This family owned business is absolutely wonderful. My go to for a good sandwich - highly recommend the banh mi. I have had the banh mi with both chicken and pork - both are excellent. I have also had the deli sandwiches, which I can also recommend. However, aside from the delicious food, the women who run and presumably own this restaurant are so kind and happy. The owners here are a husband wife team. They are super friendly and know most of their regular customers by name. They even know their customers' go to selections. They have a nice variety of bagels and sandwiches. They even make Vietnamese coffee and sandwiches, so delicious! This place reminds me of the times before franchises ruled the world. This is a mom and pops cafe where the owners make you feel like a good friend. Their prices are very reasonable perhaps even on the lower side for being next to downtown Pleasanton. Everything was delicious. I got a breakfast cheese bagel (sausage eggs and cheddar cheese plus lettuce) with an iced Carmel latte with soy milk before thanksgiving week. Yup! It's a good one!!! I've been past this place so many times and it didn't look like much from the outside. I was getting tired of the "same old places" I kept going to for lunch and I saw the great reviews about Bagel Cafe - so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Really friendly proprietor and the croissant sandwich I ordered was super! Very fresh and delicious and the ingredients all seemed to be prepared onsite - nothing coming out of a plastic bag from a factory. We decided to try out this new bagel spot in Pleasanton. What a nice surprise! Been here a few times now and it's my new favorite spot for bagels. No bagels here will compare to NYC but these are still pretty good! Definitely better than the other popular chain. My favorite is the bacon eggs and cheese bagel. Bagels have a thin, crackly crust and dense but light middle. I've also tried the GIANT croissants, chocolate chip cookies, and cinnamon bagel chips. All very good. This is the bagel spot that makes you want to come back for more bagels rather than the place you just go for bagels. No more bland bagels for me! read more

Such a great new little place downtown ! Just off the beaten path at the end of main st - easy parking - super friendly service . I've been a few times now, and each time the woman behind the counter is SO sweet :) the bagels are delish, the homemade butter croissants are HUGE and melt in your mouth perfection . The veggies for the sandwhich are fresh and they don't skimp on the avocado ! They also make a great chai, almond milk as an option (yippee) , and the coffee & espresso drinks are great. I already left a great review of Bagel Cafe but I just had to come back and say this: I worked at Amador High over this past summer, and almost everyday I went and got a bagel from Bagel Cafe, since it was right next door. They were so nice and friendly, they remembered my name and order every single time. Well, my job ended at Amador and I stopped going to Bagel Cafe. I came back months later and not only did they remember and greet me by my name, they also remembered my exact order. I love this place. They're so kind, and their food is so good.
