We've wanted to try the one over in Red Bank, but we were at the Aquarium and decided to swing by here, glad we did! This is a surprisingly big spot than it looks on the outside. We parked on the street in front, not sure if there is more parking behind it. They have a couple levels I believe we sat downstairs. The service was great all around, I guess they take reservations for lunch too and I was worried we may not get a seat because it was definitely busy, but we did. So call ahead maybe. The food was excellent, the burger was a little more than medium but not bad and very very good. The fries, holy crap, SOOOO GOOD! If you get nothing else get the fries. The fried chicken sandwich was also excellent, my wife and I both thought maybe it could've used a bit more heat but that is our personal preference. The kids pasta was nothing fancy, but they destroyed it. Great beer list with mostly local or microbrews and I love that. The rest of the food we saw come out all looked great. B2 is my local spot for a night out, some quick cocktails and apps, or to host my charity events upstairs in their private room. The decor is modern, the menu is full of great items from burgers to sushi to full entrees, and the staff are amazing. I host my charity fundraiser here every year and they are so accommodating to anything that we need. They tailor our menu to how we want it structured, they do all the work for us in setting up the room and awesome outdoor patio, and everyone leaves here year after year raving about the food and the drinks. And more importantly for me, they can't wait to come back the next year. I recommend B2 for a date night out, a quick bite at the bar, or for private parties. You won't be disappointed!! read more

First time here. We ate up on the roof to be a little more comfortable with what's going on with the pandemic. The tables were nicely spaced. I believe they only had two heaters up there and at first we were sat away from one of them. Upon our request to be closer to a heat lamp they obliged. Our cocktails were great. We went out and met my brother and Sue at B2 Bistro + Bar at their sister restaurant in Point Pleasant. The place was nicely crowded due mainly to an Indian Summer evening. Jamie, our assigned server, was capable and cheerful. We shared the Butternut Squash Hummus with its seasonal veggies, olives and lightly toasted naan. If you dine here, I strongly recommend this appy. There is a full bar menu with many of the popular concoctions available. We also shared 2appys for our main course: a jumbo lump crab cake with apple slaw and charred octopus, with a cauliflower/potato mix. Both hit the spot. Prior to dessert, we spoke with Amanda, one of the managers here. She spent some time conversing with us. They are thinking on putting in valet service in the future, due to the dearth of available parking. Dessert was a very good Bourbon rice pudding "cake". If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered Sushi for delivery. First it was an hour wait, then they texted me to say it would be another hour. It was even later. I was told their sushi is good - I don't care how good it is, it isn't worth a 2 hour wait. On top of that when I called they told me it was because I used GrubHub - yet they still took my order!? When I asked why they do that the person on the phone was abrupt and rude. If management are not capable of providing a service they shouldn't offer it. I've been waiting for this place (the old 709) to open & was excited to hear it was to be B2 Bistro. I LOVE the place in Red Bank. We finally stopped in with a group of 6. The décor was much more rustic than 709 was & they added a private room with barn doors. I love the look. Being spoiled by the beer available at the RB location I expected somewhat of the same here. I was very disappointed. They had a few craft beers (maybe 6) & had them listed on the menu by brewery with no description or name of the beers. After sitting quite some time waiting for our server to even inquire about the beer, he came over & advised he would be back in a few minutes. When he returned in QUITE a few minutes he had no clue whatsoever what the beers were. We had to wait yet again while he tried to get some info from the bar. Now mind you, I understand on a busy day things can get crazy, but the 6 of us were seated at a large table in the rear of the place & we had the place to ourselves. The hostess, manager or whoever she was walked by us several times never saying a word. Our waiter returned & we finally made our beer selections. I might add, one of the couples in our group had been previously sitting at the bar & had said the service had been great there. We probably had to wait about a half an hour to order & probably an hour to actually get our food. I ordered the Poke bowl, which was pretty good, but it was a ridiculously long time coming for the lack of a crowd. I am a local and I loved this place with the sushi and the menu has multiple items to choose from. I am disappointed in the way my wife and her friend were treated Friday night. My wife had friend come in to town and she recommended B2's. They sat down at 3:30 and had some appetizers and drinks safe to say the bill at the end of everything was about $130 for 2 people. Around 6:30 the manager came up to my wife and basically said "you have been here over the maximum stay of 2 .5 hours" ..the table was reserved for someone. My wife was mortified and embarrassed by the lack of decision making of the manager and the general manager. Find another table ! Here is an idea DON'T give reservations on Friday night , your place is full every Friday night anyway and don't time people as they try to enjoy dinner and de- stress from the week. I like B2's and I am going to try and get my wife to go back ----but this is no way to treat a "local' like us