I went to this place cause i used to go to spikes, and frankly is not much like the original was, the fact that is take out only doesn't help ,but it did not taste like it did back then,the cabbage was salty ,the chicken tasted like it's been treated with some flavorings and the meat was bigger than it used to. I've been going here for years. Yesterday was the last time. I ordered a curried chicken bowl PLUS an extra order of curried chicken which was served in a separate bowl. Guess what? Little shreds of chicken in the extra order (1/2 pint) and the main order? ZERO CHICKEN. Very disappointing. Seems like they've had a large employee turn over lately because staff seemed confused. I come to this place fairly often with my family and there's always one time or another where a cashier here is having an attitude. I came here today starting off with a pleasant attitude, and I left with indifference as to whether or not I'd even come back with this customer service experience. The cashier who was on between 6:45PM-7:30PM (the bottom of the receipt said, "Lucero") was extremely impatient and rude as I was in the prepress of deciding what to order, and how to pay. This worker needs a serious attitude adjustment, before a customer may be pushed to do so themselves. I hope the management sees this, and reprimands the employee and demonstrates to them what proper customer service looks like and should feel like. read more

Their chicken has gotten super dry, and their cabbage smells like dishes or dish water. This place is delicious!!! Before my food restrictive diet, i use to get the asian chicken salad ...that salad is not only big (even the small one is big!) But it's so addictive. It's sweet, tangy, crunchy, tender, and everything you want in a salad. Unfortunately, i think the dressing probably has sugar in it. Now, i have to get basic things such as grilled meats with no sauces, but they're always very understanding and accommodating. Their staff is always very kind and patient when i'm explaining what I'd like and the food is always delicious. They have a very fast environment and always work efficiently. It's embarrassing to admit but teriyaki chicken involving bottled sauce is a mainstay in my cooking repertoire. Even with my frequent consumption of homemade teriyaki chicken, I truly look forward to teriyaki chicken meals at B-Man's. Skip the curry, skip the beef, and hone in on the chicken and spam. The plate meals are really huge. It's rare that John and I are able to split one entree for a meal but when we assessed our chicken plates from B'Man's we both agreed sharing would be utterly doable. In fact, one plate is good for 2.5 meals. You can opt for a free upgrade to brown rice, which I love doing because it is nicely cooked and soft and nutty. The chicken is delicious - heavily marinated, grilled, and sliced chicken thighs. I much prefer the quality of chicken to the dry, nuggets of chicken that a lot of other places tend to serve. They douse everything with their sticky sweet teriyaki sauce. Macaroni salad comes with, in the form of overly cooked pasta with celery and a mayo sauce redolent in onion juice. The tsukemono cabbage salad was inedible because it was overly salted. Also worth getting is the Spam Musubi. They do it really well. They actually grill the spam and I love the crusty grill marks and they put just the right amount of sauce. Now, to find out whether the burgers are any good..... read more

And, while I'd never review a place like Yoshinoya (except in Japan maybe), B-man's offers a variety you can't find at other teriyaki express places. Take, for instance, the tofu skewers with green onions... or the katsu bowls... The mahi mahi bowl is a good option as are the garlic shrimp. The sheer popularity is a testament to its no nonsense practices. So, come and enjoy. I doubt you'll be disappointed. However, bear in mind I'd still consider it the slow-fast food style. Came here for dinner Friday night. Yes, I stayed in Friday night. I was chained to the bed and couldn't go anywhere. No but really, I actually was TIED to the bed and couldn't go anywhere.... The God honest truth (and you should always be honest with/to God, because hey, He knows ANYWAY), my brother and sister-in-law, and her dog were flying in to LAX at 10, which kind of prevented me from being able to go out because I didn't want to go out and then have to leave early. But as I was running through the list of small, local, cheap, easy places to go to for dinner, this was pretty easy to decide on. I went around 7:30-8 and the place