    Xiao long bao

Got the following: - Xiao long bao: Good size. Skin wasn't thick, pretty good layer, but a few of it would break because it was sticking to another xlb. For the ones we could enjoy as a whole piece, so much soup in it. Great flavor and appetizer to start off - Clear beef broth noodles: Decided to try this over the spicy version. The worker gave us some chopped chilis on the side (different than the chili old on the table). Decent flavor, went with the default noodles (rice noodles is the other option). Noodles were cooked perfectly. My only complaint was that the soup came out room temp, which is a disappointment. I'll try the spicy one next time. - Chengdu Zajiang noodles: Got it with the default noodles, definitely the way to go. This one had more flavor compared to the beef noodle soup. You can choose your level of spice. It has a mix of sweet and savory to it. I added more chili oil to it. Good option for a dry noodle. Dined in on a Saturday afternoon around 12ish. Most tables were full. Spacious and clean spot! Nice decor throughout the space. They sell their frozen dumplings. I'm glad the restaurant is on the right side of the plaza since the other side gets so packed. Scan the QR and placed order via phone. Can't pay online, they'll bring it to you. I'd recommend and would come back to try other items.

Good food at a good price! Unfortunately my phone didn't have service here so it made ordering troublesome because there was only one server working on the floor and he didn't come check on us. The beef noodle soup was delicious. The noodles had the perfect texture and the broth was very flavorful. I also enjoyed the Zajiang Noodles. Would recommend!

Mian is truly delicious, simple, and affordable. The star of the show is the spicy braised beef noodle. The medium spice level was very manageable - I think I'll get extra spicy next time. The noodles are perfectly al dente, and the flavor of the broth is so satisfying. Service is extremely fast, and I'm a fan of the EDM they played. The interior decorations are also very aesthetic! It's like you are being transported to China.

I have eaten here twice so far out of randomness and seeing it open a while ago? I only ordered two different dishes which were enough to greatly impress me. This is one of the few places around here that offer very high quality authentic Chinese food. Where nothing is over powering or dominating, it's balanced between being in the healthier side.

The famous Michelin-recognized Sichuan noodle house has arrived in Milpitas--and this is their only Bay Area location with handmade dumplings! If you're a fan of bold, tongue-numbing Sichuan flavors, Mian Sichuan Noodles & Dumplings needs to be at the top of your list. Founded by James Beard Award-nominated Chef Tony Xu, Mian has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its authentic, "street-style" soul. While there are other spots in the Bay Area, the Milpitas location is special because it's the only one currently serving their handmade baos and savory pancakes. The noodles have that perfect QQ consistency, and the flavors are the perfect balance of spicy, tart, and savory. I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately it fell short of expectations. The food was pretty average, and there are several other XLB spots in the area that I personally enjoyed more. The restaurant is mostly self-service. We seated ourselves, ordered ourselves, and even the water was already set on the table. The biggest disappointment was the service at the end of the meal. When I asked for the bill, I paid in cash and had the amount ready. I was planning to leave a cash tip on the table, but before I even had the chance, the server looked at the cash and immediately said, "You know this doesn't include tip," in a very rude and dismissive tone. What bothered me most was the assumption. I always tip and fully intended to leave one, but I wasn't even given the opportunity before being called out about it. Considering how self-service the experience already was, the comment felt unnecessary and quite off-putting. It completely changed my impression of the restaurant and left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, the food was okay, but the service alone makes it hard for me to recommend or come back.

Love that mian has mamak stall style mee goreng here with unmatched wok hay. I was sad to see the previous spot before Mian go but am happy to see that in its place is an amazing eatery in its own right. The workers at Mian are very friendly and personable and interacted with our dog when my partner picked up takeout the first time he went. My partner is mala fiend and loved the zajiang mian. He also really like the beef noodle soup for its rich flavor and bouncy noodle texture. Personally I really appreciated the menu price--great value for the cucumber salad, steamed egg, and XLB. The XLB soup was incredible, once again very rich and savory with hints of ginger. The strength of Mian is definitely in its tried and true flavor profile. I will be returning to try the cold noodle! I will also be ordering the fried rice, which seem like they would go perfectly with the steamed egg.

