The duck was perfectly cooked -- rich, crisp, and incredibly flavorful -- balanced beautifully with fresh greens. It's a dish I'm still thinking about. We started the night with their G&T, which was crisp, well balanced, and the perfect way to kick things off. For our mains, the Chili Oil Prawns Noodle did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked prawns, bold flavor, and just the right amount of heat. We ordered the eggplant and tofu dish. It was a decent size, and had a very sweet sauce. The rice that came with the eggplant dish was hard, even though it was warm. I struggled to chew it and scoop it out of the bowl. We also ordered the mushroom pho. The broth had a strong mushroom taste, but it was okay. There was also an overflow of vegetables, and I felt like it was too much. Overall, was a pretty meh dish. It wasn't terrible , but i wouldn't order it again. We also ordered the Truffle Jojos (truffle fries). They were very good and tasty. Cooked to perfection. Very nice mix of truffle and crispy-ness. In addition to the mushroom pho, the last thing we ordered was the avocado spring rolls. It wasn't the best. Something in it tasted off, which i think was the avocado. The service was also a meh. Many of their dishes were spicy which limited what I was able to eat, but I was glad they indicted on the menu which were spicy so I knew which ones to avoid. It was a pretty busy day for the restaurant but we were able to get seating in their covered outdoor patio which was super cute. I think along the way, our food order must have not been put in because it took a really long time (more than 30 min) for our food to come out. Thankfully our waitress checked in with us and told the staff. After that, our food arrived. + Taro egg rolls - tasty! I think my expectations for this place were way too high. We visited Bainbridge Island on Saturday during the summer so I did expect it to be busy. We got on the waitlist around 11 and were seated after 12pm. Service was ok - it did feel slightly slow which I can understand for a busy weekend service. The food took a while to come out. I will say, I have not been disappointed with a bowl of pho in a while. The beef was excellent quality but I was disappointed that the cilantro, bean sprouts, and jalapeños were already added into the soup - I have always seen this provided on the side so that you can add it to your liking. Because of that, I couldn't share my noodles with my toddler due to the spice. In addition, the rice noodles were short and broken which was almost offensive honestly. Ambiance was nice. I will also say I have never seen a banh mi sold for that much ($20 with tax) which was also jarring. I would not return but if you must eat Vietnamese food on the island, this might be your best bet, just don't order the pho or banh mi. read more

I decided to order the Spicy Truffle Wonton and Short Rib Stir Fry Tumeric Noodles. Both of the dishes were beyond palatable and delightful. My tastebuds were tantalizing through the roof, that was how phenomenal those dishes were. I paired my food with a nice PassionMist Mocktail. The drink was fruity and refreshing. Highly recommend!! After hearing a few rave reviews, I was happy to be able to enjoy a Delicious meal at Ba Sa on new years!!! Just a short walk from the ferry terminal, ba sa is at the end of the short shopping area street and has a surprising amount to of tables front, back and a little covered area outside! Service is friendly, menu had so many tempting things to try, and we were told we couldn't really go wrong but ultimately ended up ordering some recommended popular items : chili prawn noodles (prawns were crispy, noodles al dente, sauce was flavorful but not spicy at all and ample portion). Taro egg rolls (these were yummy and w the taro, was a bit more filling than regular rice paper rolled egg rolls). And short rib turmeric noodles (generous portion of delish short rib, al dente noodles, yummy sauce that wasn't too saucy nor tumeric-y and it was so much food we definitely had leftovers.. however we still managed to try dessert and the baked caramelized pear was just perfect. Perfect texture, just the right amount of sweet, amazing flavor and we both wished we hadn't eaten so much of the main so we could have fully eaten the dessert. It was so good I kept eating it but then practically had to roll out the door and couldn't stand up I was so full afterwards .. so welcomed the walk back to the ferry to help digest! Nothing special, but it wasn't bad. The eggplant and tofu were also pretty tasty. The best dish that we ordered. The clams were TERRIBLE. It was so sandy. I could not get the taste out of my mouth after eating one. This was quite disappointing. The crispy shrimp noodles were a miss as well. The shrimp itself was fine, but the noodles were mushy and tasted bad. Not sure what they were going for in terms of flavor but as soon as I had one bite I did not try for seconds. This place is worth the hype. We had a large group of 11 and ended up just going right at opening. Everyone was super welcoming and the food was amazing. The chili prawn noodles were life changing and I will think about that forever. Our friends got the