I was excited for Bagel Boss to open. I've been a few times and the service needs a reboot. Some days there is a lot of staff but they're not working in sync. They look bewildered mostly. They need to be a well oiled machine. Especially on busy weekends. One of my orders that was breakfast sandwiches was messed up. The wrong meat was on the wrong bagel. One was lacking cheese that was supposed to be on it. I think the order was lost. An employee asked me what I was waiting on and I showed her my receipt. She went back to check on it and it appeared it had not been started. She offered a baked good for the inconvenience. I declined. And after all of that, my order still wasn't correct. I went back another time and simply ordered bagels, toasted with cream cheese. Straightforward order. My most recent trip back, was another delayed order. An employee asked me what my order was and then went to the kitchen to check. The employee came back and said it would be a bit longer because there was only one person working in the kitchen. The employee offered a baked good. Declined one again. Received order and it was correct. However, a customer came in while I was waiting and his takeout order was incorrect and he brought it back. Two employees rifled through the bag and opened sandwiches up to inspect and told him they would get him another order. They offered him to keep the incorrect order and he declined. They offered him a baked good while he waited. He declined it too. I walked out with my bag and left him there to wait longer while they made his order, again. read more

The bagels are all really good, but it is pricey... which is why I'm not giving a full five stars. A bagel sandwich came to around $18 after tax/tip. So, yeah. That being said, it was delicious. I got the hot honey boss bagel with jalapeño cheese bagel & veggie cream cheese (instead of the suggested scallion). If you get food from here, don't order online. The menu is inaccurate, and they will put whatever they feel like in the bag. I ordered 2 bagels. They gave me one and a brownie. If you're out of a bagel flavor, why replace it with a brownie lol? Also they do not actually offer apple turnovers, black and white cookies, or cupcakes as is listed on their Uber Eats menu. Didn't even give me a straw for my drink lol. When I called to see if maybe the order got mixed up, the person told me the Uber Eats menu is inaccurate, so it's an issue they're aware of and not interested in fixing. Came across this place while I was heading to Porto's. Did a U-turn and so glad I did. You literally can smell the bagels from the outside. Sin and Joey were so nice and helpful. Also, they offer samples on their items :) so don't be afraid to ask. This place is awesome. They have inside and outside seating, so plenty of space to enjoy your bagels. I love that they pack on the cream cheese, which btw they have a great selection of. Even their plain bagel with butter was delicious..something about their butter! I was told to get there early has they run out pretty quickly and sometimes even have a line that wraps around, which I believe because this place is no joke. Can't wait to come back. read more

Tried their egg salad bagel and it was good! Would recommend if you like eggs. It was nice and creamy. We got there 30 minutes before closing and only potato salad and coleslaw were left for the sides :( so go earlier if you want to get the other sides. the bagels are flown in from ny to be browned. But they are made in NY with NY water. There are no bagels that can compare in all of Southern California. And they actually have flagels!!!!!!!!!!!!! All these good reviews so I decided to try this place. I illegally parked my vehicle since I didn't want to drive around Magnolia. Bagel was not good at all. I'm used to real thick and dense New York Bagels from Russ & Daughters in NYC and this was not it. I was surely disappointed. Potato salad was rather watery and I didn't like that fact that they don't peel potatoes. Service was ok but asking people for tips for just putting together bread and toppings felt really tacky. That is not my problem that these people work there regardless of their age. That's called choices. I will not be coming back for sure. If you have ever lived in NYC, this place is not for you. Came here on a Saturday afternoon right around 12:30, they close at 1:30. There was parking right in front of the store which is for 10 minutes but it's perfect for grabbing bagels to take home There was only one person in line ahead of us, but as the person takes your order they also make your bagel before helping the next person. The line did start to get longer behind us. When we were helped, the staff was SUPER friendly, like extremely nice. They were helpful and even though they were almost out of most bagels they helped us get our order Once the bagels were ready, they were pretty solid and filled to the brim. East Coasters please don't hate me!!! I was so excited to try this place after all my East Coast friends hyped it up. I really, really wanted to LOVE it. We came here at 10am on a Sunday morning, and the line was already through the door. It took about 45 minutes from start to getting our food. Inside is very claustrophobic since it's so crowded, but I do like that there's an outdoor seating patio right next to it. I ordered the lox salmon cream cheese bagel. It was good. The cream cheese consistency was softer than what I was used to, and it was very creamy. But is it better than the salmon cream cheese bagels I make at home with ingredients I buy at Costco? Not even close. And not even close to the price either. My friend ordered an Impossible Bagel, and added potatoes to it. It costed $18 which is absolutely criminal. My partner ordered the breakfast one, which was like $13. The food was good, but the price tag and wait just makes my head spin. Great bagel in a great location! For a Thursday morning, this spot was surprisingly busy! However the service was quick and we got our bagels within a short wait! There's plenty of seating inside and outside on the patio! I ordered a lox bagel, and while the bagel itself has great flavor, the perfect amount of lox, as well as a good amount of spice in the jalapeño cream cheese... I wanted onions and capers, and when I got home I realized they were not added. This doesn't make or break the sandwich to me, but it would've been nice to have. I know this spot is new and maybe ordering on the app would be a little easier than ordering in person for customizations. All this being said, I'd definitely be back next time I'm craving a bagel, and this spot is a great addition to the valley. read more

