3 years later and this place is still open. I stopped by to get some grub I could munch on for one of my latest trips back to the desert. Now that the hype has long died down, it's pretty empty. The place wasn't busy when I stopped in last. Employees didn't seem to have a sense of urgency. The dining room is kept pretty clean, with the occasional mess at the sauce station. This time around, I got the wonton soup combo with the pan fried dumplings. Yummm!!! The wonton soup was pretty damn good, although it could use a tad more salt in my opinion. Prices have gone up of course, but the combos are still reasonable for what you get. Parking isn't usually an issue here at this shopping plaza, but it can be challenging during peak times. Bafang Dumpling continues to be a solid choice in my rotation!

Dear diary, Came here for a quick dinner and it did not disappoint. The place was more of a cafeteria vibe where you order, pay, grab your food and find a seat. The dumplings were soft and the stuffing was great. The soup was very appetizing. For the price that they are, we were pretty stuffed so it was definitely worth it. There are plenty of parking in the plaza and the seating area is pretty big as well. Definitely give it a shot if you're in the area.

ate here mostly for the nostalgia, and it still hits the spot. i love the signature potstickers and the sauce that comes with them. they're super juicy on the inside with the perfect amount of crispy crust on the outside. the corn chowder was decent, but i wished it had a stronger corn flavor.

Amazing food! Their combos are an amazing deal, it is fairly priced and the dumplings, potstickers, and noodles all remind me of traditional home cooked style. There are many flavors and options to choose from and size portions are filling. It is self service style where they call your order number and you grab the tray. They also have a self service sauce bar. The interior is very clean and modern. The area is very spacious and not too busy!

Got the fried chicken with a bowl of rice on the side and pork belly bowl.

Yummy food for great price! Finally got to try this place, it's always packed whenever we pass by it. I can see why. It's so flavorful and probably one of the cheapest meals I've had for such a yummy rice plate. I'm looking forward to trying their other menu items. Highly recommend and will got back again! Note, it's nothing fancy. It's simply really yummy and filling for the price point.

We went here when they first opened. So decided to return and try other items. The first time here, I didn't like the noodles with peanut butter (maybe my personal preference is without PB) but dumplings were good. So decided to return this week and ordered the special with 6 fried and 6 steamed dumplings and upgraded soup to wonton soup. My husband and I split it for lunch and we both enjoyed the wonton soup. We decided to return again the same week to get the wonton soup again but also ordered 12 fried signature dumplings and fried pork. All were good. Our fave is the wonton soup, the pork chop tasted like Char Sui pork so we enjoyed it too. I like making my own dipping sauce with black vinegar, soy sauce and sesame oil instead of their sauce. Cashier was good and since it's a to go order, the system didn't ask me to give a tip (there was no jar for tips or I would put in a few dollar bills). The restaurant is simple and clean and they have interesting decor. Will be back....

Food on the seats and lots of marks on the walls.

Visited the site during the week and there were few people ordering and almost non eating there. There were two employees preparing the food. Ordered the dumplings with sweet and sour soup. We also ordered the noodles and chicken on rice with potstickers specials. Smelled delicious but potstickers and dumplings tasted too similar. They served us at the table but left a cup for Pepsi drinks. Our seats were dirty, as was the wall next to us. Had to take a pic for proof. Now I know why most don't eat there..

We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was not overly busy, we were told to order using the tablet. We ordered an order of their signature potstickers, spicy noodles bowl, and their pork chop with pork belly rice. Overall not really impressed with the service, as it over 30 minutes to get our food. Consistently the employees kept disappearing, we saw 3 employees working in the kitchen, where one was always using her food as she was handling the food. Not sure if she washed her hands after each time she used her phone, yuck. Also the food was ok, I was expecting more, but it was served lukewarm as like it sat there for a while. So worth trying, maybe you'll get better service than we did.

I've tried this place a few times and I really like their signature potstickers with pork and cabbage. They have good flavor and I like the crispy finish. The last time I went they had a picture of the pork chop bowl with braised pork belly rice on the window. My friend and I thought it looked good so we both decided to try it. The pork chop was battered and tender. The rice was really flavorful. Definitely, a dish I would have again. Here's my issue with the restaurant..the few times I have eaten here, the tables are dirty. If you sit at a table, you have to clean it yourself. I also have never witnessed an employee actively cleaning. The water and sauce area is also very dirty. Sauce everywhere. I would feel much better about this restaurant if it were cleaner in general.

Bafang Dumpling is a Taiwanese restaurant chain that has made its way to San Diego! I'm so glad they did. There's nothing more comforting than some noodles and dumplings. This fast casual style restaurant is very clean and spacious. There is plenty of space to enjoy your meal and they have a bunch of sauces in the back available whether you're dining in or taking out. They have digital ordering boards or you can order at the counter. I got the sesame noodles and dumplings. They have dumplings and potstickers, but I wanted soft dumplings. I was very impressed by the food. It was really good! You can purchase frozen dumpling bags to go if you'd like to make these at home!

