    Quesadilla

Awesome spot, great staff, and delicious Indian food. Would get a thousand times again: quesadilla, butter chicken, naan, and dessert ice cream and cookies. I'd skip: the fries. They were good but I've had better at other Indian spots.

Absolutely phenomenal! This is hands-down one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. My boyfriend found this place years ago and we come back every single time we come to LA. Every dish bursts with flavor, perfectly spiced, and cooked to perfection. From the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth naan to the rich and creamy butter chicken, everything tasted authentic and fresh. The service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance made it feel both cozy and vibrant. It's like family here and we're here for it! Highly recommend this spot to anyone craving real, delicious Indian food. Can't wait to come back!

Came here with some friends who don't have the most experience with Indian food. The area used to be so fun, it's a big dirty around there and there isn't valet parking. We got lucky with street parking but make sure you leave enough time to find a spot...and maybe don't leave anything valuable in your car. It's a spacious dining room and it wasn't too busy. We ordered samosas immediately - original & butter chicken. Butter chicken was sooo good - sadly the original one we could have done without. For mains, we ate family style and split: Chicken Tikka Masala, Masala Fries, Sag Paneer, Butter Chicken, Rice, and Rosemary Naan. The butter chicken and the masala fries were the standouts to us. One rice is good for 2 people to share. Overall it was great portions, quick service, and tasty food. We didn't have enough room for dessert but it is cute they give Double Bubble bubble gum with the check!

First time trying Badmaash on Fairfax! I've been to the downtown location several times and it has always been good. the other day we were driving down Fairfax and actually saw a parking meter available in front of the restaurant so we thought this was our lucky day! We decided to get some poutine fries! Looking at the menu, the spicy sausage also looked good. So we ordered that and it turns out that it is indeed the bomb!! Everyone working here is cool and the place is nice and cozy and cute. If it was a bit cheaper, I'd probably eat here more often, but on the special occasions that I do make it, it's always delightful!

4.5 I've been meaning to go here for a while! The butter chicken samosa was really good and VERY filling! The fries were SO GOOD too! They were crispy and spiced so well. My friend and I devoured our food :P I'll definitely go back to try their tandoori wings and maybe even the Parle G dessert.

I had wanted to try Badmaash for a while, and ended up coming here for a dinner with strangers event. I love trying new flavors/combos, so contemporary Indian fusion sounded great to me! I usually like to order for the table and share everything family style, but we stuck to ordering our own dishes since we weren't sure about everyone's palettes. However, we did start with a bottle of orange wine for the table. Super refreshing. It was one that our server recommended so I don't quite remember what it was, but 8/10. For food, I ordered the Chicken Tikka Poutine (masala fries topped with cheesecurds, with beef gravy, topped with tandoori chicken tikka and cilantro). According to Yelp, this dish is super popular, so I thought I'd give it a try. I love fries/poutine, and chicken tikka so it felt like a good move. The overall flavors worked, but the chicken was overcooked and dry, the gravy was rather bland, and the cheesecurds were sparse and didn't melt because the dish was room temperature when I got it. 5/10. For me, the concept was definitely better than the execution, though I would order it again just to see if I just happened to get a sub par version of this popular dish. I'd also like to come back to try the other items, since I wasn't able to really get a taste of the full menu this time. Service was good and the restaurant itself is pretty good for groups. A comfortable lunch or dinner spot.

Summary: It's very alright, for people trying indian cuisine, it isn't bad. The service is amazing and the store is nice, personally for me the tables are set too close together. It's a good place to try if you want to try, but it lacks authenticity and execution for fusion food. Butter Chicken: 4.75/10 Personally for me the butter chicken wasn't terrible, it was very average for me. The chicken itself was a bit dry and the sauce felt a little watered down instead of having its normal thick consistency. Overall, very average, for the price, kind of lack luster, I would try butter chicken somewhere else. (5/10 is very average for me, its under due to the dryness of the chicken.) Chicken Poutine: 5.25 I enjoyed the poutine significantly more than the butter chicken. The chicken was cooked and seasoned well, it wasn't drenched in gravy and had a good amount of cheese curds. The fries were very nice, crispy and seasoned, exactly what you want with fries. Sadly, I feel like the attempt to add indian fusion wasn't the best. Seperate, the chicken had pretty strong seasoning, but all together just tastes like normal poutine, the gravy and cheese curds kind of overpowered it for me. Honestly the chicken from here mixed with the butter chicken was really good. Decent poutine, not really good fusion food tbh. Crispy Yogurt Puffs: 5.75/10 This was very interesting, definitely something to try, but personally I wouldn't try again. The tamarind was very overpowering and leaves a super sour taste. The texture and consistency is pretty good, but I personally wouldn't order again. If your pallet leans more sour I would suggest trying but personally not for me.

