The Bagel Street Cafe located within the shopping center on the corner of El Camino Real and El Monte Avenue is a nice little bagel and sandwich shop in Mountain View. As one of a growing number of Bagel Street Cafe restaurants (there are about twenty of them in and around the Bay Area now), this is a quaint spot to taste a some of the variety of very good bagels, sandwiches and drinks that they offer. The parking and entry at this shopping center can be perplexing. If you're stopping at Pizza My Heart, Panera, Chipotle, etc., it can be difficult to find an open spot. However, Bagel Street Cafe is on the western end of the parking lot (opposite most of the shopping center) and near plenty of open parking spaces. The best part of this restaurant is that they open early. Their doors open at 5:30 AM on Monday through Saturday. They open at 7 AM on Sundays. Unfortunately, they do close early too. They close at 4 PM on Monday through Saturday and 3 PM on Sundays. The bagels here are pretty good. They're obviously better than bagels found at grocery stores or Costco. However, they're also better than what you'll find at most cafes, shops or coffee shops. My favorite bagel in the Bay Area is still Izzy's in Palo Alto. However, this is a very good option too (and they offer an even wider assortment). The staff is friendly and the food is worth repeat visits. read more

Great mom and pop place. We stumbled upon this place on one of our SF/San Jose trips and it's a must. I got the garlic bagel with bacon and eggs and it was so good! The chicken melt with cheddar on a marinara bagel was amazing. The issue is not with the food as much as it is with the service. They were nice upon entering but whoa what a wait! 5 people (no exaggeration) came and went while I was waiting for this chicken salad w melted cheese to finish. The girl kept saying it was coming right up but 15 minutes later for a chicken salad melt? Were they killing the chicken or what?! So I came in wanting something quick to eat and when I got inside a guy with a beanie did not greet me but when I told him what I wanted, his response and the way he talked was LAZY and when I couldn't hear him I said I'm sorry? He inhaled heavily like legit took a deep breath and closed his eyes and still said in the same tone what kind of bagel, he was not smiling I honestly got a vibe that he was not having it today and I felt very uncomfortable I was about to say something to him. But I decided not too. The food is good but I won't come back since I felt like I was not welcomed in at all. :/ Update; the egg they use in the bagel upset my stomach so bad!! I come here almost every day with my pup. It's our routine pitstop. And what's more is I love them even more in the fall because of their pumpkin bagel. Tammy is super smart. She always remembers the customers orders. One day I was shocked to see she remembered a customers order who was visiting them after a year!! I mean that simply says a lot on how they value their customers. Apart from that their variety of bagels and cream cheese are super. Awesome bagel shop near my home! I like to walk over and get a bagel sandwich weekend mornings, and the owners are so super friendly. I always get the veggie avocado sandwich, and I love how they put a lot of veggies in the sandwich. It's a pretty filling breakfast and the price reasonable, although it has gone up a lot compared to the past. I recommend you come early because a lot of the tasty bagels get sold out pretty fast. read more

After coming here so many times I feel like writing a review for the sandwich cafe. Its freaking good. Every time I come here I order California Club with bagel roll. The bagel roll is so soft inside and extremely crunchy outside which makes it perrrrrrfect. For some reason I can't talk myself into buying something different here. I guess I'm not getting along with myself. $5.99 for a good size sandwich. Good job indeed. Seating inside and plenty outside as well. Ahhhh their veggie avocado sandwich (on a dutch crunch roll!) is preposterously incredible. It's a little weird that they charge more to have your sandwich on a roll than a bagel (and it's a little unclear with how they list it on the menu), but all right. If you're going to just go ahead and assume that I want sprouts on my sandwich, without even asking, you're an all right place by me. For 90 cents more you can add a fountain drink (free refills!) and a bag of chips-- totally fair deal. Sit outside in the sun on a nice day, and live a long life of no regrets. Expansive menu (more than your average bagel cafe!) with lots of vegetarian options. Next time, I'll have to actually try one of their bagels... And hope they don't forget that I asked for no pickles on my sandwich :( read more

Great bagels! I tried the poppy seed and the cinnamon raisin with plain cream cheese, both were excellent. Just the right amount of softness and chewiness. My daughter loved her turkey sandwich bagel, and my husband got the bagel dog which had a huge sausage dog inside, looked insane! Everything we tried we loved. The coffee was nice and strong, and I also got an orange juice. Prices were average for the area. The lady behind the counter was so nice and smiled a lot and was very patient as I tried to decide what I wanted. I would definitely come back here again! read more

