I usually get the wonton and potsticker combo, and I just got my loyalty card stamped for it. I think 10 stamps gets you a free combo, which is pretty sick. I love the sauce station--the fact that they have pump dispensers for the garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar is great. I also really like how almost everything is self-serve. You can grab your own utensils, grab your own to-go boxes when you're done, and just dip. It makes eating here so easy and not stressful whatsoever. The employees are usually pretty cool, just a bit disconnected. The potstickers are really good! Visited on Sunday around 4 PM, the restaurant was quiet. I was just looking for a quick meal to go, ordered Combo #1, which included 12 signature potstickers with hot and sour soup. The atmosphere was weird, the cashier who took my order didn't greet me or smile and poker face throughout the ordering process. After waiting about 30 minutes, I returned to the counter to check on the status. Another staff who seemed to be a team leader, acted like he didn't see me. When I asked about my order, he simply turned toward the kitchen and asked the staff without acknowledging me or saying anything. After checking, he turned back and told me it would be another 10 minutes. The slowness and the lack of customer service was frustrating, especially when the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. First time trying Bafang and I came into it knowing it's a Taiwanese fast casual chain. They primarily sell noodles and dumplings. It's nice that they also offer combos. I kind of wish their dry noodle dishes themselves had protein in them, but that's me nitpicking. I tried a combo with their signature dry noodles and pot stickers. I liked that the pot stickers had a thin exterior and the filling was juicy. The noodles were chewy and the sauce definitely hit the spicy, nutty notes. However, it was a lot of carbs and I had a hard time finishing it. The noodles and the pot stickers were decent, but nothing much better than what I can get in a grocery store. I believe the overall quality of frozen pot stickers/dumplings and even instant noodles brands these days has really gone up (some of them even feel premium), and I don't feel like this particular meal outclassed them. I'm so glad I stuck with the Old Fashioned Noodle. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the flavor was simple but incredibly satisfying. For the drink, the cashier mentioned I could substitute it for either corn chowder or hot and sour soup. I chose the hot and sour soup. It was okay, but not really my favorite. Next time I'll definitely try the corn chowder instead. This combo is officially my favorite meal here so far. I was excited to see Bafang Dumpling open up a location in San Jose. It's located in Sprouts @Brokaw plaza, right in between MOD Pizza and The Kebab Shop. I ordered for pick-up through their online ordering system. After paying on their website, it estimated my wait time to be 20 minutes. I got there in about 15 minutes and my order was already packed and ready. I just went straight to the pick-up side and told the worker that I was there for an online pick-up. He asked for my name and the last four digits of my phone number. Easy peasy. It was only 11:30am on a Monday when I went and they already had 5 people waiting in line to place their order with the cashier. If you order in store or dine-in, they provide you with a buzzer for when your order is ready. They have open seating and offer a few outdoor tables. Utensils, sauces, togo containers and drinks are self-serve. The restaurant itself is half the size of their Santa Clara location. I ordered.. COMBO #1 $14.75 -12 potstickers + soup of choice OR soda. For my potstickers, I selected corn & chicken, which came out to be an extra $0.30 and hot & sour soup. The potstickers were simple yet yummy! I liked the sweet corn niblets and there were a lot of it. Usually I would prefer pork meat over chicken but they made the chicken tender & juicy, so I didn't miss the pork meat at all. The potsticker skin was chewy and held up well. I came back today and my experience was the complete opposite. The food was not good and the staff member I interacted with was not nice at all. I know today was a busy day as it was their grand opening but I do not think that gives an establishment an excuse to be THAT bad. Having been impressed with my initial experience with the Bafang Dumpling at Santa Clara Square, I came here with by best friend for this location's first day of soft opening on May 3rd at around noon. Thankfully, there wasn't a huge line and he got the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and an order of the Corn & Chicken Dumplings, whereas I got the Mala Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup. This location replaced the Rubio's Coastal Grill (RIP) in the plaza. Everything is fresh and new, as they recently completed renovations. The counter is to the right of the main entrance, with seating all along the left side. The monitors and take out menus they had doesn't seem to show the same selection as the website, so not sure if the full menu wasn't available during soft opening, but they did have their full assortment of soups, noodles, and dumplings but minimal sides and rice. The cashier was efficient and polite as he took our orders. As usual, after you place your order, you seat yourself (if you can find a seat). No waiter service here. We received our orders relatively promptly; didn't have to wait more than several minutes to get our noodle soups. For roughly 20 bucks (including tax), we received a huge bowl! Two thick slices of daikon, which not many beef noodle soup places have these days, several large pieces of beef shank, pickled veggies, bok choy, and soft noodles in a bowl that is about a foot wide and filled with soup. A layer of hot chili oil sat on top, staining the sides of the bowl. I almost finished the entire bowl, soup included. It wasn't crazy spicy but I enjoyed it! Hope you do too. read more

The food was fresh and flavorful. The menu is simple but still has great options - the quality of the food is great! I tried the dumplings, potstickers, fried chicken, and their noodles with peanut sauce. My favorite was their dumplings and potstickers, bafang style! My only thing to note is even if you dine in, the food comes in to-go boxes so be mindful if you are planning on eating family style or sharing. I had dinner at Bafang during their grand opening. I wasn't super impressed with the food we ordered. We ordered the combo 2, which is 12 signature potstickers and a mini wonton soup, veggie dumplings, and spicy wontons. The food was quite oily and not very impressive in terms of flavors. The pricing is not bad for the portion size. However, I was also very disappointed in the staff's demeanor during my visit. During the grand opening, they were offering free cooler bags when you spend $35. I was able to get the cooler bag from my order, and accidentally spilled on the bag. I asked the staff working if I could get a new bag since I spilled, and the staff working laughed and said "no why would I do that?". I understand that spilling on the bag was my fault and that there was a possibility they wouldn't be able to give me a new one, but it was a genuine question that did not warrant that kind of reaction, especially laughter. That itself was a small thing that threw me off and made me feel uncomfortable. All in all, I will not be returning for multiple reasons, but mainly because of the rude and condescending staff and better dumpling and wonton options elsewhere. read more

Stumbled upon this place randomly and it was really nice! The restaurant was clean and bright, I also really like the concept of fast casual chinese food, you order at the counter and pick up your own food. The prices were all super fair (with the exception of the beef noodle soup which is almost $20 after tax which I found a bit high but everything else was very fairly priced). I like this place. Potstickers and wonton soup are good. It's a filling meal and decent deal. I was gonna come eat here again with my girlfriend, but they're closing in 20 minutes :( read more
