Babe's Place is where I would go for comfort food. But I have not been in a while so since it is open 24 hours Fri and Sat we decided to go back. I don't know what happened but the entire meal I ordered was awful. I will begin with the omelet. I ordered the Western. I was not aware Western omelets did not come with cheese unless it is ordered extra. It was bland and flat. Not fluffy at all. Every bite I cut fell apart and I had to scrape it back on the fork. There was no seasoning at all that I could detect. The "home fries" are up. It honestly looked like the cook just sliced up a potato and fried it in a pan. They were charred, there was no salt or pepper or onion. When I bit into a piece it tasted like a plain fried up potato. The service: Our waitress was the only good thing about our meal. She was attentive, she noticed I was disappointed with the food and did what she could. She was nice and very sweet. Final thought: I will be seeking comfort food elsewhere in the future. It was my first time at Babe's and I was very impressed. As busy as it was, we were seated right away. The waitress was very quick to acknowledge us and periodically check in. The menu is amazingly large and filled with tempting options. I chose the sausage eggs Benedict with the white sausage gravy. It was delicious as it sounds. The portions are enormous. Yes if you are a stickler for pristine restaurants then pass on here. It is a dive diner disguised as a restaurant. I walked in and saw the prices on the board and thought it to be a bit above the norm for breakfast food. I soon understood when the massive amounts of food arrived. I had another meal for the next day after feeling like a stuffed thanksgiving turkey. As I looked at the dust on the window sill beside me, I could of cared less about it while eating my very delicious food. The waitresses were very nice, efficient and personable. I don't remember the food here being this good! Greek omelette was great and the pancakes were thick and fluffy. The bacon was the best I've had in awhile. I don't want to sound pretentious because I'm not big on ambiance in diner-style restaurants. But if I'm being honest the decor needs a major facelift and clean sweep. Great service and prices. We love their breakfast selection. They offer generous portion sizes and are kid friendly.

Never a dull moment there on a weekend after the clubs and bars close. Good times had by all and the food...the food is better overnight than it is during the daylight hours! Props to these guys for knowing how to make a breakfast. :-) Update 1-1-16: Some staff are more attentive than others. We waited over an hour and a half for food. Our waitress disappeared and only came over when our food was ready (never asked for coffee or drink refills). It was the worst experience I've had there. Pros: It's a diner, diner's are great. Portions are huge. Cons: Cooks yelling at each other, enough grounds in the coffee to brew my own pot, order wasn't followed, felt greasy for several hours after. I have gone to babe's place twice. The first time it was late in the day. I ordered a stack of chocolate chip pancakes. They were alright nothing special. Waitstaff was very nice and frequently filled up my coffee. On my second visit, I got to say, it's like it was a new place. Every seat was filled, and the eating was amazing. My girlfriend and I split, texa french toast, chocolate chip pancakes, cran-berry muffin, hash, eggs, home fries...etc This was way above my previous visit. Everything was incredibly delicious and filling. Tho wait staff this time wasn't as good, the food made up for it. Even with a packed place, I was surprised that our wait for food was barely noticable at all. After my second visit I would highly recommend going to Babe's! read more

This place has the best bang for the buck. Babes features home style cooking with 'Mom' size portions. I can never finish my meal and always bring home the leftovers. Had the fish 'n chips yesterday that came with delicious NE clam chowda, big garden salad, and 2 hush puppies. The NE Cod fish was fresh (did not stink like some places) came lightly breaded with little grease. Only $9.95. My fave is the American chop suey! I've been to many "Fah-fah" restaurants that charge twice the price. Don't expect ambiance for this is just a simple diner with very good food. Ugh, I want to give this 5 stars; I really do but...I just feel like I have to go home and disinfect, shower and throw my clothes in the washer after coming here. The booths are so grimy and seats feel like grease has been wipe on for years. The booths have this floral pattern that just looking at it, should be at least 50 shades of grey lighter to expose the real color. The food is okay, the amounts are quite generous and the service is fairly quick but that's all the positive I can speak of. I mean I do realize this isn't a fancy restaurant by any means. Babes. A place to go after 1,000 beers at the bar. Simply divine for the drunks, not so much for the designated driver or sober folk. Breakfast is it's claim to fame. A whopping omlet loaded with fillings comes to you with all the promise in the world of awesome flavor, but much like voting for Jeff Beatty for U.S. senate, once on your plate it falls short of it's great promise due to corner cutting and inferior ingredients, and blatant shirking of responsibility in favor of personal gain. The wait staff are friendly, the dining area well kept, the bathrooms usually clean beyond acceptable standards. The coffee: try unscrewing the drain plug from your car's engine and drink the oil. or even healthier, bring in your own from your favorite place to get coffee. The only consistient thing with the coffee is the inconsistiency. tin thin and full of grinds one day, potent enough to strip barnicles off the hull of the USSMassachusetts the nex day. I love Babe's Place though. It's the only place where I can get a huge hash and cheese omlet smothered in sausage gravy, home fries (which are very good). any time I want. This was our breakfast place every Saturday morning and late nights. The waitresses are so nice and would often hold the baby and walk around with her so we could eat. We witnessed roaches in the restaurant a few years ago and haven't been back since. Recently an elderly family member tripped on the step walking in and was injured. No one helped. Her husband went inside for help getting her up off the floor and to ask someone to call 911 and there was no sense of urgency, no apology no concern and no phone call made.
