We came for brunch on a Sunday around 12:30pm. The service was great our server was really helpful and kind in explaining the menu/giving suggestions. The mimosas were good (i got bottomless) and when my drink went unfilled they brought me an extra cup to replace my missed drink. All the food was great and hot. Our food did not come out together so by the time everyone got their meals the people who received their food first had semi cold food. The patio was beautiful and we sat right under the tree. I recently had dinner here and although the restaurant is beautiful, the service and the food were very much lacking. When we arrived we had a reservation and were seated right away at a nice table. Our server, didn't come to introduce herself until about 20 minutes after we were seated. She remain MIA pretty much the rest of the night. I had to ask other servers or bussers for assistance when I needed anything. The main problem however was the food. It just wasn't good. It didn't taste good, not seasoned well. I can't explain except to say it was nasty. Very disappointing, I've been to the silver lake and Glendale locations and had great experiences. I definitely do NOT recommend this place. read more

Had a lovely early dinner with a friend. After my Valentine's day experience it took me a while to try Bacari again, and I am so happy I finally did go back. We shared a large house made sangria, scallops, sea bass, lamb hummus, baguette with garlic oil.. the sea bass was our favorite, crispy salted skin on a bed of corn cabbage slaw, perfect contrast. our waitress was lovely and later in our evening, when we'd finished our meal, but were still chatting and slowly sipping our sangria the manager needed us to move tables to accommodate a larger group, he was very nice about it and did not rush us out and actually encouraged us to continue enjoying our drinks. I highly recommend coming here if you're looking for a place to celebrate special occasions. We came here with a group of 9 for a birthday party and the staff went out of their way to make everyone feel special. As soon as we sat down, our waitress offered us complimentary champagne. We thought it was only going to be a glass for each of us, but she gave the rest of the champagne in a huge carafe! A few of us mentioned that we usually aren't champagne drinkers, but this champagne was not too bubbly and was sweeter than the traditional champagne. They also had a wine special that night so each bottle of wine was only $28! Besides the drinks, the food was also delicious! We ordered about 2-3 dishes per person and every dish was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The standout dishes for me were the Lamb Hummus ($14.50), Sea Bass ($16.50), Ricotta & Beet Gnocchi ($14.50), and the Stuffed Mushrooms ($14.50). I'm still thinking about the crispy skin on that sea bass and the mind-blowing flavors in those stuffed mushrooms! We finished the meal with a dessert for our birthday boy. They usually do the birthday candle with their Bread Pudding, but they were able to customize it for us and we got it with the Double Chocolate Cake ($10). The cake was surprisingly not too dense like other chocolate cakes I've had and the hazelnut brittle added a crunchy texture and nutty flavor. Overall, everyone had a great time and we thought the price was reasonable for the portions that we got. We sat in the outdoor garden, but it was dark and dimly lit (possibly because it was rainy so they couldn't put up the lights) so I would love to come back to see what it looks like another time. read more

Bacari was a delight as usual. Went there for a graduation/Father's Day celebration with my family. Everything we tasted was on point. I just love going there and try as many tapas as I can. The flavors are on point and go extremely well together. The atmosphere was amazing, we sat by the outside patio and it was sunny and great atmosphere. This is the most unique of the Bacari restaurants, as you must enter a "tunnel" to get to the dining area. Now if you're over six feet, you'll be pretty close to the roof and probably need a hardhat for safety; otherwise, the patio is at the end of the tunnel and resembles an inviting oasis. If it is a summer evening, try dining outside in the patio, where it is lit up and very romantic. As for the food, the servings are not as large as the other Bacaris I've been to, but tasted similar enough to be Bacari Tapas. I've had the majority of the menu previously, but still enjoyed the food in the inside dining room. My all time favorite is the salmon pita with nice greens and smoked salmon, which is probably Lox, if it were a bagel. The hummus was delicious as always, and was in just about everything we ordered. The potato tacos were another hit with me, and something not too decadent to enjoy. I only have one more Bacari to visit for the LA area (Playa Del Rey) and am looking forward to visit during the summer months... read more