New Mian East Bay location conveniently opened in Milpitas! I've been to the Cupertino location before and I have to say, this new restaurant is bigger, less busy, and just as good (if not better). Fast service without sacrificing that Michelin Guide quality that put their food on the map. The inside space was really nicely decorated with mah jong posters and Chinese food stand facades, and there were plenty of tables and chairs. Definitely can accommodate the foot traffic of the South Bay location once word gets out. We came in for a Monday dinner and ordered a little bit of everything to share family style -- this is the way to go! Chengdu Zajiang noodles: Really good, I preferred this over their beef noodle soup. Great ratio of meat to sauce to noodles and was very flavorful. Pan fried pork buns: Good size and nice texture! Pan fried soup dumplings are the perfect combo of XLB and potstickers. Pork XLB: Good but the wrappers ripped easily, possibly because we waited too long before eating them. Tofu skin & celery appetizer: Something a little different, but would pass on it next time.

3/5, wasn't terrible it wouldn't be in my personal choices as a place to go but if my friends or someone wanted to go i wouldn't be opposed to type of place - firstly everything was okay, it is what it is but also lacking a little bit to the point is literally is just what it is - enjoyed the suace on the wontons -the soup flavour was good, the noodles were good but together they didn't seem to go well as the noodles didn't really pull or take any of the soup flavour so it just tasted like watery noodles that the texture is good -the lamb is good as well strong chinese meat flavor that i enjoy

We came on a weekday dinner. It wasn't too busy, so we were seated quickly. You'll order using a QR code, and they'll bring it out to you. We ordered a steamed egg, panfried pork bun, Chengdu Zajiang noodle, pork xiao lonb bao, and Chengdu fried rice. The non-dumpling orders came out incredibly quickly! The steamed egg is a massive treat. Make sure you order at least one per person, otherwise your relationships might be strained after fighting for it. The egg was silky-smooth, and the sauce and pork added a nice salty kick. The Chengdu Zajiang noodles were tasty, too. The sauce clings well to the springy noodles, and the bits of ground pork supplement the texture. The chengdu fried rice is also tasty. The rice is fluffy and well seasoned, and there's a decent amount of egg. The pork xiao long bao is pleasant - the wrappers are thin, but do not yield so easily to your chopsticks; the broth is piping hot and full of flavor, and the meat is plentiful. The pan fried buns were our weakest link here - the fillings aren't as tasty as the xiao long bao's, and it was a little too doughy for our liking. We liked that they were crispy, though.

This new Mian location is amazing.. the same food you love, but in the prime location of Milpitas along side with some other great dessert options to enjoy after your meal. The interior is newly renovated with bright neon signs, vibrant decor, and thoughtful bamboo finishes throughout the space. Interior is clean and well maintained. Come before 6:30 pm if you're coming for dinner and don't want to wait. Chengdu fried rice - 5/5 Fragrant delicious fried rice that is simple yet comforting. Add some chili oil on top for that extra depth of spicy flavor. Pork shrimp dumplings (steamed) - 5/5 Super plump sweet pieces of shrimp that pair nicely with the juicy pork meat. Definitely order this. Siu mai with sticky rice and mushroom - 5/5 This was a fan favorite at our table. The sticky rice has an unbelievable umami flavor profile that makes this dish completely underrated. The sticky rice is comforting and hearty. The dumpling skin is so thin and delicate- just enough to notice that its there and give a little chewy texture. Service is fast and friendly. You can order via QR code online as there is free wifi offerred. Just let the workers know when you're ready to settle the bill. If you're looking for a comforting meal with lots of variety to share among a family meal, check out Mian.

Yummy delicious comfort foods! Look no further. I love noodles and dumplings! This is a chain and they have several locations and funny this is the first time I've eaten here and wont be my last. There's a QR code on each table where you can look at the menu. Here's what we ordered: Xiao Ling Bao (6pcs) $10.99 (4/5) Super plump and juicy once popped in your mouth. Make sure for it to cool down a bit before indulging or it'll be piping hot Chocolate Xiao Ling Bao (4pcs) $7.99 (5/5) Creamy milky warm chocolate goodness in your mouth. The kids loved this one! Crispy Sichuan Style Chicken $9.99 (5/5) Really juicy crispy and well marinated bites of popcorn chicken with a spicy, sweet dry dipping sauce. Really tasty Chendu Zaijian Noodles $14.99 (5/5) This noodle dish is one of their popular dishes. It comes with one fried egg, bok choy, ground pork, soft noodles in a sauce which you can customized to be more spicy. The spice is a numbing spice so beware of getting it too spicy and make sure to mix well as the sauce is on the bottom. We also added a side of braised beef for extra $6. Spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup $15.99 (4/5) This was similar the above dish but had soup in it and no ground pork but braised beef. If you want more a soup dish then I recommend this. Service was great and the space was very clean. Everything was super tasty and delicious. I will definitely come back to try the other dishes!