or anyone else. Wait. That's what I say you should do. B2 has been open about 2 weeks now and I feel they have a lot of issues to work out before they rise to the restaurant I believe they will be. Judging by its sister restaurant in Red Bank the potential is there. The newly renovated restaurant looks great and I thought the move of the sushi bar to the kitchen was good. It took up a lot of room. Like in Red Bank they have included more craft beers to their tap list; but not as extensive. The don't have a separate beer menu yet but they list beers on the cocktail menu. That would be fine but they only list the breweries and not the beer, forcing us to ask our server. Unfortunately he had no idea but was able to get a list. Our server was very nice but seemed inexperienced. I asked him for the WiFi password but never got back to me with it; no big deal. We waited a long time to be served. Drinks took forever. We (6 of us) happened to be seated near the kitchen window. I noticed a big plate of nachos waiting to be picked up. Looked good. I also happened to glance at my watch. Occasionally I'd look over and the nachos were still there. After 13 minutes a waiter finally picked them up. I fully expected them to be returned but somebody must have eaten them cold. I decided on getting a pizza but was told the oven was down. Not until next week. Ok let me get the burger. The burger was good but for $16 ($15 happy hour, big deal) it came on a tasteless bun and the fries were soggy; obviously cooked ahead of time. We shared the mussels. I also really enjoyed their Bayville location and I'll call out some comparisons. We met another couple from out of town for drinks and appetizers. The bar and surrounding high tops were mostly empty on a Friday in the summer just after labor day at 4:30. That was surprising. They didn't have any happy hour thing going on and if they did, no one told us. Again, surprising. (They do have a happy hour 4/6 only at the bar). The wait staff was friendly, the drinks were on point around $10-13 each and the apps delivered fast. We ordered buffalo chicken wings a few days earlier in Bayville that were awesome and I was thinking I needed a repeat but these were no where near as good. With all the hype this place has in the area we finally decided to give it a try. We came on a Friday night and although online reservations were plentiful and available the hostess had informed us that they were busy and we had to wait. The hostess began to get very overwhelmed and seemed to not know a lot or how to run things smoothly and informed us that even though multiple tables and booths were open we would have to wait because they had reservations coming in an hour and half. So we waited about 10-15 minutes and then they finally decided to sit us at the same booth we asked for originally. I guess the problem is they don't sit people for 2 hours before a reservation so they leave tables open for the duration before a reservation which seems kinda backwards but whatever. We started off with a couple of appetizers which were all very good. The pretzel was delicious and super fresh. We also started with a pizza and that was also very good. Then for our entrees my husband had the burger and I had the short rib. Both entrees were awesome. Food was delicious and beyond any expectations we had. Prices are definitely a little steep but for the area it's expected. We decided to finish off with one of their signature desserts unfortunately it was undercooked and raw so we sent it back and decided to leave on a good note of the entrees. Overall I would of rated this place higher if the front of house seemed more organized and prepared but that combined with the dessert incident leaves me coming to a 3 star. **Also during our entire meal up until we were leaving those same empty tables and booths were still left open. Upon entering we were curtly told by the short blonde hostess that there was a 45 minute wait for a table, even though half the tables were empty, so we got 2 seats at the bar. The bearded bartender with glasses completely ignored us after he gave us our first (very weak) drink and took our food order. He did not ask us if our food was satisfactory or acknowledge us in any way during our meal. After 10 minutes of sitting with empty glasses, he never asked if we wanted a second drink though we were sitting right in front of him. He never asked if we wanted water after we received our burned pizza, and (most irritatingly) he never put the Yankees game on TV after we politely asked, and saying that he would. The bar back did kindly give us water immediately upon request, thus earning this establishment a second star rating. Otherwise, the bearded bartender earned one star. I've served in restaurants myself so I never want to be a pain. But I asked for a small substitution on one of the entree options. This place is by NO means on that level... we wanted to try our fave restaurants sister out so we headed to point pleasant last night and got a big disappointment. After we were seated we ordered oysters like we usually do... most likely our fault since the season is nearing end but these weren't fresh and were badly shucked, (two shells were cracked in half) there was no amazing accompaniments like at B2RB just standard cocktail sauce and mignonette. There was no bread for the table with fancy yummy butter and dips like at B2RB. My meal: I ordered the soft shell crab special, it was gross. It was drenched in oil like a sponge and over a mountain of purple yams which tasted like soap... the slaw on top was the only edible thing on the plate... my husband got a lamb pasta dish and that was good, the pasta was well cooked and the sauce was flavorful. I do not think that this establishment lived up to the high standards that it's sister restaurant has set which is disappointing...