Owned by the Kronfli brothers, Bacari restaurants are popping up all over the place. In fact, a new location is opening down the street from my office in the former Villa Blanca space. I visited one for the first time this past Saturday. When you arrive, the host will escort you through a brick lined tunnel into a peaceful & serene refuge. The beautiful courtyard and rustic European décor create a picturesque atmosphere. There's a bar in the center and it's situated halfway between the indoor & outdoor dining areas. We were a party of twelve, so we sat in the lovely patio. We started with a champagne toast to our dear Tato who was celebrating his 75th birthday. For brunch they offer bottomless mimosas, bellinis, sangria, & Bloody Marys for $30 (90-minute limit). Since I had the USC Homecoming Tailgate to attend, I skipped that and ordered the Summer Flower. Made with gin, lemon, ginger, elderflower, rose water & prosecco - it was light & refreshing and sooooo good! The menu features Venetian inspired dishes with a Mediterranean influence. Since the portions are tapas style our darling party hostess suggested we order two dishes. One of the great things about being Yelp Elite is that when people find out they offer to let you try their meal. My half of the table ordered: Hillel's Donuts (my selection): Coated in cardamon sugar these pillowy delights were delicious. The brown butter salted caramel sauce was bomb and the honey lavender labni dipping sauce was tasty. I also got a side of fresh fruit and graciously shared both. Chilaquiles: The house made tortilla chips were coated in Pico de Gallo and Oaxacan Poblano cream, which made the chips soft & tender. It was very flavorful. Shakshouka: I tried the house rustic tomato sauce, and it was amazing! The Crab Cake Benedict consisted of juicy tender crab meat encased in a crispy panko crust. The grapefruit hollandaise was a pleasant surprise. The Bacari Fries were perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. The chef's sauce that was drizzled on top was quite tasty. Smoked Salmon Pita: The smoked salmon was fresh and the dill garlic crème fraiche was the perfect accompaniment. The Chef's French Toast was another winner. The house baked brioche was light & fluffy. Dipped in the syrup it was heavenly. Shawarma Tacos: These were nicely presented. A vegan option is available, but my friend got his with chicken. However, the sauce that came on the side was awesome! Personally, the portion sizes were perfect. Everything was delicious and everyone was happy with their choices. The staff were all amazing and checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we ordered and refill water & drink orders. I'd recommend making a reservation! First of all, Jordan was the best waiter two girls on a night out could have asked for. He was pleasant, attentive, and an overall joy to be around! Ask to sit in the Jordan section and you won't be disappointed. Parking was somewhat difficult since there was only street parking and valet parking was not available at the restaurant. Regarding that factor, you are on your own. Our visit was on a weekday, and we had no problem finding parking! The vibe inside was very dark and it was hard to see. Don't say you weren't warned, the menu writing was small and it was dark in there. However it did give a very small mom-and-pop shop outside. The atmosphere made it seem like a neighborhood joint. I know this sounds crazy, but my friend ordered the Summer flower, and it actually tasted like a flower. It was tangy but refreshing with a hint of sweetness that wasn't too overpowering. It's a great drink, I'd suggest getting it. There's a tapas vibe to this place because the serving sizes are small and we recommend at least 2-4 plates per person. We ordered about 5 plates total, which was good, and we had leftovers. Let's talk about the food! You'll know from my reviews I love Brussels sprouts, and this place has THE BEST ONES!! I loved how crispy, well-seasoned, and bite-sized they were. They had caramelized pomegranate molasses, creme fraiche, and red beet, but the red beet was shredded so it didn't affect the flavor. The creme fraiche made these Brussels sprouts stand out in the best way. If you take away anything from this, please get the sprouts and the sliders. They were by far my favorite part, and I still think about them. Cooked to perfection, the chicken was juicy and breaded well. It's the first time I've had cornbread-crusted chicken, and I think it should be standard. The chicken was so tender you'd think they slow-cooked it before breading and frying it. Afterward, we tried the glazed pork belly, which I didn't like. However, I didn't like them because they tasted too much like bacon fat. Those would be good as a side, but not by themselves. Get the sea bass, it's pan seared, charred shishito pepper and corn, tarragon aioli, pomegranate molasses, and grilled lemon. It tasted like they got the fish an hour before they pan-seared it and served it to us. Plus, the flavor combo was awesome, everything complimented each other really well. Even though I'm not a fish fan, I really liked this. Pizza Margherita has to be fresh and I mean homemade pizza dough and sauce. The top was cracked pepper with sea salt. The pizza was not greasy even though it was topped with olive oil. You could really taste the basil. GET THE DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CAKE!! It's only worth it if you're adding ice cream to the cake. I liked it, but the ice cream really made it. Besides being fluffy, smooth, and rich, the cake was also soft. I can not wait to go back!! read more