Randomly came across this location when we went to have lunch at Daeho in Milpitas! It took over the old Layang Layang restaurant, right next door to BBQ Chicken. On our first visit, we came on a Monday around 9am. Apparently they have a VERY limited menu during breakfast hours, which is until 11am. All the items I wanted to order were not available. The waitress did suggest some items we could order but we decided to come back another day. Wish I knew this ahead of time.. so I didn't waste our time or gas getting there. Anyways.. so we made another trip to Mian on a Sunday and arrived a little past 11am. We got seated right away. The restaurant was spacious with lots of tables. We ordered via QR code.. DUMPLING IN SWEET & SPICY SAUCE (6) $7.99 -we got this with pork filling. Always good. The sauce was garlicky, savory and sweet. The dumpling skin was nice and chewy. 4/5* PAN FRIED PORK BUN (4) $8.99 -came out piping hot and juicy. The bottoms were crispy and not oily. Meat was soft but could be more seasoned. Definitely had to eat it with the chili oil and black vinegar. 4/5* STEAM PORK XIAO LONG BAO (6) $10.99 -came out piping hot and super juicy. The XLB's were pretty big and the dumpling skin was nice and thin. Just like the pan fried bun, meat was soft but could be more seasoned. Definitely had to eat it with the chili oil and black vinegar. 4/5* MEE GORENG MAMAK $16.99 -came with bits of chicken, tofu, tomato scrambled egg and bean sprouts. SO flavorful. The noodles had a nice char and were chewy. Unexpectedly delicious. Our toddler really enjoyed this dish too. 4.5/75* They also sell frozen handmade dumplings to buy home too. Service was super friendly and attentive. One of the waitresses gave extra attention to our toddler and gave him a toy. Would definitely come back again when we're craving!

Even though their parking lot had a lot of cars, it's so big that there're still plenty of spaces. Their inside was huge as well. Because of the high ceiling, it didn't feel too crowded, even though it was packed. They had a lot of servers, too, though getting the attention of one took a while. Our server highly recommended their sea bass 2 ways (congee and chow fun) on their daily special menu. We would have ordered that if they still had fish at ~2lb, but they only had fish at ~3lb, which would be too big for us, as we would like to order some dim sum as well. So, we just ordered from their dim sum menu. The 2 different house teas we ordered came out pretty quickly, but it took a while for the food to come. The Sauteed Turnip Cake in XO Sauce was the dish I liked the most. It could still use more XO sauce, though. Pork & Crab Roe Siu Mai was gigantic; taste was normal. I wished they had chili sauce at the table. We're too busy catching up and didn't bother to flag down someone to get some. The Fried Bean Curd Skin Roll w/ Shrimp was not bad, just a bit oily. The Fried Chinese Donut Wrapped in Rice Noodle w/ Dried Shrimp was on point; it came with a peanut sauce on the side. The Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce were well cooked and off the bones. The Salted Egg Yolk Lava Black Bun wasn't too sweet; the inside was more runny than we expected. We're already stuffed after having 6 dim sum dishes. Overall, dim sum was solid, but on the more expensive side. While their service was typical for a Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area, they did apply a 16% service charge to the bill automatically, which was stated on their menu.

