They have a lot of reasonable combo s - I went with the 6 Signature Potstickers + signature noodle combo. I like how the dumpling and noodle combo allows you to pick which dumpling and noodle dishes you want. Food was very flavorful. It's a very spacious restaurant with plenty of seating. It could definitely be cleaner! I feel like there was trash throughout the restaurant on the floor and the sauce area was messy and not attended to. Went with a group of people-the following three weeks afterwards was a nightmare for all of us in the group. Each one of us had food poisoning so bad and intense stomach pain that did not subside until the second week. GI symptoms persisted past that for another week. We are going to be submitting a foodborne illness complaint to the San Diego Food Health Department. While the food tasted good, I cannot recommend this place purely from a perspective of food safety. There are many places in Mira mesa that offer the same quality of dim sum or better, but without the added detriment of foodborne illness. Stay away. read more

3 years later and this place is still open. I stopped by to get some grub I could munch on for one of my latest trips back to the desert. Now that the hype has long died down, it's pretty empty. The place wasn't busy when I stopped in last. Employees didn't seem to have a sense of urgency. The dining room is kept pretty clean, with the occasional mess at the sauce station. This time around, I got the wonton soup combo with the pan fried dumplings. Yummm!!! The wonton soup was pretty damn good, although it could use a tad more salt in my opinion. Prices have gone up of course, but the combos are still reasonable for what you get. Parking isn't usually an issue here at this shopping plaza, but it can be challenging during peak times. This place is great for a quick bite and have plenty of combo options. I enjoyed the dumplings and noodles, while my sister had the wonton soup. The noodles had a tingly after taste from the spice. Personally I wouldn't repurchase the noodles but rather try something else. The dumplings had a nice crunch layer on the outside and soft on the inside. At the counter you can even purchase frozen dumplings. Sauce is in the way back and didn't even realize until after the meal. Wish the servers informed me at least when I got my food. There's also a self kiosk that you can order from to. They'll give you a buzzer and buzz you when your food is ready. Then you pick any table and get your sauces/water. The noodles were good and saucy. The potstickers were good but just like any other potstickers. I think this place is good to eat once in a while cause it can be a bit oily. I also like that they package it in a ToGo container incase you don't finish it. If you finish you, you'll put your tray in the tray area. I used to really like Bafang for the strong value and good taste but things have not been as good recently. We really liked getting a drink + dumping + noodle combo and the non-spicy beef noodle soup unfortunately, Bafang has discontinued their drinks which were in my opinion a strong part of the menu. The beef noodle soup is still quite good, with a generous size and a decent amount of meat but they have cut back on the veggies, I counted only two bak chois in my very large bowl which was disappointing. I couldn't really taste the spice though, but it was crispy, and breading reminded me of popcorn chicken with dark meat. One of my favorite restaurants in Mira Mesa! I try to come by when I'm on my way to something nearby, especially if I haven't been in a while. I love the potstickers, they're my favorite. The combo I order always involves them in some way. This time I had the #2 with the wonton soup, because it was a drizzly day and soup sounded good. The soup was good, but the broth was a little bland so I added some of the sauces to it to ramp it up a little. I've also gotten the noodles before, which I liked. I'm not a huge fan of very plain food, though, so what I didn't eat right away got a lot of toppings added to it when I ate them as leftovers. They package everything well, so it's easy to take home. I've tried this place a few times and I really like their signature potstickers with pork and cabbage. They have good flavor and I like the crispy finish. The last time I went they had a picture of the pork chop bowl with braised pork belly rice on the window. My friend and I thought it looked good so we both decided to try it. The pork chop was battered and tender. The rice was really flavorful. Definitely, a dish I would have again. Here's my issue with the restaurant..the few times I have eaten here, the tables are dirty. If you sit at a table, you have to clean it yourself. Originally, we had planned on going to elsewhere, but since they closed at 2PM, we ended up searching "Asian Food" on Yelp...what popped up first on my search was Bafang Dumpling. I wouldn't exactly compare it to Din Tai Fung, however, if you have a hankering for quick, inexpensive Taiwanese food, this is the spot for you. The girl that rang us up was a bit dismissive and rude, probably a high schooler. But I digress. What mattered most was the food at that point since we were starving. And it did not disappoint. I decided on Combo 4: 6 piece Signature Potstickers and Signature Noodles. The noodles had a spicy kick and were cooked well. The crispness of the potstickers was delightful and my favorite part of the meal. It was quite filling and I only ate about half of the noodle bowl before