The ambience and aesthetic of Bacari is a must see. You are immediately immersed in their culture walking down a long tunnel. Tapas style restaurant, with plenty of options vegan and not. Few reasons this review wasn't a 5: 1. We started off with the most amazing waitress Daniela who just shined and you could tell she was immersed in what Bacari offered. She was very attentive to our needs and lovely person who just wanted to join your table. 2. Right as our food was being served there was a change in staff as she was the first cut for the night. Everything changed from there. We didn't even get the new waitresses name had to continuously look for her and ask for the things that we needed. When the food was brought out, there were no serving utensils, knowing that we were a large group of individuals that were sharing all the tapas. When asked it felt as if we were disturbing her. We had to try to waive her down multiple times to get the things that we needed for our table like refills, order more items and get our bill. Our table was rarely cleared off unless we asked and it just made the experience to the point where I don't think we will come back. This was my first time at a Bacari restaurant and I'm so glad I went to this location. First off the entrance is so cute and tiny. The hostess takes you down this long narrow candlelit tunnel and opens the doors to the most magical patio! It literally felt like I was transported to a different century. I was so excited to get to our table and order. The drinks were amazing. I ordered the aloe there (highly reccomend) and for food I got the chicken breast with the jalepeno cream and the beet gnocchi (which I loved!) to top it off we finished with the bread pudding. My boyfriend and I visited a few days ago and unfortunately had a very disappointing dining experience. We had a 4:00 p.m. reservation but were not seated until 4:20 p.m. -- not ideal, but we initially brushed it off. However, the host at the front was noticeably rude to my boyfriend and came across with a lot of unnecessary attitude. After being seated, we were not greeted by our server until 5:00 p.m., meaning we waited about 40 minutes without even being offered water. During that time, three tables that were seated after us had already received their food -- and they had the same server we eventually had. When our server finally came over, her demeanor was not very welcoming. Our food was delivered by what appeared to be food runners rather than our server. She checked on us twice after the food arrived, and the second time we asked for a few to-go boxes and the check. Unfortunately, another 20 minutes passed without her returning. Thankfully, a very polite gentleman -- who seemed like he may have just started his shift -- came by to check on us. He was extremely kind, boxed up our food, and brought us the bill. Because of his professionalism and positive attitude, we made sure to tip him. He also apologized after my boyfriend briefly explained what had happened, which we appreciated. The food itself was okay -- nothing particularly memorable -- and portions were shareable. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, and the interior is very nice, but overall the service issues really took away from the experience. read more

It was only now that I noticed, after visiting last weekend for brunch, that Daniela was our waitress again. Service was stellar and Daniela treated us amazingly. She was radiating great energy, which we saw her extend to all her tables. For food, the chilaquiles topped the list. There's just something warm and soothing about the green sauce. It's not tart or bitter like other green sauces are. Everything's balanced, and I feel no shame when I eat an entire plate by myself. The charred broccoli was something we hadn't tried before, and it was a nice fresh and light option. The Bacari Fries (with bacon) and the French Toast were still amazing. I'm happy that they still have the bottomless mimosas. My friends all shared the Bacon Wrapped Medjool Dates between themselves, which they loved. I'm not a date person. Can we have a top favorite of all time? I think so and for me it would be Bacari on West Third Street. As with the other two amazing locations for the bros Kronfli (Silverlake and Sherman Oaks), BW3 is a serendipitous oasis in the midst of the concrete jungle that is Hollywood. Looking around on 3rd St., you wouldn't expect much. In fact, there are a few stores up and down the street that need to clean up their act, especially their sidewalk space. You know that old adage -- was it Buddha who said "sweep your front porch and the world will be swept"? Or something ... But, Bacari is once again verdant and clean, cool and breezy, a refuge, a haven from the current madness of our warp-speed hot and fiery daily lives. Just view some of my pictures here, which don't really do it justice. The entire garden patio was cool and sunny, just as warm and enveloping as silk. One thing I appreciate about Bacari is its phenomenal menu, consistent across all five of its restaurants. So, you will see some dupes here from earlier outings to the other three that we have tried (only West Adams remains). I explain each dish on my photos of them. When we arrived early for our reservation, the hostess welcomed us without hesitation even though there was a line outside and the place was booked. I had reserved an indoor table, not knowing if it would be meltingly torrid outside -- it wasn't. So, when I contrasted our table tucked in the back of a dark corner, I asked if we could be seated outside instead. She told us she would try but they were full (which they were when we looked around). Seconds later she led us to the perfect table in a shaded spot under an enormous tree that has been reverently preserved within a concrete wall. What I most love about Bacari restaurants apart from their menu and exceptional service are the womby-tomby vibes they create inside each of their Hernando-hideaway venues. You feel as if you are whisked away from the madding crowd (I know, I am mixing metaphors like crazy) and for an hour or so, you are relaxing and absorbing the garden spirits that reside at each of their places (I am sure of this. I feel their presence in the home gardens I have created and know they are at Bacari too, LOL). I will let my photos do the rest of the talking. Mar Mar, our server, was professional, quick, and cheerful -- I hope our pourboire signaled that. You can be sure we will be back here often. I want a whole meal of their lamb hummus! It's amazing but so little. If the owners see this please make a lamb dish like the one on your hummus. Rarely do you walk into a place & love everything about it from food to vibe to customer service. We ordered Tuscan Kale Salad, Lamb Hummus with pita, Shawarma Tacos, Noa's Cauliflower, Stuffed Mushroo, The Best Cake with Ice Cream. My favorite was the lamb hummus.
