Yay a second location for Bafang Dumplings in the US and the second in the SGV area. The first in City of Industry next to Puente Hills mall. So if you've visited the original location you know exactly what this place is all about. Yes this is a franchise brought from Taiwan. Yes the prices in the US are significantly higher then they are in Taiwan. But they are expanding Taiwanese cuisine to the mass market so no complaints there! There menu is pretty much dumplings/potstickers, combos, noodles, sides, soups and drinks. The potstickers either come in 12pcs or 6 pcs or in the combo set. The are pan fried to perfect crispiness with that crust on the bottom. They aren't super full of filling with either the signature or kimchi versions. So it definitely needs the garlic soy dipping sauce/hot sauce. The corn chowder is exactly like it is in Taiwan with little pieces of pork inside. This is delicious on those cold raining days. Overall i'd say the combo sets are more of a large snack then an actual meal. You most likely won't be very full but just satisfied finishing the entire set. They do offer side dishes and frozen dumplings togo for those looking. They don't many vegan/vegetarian options though. Not bad, not good. It was my first time at Bafang Dumpling and it was an okay experience. I got their 12-piece dumplings, corn soup, and their soy milk with mango. After asking the worker what goes into their drink, it is a combination of their soy milk and mango syrup. If you are not a fan of syrup then I would suggest getting their other drinks. The dumpling themselves were good, light, and clean. Adding shredded cabbage helped keep the meal light. One thing I was disappointed with was the crispy bottoms of the dumplings. It can be best described as hard, not crispy. The skin on the dumpling was sticky and chewy and often its own form. The corn soup was definitely the star of the show. It had an interesting texture of watery, but also thick. The flavor was good and clean and the bits of pork and corn were a great addition. I've mentioned bafang dumpling to my husband because we have been meaning to visit the one that had opened in city of industry. After hearing that this was a popular restaurant from Taiwan, I really wanted to try. It was a Wednesday night, rainy winter weather, so it wasn't too busy. We ordered at the register and picked a seat to enjoy our dinner. You pick up the food at the counter when your buzzer goes off. There is a condiments table by the front door. There are options of black vinegar, soy sauce, hot sauce, and a few others I can't recall. The dumplings were nice and tender. Didn't have a thick wrap, and the the filling was a good ratio and wasn't dry. I wish the spicy wontons were a little spicier, and the corn chowder was alright. I would prefer Hong Kong cafe corn soup. Sesame noodles had a nice bounce and plenty of sesame flavor. Overall, we were really pleased and would definitely one back to try other stuff on the menu! Bafang potstickers - nice chew to the wrapper with a nice crisp on one side, filling was cabbage and pork I believe, real yummy and surprisingly filling (I didn't personally eat the chicken ones but heard they were great too!) Bafang noodles - sesame sauce, noodles had a nice al dente chew to them, cooked really well Beef noodle soup - my favorite item of the meal! like the Bafang noodles, these noodles were cooked perfectly with a nice chew. The broth was really flavorful and it contained perfect cuts of beef - about 4 or 5 big chunks in the one order. This one order was enough for 2 of us! We had ordered to go and didn't realize until we arrived back home that they had forgotten the chicken potstickers in our order. We returned and right away, Quan (or Kwan) provided above and beyond service! Not only did they expedite the making our missing item for us, but they also provided us with some extra freshly-made Bafang potstickers and iced tea for the inconvenience. I get their #1 which is their signature dumplings with a side or soup or a lemon black tea. Their hot and sour soup is good. Their dumplings are juicy and has a nice crispy bottom. I also tried their old fashioned noodle ($6.95) which are good, it came with chopped green onions and bean sprouts with a soy sauce and shallot sauce. They have a table to make dipping sauces: garlic sauce, sesame sauce, black vinegar, and soy sauce. They also make soy milk based tea; their oolong milktea ($4.50) is good. Boba is chewy. Seating can get filled quickly, lines go fast. They give a beeper when you order but they do yell out your number before it goes off. read more

