this place showed up first when we looked on yelp so we decided to give it a try. we weren't expecting much when it came to authenticity but we saw glowing reviews so we wanted to give it a try. we were sat outside in their patio which was cute, well decorated and we had a nice view of the main street. for starters, we shared the taro egg rolls. the filling itself was surprisingly delicious but note that the fish sauce that comes with it is extremely watered down and the pickled vegetables are grated in a manner that makes it almost mushy. my boyfriend got the pork and rice. the pork was way toooo sweet that I couldn't have more than a bite. the same problem with the pickled vegetables and fish sauce for this dish as well. rice was also a little too wet and overcooked for our liking. I got the short rib stir fry turmeric noodles. the turmeric noodles for this dish were exquisite. beautiful chew and good flavor although a little salty. the gai lan was a good touch to the dish adding a bit of freshness to it. my main gripe with this dish was the meat which was again way too sweet, an issue common in both dishes. for the price I wouldn't say that this place was worth it. it's definitely on the pricier side and I felt like the cost couldn't be justified by the food we had. read more

Ba Sa is a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant, and not just because it's convenient for ferry-goers. Our first visit was mostly out of curiosity and we were very excited for our return visit. The mushroom pho is surprisingly great. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, just someone who craves noodles and soup on a chilly day. The broth had the savory qualities you expect from pho. I didn't miss the meat at all. I did request a side of the Chinese donut and it was the perfect accompaniment. My wife's bun cha was also impressive. The sauce is a nice balance of sweet and savory. I realize that sounds simple, but I've been disappointed enough to order this dish with tempered expectations. We also loved the grilled pork and egg roll. Can't go wrong here. We did have a weird experience with our initial server. His shift ended in the middle of service but did not let us know. Our new server introduced herself without a handoff. Me and my friends visited Bainbridge Island and decided to stop at Ba Sa for lunch, and I was very impressed! Three of us ordered the Dry Aged Ribeye Beef Pho as well as the Spicy Truffle Wontons to split. It was the perfect amount of food to not be totally stuffed. I loved the uniqueness of the Spicy Truffle wontons, and thought they tasted very good. The pho was also very impressive as well. While doing out thing as tourists on a recent teip to Seattle, we ended up on Bainbridge Island for some reason. I had never been to an island in the Pacific Northwest before and anything I knew about them was thanks to Debbie Macomber's stories. So the most bizarre thing happened in our most recent trip and while walking (in the rain) on Bainbridge, we found a little Vietnamese fusion restaurant that honestly I thought to be the single most random place on earth to find one. Nevertheless, we were hungry, on vacation and COLD, so we decided to give this a try. I have to say I was amazed by not only the ambiance, but also the quality of the food. We ordered a variety of dishes, which included their top dish, the Beef Pho. The meat was tender, the broth was PHENOMENAL, and the overall ingredients made this absolutely delicious. I personally like my pho with THIN noodles, (thats just personal preference) rather than flat noodles, but the flavor was there and the attention was really great. We really enjoyed our visit here. The wait for a table was about 1 hour at 7 pm on a Saturday. Our group ordered the spring rolls, the lamb, the pork, the eggplant and the ube pannacotta. Stopped by Ba Sa while visiting Bainbridge Island. We ordered the calamari, truffle chili wonton and chili prawn noodles. All the food was pretty good, my favorite would probably be the prawns as they were crisped up really well. Honestly, my favorite thing ordered was the White Silk - it was creamy, light and refreshing - would definitely recommend! I think my expectations for this place were way too high. We visited Bainbridge Island on Saturday during the summer so I did expect it to be busy. We got on the waitlist around 11 and were seated after 12pm. Service was ok - it did feel slightly slow which I can understand for a busy weekend service. The food took a while to come out. I will say, I have not been disappointed with a bowl of pho in a while. The beef was excellent quality but I was disappointed that the cilantro, bean sprouts, and jalapeños were already added into the soup - I have always seen this provided on the side so that you can add it to your liking. Because of that, I couldn't share my noodles with my toddler due to the spice. In addition, the rice noodles were short and broken which was almost offensive honestly. Ambiance was nice. I will also say I have never seen a banh mi sold for that much ($20 with tax) which was also jarring. Highly recommend!! After hearing a few rave reviews, I was happy to be able to enjoy a Delicious meal at Ba Sa on new years!!! Just a short walk from the ferry terminal, ba sa is at the end of the short shopping area street and has a surprising amount to of tables front, back and a little covered area outside! Service is friendly, menu had so many tempting things to try, and we were told we couldn't really go wrong but ultimately ended up ordering some recommended popular items : chili prawn noodles (prawns were crispy, noodles al dente, sauce was flavorful but not spicy at all and ample portion). Taro egg rolls (these were yummy and w the taro, was a bit more filling than regular rice paper rolled egg rolls). And short rib turmeric noodles (generous portion of delish short rib, al dente noodles, yummy sauce that wasn't too saucy nor tumeric-y and it was so much food we definitely had leftovers.. however we still managed to try dessert and the baked caramelized pear was just perfect. Perfect texture, just the right amount of sweet, amazing flavor and we both wished we hadn't eaten so much of the main so we could have fully eaten the dessert.