Came here for a work dinner. What an absolutely lovely place and lovely service. Be aware everything here is a tad expensive. First of all - everything was super tasty. Special shout out to their sauces, their garlic naan, and the tiki masala. We went during a weekday at around 5:30/6 and it started to get busier as the night progressed so make sure to make a reservation. Street parking so be prepared to add some time in the event it's packed.

I enjoyed a meal at Badmaash with my friend on a Friday evening. We had a reservation and were seated upon arrival. The restaurant was dimly lit and had a moody intimate ambiance. The server explained the various sections of the menu and gave us time to make our choices. Crispy Yogurt Puffs (5/5) - These panpuri were a flavor explosion. I loved the different textures that came with eating a puff in one bite. Traditional Samosa (3/5) - The samosa exterior was crispy and the interior was stuffed with potatoes and peas. We didn't love the high ratio of peas to potatoes. Butter Chicken Samosa (3/5) - This samosa was equally crispy on the outside and stuffed with butter chicken chunks on the inside. I wish the butter masala flavor was stronger and there was more of the sauce on the inside. Aloo Golbi (3/5) - Solid cauliflower and potato curry with plenty of curry to be enjoyed with our naan and rice. Paneer Tikka Masala (3/5) - I was a tad underwhelmed with the tikka masala flavor but it was still tasty with the naan and basmati rice. Chai-Spiced Chocolate Pot du Creme (3/5) - This was a rich and dense chocolate pudding that paired well with the hot chai. The chai flavor in the pot du creme was overpowered by the chocolate. Bombay Cutting Chai (5/5) - The chai was a great way to end our meal. The ambiance was great for us to have a private conversation and chat all night. However, I didn't love the menu prices but it's to be expected on Fairfax.

BUTTER CHICKEN, ROSEMARY NAAN, BASMATI RICE, and CHICKEN TIKKA POUTINE
    Ashley M.

Yelpers, please bear with me. This was my first time trying Indian cuisine. Let's first talk about highlights: the restaurant seated our party of two promptly without a reservation, and the service was both quick and attentive throughout the meal. We ordered the poutine, and the fries were a highlight. They were crisp and well-seasoned. The chicken in our dishes were also prepared well, with juicy, clean cuts. Shortcomings: I would say the rosemary naan was rather bland. The thinner grains of the basmati rice gave it a somewhat glossy/plasticky texture and did not tie well into eating it with the butter chicken. The butter chicken was not something I personally enjoyed. Although it was buttery and creamy tomato puree, it lacked a depth of flavors from aromatic spices and onion that I expected. Overall, I would MAYBE give Badmaash a second chance but a solid 2.5/5 for now.

Exquisite. We were at the Grove shopping and didn't want to wait in long line at the food places there, so here we are. We came here a day before Christmas Eve, there was no line. Service: Hottest is very kind and attentive, gave us a few table options. Server is very professional, gave us some great, *honest*, useful recommendations as we both aren't super familiar with Indian food. Food: I don't know what you are doing if you never had Badmaash at least once Butter Chicken Samosas (10/10): Best samosas I had in my life! Their handmade Punjabi Samosas are handmade fresh everyday, the waiter told us there were only three left and we ordered 2 as our apetisser-- best decision we did! The sauce is soooooo good!! It's flavourful, complex, yet not heavy!! MUST ORDER. Spiced Lamb Burger (9.5/10) Amazing, must order if you love lamb I have never had a lamb burger and ordered it because of the creative fusion idea. BUT it actually turns out beyond expectation-- crispy toasted bun, juicy and fresh lamb, refreshing lettuce (not just a thin piece). The spice covers the lamb taste, which I think this is hard to hate on! Even if it's not lamb, it's a very good burger and not just gimmick and no taste! Good job South Indian "Fish Moilee" (9/10): If you're tired of Thai curry, this is something shares similar DNA but more refreshing and surprising! The coconut moilee curry in this dish remind me of red curry/ jade curry in Thai cuisine, but this has more spice. So it's less "heavy" than coconut heavy Thai curry. It's also light to medium spicy, but not overly spicy that covers the taste of everything. However: For the price, I wish it has more fish, or at least comes with rice like most curry dishes in other restaurants.. Ambiance: This is a delicious food place, it may be not the best instagram spot It's a cute place for food lover to come have dinner, good for date nights and friends gathering (their appetiser selection is wide, I would be very happy to come here with a group of friends to catch up). It's clean, their table is extendable (our waiter came to extend the table when there are more dishes, love the detail Opinion: I don't know what you are doing if you never been to Badmaash, this is not an ad, they just serve creative fusion dishes and not gimmicky-- no pretentious server Warm hospitality, waiter knows what to recommend and don't give generic advice. At the end of the dinner, our waiter offered us complimentary chai and bubble gums. Which really warms me up during winter nights, definitely coming back again! Still want to try out a few other dishes! Well done Badmaash FairFax team, thank you!