I thought their corn chowder was all corn, but it's actually corn with other veggies in it and more porridge like. It was my least favorite, but that's on me for expecting an all corn based soup. The second location ever in the U.S.! My first time trying the dumplings was at the original location in Puente Hills and man was that line super long. The wait here was much better parking was a breeze too. I had to order the classic dishes of course so I got the Bafang Signature and Kimchi & Pork Potstickers. My favorite will always be the kimchi since I love the slight tang that comes with every bite. The bottom was slightly crispy which complimented the chewiness of the dumpling skin. You really can't go wrong with the signature though. Taking a bite is like a warm hug - a comforting, delicious meal that makes you feel at home. The worker mentioned that the Chili Pepper Fried Chicken was a popular dish so you best believe I ordered it. Upon first bite, I was immediately reminded of the flavoring of popcorn chicken. It tasted so good especially since it was crispy and the chili sauce actually provided a slight kick! I wish the chicken was cut into smaller pieces though so it would be easier to share and take bites out of. I also tried the Bafang Signature Noodle and the noodles were so springy and chewy - my favorite texture for noodles. We were looking for a quick meal in the Chino Hills area and came across Bafang Dumpling which had decent reviews, so we decided to check it out. The place was bright and airy, and we were greeted upon arrival. The menu is posted over the cash register where you place your order before sitting down. Being that I was not familiar with their food, I asked for assistance and was steered to their signature dumplings and pot stickers. We ordered the Combo #1 (Signature potstickers plus either tea or soup) and Combo #5 (Signature dumplings plus either tea or soup). Both items were priced at $11.75 each. We paid and were given a buzzer that would go off when our meal was ready. The place was really busy, with many people coming in for take out orders. It took about 10 minutes for our food to be ready. The potstickers are different from the ones you see in most restaurants. These are elongated rather than a dumpling shape. They were freshly fried on one side which gave them a nice crispy texture while being soft and juicy inside. They seemed to be filled with a combination of chicken and pork along with the usually cabbage and onion. The filling was tasty but light on the seasoning which is typical of Taiwanese food. They had a sauce station with a chile sauce (similar to sambal), spiced vinegar, soy sauce, and their signature garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was nice. The vinegar had an interesting spice that I couldn't put my finger on. It was nice mixed with the soy sauce or the ginger sauce. The dumplings were steamed and had the same filling as the potstickers. The big difference was that the flavor was even more subtle since there was no pan frying like the potstickers. These definitely needed sauce to punch up the flavor. We also had their lemon black tea which was served in a cup with sealed cellophane on top, similar to boba. We were surprised that it was a sweet tea. It was refreshing but we would have rather had an unsweetened black tea. We also had the hot & sour soup which was a bit of a disappointment. While it had the right ingredients and texture, it was rather bland. In other words, it was neither hot/spicy nor sour. Overall, it was a filling lunch. If I ever have the chance to go back, I'd rather share an order of potstickers and also order one of their noodle dishes. I'll be skipping the tea and the soup though. read more

I booked it to the line to place my order and I was in AWWW with the Interior and Layout of Bafang. The condiments are stationed by the door. However, the seating of this place is crowded, and the AC was blowing cold air in the middle of winter. This is a really casual and delicious spot for dumplings, noodles and soups. You order at the front and it's self seating, so if it's busy you kind of have to snag a table really fast. The atmosphere is bustling and lively, so I'd recommend going here if your group is large. We ordered the signature noodles, wonton soup and kimchi & pork potstickers. All around very solid dishes, but I'd recommend you get the noodle dish over anything else. Perfectly cooked to al dente with a creamy, nutty and slightly spicy salt, it was flavortown in my mouth baby. The dumplings were good, I would have preferred if the filling was a bit more flavorful and I think it was definitely more kimchi forward.