was about 80% full. I told you this place is never empty. I ordered the double ABC burger (double cheeseburger with their signature teriyaki sauce and avocado) and 2 spam musubis. Food came out in a decent time, but it usually does. I didn't have to bitchify anyone. But again, I never have to. The only thing I don't like about the burger is that is comes in a tiny ass styrofoam container and with the teriyaki sauce, it can get kind of messy and yeah, I'd rather concentrate on enjoying my burger instead of worrying about getting teriyaki sauce all over the table and the floor/carpet. And the sheet of paper they give you isn't any help because by the time you get it, it's swimming in the sauce and its useless as a teriyaki barrier. Recently came back and ordered the Curry Fries (it`s a must!), spam musubi, and the Garlic Shrimp bowl. Curry fries were delicious as always. Spam musubi was super cheap!! Only $1 and some change! The Garlic Shrimp bowl took a while to cook, the girl told us that for some reason, instead of 5 shrimps on the grill, there was only 3 so it would take a bit longer wait than usual, but she compensated by adding extra shrimps for us! The boyfriend and I went here tonight with our friend...and ehh.. we probably wont be going back. I got the chicken katsu, it was pretty disappointing. Why's everyone talking about "huge portions?" I had about 6 small slices of chicken, and then the rest was rice. Ok, i guess there was a lot of rice... but for $6? Yeah i dont think so. It's as basic and dry as chicken katsu can get. Stringy.. tasteless... the sauce was pretty disgusting, it was thick and tasted mostly of cloves. Like Arby's sauce gone horribly wrong. The rice was, well, rice. What do you say about rice? It was what it was. We also got the chili fries. They were ok.. the chili actually had nice pieces of chicken in it, but as far as seasonings go, there was too much chili powder. The boyfriend ordered a curry bowl, to me it looked like a bowl of gravy puke, but he seemed to really enjoy it. He said the curry wasnt overwhelming. Our friend ordered the teriyaki burger, and teriyaki fries. He didnt end up finishing his fries, too much salty teriyaki sauce i gather. Although he did finish his burger. Like so many others, I adore B-Man's. In fact, at one point I regretted taking a job outside of Pasadena because it meant that I had to go 10 weeks without eating there. Bacon, avocado and teriyaki sounds like the most disgusting combination on earth but believe me when I say, "I once felt as you do, young Grasshopper, but one bite of B-Man's ABC burger will change your mind forever." I always get the #3 Meal, which is a great deal. It's practically two meals in one (a tip: don't save the burger for later because it becomes really soggy and difficult to eat. they also don't reheat very well due to the avocado getting nasty). You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, though. 1 star off because, although curry chicken sounds delicious and curry fries are just the greatest idea ever, it's just not spicy enough for me. 4 stars for a Hawaiian barbeque type place, but only 3 stars compared to everything because I'm not a huge lover of Hawaiian barbeque. B-Man's is in the How's plaza on Huntington, next to Starbucks, Subway, and Half and Half. It's an order and go type place, the sit-down area is what you would expect at a fast food joint. The spam musubi is good and under $2, the Portugese sausage musubi is a bit sweeter. Ever since high school, I've only gotten plates here. They're big, but not unconquerable. It only looks huge because they give a ton of rice, the amount of meat is just right. --Teriyaki Chicken is yummy, well-cooked (not dry), and always comes DRENCHED in sauce. It's pretty sweet, so I like adding soy sauce to the whole thing and mixing it up with the rice. --the Teriyaki combo plate rocks! You get the aforementioned chicken and also thinly sliced beef, again, drenched in sauce. --the Short Rib plate is pretty good, but I wouldn't come here if I wanted good Kalbi...It's fine but it's not that flavorful or tender, plus since it's not drenched in sauce, it gets a bit dry for me with all the rice they give --Chicken Katsu Curry is okay. The fried breading of the katsu obviously gets soggy in the curry, so it's kind of pointless. Plus, I don't love Japanese-style curry (where it's really thick and gooey). I prefer Thai curry and Indian curry. Overall, B-man's has always been a reliable place to get quick Hawaiian barbeque and Teriyaki, but it's not something I crave. read more
