Can't believe I found this place on my last day here...darn it! The food here delicious, the decor is nice but the atmosphere can get really loud. Had the armadillo eggs, which were cheese stuffed jalepeno, battered and deep fried. These were really good with a little bit of kick for those that can't take the heat. Next on the appetizer list were the pork wings...I only ordered this to see what it could be and boy was it a great selection. It's 4 decent size pork spareribs that were perfectly seasoned and were just amazing on it's own without sauce on the side. They also have large selection of margaritas and if you don't during happy hours on Wednesday, many of them are buy one get one free. read more

Pretty good Mexican menu/food. Don't fillip on the chips and salsa that they bring you . I had the mahi fish tacos which were good. Scale 1-10 I give them a 7.5. The food was very good. Both of us had fajitas, one steak and the other chicken. Although they sauteed the meats in olive oil and I prefer grilled it was still good. They actually still serve a nice cheese blend that most Mexican restaurants omit these days. Service was great as well. read more

This place was amazing. The food wasn't the best Mexican food but it was still good and worth a try and worth going back for! The service was the best I've had ever anywhere. We received everything we needed and more, my sister was telling my friend and I that she was feeling cold and I told her to go get her jacket from the car, the manager or owner came over with a blanket! He also went on to explain he turned the fan off. We ordered sodas and chips and salsa with guacamole, we also ordered beef nachos and the Mexican pizza which was great. As we are bagging our things to go the owner or manager came over again and made sure we had lids for our sour creams and anything else and made sure to bag it for us. The waitress was nice as well and did a great job. The food tasted good reheated too when we came home which was good. Over all one of my the best restaurants ever. read more

Stopped in Baja Tuesday night on the recommendation of my sister. This place is a gem. It has quite an eclectic feel and the place was filled with a lively crowd. Hostess immediately brought us to our table and water and tortilla chips were promptly served. A waitress took our drink orders (sangria and a very cold Corona, sans the lime, thank you) and another friendly and helpful waitress quickly took our meal order. First, the portions are huge. You will not depart Baja seeking a late night snack. The steak burrito was excellent and the rice and beans were equally good. We also ordered a Steak Jalisco, sautéed in onions with melted cheese. Again, quite good! Great atmosphere, very friendly service, delicious Tex-Mex food and generous servings makes for a good combo! read more

We had the Mango Jalapeno tacos- to die for. the chicken was cooked to perfection and the sauce was more than delightful. we tried to go back to eat here before we left the Pompano area but it was sooo crowded and awe could not find a parking spot.. Had an awesome experience here for Cinco De Mayo. I called to make an order, had to call 3 times but I assume it's cause they were slammed with calls, I would suggest maybe having an online ordering system if you guys can handle it. The lady that took my order was very kind and helpful. They said 45 minutes and they were right on target. The parking lot was set up so nice for the holiday and they were very organized with parking spaces. A gentlemen came to my window, got my name, brought my food over, and took my payment. I got a quesadilla for my grandma who doesn't love Mexican food and she enjoyed it a lot. I got fajitas for myself which were delicious and I have leftovers for lunch. I also got the half gallon jug of margaritas which are no joke!! I was worried about them tasting like just juice but I could definitely taste the tequila! They even provided salt and limes to assemble my own at home. A little bag of chips and salsa came with my order for free which was a nice touch! When you see it from the outside your first thought is I am not going in their. There is tables out side but you are in the parking lot on what looks like their side walk. Once you go in you find a small but a lively place. When you look to the bar you see on the wall every kind of tequila you can think of and then some. It is a full bar bur they keep all the other liquor under the bar. The waitress all wear jeans and small tank tops and are very friendly. The menu has all the regular Mexican items you expect and then they have some really nice special items. I had the Voodoo chicken and it was great. The chips were fresh and the Salsa was chunky. Not as hot as I would have liked. Over all it was a good place to go to hang at a good price. read more

First of all, I am very critical when it comes to reviewing Mexican food. Living in California long enough to know what great authentic Mexican food tastes like makes me a little biased. With that said.....I will have to say Baja Cafe was overall a pretty good experience. We walked in and was seating immediately ...the first thing I noticed was the manager was ON TOP OF IT. He stopped by and made up for any refill or slowness from our server. (The server was really busy due to the place being packed.) As far as the food, if you are looking for authentic Mexican this is not the place.. has TexMex type menu, lots of smothered burrito options, flour shelled tacos..ect. Usually not my favorite, but I ordered the enchiladas and I would have to admit they were very good. They gave me some sort of house made hot sauce that made the dish even better. The atmosphere of the place was that it was run down and low lighting. That's the only way to describe it. One really downside to this place was the margaritas....I ordered a 12 dollar black diamond margarita and I felt it came in a shot glass. The rim was supposed to be salted with black margarita salt, but was sliding down the 10 oz glass (very sloppy looking) After my third sip, the thing was gone. I felt ripped off...literally. It is probably the only reason why I wouldn't return. If you are not a margarita drinker (as obviously I am) then you will enjoy this place. read more

Well, the place is awesome! First off, the salsa and chips are great. Second, we got a bucket of margaritas, enough for 4 people (we had 3) I'd say there were 8 drinks in there, and delish! Same with the food, delicious and plenty of it! We had to take some home! I had steak fajitas- awesome! My friends both had the Satans Revenge? A hot dish, it wasn't too hot that you couldnt eat it. Hot sauce was delicious, and we even got one to take home, and then the owner gave us a free one! Very nice staff and they all work together so you can ask anyone for whatever you need. Terrific Mexican restaurant. Went on a Tuesday night, the place was packed. We should have made a reservation. Places like this should not be this crowded after the snowbirds have left unless they are really good and this place is really good. Great vibe and the crowd is local and obviously enjoying themselves. Didn't hurt they have a ton of good tequila brands and the bartenders know how to make very good margaritas. Now, the food; a great menu with lots of excellent choices. We ordered the shrimp asada and the chicken fajitas. Excellent would be an understatement; very tasty with subtle flavors. Google the menu to see the ingredients but there were a dozen other dishes we could have ordered that looked great. Prices are reasonable and the service was excellent especially given how busy it was. A special thanks to a manager Joe who could be the hardest working manager I've seen. Among other things he helped bring the food out and I don't know how someone can hold these hot plates in bare hands. Plus he's funny enough to do stand up. Portions are large. Parking in front is tight but no problem if you're willing to walk a block which we did. Baja Cafe is a winner. read more

The food came out quickly and the margaritas were good and a typical price. They do a margarita special on Wednesdays. The waiter came over to take me and my girlfriend order, I asked the waiter which is more popular the kick ass burrito or the burrito of the angels, instead he told me what's on each burrito mind you it already tells you what's on the burrito on the menu. I can read. So I just ordered the kick ass burrito which was very bland(no flavor) and my girlfriend ordered the chicken quesadilla which was also bland. The only thing that was good was the fries, so I paid about $40(tip included) for some fries. Oh also had the margarita which was $7.99 and it seem like it had no tequila in it. Yum...The two for one DosEqis and Margaritas made the Saturday afternoon a blur of Enchiladas and Chimichangas... mixed in with black beans and rice @ refried beans...all with just the right amount of cheese...that is to say...just gobs. I don't know how I'm ever gonna get to Tanzi's because the gravitational pull of Baja's will suck you in like a black hole every time. You cannot just Drive by. In the same way, you cannot get to the dessert menu because of these damn chips. When they ask you if you want more, bight your lip, write NO on your napkin, and push your napkin in the direction of your waiter. They'll understand. I can't stop eating these damn chips. read more
