In search of some breakfast I landed onto this place via help of yelp. Craving something light, delicious and savory this was an easy choice to go with. Parking was easy as it was Sunday morning and there's only street parking so luckily I found it right in front. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the staff members regarding the menu and on placing orders. Ended up ordering the breakfast burrito with longanisa, the Gallego pancakes along with a strawberry matcha and a ube matcha. The burrito was warm, healthy, savory, right amount of kick of heat with the verde salsa the bit of crunch from the hash brown was top tier. The pancakes were a surprising as I wasn't expecting them to be crispy. Not only crispy, but warm, fluffy, rich tasting and the berry compote was the best. The 2 matchas both ube and strawberry were delicious. The ube definitely wasn't a strong overpowering combination but I liked the strawberry one more as it just tasted more refreshing and a good blend all together. As I was getting closer to finishing my food I noticed this place got a lot more busier. The place is definitely family friendly, tvs placed in different areas to watch a game and they had a movie playing for kids as well good place for family and friends or just a simple grab and go, it's not too noisy either. Parking can be tough and yes, you may have to wait a bit to order and get your food depending on how busy they are but I would honestly rate this entire place a solid 8.7/10. I love their coffee shops so we were excited to try this spot. I was looking forward to try their custard filled French toast. Maybe in my head I thought the custard was going to be creamy and thick but it was dry and a very thin layer. Couldn't really taste it as it wasn't a creamy custard. Their breakfast sandwich was good. And I saw other dishes that looked delicious. The drinks were good. It's a beautiful place with plenty of seating indoors and out. I dropped by for a virtual work session, and this place checked all the boxes. The booth seats are as comfortable as they are spacious. The interior looks spotless; even the restrooms left me quite impressed. Hip hop + R&B plays through the speakers at medium volume. My herbal lemonade tasted refreshing. I came to "Forever by 18 Gram" Food Lounge to celebrate my girlfriend's friend's birthday. I didn't realize it wasn't a full-service restaurant, so I was a little surprised and honestly a bit bummed. I thought it was a regular sit-down restaurant, but it's actually self-service. You scan a QR code and order online. If that's the case, there really should be a bigger and clearer sign explaining that. Also, if customers are ordering online, there needs to be a visible WiFi sign posted. Service can be spotty depending on your carrier, and I had to walk up to ask for the WiFi password. That could've easily been avoided with better signage. I ordered the Loco Moco. The flavors were good, but my food came out cold. If the food is prepped ahead of time, it should at least be heated properly before serving. I upgraded to fried rice for an additional $3 charge. The staff was okay - the lady I spoke with wasn't snobby, which I appreciated. And I will say, they have really good iced coffee. Overall, it was a bittersweet experience. With clearer communication about self-service and making sure food is served hot, it could be much better. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. read more

I was soooo excited to hear that 18 Grams has a new location right in downtown! It's part of the Ice Blocks that had been under construction for a few years facing S St. Even though it's a busy area, it wasn't hard to find street parking nearby. I got lucky with a paid meter spot right around the corner! We had a party of 3 at 11am on a Saturday and was able find a table easily. You're immediately greeted by the staff members behind the counter as you walk in. I ordered a longanisa sando and then sat out on the patio with my friends. There's a lot of seating outside, most bar height, with some guests bringing their pups! The interior is also a whole vibe, so I had to take a picture :) The longanisa sando was DELICIOUS. I love a brioche bun and theirs was so soft. The longanisa patty was just the right amount of sweet and savory. The egg was perfectly runny and the fries were crispy and extremely addicting. My friends ordered the loco moco which they didn't really enjoy. They said the gravy wasn't too flavorful, but I didn't try it so make of that what you will. Shaking beef with fried rice: 2/5 the fried rice was very good but the beef was NOT ribeye. It definitely is along the line of sirloin or some sort of type of cheaper choice grade meat. The meat was not fully seasoned. Loganisa breakfast sandwich: 4.5/5 best bang for the buck, the eggs were on the well done side but that's okay, the overall compatibility was very very good. Loco moco: 1/5 the meat patty was super overcooked, it had to be cut with a knife and fork. Super random to have