passing it on to the co-habby to finish up for me. Quite tasty, especially for just under $14 for this meal. The co-habby got a $10 bowl which had Pork Chop with Braised Pork Belly over rice. He said it was decent but preferred my combo over his bowl. The menu is simple and solid. As a Taiwanese American, I was expected a little more. Beef noodle soup for $17.50 the size is pretty large, 4-5 large pieces of beef but under-seasoned. Broth was ok, not enough depth of flavor a the noodles were slightly overcooked. Potstickers were basic, skin was not as crispy and the filling's flavors were in the bland side, but the seasoned soy sauce was a little too salty. The $10 pork chop bento actually had great flavor on the rice and braised pork belly. The pork chop had good flavor but texture was not snappy enough. Wonton soup broth was actually well seasoned and the wonton were very tasty. Not much service, you pick up your own order and find own seating. Need to wipe down your own tables. Bafang Dumpling reminds me of authentic Taiwanese noodles, beef and potstickers! The spicy noodles were just the right amount chili oil in our noodle soup! The service is great and friendly! There is a self service kiosk for fast ordering during lunch time rush hour! It was thoughtful by the company to have most foods packaged in Togo containers in case you cannot finish your meal. We tried a little of everything. We ordered Kimchi dumplings, Spicy Wontons, Bafang Signature Potstickers, Beef Dry Noodle Soup, and Mala Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. This is the first Ba Fang restaurant I've tried in California 6 months ago. They have since opened a restaurant in Santa Clara, which is closer to me in Silicon Valley. This time we came back to San Diego, we brought our college kid here. He enjoyed it too! We recommend their beef noodle soup (it's big and shareable) and their combo #2. I didn't want to try this place as one sister and cousin said they didn't like it. We are all beef noodle soup fans. Then another sister said the beef noodle soup was pretty good here as well as their dumplings. I've visited this location a few times now and have been happy overall. The BNS servings (for to go orders) are generous, well packaged, and freshly made. The mala version is also spicy enough for heat enthusiasts out there. Their online ordering system is well done except you can't make additional requests (extra pickled veggies, etc). However, you are able to ask them for it when you pick up your order (I guess depending on who's working the front that day). Luckily, the staff has always been pretty cool when we've picked up our orders. The beef noodle soup broth is decent - not as rich and umami but enough flavor where it satisfies a BNS-fix. There's not that much meat (maybe 4 pieces) and the pieces are a nice size. Not too tender but more of a chew. The pork chop rice was ok. One time the pork chop was dry and not good at all. The second visit we ordered the bowl and it was awesome. The minced pork meat (on top of rice) was amazing but not enough of it. The pork chop this time was moist and flavorful. They also have a promo now where you get a free order of dumplings with a $50 gift card. So take advantage of that for sure. We went here when they first opened. So decided to return and try other items. The first time here, I didn't like the noodles with peanut butter (maybe my personal preference is without PB) but dumplings were good. So decided to return this week and ordered the special with 6 fried and 6 steamed dumplings and upgraded soup to wonton soup. My husband and I split it for lunch and we both enjoyed the wonton soup. We decided to return again the same week to get the wonton soup again but also ordered 12 fried signature dumplings and fried pork. All were good. Our fave is the wonton soup, the pork chop tasted like Char Sui pork so we enjoyed it too. I like making my own dipping sauce with black vinegar, soy sauce and sesame oil instead of their sauce. Cashier was good and since it's a to go order, the system didn't ask me to give a tip (there was no jar for tips or I would put in a few dollar bills). It has 1/2 portion of pork chop + generous scoop of super tender pork belly, pickled radish, and rice. It's an amazing deal and highly recommend you get that as your first item if you're new to Bafang. Service is always good. I tend to place my orders via phone call and it's always a smooth experience. The place is modern and plenty of seating which is an option if you want to dine in instead. I do noticed there is a chef that is not executing at the same level as the others. Even though we tend to order the same stuff we noticed it taste sufficiently different on certain days. I drove all the way from Chula Vista and I'd do it again. The restaurant is simple and clean. There is not a trash can in sight! If you walk towards the restroom, there's an area for you to discard your trash and return your tray. I ordered the boba milk tea, spicy wontons, and hot and sour soup. It was the perfect meal for under $20 and my meal came out pretty quick. The spicy wontons had the perfect flavor and texture. The prices here are very reasonable. There is a sauce station near the front door to create dipping sauces as well as a water dispenser to help yourself to water cups. The only thing I didn't like is they flipped my milk tea upside down on my tray. I don't trust that the serving trays are properly cleaned and leaving it right side up would've made more sense.
