The pictures looked SO good. It's hard to hear with all the blenders going off. If you're into oatmeal, then this place is great. They even offer a quinoa version if you like that kind of thing. I got the acai bowl, which is basically yogurt base with fruit on top, in a bowl. The yogurt was SO cold. I ended up picking the fruit off of it. What I did like was that if seating was unavailable (which it was when we went, PACKED!), you can go 2 doors down to the coffee shop, and they will deliver it there to you. yay! read more

However, because of its location and size, seating is really difficult to score especially on a weekend morning. Delicious, healthy bowls for the entire family. I love to fill my belly. Even the small bowls at Backyard Bowl accomplish my primary objective. It's not often that my wife, daughter and I all find agreeable food items. At Backyard we all found flavorful, refreshing, and filling items. My wife and daughter loved the island bowl, I went with the hemp bowl. You can't really go wrong with any of the acai options. CAUTION - I warn you that you'll fill up with the small bowls. There isnt anything terrible about Backyard Bowls. The acai berry bowl was good, but I've had better acai bowls elsewhere. I had Samazon at Newport Beach, which in my opinion, is better. The acai blend at BYB has a lot of honey, thicker, and sticker. There's just something in the acai blend that turns me off. The gogi berries though, I do like. Everyone who lives in SB raves about this place, but I am excited to go back to where I usually go for my acai bowls. read more

Very disappointed. Not sure what the açaí was made out of.... tasted like fake yogurt, not blended fruit. Consistency was "globby" and unnatural tasting. Also, ordered extra fruit and they only gave a few additional strawberries, and gave less of the other fruit that was supposed to be on top. Not worth the $15. Great bowls but service is beyond horrible. I frequently try calling in orders just to get to voicemail multiple times. I finally decide to stop trying to call and I politely try telling the person at the register and she just looks over and says "it may have been busy". While waiting for my bowl I hear the phone ring at least 3 times with no reply. Not surprising I got the same. Half the time my order is wrong as well. DUDE. Everything rocked. I do not say this lightly, but every combination I've had at Backyard Bowls was DELICIOUS. The price point was great for the quality of ingredients (actually, since the quality was amazing, I was surprised at how great the prices were). If you're a vegan or a vegetarian, this place is amazing too. There is hemp and cashew milk, the option to leave honey products off of your food, and everything is so fresh, I was blown away. The goji berries and strawberries were F-ing CRAZY GOOD. Two things bugged me about Backyard Bowls: 1. Lack of seating. (Not really a turn-off, just an annoyance. I'd probably eat Backyard Bowls in a gutter, given the opportunity.) Since Backyard Bowls is wildly popular, seating is sparse. 2.