I don't know even how to begin this review, because this place was BEYOND AWFUL. We have been here…read moremany times over the years because of our Chinese family friends. First, let's start with cleanliness. The bathroom was disgusting. If this is where the cooks relieve and wash their hands, yikes! Literally a biohazard. Trash overflowing and everything was sticky and the toilets were very dirty. Just yikes. Also if you look at the dining inspection score on the Santa Clara county website, it scored a literal 20/100. This is worse than competitors for kitchen cleanliness. This explains the many food poisoning reviews here. We got served raw food and things that looked a bit spoiled here and luckily we spotted it and didn't get sick. Read the inspection report and it's really disgusting. I'm not sure how this place is still open. I get service at Chinese restaurants serving primarily Chinese immigrants isn't top tier, but this place takes it to the next level in being abysmal. The front desk staff is belligerent and they DO NOT RESPECT YOUR RESERVATION and make you stand outside and wait for up to 30 minutes. This happened to us a couple times. Also if you are an English speaker/non Chinese speaker, the front desk staff only speaks mandarin for the most part so good luck too if you are a Cantonese speaker. They also hold and reserve table numbers for refused to jump the waitlist and reservations. That was just the host staff, the waiters were not better. Waiters were very hard to flag down and sometimes they see you and ignore you because they don't want to serve you and do their job. They also are too busy sometimes and seem overworked so their employer (a very rich duo of brothers) need to treat their employees better and train them better so they have a better attitude for customers. We also had one waiter when cleaning our table poured our water glasses into a bowl then dumped in onto the carpet onto the ground which was a first for me and my family. This was very memorable in a bad way. The environment is also very uncomfortable to dine in. The seating is packed in so tight that it's so loud you can't hear the other people at your table. It's also a fire hazard since several emergency exits were visibly blocked by tables, chairs, or people crowding at the entrance. I've seen reviews here and on Google claiming to have reported the restaurant to the fire marshal. This seems to be true because there were several times the restaurant de densified the dining room before densifying it again weeks later. If a fire broke out, this would be deadly due to exits being blocked and the restaurant being over capacity. This place is just waiting for something really bad to happen. This place is also very expensive and claims to be an elevated authentic dim sum experience targeting Chinese immigrants and ABCs. And it sucks for the price paid given the food, service, and environment (and the literal fire danger they put you in) Finally, as many have complained here, there is a mandatory 18% gratuity and they demand a tip on top of it. They hide it from their menu so you don't find out, but that's illegal in California to hide a mandatory gratuity. Honestly, the gratuity isn't worth it for the nasty service and food anyways. The only have it because the owners know their restaurant is so bad they have to put a gratuity because otherwise people won't pay tips. What a joke of a business, I'm not sure why so many people still support it by singing its praises here and patronizing a restaurant that clearly doesn't care about either its employees or customer.

They were not busy and we were advised to order soon, as their kitchen would close shortly. Items ordered: Soy sauce chow mein- Large portion and taste was fine and as expected. Beef stew noodle soup- Large portion and plenty of beef and noodles with some choy. Taste was okay. Salt and pepper pork chops- I opted for no jalapeños. The fried garlic was good but this was VERY fatty. Majority of the pork chops were gristle and inedible. Choy in broth- Large order and taste was fine. Fish congee- Portion size was okay and decent amount of fish. Staff were very friendly, brought us the bill but explained that we had plenty of time to finish our meal (as they were trying to balance the register prior to closing), and even brought us desserts. Ambiance- 2/5 stars This location is in need of an update. They do have a private room and seating is not too crowded, which is a plus. Food- 2/5 stars Portion sizes were big but they could definitely do better about the quality of food served. Service- 4/5 stars Everyone was friendly and helpful

I always had time to chat with the ladies inside and they're all very hardworking old school hustlers in business. They do pay attention to details and customers needs. Lines get long fast, so you'll need lots of patience here. Food items are all huge in portions/made with authentic ingredients and simply good for old school style traditional foods. Affordable and good if you know what to order. This place should remodel and get a huge upgrade, but they are busy as heck most of the time. Nobody likes sticky floors or stuff everywhere on tables in such busy environment. They do accept credit cards. Bag of buns in refrigerator are around $9-$10.50 each. Lots of pieces and flavors inside. Dim sum items are still around $5 per order. Siumai and shrimp dumplings are always a favorite since it's huge in size here. They make it very good and fulfilling compared to elsewhere. Egg custard tarts are usually $2 each, but it was buy 1 get 1 free today, so I got double the value. Huge tarts! Love them very much. Cocktail buns and pineapple buns are always fresh and big. Good recipe. I usually come for large box of chow mein or chow fun noodles too. Porridge is always excellent in taste. This is one of the most convenient and hardworking locations with great women employees staffing full day. I really got to know each person personally over the years. Great service over the counter for such busy atmosphere with limited time to get hydrated or breathe. I hope this place keeps up because newer generations want newer and cleaner places. Overall, very authentic and decent for Chinese dim sum items and good tasting bread buns.

