We had lunch at Baba Kabob a few weeks back and it was delicious. The restaurant is run by a family, the location is great with plenty of parking. It is neat and clean and has a very good menu. We had chicken kabobs with rice and Chapalli kabob with rice. Both dishes were excellent but it seemed there was room for more food on the plates. For dessert we had Firni we high was the best we have had in San Diego and Los Angeles areas. We had a great experience and will visit regularly for some delicious Afghani food! I am very particular as to where I eat. I was a regular customer in their old location in Arian cuisine on Camino Ruiz and I stopped going there because they left. I found out today that the they are back in town and I visited their new location on Black Mountain and Miramar Road. They are back with a fantastic location with great looking place. I had my regular potato bolani and lamb kabob! Wow, great same quality food with friendly family service. By the way they were packed during lunch hour but there was seven people working so I got my food very quickly. This will be my regular lunch place. Came here for lunch yesterday for the first time and definitely not the last. The plaza it's in is a bit crowded and parking spaces are tight but amazing afghan food made with love. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food were made fresh to order. We ordered the bolani which was so good and fresh, the gyro fries, and the beef kabob plate. If you've never had Afghan food or want to try a new Afghan place in San Diego, this is it. Just went here for the first time with my family, and we were so happy we tried it! The place itself was clean, the hospitality was amazing, and the prices were very reasonable. But the food is why you have to come here. They have AUTHENTIC, homestyle Afghan food (save for the chicken tenders and French fries) and everything was made to order. For 5 people we got the chive bolani and potato bolani, a chicken kabob plate, beef kabob plate, and Chapli kabob plate. You also have the option to add an extra skewer/meat serving to a plate, but the regular plates sufficed for us. We got two bolanis as a starter, but they were HUGE and definitely meant to share. The kabobs were also wonderful. I've never had a chicken breast kabob this juicy and tender. Overall great food, great service, and great atmosphere. read more

Most amazing halal experience. I've been to many restaurants from LA to San Diego so my standard is pretty up there! The owner is this establishment previously owned Ariana Cuisine in Mira Mesa. Finally opened up his own spot away from the grocery store and came up with a more modern touch to halal food. This place is a little hidden gem right in Miramar rd. Same parking lot/complex around all the Indian owned restaurants and businesses. Went in a checked out their menu with one of my friends. We decided to go with the chapli kabob and chicken kabob with rice with a little bit of customization. Added some sunny side up eggs to the chicken kabob with the rice and salad. Let me just say the food came out amazing. The meat was really flavorful and spot on & juicy. They put in just enough spice to make it perfectly. We found Baba Kabob online when were looking for catering services for our Afghan-American wedding in San Diego. After reading all the raving reviews, we went to the restaurant about a month ahead of our wedding to try the food. We were very impressed by the food but we were even more impressed by the owner and staff. Baba, who is the owner of the restaurant took time to sit down with us and discuss what we wanted for the wedding. He was warm in his own way and answered all our questions. We left knowing that this was the place we were going to go with. Our wedding planner reached out to him during the month ahead and he was very helpful. After getting into town the week before the wedding, we went in and talked to his son and his wife and they helped us pick the food items for our henna night as well, which was delicious. Come wedding day, he and his lovely daughter brought all the food to the venue and everything was a hit with both our American as well as our Afghan guests. Everyone was raving about the food during and after the wedding. We got the gold menu from their website and let's just say my mouth is still watering when I think of their food.
