We did not have to wait, plenty of parking (Sunday at 8am.) Our waitress was nice and plenty of waitstaff on but enough cooks? For a breakfast place as large as they are and with plenty of open tables and waitresses hanging around the food took awhile. Pretty basic stuff here. My wife and I went to Babes for breakfast after church. This place was fantastic. Food was over the top good, huge selection and portions. Delicious. But, I've eaten here before and was not surprised by the great food. This time though I was waited on by a woman named Malinda. She was fantastic. Very friendly, helpful, and anticipated our needs without us even asking for help. She was the best. Only negative comment is the place needs a face lift. Stick with a breakfast sandwich and you'll be full enough, I promise! Babes is whatever is just below a greasy spoon. Is there such a thing as a "dive diner?" Service is spotty, the parking lot is crowded, and the lighting is low. The portions and the flavors are worth the stop as long as you can look beyond the issues. So much so that we were Disappointed when our trip didn't provide time for a return visit. My mother had the breakfast sandwich and was amazed at its massive size. We loved the way it was constructed, with the egg fried directly on top of the bacon. It ensured that she had bacon in every bite. I'm the fool who tried to eat an entire platter on my own. Good size menu and portions, but leaves a lot to be desired. But I often will judge a diner based on their home fries are and at Babe's they are some of the worst I've ever had. They are basically sliced potatoes slightly cooked with no seasoning or crisp to them. The omelette was decent enough, the Italian bread toast was either a day or two old or I got stuck w the heels. Pancakes while on the pricey side for a stack were decent. Definitely not the best. Coffee was classic diner style joe, I enjoyed Spacious booth and plenty of seating and they are always open which is neat. Waitress was nice. Kitchen got backed up several times and different items came out separately to several tables. Not the biggest of deals. $35+ for two for breakfast and not feeling satisfied is hard for me to swallow bc I love breakfast. Meh. Been here a couple of times while visiting my best friend, who has told me before that it's really not that great. The first time he brought me here was last summer, and I got some pretty tasty raspberry French toast then. However we came back this past weekend and I was left pretty disappointed. I ordered eggs with corned beef hash. Pretty sure it was just the corned beef hash out of the can, as it was all mushy and greasy and also extremely hot when I took the first bite, which made me question if it was fresh out of the microwave. The home fries tasted undercooked, which I found weird because they weren't even thick cut home fries. The best things in my meal were the griddled English muffin and the coffee milk I had to drink. The space itself is pretty off putting, with unmatching furniture and decor, and the booths all ripped apart. The place looks like it's literally falling apart. Babes has been recommended to me for quite a few years so I'm glad I got the opportunity to finally go for a visit. The restaurant is quite spacious and the wait staff are very attentive. they also have a decent sized parking lot that they share with several other businesses. They have a huge breakfast and lunch menu though they are a bit pricey in comparison to other local diners. I would highly recommend ordering from the Babes Breakfast Platter section of the menu or trying the daily specials if your dining on a dime or want a little of everything with your meal. the portions they give are very generous so be prepared. One of the waitresses there is very nice, attentive and super prompt every single time I go. The others not so much. The food isn't terrible but I must say the hash browns are gross. Like many reviews in here, they almost look like freshly sliced and uncooked scallop style potatoes with no seasoning. For a cup of coffee, 4 strips of bacon, 2 eggs with ehh rubbery white cheese, and ridiculously unnecessary sized portion of gross potatoes I paid almost $12. Not for nothing, I'm a foodie breakfast type. There's about 20 places in RI I've gone where you get better quality for half price. I get it's late night, but come on! It could go either way. What I found was a place that was old and could use some redecorating- it's an old diner. But the servers were friendly and greeted me when I went in, told me I could sit where I wanted and then made sure they were quick, efficient and always there is I needed something. The amount of food I got was HUGE. - if that is what I got with 2 scrambled eggs,bacon, home fries and toast, no wonder people keep talking about the huge omelets! The eggs were good - (not overcooked), 3-4 pieces of bacon, and lots of potatoes - which were awesome with some fried onions in them. The server made sure I always had refills on my water and soda, and the price was more than reasonable. I left