mocktail and loved it. The duck was nice especially paired with the salad it came with. Came to check out another "that place looks good" on my foodie list. Made reservations before we got onto the ferry going on a Saturday early afternoon. Would suggest calling beforehand. Menus consists of lots of my favorite Vietnamese foods with a fusion twist. We ordered the rib eye pho, chicken karaage banh mi and the chili oil prawn noodles. Keep in mind they tend to stay busy, wait times will vary. The banh mi flavors might've been my favorite. The karaage was nicely seasoned and crispy. The slaw and pickled veg/jalapeños were the perfect pairing in flavors with the chicken, so good! Would order this again. The pho was good--nothing crazy, I loved the Chinese donut that came with it to dip with the broth. Lastly, chili oil prawns with noodles were familiar yet new. Prawns were large and chili oil flavor was yummy, not spicy at all. Loved that they also mixed the noodles in the chili oil sauce! Great dining experience, delicious food and attentive staff. I understand that working in restaurants can be tiring and stressful, but as a customer I felt unwelcome by the way I was treated. I was served pho without a spoon, and rice with only a knife and fork -- which made it difficult to enjoy the meal properly. I also noticed that water was not refilled unless I asked, while other customer, received more attentive and cheerful service. I don't think this was intentional, but it made me feel discriminated against and disrespected. These small actions ruined what could have been a wonderful dining experience. Absolute MUST for lunch or dinner on Bainbridge! I stopped by with my dogs and they were able to seat us on their dog friendly patio, which was lovely. Our server was super cheerful, knowledgeable, and attentive and all of the staff seemed to be incredibly happy to be there. I ordered the fresh rolls to start which were good, nothing too special. I wish they would have come with peanut sauce too. For my main course I got the sizzling eggplant and tofu and it was AMAZING! The veggies melted in my mouth and the flavor was immaculate. I didn't know veggies and tofu could taste that good!! This dish is gluten free and vegan. The patio was quiet and relaxing and had a great vibe. They also have heaters for colder days. When we arrived at the restaurant, the line was fairly long, but to be fair, the staff handled it well. The servers were genuinely friendly, polite, and pleasant to interact with. That is the main reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one. However, we didn't come for the service alone - we came for the food, and that's where the experience fell apart. The most serious issue was finding a hair in one of the dishes. We asked for it to be replaced, and credit where it's due: the server handled the situation professionally, took the dish back to the kitchen, and brought us a complimentary fried chicken dish. Unfortunately, the chicken was dry and didn't taste very fresh. I fully understand that this is not the server's fault- it's a kitchen issue. If I were rating only the kitchen, I would honestly give it zero stars. The servers deserve 5 stars, but the overall experience lands at two. We spent around $190, and for that price the food was very underwhelming. The main dishes were acceptable but arrived not hot enough, and overall the food felt heavy and greasy. Even small details were disappointing - for example, the straws were cheap and cracked, making it impossible to drink properly once they split. The restaurant itself also feels overrated. The interior is nothing special, the walls don't look well maintained, and there's no real atmosphere to justify the price. It feels like you're mainly paying for the location near the port, not for quality. Overall, this place leaves a lot to be desired. I came here for lunch at the beginning of a trip to Bainbridge. We got there at the last possible moment as once we were seated it got busy and there was a crowd of people at the door! Very strong and sweetened well with condensed milk Chili Lime Calamari - 5/5 this was probably the best part of the meal. It was well seasoned and very crispy. The sauce it came with was also very good. Pork fried noodles - 2/5 this followed the very strong showing by the calamari. The menu says this was inspired by migoreng, but tasted nothing like it. This is definitely my favorite restaurant to go to when we go to Bainbridge Island!! Sometimes I would want to take the ferry to go to Bainbridge so I can eat at Ba Sa! Everything on the menu was very good and flavorful. I really enjoyed the taro egg rolls, spicy truffle oil wontons and the chili prawn noodle dish. The lemongrass lamb vermicelli noodle was good at first but then it got way too heavy and a little bit gamey so we were a bit sad about that dish. And I do agree that some of the dishes on the menu are definitely on the pricier side for the portion that you get but we loved our dining experience here each time. It does get very busy depending on the time and day you go so you may have to wait awhile to get seated. So be prepared! One great thing is they are dog friendly on the patio seating area!