Sin is the nicest and most hospitable employee I've ever met and she makes the most delish coffees and bagels. This place would not be the same without her!! It's probably a better place to go in person, but when ordering online, watch out! Not once, but 2 times they gave me rotten avocado. They sliced it and then positioned it to try and hide it. They also put it in the egg sandwhich for my 18 month old... glad I looked. They have also made orders completely incorrect twice. The deals are really good, but after this last time with the rotten avocado being maneuvered around to try and make you not see it on an open faced bagel and putting it in the egg sandwich, we are calling it quits. I was refunded by our delivery service for it. The bagels are very good by themselves, and I would recommend buying that and the salmon cream cheese separately by itself if you need to order delivery which is why 2 stars. But, stay away from ordering any prepared food. The people working there seem too lazy to care about food safety. read more

Must find street parking. Not sure how people are calling this an east coast bagel spot. I'm from nj and grew up working in a deli; this has elements of our delis / bagel shops but doesn't feel quite right. Bacon egg and cheese on everything bagel was not cut in half, didn't have SPK as requested. Two eggs was ok but I would have been fine with one. Bacon was like floppy microwave bacon. Bagel tastes like round bread w seeds. Cinnamon raisin with raisin walnut schmear was better. Bagel had more chewiness but still not quite east coast. No cinnamon though, as stated. Spread was good though. Hanks offers a far superior bagel and remains the only bagel shop in LA meeting east coast standards. read more

Place is brand spanking new! Not even a week open yet. It was very busy on a Saturday morning, a lot of people waiting for their orders but a small line. The line moves fast but is a little disorderly. You place your order at the first register but don't pay until the last register which gives u some time to add some desserts or drinks to your order. Also there are monitors projecting the menus in a slideshow manner, but they did not show the breakfast items which made me think they were not serving breakfast anymore, butttt luckily they still were. I payed at the second register and added an iced latte. You are able to add syrups to your coffee yourself for free at the beverage area. I waited about 30 mins for my two breakfast bagels. MIKES HOT HONEY EGG SANDWICH: 2 Eggs, Bacon, Cheese, Scallion Cream Cheese and Mikes Hot Honey Bagel was huge and soft. Very delicious scallion cream cheese. I love the two cheeses and the quality bacon, nice and thick. That hot honey compliments the sandwich well , it's a nice sweet and savory bite. Next time I will order on jalapeño bagel instead of plain for a lil more kick. Also want to come back for some blueberry or strawberry cream cheese. Great add to the SFV! The location is a good size with indoor and outdoor seating. For a Thursday it was pretty busy, but they had plenty of staff to keep things flowing and seating areas were clean. The staff were friendly and answered our questions. They have tons of bagel, spread/schmear, and sandwich options. I tried the bacon, egg and cheese. I asked for jalapeño cream cheese on the side, but they ended up putting it on the bagel. My husband ordered a bagel sandwich with jalapeño cream cheese and lox - he asked for onions and capers, but they forgot them. Dispone the hiccups the texture of the bagel and flavors were excellent. Bagel Boss is definitely the closest to a NYC bagel we've found in LA, and I dare say possibly the best bagel we've had since moving here. We got the sesame with scallion cream cheese and cinnamon raisin with blueberry cream cheese, both untoasted. The total came out to a little under $12. First impression: I was very pleased to see the generous amount of cream cheese on both bagels (definitely NYC-approved!), and the flavors were spot-on. The bagel itself was quite large, with a chewy texture and shiny crust. There was no line when I went, but it did feel somewhat disorderly. There was a lot of staff, but the process from ordering to payment didn't feel smooth, especially since they've separated the registers. I've been going here multiple times. Today I ended up getting the all the way fish bagel to go, which is awesome. Today I got one and no fish! Everything else was there, including the capers. I don't have time to go back right now, but I really wish I hadn't been charged full price for this bagel. I'm sorry... this place does not live up to the hype. Very average at best. Bagels are fine, spreads are sub-par. The jalapeño CC is canned pickled jalapeños chopped up, not fresh. The strawberry CC is artificial strawberry syrup mixed in, no fresh fruit. Lox CC was a little bland. Most bagel places in general are good because they have that addicting quality and options to choose from so if you have a hankering, it's fine. But it's not great or memorable at all. The bagels we wanted, but not what we needed... On first glance, Bagel Boss looks like any other deli or fast casual place in Los Angeles, but behind that long deli counter lies something special. Bagel Boss comes to Burbank all the way from Long Island, New York. Outside of the little flourishes of artwork and signage, you'd never know. On my first visit, I wondered how New York was this place. As I waited in line, Billy Joel started to play. Let me begin by saying, this is a legit bagel. Chewy, crusty exterior...pillowy, tender bread on the inside. It's nice to toast, but it's not really necessary when they're freshly made every morning. The cream cheese choices that go along with them are equally as good. The regular cream cheese has equal parts creaminess, smoothness, and tang. The flavored versions are exactly what they say...the scallion is scalliony, etc. The lox cream cheese isn't lacking lox...it's not as pink as other bagel shops have it, but I'll take huge chunks of lox mixed in versus the look of "lox spread." My go to combo is an egg bagel with the scallion lox cream cheese...it's everything I want in a bagel without having all the individual pieces to make it up. You could get a traditional lox sandwich with onions and capers, but the lox scallion cream cheese is a nice cheat code. Speaking of cheating...they do not cheat you on the amount of cream cheese schmeared in between a sliced bagel. It's one of the few places where I've had to ask for less, not more. It's a full service deli with salads and sandwiches as well. If cream cheese isn't your thing, you can get a breakfast sandwich with eggs and cheese. My other go to combo is the french toast bagel...which is basically an egg bagel, but sweet and has hints of maple syrup throughout and powdered sugar on top. It goes great with the blueberry or strawberry cream cheese. Surprisingly the star here is the coffee. I'm not even talking about the lattes and other coffee drinks, I'm just getting the regular drip coffee. I don't know what it is or if they do anything special to brew it, but it's just a great cup of coffee. They have a coffee station with all sorts of syrups, sugars, and milk options so you can tailor your perfect cup of coffee. I came here on opening weekend and that was a mistake. The line was down the block...the new employees weren't up to speed, but were extremely kind and helpful...overall though, it was kind of a mess. I can gladly say that the lines have died down and the employees are just as nice and helpful as they were on day one. If I had a complaint about the employees, it's that maybe they're too nice. Overall, Bagel Boss debuts as one of the top bagel shops in Los Angeles and it's going to be in that elite class for as long as I can see. The only knock I have against it is LA has its own bagel culture now. For decades, we only had what we got at supermarkets and the odd donut shop or bakery here and there. We always craved a "true" NY bagel experience. That search lead to bakers here to chase the perfect recipe/technique and like every cuisine we've folded into the Los Angeles food tapestry, we came up with something just as good, if not better. Bagel Boss is excellent...it is that quintessential, classic bagel we have wanted...but it lacks the complex flavors LA bagel hot spots have achieved. LA bagels have achieved sourdough like qualities from ingredients they use...the specific flours...the techniques...the atmosphere that LA brings to that bread. I'm sure the Bagel Boss dough carries that distinct New York terroir, but in the past few years, the style that LA has cultivated has made me rethink the classic bagel. With that said, I'm glad LA is finally a great bagel town and Bagel Boss is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. read more

