This was my first time at this Baja Fish on Jamboree. It was such a great experience and my family and I tried a variety of things. We had the delicious tacos de papa, enchilada de pollo, nachos, quesadilla and bowl. All of the plates were 10/10. You can go wrong with the flavors and portions. The staff is also really kind from walking in, to cleaning our tables after we were done. This Baja is very clean and new. The tables outside are perfect and there is so much parking in this shopping center. I would highly recommend people come try this restaurant out. read more

The line was out the door when I showed up -- always a good sign. I've been a fan of the Santa Ana locations for years, so I knew what I was walking into. This Tustin spot doesn't miss. I ordered three Ensenada-style tacos -- the only ones I ever go for. They're not huge, and they're not cheap, but the quality is there. The fish is hot and crisp, the cabbage fresh and crunchy, the white sauce adds a cool, creamy balance, and the tortillas have a soft chew that holds it all together without getting in the way. First taco -- plain. Straightforward and solid. Second -- hit it with heavy lime. Quick and in 3 clean bites. Third -- piled it on: cilantro dance party, pickled white onions from the salad bar, hot sauce, more lime. Messy in the best way. Expensive prices, low quality food, weak portion sizes and no flavor. We were excited when we saw this place was coming to our local plaza as this plaza was in need of some food variety. We came here on a weeknight and were excited to get a bunch of options. We ordered 4 different tacos and chips with salsa. Fried fish, shrimp, grilled fish and grilled chicken. The woman at the register who helped us was very nice and fast. She fit our orders quickly and we were lucky to find seats. Inside the restaurant was ok. Pretty typical OC ambiance and reminiscent of typical taqueria spot. The salsa and condiment bar was pretty small but it has the basics. Unfortunately from this point on, the experience was a complete letdown. When we received our food, it was really disappointing. Every single piece of fish we received was overcooked and therefore very dry. The portion size of the fish was very small and thin. The shrimp size and portion was also very small. The chicken was an ok size but it was extremely overcooked and therefore very very dry. The food gave the appearance of looking good but looks are often deceptive. We needed to drink so much water in order to eat our food bc the food was so overcooked and dry. The other unfortunate situation was that all of our food had little to no seasoning. None of the fish, shrimp or chicken had any flavor. Perhaps this establishment requires you to put your own salt and seasoning? It seemed as there was no salt on any of our food. As we looked around the restaurant, there were a number of other tables leaving with lots of uneaten food as well - perhaps bc the food was not enjoyable because it has no flavor. Perhaps this place still isn't fully up and running yet bc it's a new location. Anyway, I digree - we came here one evening after a hike at Peter's Canyon and it really hit the spot. The restaurant is on a small, obscure corner of the larger shopping center. It's spacious and clean. There's a salsa bar with staples. We ordered at the counter - the potato tacos, and some fish tacos. The Ensenade was good and the fish is meaty. In some ways I can appreciate that it's meatier fish, but there's also something to be said about a light, fluffy piece of battered fish. The potato tacos and the rice were legitimately the standouts for me. I think they put the right amount of crema and cotija to balance the flavors well on the taco and the rice was simple but yummy and flavorful. We've already visited a few times and it's quickly becoming one of our favorite local spots for fresh, flavorful Mexican food. I personally love their blackened chicken plate--the seasoning is perfect, with just the right amount of spice and char. I usually pair it with one of their salads, which are always crisp and refreshing, making for a satisfying and healthier meal option. My kids are big fans of the chicken and steak quesadillas. They're generously filled and come with gooey melted cheese--comfort food at its finest. The portions are great for little ones but honestly good enough for adults too! Oh myyyy! The place was pretty busy, A lot of workers from different places came to eat lunch during lunch hour. The cashier Yaczeni was Great! She was welcoming, friendly, suggestive and just overall a great person to be in the front of the restaurant. Although there was a lot of customers the service was fast, there was also a lot of workers. Food came out in less than 10 minutes, it was hot and fresh. The place was spacious and clean. Always friendly and accommodating service (I have some dietary restrictions and they always make the accommodations without any fuss). We love their rice and beans. Simple and tasty.
