I order food a lot. I have been noticing this place for quite a while. The pictures look good with all the veggies and the egg. Finally decided to order the beef teriyaki. What we got was the rice, Beef, teriyaki sauce on the side, Lots of onions, Lettuce, and rice. We did not get all the nice veggies that is in the pictures showed, Which is why this is only 3 stars. We have ordered the bowls here several times and the food was always very good. However, recently we had an online order with two bowls and that experience was not good as usual. Firstly, the given sauce was not correct. We chose the Korean spicy Gochujiang (spicy level 4-5) but they gave us the super hot sauce （level 9-10）instead. All of them were perfect - the bulgogi had probably the best flavor. They also have sauces on the side, and the spiciest was great (lots of flavor but not overwhelming). Easily 5 stars. Kelly offered the best customer service ever! We place a to go order over the phone for two kimchi fried rice bowls, vegetarian style. I picked up our order and we were on our way. Before we got too far, Kelly called and let us know that they accidentally gave us the regular fried rice, which has pork. My friend and I are both long time vegetarians so it wasn't something that we would be able to look past. However, it was extremely busy when I was in Bab Café and I could understand how this could be mixed up and they have always been on point with my order in the past. Kelly showed sincere apologies and let us know that they were making us a new order and even threw in an extra kimchi side. Finally got around to trying Bab Cafe downtown. Having lived two years in Korea, I love Korean Food, especially bibimpap. I did not expect authentic bibimpap, but this was a disappointing and way over priced experience. The menu is extremely confusing. Even after previewing it online I was still confused when I was at the counter to order. You have to pay $3 extra for the hot pot. And for a $14 entree, all you get is a wooden spoon. The wings took forever to prepare and were not worth the wait - excessively greasy. Service was also disappointing as the guy who ordered behind us got his food way before ours - such that he was almost finished eating by the time we got our order. I hate to give any place less than 3 stars, especially one this popular. But the truth is I will never return and I can't recommend it; hence the two stars. For a MUCH better option, Kwok's is just one block away - better food, service and value. read more

Everything here is super good and relatively affordable. They have stamp cards and students get discounts. If you're super hungry, you can get a bowl but it's great for even snacking. I love to order even just a side of rice and put the little spicy teriyaki on it. I write this review for my wife's new found love of The Bab Cafe mandoo with spicy mayo. About a week ago we came across Bab Cafe when looking for some place new to try. We each got a bowl and than the mandoo. The restaurant itself is very clean, simple, and modern. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The gave instructions how to eat the Bab since this was our first time having it. They also offer suggestions which I liked. The Bab having everything you need or would want in a meal. The ingredients were fresh tasting. The seasoning/sauces are complex with different flavor notes coming through without overpowering one another. Now the mandoo (potstickers)! My wife loved (this would may not be powerful enough haha) how the wrapper was thinking with crispy edges and more tender center sections. The filling is in perfect proportion to the wrapper. It was firm and held together without being dense. Much fluffier. As with the Bab the flavors are somehow complex yet simple. My wife wants to make a meal of these. She firmly believes that they should be offered as an entree (5,10,20..piece haha). And she also says the spicy mayo (which for heat lovers this heat level will not be more than a 1/5..2/5) has the perfect amount of heat....not so much your ears ring, mouth throbs, and you grab for the milk. This mayo is a wonderful compliment (and employee suggestion) to the mandoo. Awesome job all the way around! read more