This place is NOT worth your time or money. Way too expensive for what it is. While the bagels are decent, the service is terrible. Even in NYC, the service is fast and sharp but there is a clear menu and process. The menu at this place says $2.75 for a bagel and no price for shmear. I am pretty sure they just arbitrarily make prices from that point on as they charged us an additional $4 to put cream cheese on a bagel. When we asked for prices ahead of time the rude manager gave us major attitude. The one nice thing I will say about this place is that BLVD cafecito is a block away and has significantly better coffee and food. Today I discovered Bagel Boss! I had no idea this place existed, I had been going to the usual popular haunts but this place might have changed all that. I was helped my Amy (sorry if the spelling is wrong!), she was great and gave me the 411 on all the sides, especially her favorites. I ordered All The Way Fish, love me a good lox bagel. This did not disappoint but buyer beware, the sandwich was HUGE! I'd recommend splitting it with someone and adding another side, it was so much food that I ended up saving it for later. So glad we found Bagel Boss! I have east coast guests visiting, and was looking for authentic bagels, and didn't want to do the normal Western/Noah's route. A quick Yelp search steered us well. The service was incredible, especially Amy, who was incredibly helpful and patient with us first-timers. There is a great variety of bagels and shmears, they let you sample as many cream cheese varieties as you wish, and the portions are generous. Staff member was helpful during my transaction. She did allow us to sample some of their spreads. The bagels are decently priced but the price does add up with the spread (they do not have any prices listed for the spread). My total was $16 for a bagel with spread and a flagel with spread. My order was prepared quickly. They do offer many places to sit inside, outside, in front. The same staff member who assisted me assisted a younger gentleman who appeared to be wearing a hearing aid. The staff member was impatient and rude to this guest. All he was doing was picking up his order and wanted to purchase a soda. She spoke to him in a loud tone and had an attitude. Management needs to address customer service with staff member. Sesame Bagel- 6/10 The bagel is well coated with sesame seeds. The dough needs some salt as the only flavor was the sesame and not the bread. Jalapeño Spread- 5/10 This spread didn't really have jalapeños but had many pieces of diced red and yellow pepper. Sunflower Flagel- 5/10 Dough needs some salt. The flagel "flat bagel" cost more than a bagel. The flagel seems like a way for a business to sell over proofed bagels. Lox Scallion Spread- 5/10 This spread is missing flavor. Without the scallion, the lox doesn't have any flavor as there is barely any in the spread. read more

I had to try their bagels and lox sandwich. The sandwiches are very filling. They provide lots of topping and have unique cream cheese flavors. Prices are reasonable and there's a lot of seating inside and out on the patio. There's a lot to choose from and excited to go back for another type of sandwich.