Staff here was fairly helpful. I felt severely mislead as my iPhone Yelp app labeled this place as a Noah's. I had ordered a blueberry with cream cheese and S picked up a strawberry croissant. Major star losses when they refused to toast his croissant and sent it through the microwave like contraption. My bagel was nicely toasted. Definitely enjoyable. The unenjoyable part was the cream cheese. They didn't bother spreading the cream cheese. It came as a one inch thick blob in the center. Bleh. 5 dollar minimum on credit card purchases. I give it a 7/10. I compare every bagel I eat to the pesto one from Posh, so I figure this one deserves a four just for trying. But I'm leaning towards 4 stars because the veggie schmear is better than most others. The bagels are a bit too doughy/bready for me, but if that's your thing then this place is perfect for you. The prices are usually a little bit less than bigger brand bagels, but sometimes the selection gets very low later on in the day. Usually I can find something I like (out of pesto, cheese, or onion) but I had to settle for a garlic bagel last week because they were out of everyyyything. This a nice little shop that went from solid food to amazing when I discovered their sandwiches. I usually get a corn beef sandwich with everything on it and Dutch crunch bread. You must try the Dutch crunch! It's so good and it's NOT the type of Dutch crunch that will easily scratch the top of your mouth if you know what I mean. I'm on the verge of saying one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The bagels are good but not quite as good as the sandwich IMO. Remember that there is a $5 min for credit card and ask for a stamp card for sandwiches. Stamp card doesn't apply to single bagels. I forget if it works for bagel sandwiches. read more

I love Bagel Street Cafe! They are located in the El Monte/El Camino shopping center, at the corner. On Saturdays, you can see a bunch of the classic car owners meet up here and their cars are parked in the lot closest to this shop. It's a great place to grab some breakfast with little kids who want to see these cool cars. They make tasty bagel sandwiches. My husband is from New Jersey so he's pretty critical about bagels, so the fact that he likes this place speaks volumes. He does insist theyre still not *real* bagels, but that they are still pretty tasty! They have a couple fridges filled with drinks plus you can also get hot coffee there, to go with your bagels. Lots of snacks too: chips like Lay's or Pringles and sweets like Starbursts or M&Ms. When you walk in, you'll see a display case with at least 15-20 different types of bagels: whole wheat, corn, bialy, everything seed, plain, blueberry, parmesan cheese, etc. Some of them are considered "premium bagels" (the ones with cheese mostly) and cost a little more. The more popular flavors sell out quickly on weekends. They also have lots of cream cheese flavors. You can get plain or pay a little more for a flavored one. The deluxe flavor is the lox cream cheese. If you want something a little heartier, you can get a bagel sandwich. It's a quarter more for a bagel roll (which is the bagel dough but rolled into more of a sandwich roll than a traditional bagel). The sandwich comes with a bunch of vegetable toppings (tomato, lettuce, spouts, cucumbers, onions) and spreads (mustard and mayo). If you want, you can add cheese for an extra dollar. The base price for the core of the sandwich changes based on the meat (lox, for example, is the most expensive whereas you can get pastrami or ham for cheaper). You could also get a pizza bagel! I've never had one, but they look tasty. They also have a separate display case for other baked goods, like muffins or bear claws, etc. Everyone who works here is super nice, friendly, and work as quickly as possible. I would've been ok with it, though, if they'd just told me that from the start. Instead, the guy said they'd have more bagels out within ten minutes. I got in line to order. There were only three other people in the shop, yet it took me seven minutes, because the line made no sense and people kept getting confused about who was next. I finally get to the front and they tell me the only bagels being cooked are plain. I just went across the street to the pizza place. Not the greatest first impression from my only visit to Bagel Street Cafe so far. The lattes were good and the service was fast and easy. I got a marinara bagel with jalapeno spread on top of it. First of all, I've never heard of a marinara bagel and thought it was really good. It was pretty similar to marinara bread at an Italian restaurant. Unfortunately, the jalapeno spread was just regular cream cheese with tiny chunks of red and green jalapeno in it, which gave it no flavor and was pretty underwhelming. Especially compared to places like Noah's Bagels that make amazing salsa spreads. My friend also got one of the eggwiches, ordered and paid for it with sausage, and we realized it came with no sausage when we got home. Lame. I'd be down to give it another try sometime and hopefully get better options. read more