A few dishes they do well here are the salt and pepper spare ribs (pork chop), salt and pepper fish fillet, dried scallop with egg fried rice - all their varieties of fried rice are yummy. Servers are courteous but if the restaurant is busy, servers don't come around as often as they should. You may have to flag them down. I recommend asking for everything up front if you don't see what you want at your table. For example, certain condiments or dipping sauces for your dim sum or glasses of water, extra napkins, etc. Request that stuff when the wait staff first show up or when you order. The ambiance is your typical Chinese restaurant. Simple and clean enough considering how long this restaurant has been in business. Nice chandeliers. Busy on the weekends for those coming in for dim sum. Restaurant is a decent size and has tables that are good for larger parties as well. Located in a busy plaza which houses many eateries near Lion Supermarket.

The staff is friendly and nice including the owner who knows my go to meal which is beat tendon stew with turnip. I have had other dishes and they are all superb and delicious. Not sure what all the complaints about the food are but I have dined in a lot of Chinese dim sum places including Koi Palace and I love this place more. I have not ordered a dish I did not like and I have tried quite a few of the chef specials already. Ambiance is huge and wide open with nice tables and cloth. I go after work at around 7pm and there is a nice spattering of regulars but I know this place gets crowded in the weekend.. Price is fair but the food and ingredients high quality so I don't care as good food trumps price. I love this place and am happy the owners and staff recognize me. The food is superb and tasty and the ambiance perfect when not busy. I highly recommend coming here for an awesome food and chef to table experience!

This is a to go only place, no dining room. Had the pork fried rice, braised roast pork, soy chicken and charshu pork. I like that their steam table includes something different than other Chinese to go places; not the usual orange chicken and beef broccoli type place. Steam table includes charshu pork, braised pork, soy chicken and more. The braised pork had the roast pork but cooked on soy sauce based sauce with a hint of spicy. The soy chicken had lemongrass and garlic flavor. Charshu bbq red pork was slightly sweet and tasted like bacon but a little gamey. Pork fried rice was well seasoned. Chowmein had a different type of noodles than what I'm used but had good flavor overall. Bought the fried tofu on the side. Tofu was topped with diced grilled onion and bell peppers which gave it a sweet flavor if you eat the toppings with the tofu. All steam table items were good. I would go back to try their dimsum and roast meat items. They also sell pre packaged food if you don't feel like getting the combo items from the steam table. Nice staff. Very reasonable prices with generous portions.

The Chinese sausage pieces sprinkled throughout added extra flavor too. The bowl is deep so there seemed to be roughly 5 cups of rice. Unfortunately the laksa shrimp fried rice was disappointing in comparison. It didn't have much flavor overall - better than plain rice but definitely needed more seasoning. The menu lists homemade laksa sauce as an ingredient but we didn't taste that, and the dish wasn't spicy at all either despite the 1 chili pepper rating. But it looked just like the menu picture so maybe the description is wrong. Fried chicken with tom yum sauce came with 6 pieces. Very juicy. We also enjoyed the herbal roasted prime steak with sausage rice. The delicious rice had the taste of fish sauce. Most of the short rib slices were soft and a few were slightly chewy but overall decent quality. Some of the fattier pieces of meat were still attached to the bone.

I came here on a Friday evening with my friend to grab dinner around 6:00 PM. The wait was around an hour, so be very prepared if you're coming during the dinner rush. This spot is located where the majority of the Asian restaurants are in Milpitas, so it's safe to say the parking can get a bit hectic and intense. The interior of the place is very bright, modern, and clean. There is a lot of seating for a small space, but the reason they are so busy has a lot to do with the number of people wanting to check this spot out. When you sit down, you scan their virtual menu via QR code and order there instead of through a server. You have the choice to order on one phone as a group or separately. Between my friend and me, we ordered a beef mint salad, fried tofu, confit mushrooms, and truffle mushroom rice. I will say that when we first got the fried tofu and confit mushrooms, we were quite surprised by the small portions compared to the price. That said, they were delicious, but skippable if you're trying to find the best bang for your buck. What I absolutely would recommend is their truffle mushroom fried rice. This might have been my best bite this month. It was so savory, the mushrooms hit perfectly, and the coating of butter on the rice was supreme. It was $28 for a bowl, but it was a good value to split between two people. Overall, this place had great, fast service (our food came out in under 10 minutes), a nice ambiance, and fresh, flavorful food.
