around I hope the next time we eat at AYCE gogi we have the opportunity to have Mason take care of us. PS. The ambiance is great!! read more

Came here for a birthday for the first time in a couple years. The food and service is as good as I remember. One of the worst things you can run into at an AYCE KBBQ is the staff intentionally ignoring you so you don't order more food. Why even operate this kind of business at that point? AYCE Gogi was and still is really good about that. The servers will consistently come back and ask you what's next before your grill is even empty. When I was 17 mins away, I tried to put my name down on Yelp's waitlist. Yelp claimed there was no wait. When we arrived, there was a crowd in front of the restaurant. When we put our name down, there were 14 parties ahead of us.... and when I was texted that my table was ready, yelp said I still had 3 parties ahead of me. I must confess that I do not eat red meat, so for like-minded people, this one's for you. The shrimp fried rice was probably the best thing I tried. It could've used more salt but I liked the abundance of flavors melding into one. The corn cheese came with the cheese unmelted! They put it on the grill to melt and it took forever! And when I tasted it, it was awful. Did not taste like corn cheese at all! It was just corn, mozzarella, and something that tasted a little sour. The jap chae was not on the menu, but could be ordered (as were the mushrooms, but I didn't get them). Jap chae was so bland. It tasted only of oil. It lacked it's signature and slightly sweet flavor. I had to send it back as not to get charged extra for leftover food. The steamed egg was basically egg water. When I scooped it off my plate, it left a puddle of water behind. I did like that they had chicken breast. Most kbbq places only have dark meat. Shout out to Matthew. Exceptional service! read more

Legit AYCE kbbq in what appears to be an unremarkable plaza. Plenty of parking! Dinner starts at 3pm and is $22.95 if you go the AYCE route. Yes, you have the option to order a la carte, but why!? No call buttons, but the place is very open and medium in size. Servers are constantly coming around to check on you especially to see if you need another order. I love how they offer the classic slices of meat, but also have them in various marinated forms. I took a strong liking to the black pepper beef and mesquite pork. Other unique options include shumai, fried dumplings, pancake, and tempura as appetizers. Lots of booth seating on the side of the restaurant, but larger seating available in the middle. Grill system is very basic, but I found it to be a hazard at times. Periodically, I would bump my knee against the grill fixture from under the table! It was HOT and definitely capable of burning me!