Chicken Tika Poutine, naan, rice, eggplant dish
    Yeni A.

Amazing! I thought I'd tasted the best places for Indian food but omg this place is just a step above. We had the butter chicken (out of this world delicious), braised beef short rib (melts in your mouth), the vegan eggplant dish ( I don't particularly care for eggplant but this dish made me a believer) and the chicken poutine (best part was the sauce on top of the fries). Quoting Rachel Ray "Yumm-O!" The food was spectacular. All the flavor combinations were specific and perfect. The service was lovely. Chris couldn't have more courteous, friendly and accommodating. My one comment would be that the chairs were not particularly comfortable, but I will not be deducting any points for that because the food was exquisite. Next time I'll make sure to grab the booth. Do your mouth a favor and go to Badmaash. You'll be glad you did. :)

This is the culinary experience I wish every Indian food lover could have. While it might be a local favorite, the food is simply divine. From the moment you're greeted and welcomed, to the anticipation of your dish being delivered, and finally, the burst of flavors that hit your taste buds, it's an unforgettable journey. The authenticity of the food is so profound that you can't help but feel like you're in your own country. It's rare to find such an exceptional dining experience, and I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Indian cuisine.

    Is there a kids menu?

Definitely not that I saw at dinner. It was upscale Indian with many wine options, music, not a kid type spot. Been there 3 times for dinner and zero kids in sight. Maybe lunch is different but I did not get a kid vibe for this spot.

My first glass of champagne was unfortunately flat and pretty gross but to their credit they replaced it immediately once I mentioned it. Still, for an upscale restaurant, that was a little annoying to begin with. For food, we got the asparagus, burger, fries, abalone, and the bluefin tuna belly deviled eggs. The trout was cooked well, and seasoned nicely, but the purple cauliflower puree, for me, didn't come together in terms of presentation for the dish. The pistachio pesto pasta was very flavorful, mixing in the burrata on top and then the little pops of spice from the chili flakes.. Just a nice bite. Finally was the double wagyu burger with caramelized onions, American cheese and a sauce emulsified with bacon. Very tasty, and those caramelized onions just added another level to each bite. We arrived shortly before 5pm to enjoy a bit of the happy hour menu before dinner. We were greeted and offered a table by the bar near the screens with the condition that we needed to be done by 6:30. Well that wasn't going to work because the game started at 6pm. We sat ourselves at the end of the bar about 20 feet from the two tv screens...perfect! The good: the space is beautiful. Warm pretzel bites with fondue were amazing. The garlic fries were crispy. The Sangria was delicious. The bad: bar service was minimal despite a sparse crowd at the bar. I had to reach across the bar counter to grab myself drink coasters for my Sangria, beer, water and my friend's beverage because the condensation kept dripping on my clothes. The bar tender never bothered to come back and check how my cocktail was as most bar tenders do. The fact that there were three makes it more astounding. The really bad: there was a power outage in the restaurant (not the entire block) 5 minutes before kickoff. 10-15 minutes into the game the power came back on but only one tv was functional. Early on there was a bit of a rush to rectify the matter but as time went on, it seemed to become a non-issue despite concern from those around the bar that we couldn't watch the game. No apologies were offered by management at the time. Not even water was offered a jester of good faith while they sorted out the issue. Like a few others, we decided to cut our losses and left at half time. The buzz at the bar was to meet at Lucky Strikes to finish watching the game. Prior to leaving I approached a woman who seemed concerned with the tv malfunction and asked if she was part of the management. She responded that she was and I proceeded to explain my utter disappointment in the experience. She looked profoundly distraught with my observations...At least that's what I told myself in order to not feel like this had been a complete waste of time. We left without having dinner while watching the game. What a shame because the menu sounded appealing. Oh, BTW the high top table in front of the tv was still vacant by the time we left at half time. Not sure it would've mattered because the tv was malfunctioning anyway. I am truly puzzled by what made the author of the article think that The Henry would be a great place to catch a game of any sort. Our server, the space, decor, location and menu items we tried were amazing. The overall attention to detail, attentiveness to customers and overall experience was not one that I would recommend on a Friday night during the World Cup. CLEARLY, the author missed his mark on this one. Oddly enough, we ran into four others from The Henry at Lucky Strikes. No electricity/media issues there.