kimchi and arugula where it doesn't mix well. Sticky rice, red beans and pork for $18 bucks...heck looks like it's 18 lbs.! Only bummer was even though it's cooked, the won't heat it for you and you have to take it home to heat and eat, so had to order another lunch item, which was the chicken rice bowl. *joong only offered through the Lunar New Year Great service, good vibes and food here as usual today! Fast forward 6 hours...got home , opened up the Joong to slice for pan frying, and OMG it was sooo good. I normally just microwave the normal sized ones, but they insisted I try it pan fried. The light crisp created on each side was heavenly, and the pork tasted like it was roast pork. Even though it didn't have the traditional fillers (dried shrimp, Chinese sausage, salted egg yolk, dried scallops, fatty pork), this monstrosity of a joong was the best I've had. One of my go to coffee places. Forever seems to have all the things on the menu when it comes to matcha or any special coffees. I have gone to their other two locations (which is hit or miss for the drinks I want) and found that their downtown location is usually the best stocked on ingredients. They have a good breakfast menu selection (Filipino style). They have special events on certain weekends. It looks like people like to hang out there to work or just hang out. Love the decor, it is a vibe inside with the beautiful artwork. The amount of detail they put into the materials used and the tables and chairs make it a fun place to hang out; I even love the bathroom decor. Pros: one of my favorite drinks is the strawberry matcha. Sometimes I make it a dirty strawberry matcha (add an espresso) which helps me with focusing my attention for intense work days (it's a neuroscience hack; look up Em on the Brain). My other favorite drinks which is only during the holidays is Xmas in '87. I love their steak and fried rice dish. Full of flavor and their sauce is spicy. Another favorite is the loco moco. The staff are super friendly and they recognize me since I go pretty regularly. One time I forgot to get my drink hot and they made it cold. The staff member said it was no big deal and that he was willing to make it again even though I tried to pay for another one since it was my mistake. Cons: it is downtown so parking can be really hit or miss. During the weekends, it's pretty busy so I usually have a hard time finding parking. read more

The bread was good and warm but the rest of the sandwich was cold and the cheese was not melted. There was 2 little thin slices of ham and that was it. I couldn't even finish it so I wasted $20. The Hashbrown is like the McDonald's hashbrown so it wasn't anything special but it's definitely not worth $5. I also got the ube latte. They have a wider variety of drinks that seem fun. It was good, not too sweet. The staff was really nice and the food came out fast, but I can tell it came out fast because it wasn't properly prepared. It gets tight, shoulder-to-shoulder, and honestly pretty cramped. Seating is extremely limited during peak brunch hours, so if you're coming with a group, I highly recommend having one person stay in line to order while the others scout for a table. Otherwise, you'll be stuck standing around with your food and nowhere to sit. We ordered the strawberry matcha, longanisa sando, ube french toast, and the steak and rice. Strawberry matcha was good, longanisa sando was solid, and the ube french toast was pretty standard. The standout, though, was definitely the steak and rice -- super flavorful and easily the best thing we tried. Fortunately, someone was nice enough to free up a connecting table, but beware seating options may be limited during peak hours. With a Filipino/Hawaiian style menu, there was definitely a lot going for it. However, when we went at 10:30 AM, they had run out of a lot of the meat options so they had a limited menu. Here is what I ordered: Avocado toast (3/5): They ran out of the tea eggs so they substituted with scrambled eggs. The toast was a bit thin so avocado spread soaked through. It was okay but probably would have been nice having the tea egg to provide that spin. I also got to try my friend's ube toast (4.5/5) and that was actually pretty good. It had a good amount of ube flavor and there was good amount of creaminess with the toast that made it great. Maybe a little bit too much cream? But if I ever did go back, that is probably what I would get. Service was friendly. There was street parking available near the restaurant. Free on Sundays! In a nutshell; Good cafe to stop by at downtown/midtown sac if youre ever strolling in the area. It was rather lively entering the cafe, was a bit busy but there wasnt that too bad of a line, though one can imagine of how the layout is, it can get rather crowded around the area where you place your order. The food and beverages though has to be the highlight of the cafe, having been to 18 grams, one expects the same or better quality of food experience and it doesnt disappoint.