lots on my plate (but no home fries -they were really good) but was very happy. Is it fancy or upscale? No, it's a good breakfast place and I would definitely return with my BF and friends. I personally think it's hard to find places that cook a good breakfast. So many places water down their scrambled eggs, and then cook them into hard pieces, and give small pieces of bacon with no flavor and the home fries are usually partially cooked. We drive by this pace all the time and this weekend we ended up giving it a shot for a Sunday morning breakfast. Overall appearance was your run of the mill diner, it looked as if they use the entrance side of the restaurant for old timers and regulars as that is where all the booths are and while it was only about half full we were seated on the other side with the tables and half booths. We both ordered breakfasts with a shared side of corned beef hash. The food took a solid 45 minutes to come out, and let me tell you, they definitely go for Quantity over Quality. My wife's omelette had to have at least 8 eggs in it, and it was super over cooked and rubbery. I had the Eggs Benedict, and while that was good, it came with about 2 pounds of home fries which ended up being the worst potato dish I've ever had, literally it was like they took the potatoes out of the trash to make them. The corned beef has was burnt to a crisp and had zero flavor. An hour and a half later, with great disappointment, we paid the close to $40 bill for the two of us. This place would be a great LAST RESORT, but otherwise go ANYWHERE else. read more

That being said, there are a few positive traits about Babe's Place; the food tastes decent, it is served in large portions, they are open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday, and they serve breakfast all day. Babe's is primarily good for those late drunken nights when your craving greasy food and could care less about the dingy and extremely dirty atmosphere. If you are really craving Babe's Place I recommend the Patriots Diner in Woonsocket. The food is the same, it is cleaner, and has friendlier service. Went to Babe's for breakfast this morning. Although the place was busy, we were seated quickly. Unfortunately, the floor beneath our table was filthy from the previous customers. Although someone offered to come clean it up, no one did. My husband actually got up & grabbed the broom, then someone came over. Service was slow to start but the food arrived quickly. Portions are HUGE. We could easily have ordered 3 meals to feed our family of 5. Omelets are humongous. Typical diner fair. Overpriced drinks. $2-$3.50 for typical juice/ chocolate milk. Food was done as ordered and seasoned well and tasted ok. It was my appetite that struggled. Everywhere I looked appeared to be splattered with stuff (the backs of the counter chairs especially) or was really sticky and gross like the floors and the table we were sitting at. It's a diner... I came here late night for some grub. It's better than ihop, but nothing fantastical. Even as a first timer, it felt like an old diner where nothing new seemed to have really changed. I dislike fluorescent lights, and even if the interior were nicer, the lighting wasn't going to help give it an inviting feel. It just felt... green... you make the association, lol. The prices were average, but I love a diner that is fair to their customers, unfortunately, I ended up paying ihop prices at a local joint. At least it was fairly quiet and the service was friendly. Not yelling, but definitely not an appropriate conversation to be having in earshot of your patrons; i.e., swearing (this is a family environment). This time around I had the mushroom Benedict; mushrooms were perfection, hollandaise was good, eggs were a tad over-poached, homefries a little underdone. Hubby had an omelet; omelet was excellent, homefries were unseasoned, but easily remedied w/a little salt & pepper. One of my sons got the hash Benedict & had no complaints. My other son had the Country Boy (pancakes); Holy Deliciousness, Batman! So huge, he had leftovers for 2! My daughter got a waffle: loved it, but couldn't finish it either. All in all, I would come back because the food is good & the portions are large...I get 2 meals out of it. Gave 3 stars because of the swearing & a few minor inconsistencies w/quality of dishes. This is our go to place for breakfast food after the bars. They don't care if you can't talk, can't stand up straight, or falling over in the booth. If you can pay for it, they will serve it to you. I have to say, I'm not a corn beef hash person, but when I go to Babe's...it's one of the many options that I'll end up getting. I also love their Eggs Benedict. Oh, and the Ommlets are good too. But who am I kidding...I'm only there after going out to the bars. So I have a feeling that I would think that anything you put in front of me was amazing! Still, who doesn't love a place that's open 24 hours on the weekends? And who doesn't love a place where you can have random conversations with other drunk folk in other booths?