Dumplings on the go at reasonable prices? Yes please! Originally, we had planned on going to elsewhere, but since they closed at 2PM, we ended up searching "Asian Food" on Yelp...what popped up first on my search was Bafang Dumpling. I wouldn't exactly compare it to Din Tai Fung, however, if you have a hankering for quick, inexpensive Taiwanese food, this is the spot for you. The girl that rang us up was a bit dismissive and rude, probably a high schooler. But I digress. What mattered most was the food at that point since we were starving. And it did not disappoint. I decided on Combo 4: 6 piece Signature Potstickers and Signature Noodles. The noodles had a spicy kick and were cooked well. The crispness of the potstickers was delightful and my favorite part of the meal. It was quite filling and I only ate about half of the noodle bowl before passing it on to the co-habby to finish up for me. Quite tasty, especially for just under $14 for this meal. The co-habby got a $10 bowl which had Pork Chop with Braised Pork Belly over rice. He said it was decent but preferred my combo over his bowl. The menu is simple and solid. We will definitely return there for lunch or dinner the next time we are in Mira Mesa.

Was excited to finally try Bafang San Diego. Place is clean and bright, menu well labeled, seating is ample. Food, personally felt a little bland. As a Taiwanese American, I was expected a little more. Beef noodle soup for $17.50 the size is pretty large, 4-5 large pieces of beef but under-seasoned. Broth was ok, not enough depth of flavor a the noodles were slightly overcooked. Potstickers were basic, skin was not as crispy and the filling's flavors were in the bland side, but the seasoned soy sauce was a little too salty. The $10 pork chop bento actually had great flavor on the rice and braised pork belly. The pork chop had good flavor but texture was not snappy enough. Wonton soup broth was actually well seasoned and the wonton were very tasty. Not much service, you pick up your own order and find own seating. Need to wipe down your own tables. Overall I might come back for the wonton soup and pork chip rice.

This is the first Ba Fang restaurant I've tried in California 6 months ago. They have since opened a restaurant in Santa Clara, which is closer to me in Silicon Valley. This time we came back to San Diego, we brought our college kid here. He enjoyed it too! We recommend their beef noodle soup (it's big and shareable) and their combo #2. I grew up in Taiwan and just love corn soup. The only con for this restaurant is that it's a bit out of the way from the highways. It's not easy to get to from the universities near by.

I also noticed other tables getting plates and bowls which we had to ask for. Overall, I felt the servers weren't too friendly either and seemed to rush through our table despite them standing around not seeming too busy. The food was excellent though! The soup had a great spice to it and super flavorful. The beef and onion was so juicy and addictive, the green beans were good too and had a slight kick to them.

The menu has quite a lot of good offerings it was hard to decide but feel not matter what you order here it's going to be delicious and authentic. They did keep several items from The Nood Bar! :: ORDER :: RED GUAVA ICE TEA ($5.95) - Oh my goodness, so yummy and refreshing. I'd say the caffeine level is very light on this one and I am ok with that. After stuffing my face I took a nice nap for someone who is caffeine sensitive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GARLIC BUTTER NOODLES {$20.95) - Grilled lemongrass-marinated pork shoulder served over steamed soba noodles tossed with soy sauce, fried garlic, garlic oil, and butter alongside steamed botchy, finished with cilantro and a side of plum sauce. THIS WAS SO FLAVORFUL and yummy. I don't often eat garlic butter noodles so any garlic butter noodle is delicious to me. I did NOT see any fried garlic in my meal and felt it was only garlic oil that was present with the garlic profiles. The noodles were very garlic-y and butter-y. The pork shoulder was also perfectly marinated and dipping it in the plum sauce which was a mix of sweet and tangy paired well with the marination of the meat and butter-ness of the noods. It also came with ONE bakchoy sliced in half to appear as two. And I wish they some how incorporated the cilantro and carrots more into the dish instead of garnish to give some more herbal flavor. Even though, this dish was spot on. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Service was great! Did feel awkward when they handed me the machine to tap my card and leave a tip... they stood there watching you press the buttons. No being discreet picking up plates or looking away... just looking right at you. I know it's a thing with many restaurants now but it's awkward and don't feel like I have privacy. I will def be back! So many yummy dishes on the menu to try. Until the next slurp....

My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. We came in tonight for dinner and as always we were blown away with how great the food profiles are. Started out with spring rolls and bao bun tacos, cuz taco Tuesday, and not those tacos are freaking delicious. Puffy bao bun and delicious meat. The spring rolls are a favorite of mine, fresh and delicious dipping sauce. The chow fun beef and veggies (dry stir fry) was absolutely the best I've ever had. Delicious noodles and the beef and veggies were cooked to perfection. My wife had the #9 special with beef and brisket and it too was full of flavor, delicious broth and noodles and the beat was superb. The place gets crowded quickly and there isn't a whole lot of room at this location. We sat at the bar, the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable on their menu. Overall this place is fantastic and absolutely worth eating there.
