Four stars for a surprisingly pleasent experience, from a restaurant that delivers on its name. I planned ahead of time to stop by Sunday morning but I was running late so, I decided I was not going to go anymore. But as I was leaving my apartment I ended up turning right to head towards the restaurant, Bagels Plus, rather than where as was supposed to go. At this point, I came to turn to terms with the fact that I was going to be late. But to my pleasant surprise. I was not. When I arrived, the line was fairly long (about five people deep); but they just cut everything moving. Although I wasn't in and out in 2 minutes it took much shorter than I expected (and much shorter than it would have at other establishments). As for the food, I ordered the onion bagel with a veggie cream cheese. Since I was in such a hurry, I did not get my bagel toasted (which is how I prefer it). And again, to my pleasant surprise, as I bit into the bagel it was still warm!! Nice chewy texture, slight crunch on the outside and good flavor from the onion flakes and veggie cream cheese. This establishment also offers other bread-based goods, outside of bagels, but they did not look that appealing. The building itself is old and is not that great looking on the inside or outside. But I I would not say it was dirty. This establishment is fairly small and you can see inside the kitchen right next to the prep counter, the big pot where they boil their bagels; all them looks like they were made by hand. I really appreciated the fact that I could see them making the product and again once I taste it, I could taste the handmade quality. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for a good, fresh, handmade bagel. read more

Everyone at work loves these bagels so much that we've asked management to get them for breakfast meetings. How have I lived in Tampa for 14 years and visited this amazing bagel place dozens of times and never reviewed it? Let me start of by saying I am originally from NY. Not upstate, aka South Canada. I mean NY City. And let me tell you, I know bagels. I can tell a fresh bagel from a piece of garbage from Einstein 200 feet away. Bagels Plus is the real deal. They hand make their bagels the right way by boiling them then baking them. Crunchy in the outside and soft on the inside. They have the best egg bagel and everything bagel I've ever had. Steve, the owner, is quite a character. He trades black and white cookies for fist bumps or high fives with the kids. He has a repertoire of "jokes/gags" and is an all around nice guy. He gives so much back to the community. There is zero ambiance in this bagel joint, but would you expect otherwise? This is the place you go to grab a cup of coffee, a bagel with a smear and to read the paper for an hour. It is exactly as it should be, which is awesome. read more

I stopped at Bagels Plus while on this side of town because the previous reviews had photos that reminded me of bagels spots from up north. When I got there though, I was a little disappointed to find that they had a relatively limited selection of bagels & the prices seemed pretty high for what it was ($5 for a bagel with cream cheese & $8+ for a simple egg sandwich). I don't normally eat a big breakfast and was in a bit of a rush anyway, so I decided to just get a bagel ($1.44) but they DOUBLED the price to toast it and put butter on it ($2.88)! and it didn't even taste remotely fresh (very chewy/rubbery)! The only reason for the 2 stars is that they were pretty fast and it was relatively busy, so apparently not everyone was as disappointed as me, but I'll never be back. read more

The kids like this shop. Really neat shop. All the employees work very well together. Even when busy they are quick. I got the egg and cheese on everything bagel. The egg was really good. Cooked just right and scrambled the way scrambled eggs should be cooked. The bagel was ok. A little more breast than I like but overall the breakfast sandwich was good. Shop was clean and efficient. We ate outside and the patio is dog friendly since we have a dog that is a must and earned an extra star! There is a dine in part as well if you are staying out of the weather. read more

I was on the highway and wanted a quick meal! This is a little free standing, independent bagel shop and I was overwhelmed when I walked thru the door! They have dozens of bagel AND cream cheese options! The bagel on its own has a crunchy exterior and a soft interior. And the bagel sandwiches are HUGE! I've come here about 3 times and the food is good. My partner loves this place and would eat here all the time if I let them. Like I said the bagels are good and really filling I wish they would have a sign telling people not to lean over the glass where the food is because nobody wants to eat a bagel after someone has been breathing all over the toppings. Was eating my meal talking with friends when an older man starting yelling at me for my language (mind you this is in a college town), I was caught off guard all around so I just nervously laughed back to him, in response the man called me a tramp and started recording me. From there it all went downhill, the worker, an adult woman, started saying my mother needed to smack me and I was an awful person for making fun of the elderly. Not once did I make fun of anyone, I just nervously laughed to being yelled at for talking amongst my table and being recorded. I told the woman the man called me a tramp in which everyone responded "if the shoe fits". The worker continued to talk about me, yell at me, and cause a scene in the middle of the restaurant instead of doing her job. Continuously saying I needed to be smacked and I was making fun of the elderly and had no morals. Food was good and the other workers didn't engage much but I wouldn't support this place and I just hope that woman's daughter is treated this way in the future. read more

You get your money's worth and they never short us with toppings. I get a warm plain bagel with chive cream cheese. It never disappoints. More like, cream cheese with a side of bagel! They load each side up with cream cheese and they cut it for you so you can eat it easier. I sometimes add an apple or cherry turnover to my order at the end because they look so good and taste even better. Love the salt bagels, especially out of the oven and the poppy seed, onion, garlic. The everything and on and on. It seems family owned. Bagels Plus has the best tasting bagels around, so soft and so much flavor. I've heard the bagels here are very similar to New York bagels and that they use water from New York somehow, Haha. Sometimes I'll hear people talking about other bagel joints and I can't help to say, "Yeah, but have you tried Bagel Plus in North Tampa?". They offer a nice variation of bagels to choose from and an assortment of cream cheeses, as well as breakfast sandwiches, and pastries at very reasonable prices. Yesterday I stopped by and picked up eight bagels, a 1/2 pound of chive cream cheese, and a ¼ pound of honey walnut cream cheese it cost me about $16 bucks. I love the sun-dried tomato bagel with chive cream cheese. The honey bagel is great for kids with the walnut honey cream cheese. Bagel Plus seems to be a family owned spot with little to no advertising. I can't even find a website. I love this bagel place! I am from NY and it had been difficult to find bagels that are good down in the Sunshine State. A family member let me know about this place. My partner and I went and loved it! I ordered an everything bagel with lox and cream cheese. I enjoyed it and there are enough lox for two sandwiches. I came to Bagels Plus for breakfast at the recommendation of a friend. This place isn't the prettiest or nicest but I enjoyed my bagel. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating. The staff was also wearing masks and gloves in compliance with requirements. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese everything bagel sandwich. It was pretty good. The egg tasted fresh. The sausage was microwaved and I wish it was cooked in a skillet but it wasn't too bad. I also got a coffee and it was pretty strong! Lady told me they start cleaning up the place 30 minutes prior to closing so everyone gets out on time. Valid but tell me why it was 4:10 when she said it and everything was wrapped up already. Charged 8$ or something for an bacon egg and cheese that she cooked in the microwave bc grill was cleaned already and 14$ to have a single slice of salmon folded in half which caused it didn't even cover the entire bagel. I would have been happier not having it folded as it would have save me the hassle of disassembling it. The egg tasted of styrofoam with two slices of bacon. Most the red you see on the lox is the tomato. For a place that makes their bagels daily it's confusing how by the end of the day they're stale AF already despite being toasted. Anyhow only good thing about this place was that it inspired me to make my own bagels. Place is a total rip off. Was really excited to try this place due to a recommendation. Rolled her eyes multiple times. There is also an older women with bags under her eyes, probably the main owner? Who knows. I went in the other day and was curious what muffins they had since the younger girl on the line was 5 orders behind and hadn't even acknowledged us yet.
