Finagle a Bagel specializes in, surprise, bagels! I stopped in for a bagels a couple of times - once for an egg sandwich with ham and another time for a toasted bagel with cream cheese. Finagle a Bagel's, single remaining store is a negative reflection on their once enterprise, and once, legendary history. Finagle a Bagel, bagels are OK, as are their sandwiches, and breakfast entrees. Prices are high. Quality, flavor/taste and texture is pretty good. Finagle a Bagel's 535 Boylston Street store is a mess. I wish I had taken a picture of the once upholstered benches in the two booths, upstairs. There is no upholstery left on the once upholstered benches. Again, it seems that on every visit, the bathrooms (the men's and the women's bathrooms) have signs on their doors, that they say that the bathroom's are Out of Service (see the attached photos). I placed an online order today for two sandwiches--one smoked salmon and scrambled egg on an onion bagel, and one traditional bacon, egg, and cheese on a sea salt bagel. What I received was incredibly disappointing. Both sandwiches arrived completely unassembled in styrofoam containers. Not only was that unexpected, but I didn't even receive the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. On top of that, one of the sandwiches came on the wrong types of bagel. For $25, this is unacceptable. At a minimum, I expected to receive the correct order, assembled properly. The lack of care and attention to detail is honestly baffling. I would've gladly waited a few more minutes for food made right instead of being handed this rushed, careless mess. read more

LOVED this bagel place. We were staying at the Marriott Copley and it was a close walk to this bagel shop. They were packed, but able to get our orders out fast. I was thoroughly entertained with the bagel cutting treadmill too. I got an Asiago bagel with plain cream cheese and my aunt got bagel with lox. This is my go-to place when I am in the Copley Square area and need a quick bite. Sorry to see the hours have been reduced so they close at 3pm! The bagels are fantastic, lots of varieties of bagels and toppings, not just cream cheese but sandwich type toppings/contents. I always go for the bagel and cream cheese: cinnamon raisin, onion and sesame are my favorite bagels, with olive-pimento cream cheese. For cream cheese addicts like me, you can request extra cream cheese (for a small charge I think). Service is great, and speedy for the most part, except when they have too few cashiers for the patrons waiting out the door to be served. That's why the 4 stars instead of five--this is very frustrating when one is in a hurry. The folks fulfilling the orders are organized and fast, so that's a plus. As noted in other reviews the upstairs seating provides a lovely view of Boylston street, a side of Trinity Church and the plaza in front of it (not so pleasant at the moment as there is major construction to upgrade the plaza, but it should return to fantastic once completed). NOT PEANUT/ TREENUT FRIENDLY!! Wasn't really anywhere that stated this on their website or online, but we found out once we arrived. My girlfriend is deathly allergic so she was sad she couldn't eat here. My sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel was very good, definitely a nice flavor. A good choice for a straightforward way to get food relatively inexpensively (for Copley) with a decent place to sit. I'd had a meeting near Copley Square and was headed toward Downtown Crossing but needed sustenance. Nothing fancy. I started walking and passed a lot of cool places but everything seemed to require a huge investment of time, money, and psychic space. I kept thinking, doesn't someone just do an english muffin or... and that's when I saw Finagle A Bagel. It was lightly populated and service was quick at the counter. They guy actually preparing the bagel didn't even ask for my number. It's small enough that he knew that I was the one who ordered the toasted poppy seed bagel with butter (mmm! my fave!). As he handed me my bag, I noticed a stair to an upper level, and although it's not labeled as part of the restaurant, it seemed like a good bet. I ascended the stairs with my bagel and diet-coke in hand and this is where the extra star come from. It's a large room with ample seating, tables and booths and a string of bar-like seats at a window overlooking Boylston. Perfect! And while everything was a little worn and dated, it was reasonably clean. Not sparkling but it was clear that someone who works there must police it now and then. It could be a place to get some work done. Or to just (as I did) get a bit of ordinary sustenance. My bagel was very good and perfectly buttered. Don't get me wrong, they serve all the fancy bagel sammies and other stuff, too. But it's nice to know that you can get something simple. BTW, the bagels were freshly baked and being dumped out of the pan when I entered around noon on a weekday. Yay! Bagel sandwich wasn't bad, nor was the standard bagel, but they didn't change my life. Also, I kinda felt like they were cheating on my onion bagel by taking a plain bagel and just coating the outside with dehydrated onions. It was fine, but nothing special. I've noticed Finagle A Bagel several times on Boylston & have just gotten around to trying this place. I had no idea Finagle was even a Boston chain! Overall, a very solid experience. I ordered an everything bagel sandwich with egg, cheese & ham. My boyfriend got an everything bagel, egg, bacon, cheese & avocado. They did forget to put the bacon on his sandwich, but they were kind and added it for us when I went back to the counter. For $22 bucks (& including two waters) it wasn't horrible! The taste was good, but nothing spectacular. I truly prefer a runny egg & that is why I wouldn't give a 4th star. Will be back! read more

Finagle A Bagel at Copley Square was one of my favorite bagel spots in Boston. I order from here at least once a week as I work nearby and would get the "Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese" (Lox) bagel sandwich. Due to the whole coronavirus situation keeping everyone working from home, I havent had the Lox bagel in weeks and had been craving it. I order ahead, reconfirming on the phone at the end of the call to make sure my order was correct. I walk several miles to Finagle A Bagel to grab my sandwiches, ready to eat a bagel with smoky smoked salmon, juicy tomatoes, spicy capers and onions, creamy cream cheese, and topped off with a flavorful everything bagel. Instead, I am greeted at the cashier by him pulling his shirt over his nose and mouth. I suspect this is because I am asian. This lasts the entire interaction until iI leave the store. I brush this aside and quickly pay for the sandwiches and leave, as I just wanted to leave the store after such a clearly racist interaction. I get home, excited to open up the sandwich I've been craving but instead received the saddest looking lox bagel I've ever seen. See attached. Tons of cream cheese, shredded bits of salmon, and no sight of any other ingredients. Put two and two together. The racist interaction I had with the cashier and the worst bagel I've ever seen. I asked for a toasted bagel with cream cheese and salmon I actually got cream cheese and salmon spread. Not exactly what I ordered but it tasted pretty good I was curious why I only paid seven dollars for a coffee and a bagel with cream cheese and salmon when I went into my vehicle I found out. Service was fast but apparently not perfect since I got the wrong order. The coffee was made perfectly since when you get an iced coffee they give it to you black you put your own milk in. I ate breakfast here several days a week for the entire first year I moved to the neighborhood! I bought some kind of Groupon so that I could eat half price, making their sandwiches less than $3 each. The bottom line is that their food is good.
