Ok, so keeping in mind I am new to Miami. I didn't know anything about this place or the history…read more My husband and I had a rare date night and wanted to get a drink somewhere after dinner but before we went home. The first bar we tried didn't work out (long story) and my husband mentioned having seen an interesting bar next to Pisco y Nazca where we had been a few times. So off we went. It was around 9:00 pm, and there was only like one other couple there. My understanding is it's more of a club vibe later so that's prob why. It is all outdoors with a bar across the back. It looked nice and was decorated for Christmas. We chose to stand at the bar instead of sitting at a table which seemed to have service. We ended up ordering a cocktail each (amaretto sour and mojito). There weren't any prices on the menu (except for the specialty cocktails which they were out of). Our total for the two drinks came to $42! So I paused and asked if the tip had already been added, and the bartender sort of mumbled something about "no", so I asked if the drinks were actually $20 each. (I mean, we're in Kendall, not South Beach!) So then he showed me the receipt that showed the drinks were $16.50 each and an auto grat of 20%+ had already been added. I did not add an additional tip on top of that. But the experience was in line with some of what I read here (afterwards) of them being a little scammy financially. I'd give it 1 star but the drinks were fine and I could see the vibe being fun once more people showed up.

From the moment we sat down, the guy looked annoyed that we were there. Zero greeting, zero eye contact. We waited almost 10 minutes just to get acknowledged while he was chatting with another customers at the other end of the bar. When he finally took our order, he barely listened. I asked for a classic Old Fashioned and he brought me something that tasted like watered-down whiskey with too much bitters and a random orange slice thrown in. My friend's whiskey sour was unbalanced -- definitely not worth the $18 price tag. I politely mentioned to recommend us another drinks options he just shrugged and said "we don't have that" Not offer another choice or an apology. The drinks were mediocre at best, but his attitude made it worse. He ignored us most of the night and acted annoyed every time we ordered. Zero professionalism. The place has a great vibe but with service like this, is not worth to spend almost $200 dollars there for few drinks. I don't remember his name but he was tall, Latin and maybe from Colombia. We just wanted to report his behavior to management but in a Saturday's night you just don't want to ruined more. Next.

One of my friends had a couple of Bloody Marys, one had a couple of spicy Margaritas. She said she liked the jalapeno one better than the habanero. First entree came out in 10 minutes. 5-10 minutes later the second entree came (it was toasted bagels with their accompaniments on a tower... so like the easiest item ever). After waiting about 50 minutes total our final entree arrived... a breakfast pizza. So I guess don't go here if you intend to eat together? Or want hot food. No communication except at the 30 minute mark of waiting a random person came to tell us that the pizza was working. Our server abandoned us, so we never got a second round while waiting almost an hour for our food. She apparently was too busy taking the second table to walk in. No one apologized for the wait on food. None of what we ordered tasted good. I guess with cold food that's hard to judge though. My avocado toast had a full field of micro greens that covered up any other flavor it might have had. I'm sure the crowd of middle aged dinners appreciated the DJ though. Cuz this is Miami and that's how things are done. Slow, inconsiderate, and loud.

The aesthetic, food options, temperature (cool), and noise level (loud) were as expected for an upscale sports bar. We were seated quickly at a booth and greeted by our server Valorie. Valorie was sweet, helpful, and welcoming. Since she was new, various employees stopped by our table to see if she needed help and give praise. This positive atmosphere was unique and much appreciated. We enjoyed each of the items we ordered and especially recommend the spinach artichoke dip (very garlicky). Our company has hosted several Happy Hours here and the staff truly goes above and beyond. The food served buffet style is constantly getting replenished and tastes as fresh and delicious. The drinks come out quickly even with such a large crowd. They even have a rewards program that helps build credits for restaurant dollars. I never get sick of this place.

To call Eddie's Place a dive bar doesn't quite do it justice. That makes it sound like some…read moredecrepit old watering hole that gave up on itself years ago, and that's not the case here. Eddie's, established in the early 70s, feels more like a career criminal who found religion, just got out, and now swears he's trying to get his life together. Would a true dive keep a decades-old black-and-white tube TV around so you can watch your car? Additional amenities include an ATM, a combination photo booth/jukebox, and even a cell phone charging station, which means Eddie somehow supports bad decisions and the evidence they leave behind. This isn't Eddie's Bistro or Eddie's Café, it's just his Place, so don't show up expecting anyone to cook for you. Aside from chips, the bar skips food altogether. Still, Eddie's plays to its strengths: it encourages you to bring your own food or order in, as long as you keep the bartenders busy. "Cocktails" arrive in ribbed plastic cups, but shots and beer arrive in proper glassware, which is this bar's version of caviar service. A free pool table anchors the room, while one corner hosts beer pong and another area for old-timers to throw darts. Drinks run from $6 to $12, and Happy Hour sweetens the deal with 2-for-1 wells until 8 p.m. That special feels a little sad Monday through Wednesday, when the bar opens at 7 PM. However, it absolutely slaps Thursday through Sunday, when doors open at 2 PM. I rolled in after The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is exactly the kind of demoralizing movie that demands a drink. It was Goth Night, although the DJ seemed to be the only person who got the memo. She kept the room moving with dark house and classic goth tracks, giving the Place the energy of a house party with a fog machine and a hit-heavy playlist. Eventually, she veered from Bauhaus and Combichrist into Bruno Mars and Calvin Harris, which felt less like genre betrayal and more like a Wedding DJ loosening their tie. Eddie's Place delivers the holy trinity of a proper neighborhood bar: cheap booze, zero pretension, and just enough chaos to make you stay for one last round over and over again.
