Service was quick. Food was fresh. I had the turkey pesto. The sourdough was exquisite. The crunch was perfect. The kettle chips were fresh and the serving was large. The sandwich was huge, you can make it 2 meals if you wanted to and save some kettle chips for later. We sat outside and enjoyed the ambience of traffic and people passing by. I love that place but today morning one of the team did a very bad move that i didn't like. I arrived 7:52 am apparently the place open 8:00 am i didn't know that, but before i park i can see from the glass window that there are people inside working. I parked the truck and went down to open the door 5 min before they open and i noticed the worker ran to the door to close it and gave me her back and walked away. Then she kept looking back at me standing at the door. Well i understand i came early 5 min. But it could have been easier wait till i open the door and tell me sorry we are not open yet give us 5 min or even 1 hour , it doesn't matter but that was very rude. The service at this establishment is significantly delayed, and the kitchen environment is quite noisy. The tap water has an off-putting taste, and the prices are relatively high. Additionally, I observed a cockroach during my visit. The food quality is inconsistent, with the exception of the sandwiches and French toast. Overall, the experience does not justify the cost or the wait time, as demonstrated by my 45-minute wait for an overpriced bowl of oatmeal. I absolutely love Bakery Lorraine, especially when I'm getting some work done. I generally LOVE going in the mornings to get the Avocado on Toast, which I'm sure you noticed I'm obsessed with! The staff is always so welcoming and friendly. I even walked in one time and sat down to finish a long assignment before ordering, and one of the baristas brought me a coffee on the house:) The pastries are also amazing! Wow! Impressive 'desserts'! Instead of ordering a special sandwich, like those I saw other guests had, I decided on several fun and delicious 'cakes'. this trip I bought a red berry cake and Boston cream cake. I had also requested their new-Spring pistachio eclair, but didn't receive ( or pay) for it. The two slices were too yummy to even bother returning to the counter for the eclair. I also bought one each of their macaroons (6/$13). The place is relatively new ( 2018) and patronized by young 20s? It is also popular also for their free WIFI, as several were using their laptops. Raise the structure, cheaper than a wrongful injury lawsuit. $13 breakfast plate... scrambled ? eggs, toast, sausage - extremely pricey at best, over $4 for maybe 8 oz orange juice - extremely over the top expensive for orange juice... four people breakfast $80... way too much profit... other places to enjoy breakfast - better quality food for at least half of Bakery Lorraine. Asked if they had decaf iced coffee. They said yes. I ordered that. Once I got the receipt I asked why I was charged $7.50. They said they only had decaf lattes so they charged me for that and added an extra fee. $7.50 for something that was suppose to be $3.25. Then they added on their service fee and tip. Refused to acknowledge that they screwed up and refund any part of it. Almost $19 for 2 coffees and a cookie - DO NOT RECOMMEND! Complete rip off and mediocre coffee. The staff is oddly pretentious. I've lived many places from Los Angeles to Athens, and nowhere have I spotted the level of unexplained pretentiousness young people in San Antonio display. Stopped by to get some goodies for some clients and decided to purchase 1/2 a dozen to take home to my boys in Cali. They made it safe and sound. The 2 guys working were very nice and patient, allowed us to sample some of the macarons and even gave us coffee on the house. We also purchased cookies for our clients but I didn't get to try and of them, everything looked good, fresh and gourmet. My favorite macaron was the strawberry (has a jelly surprise center) and earl grey (taste like fruit loops just like the guy said it would). Bakery Lorraine at the Rim is the slower of the location compared to the Pearl, but definitely has everything other locations do. It's more spacious, and open with the line well divided out from the seating area. My addiction at Bakery Lorraine is their pop tarts. Once you try their version, you can never go back to the store bought poptarts. My friends mention it as a life changer. The sandwiches are really good here as well. I've had their egg salad sandwiches and it was perfect. This visit was my birthday week so I had to treat myself to one of their desserts. I chose their strawberry lavender tart. It's not too sweet, savory, flaky layers of crisp with strawberries and a fragrant lavender smell. Definitely a winner. One downside about this location is the parking though. I ventured into this location after stopping by FedEx to ship out some next day mail. It's a pretty "sweet" location at The Rim (See what i did there) Located right next to a Verizon, UPS, FedEx and Cold-stone. Outside and in Bakery Lorraine has a pretty chic look. I really liked the decor, specifically the pictures as you walk in. The employees were also warm and welcoming. Upon finding out it was my first time at a Lorraine Bakery I was also offered one of their signature "Earl Grey" Macaron. Tasted like a fruit loop and I dug it. The Desert Display was: [ ] Colorful. [ ]Beautiful. [ ]Artsy. [X] All of the above. For me that's about where the super positive ends and the average begins... The fruit tart was my favorite of the two deserts I tried but it felt like the fruit carried the whole dish. E.g. I could have gone to the store, put strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries on a spoon with cream cheese; and took a bite. Would almost accomplish the same mission. The cream wasn't terrible, but it wasn't WOW! I think the main detraction from this specific dessert was that it tasted like a "Display Dessert." The actual pasty portion was very hard to the bite. And the PASTRY is the most important element of this dessert here. After trying the tart I wanted to give another dessert a try. I was hoping that maybe it was just that specific dish I didn't like. My second attempt was with the Lemon Cake. AGAIN. It was beautifully crafted and looked like a work of art. (The only thing I didn't get were the purple sugar flakes they put on top. It looked like something fell on the cake and they just left it there.) Moving on... Looked fantastic! Tasted ..meh. The lemon topping was more like a gelatin and I think I was expecting smooth and lite. With this dish I was also left wanting more meringue. So at this bakery, what was my favorite aside from looks? Their coffee. I ordered the Mocha. The funny thing about this, as my picture shows, it didn't look fancy as I've seen in other Cappuccinos made here. But staying consistent with location and being contrary to their looks, It tasted SOOO Good. It was a perfect blend of chocolate and espresso. Mmm. Macarons: The one I tried was really good so I imagine the rest follow suit. I am a traditionalist though and most of their flavors were "different." E.g Pistachio or Earl Grey. Give me some plain old chocolate or strawberry or raspberry. Any *berry by itself. Again, the Earl Grey tasted good, but I would say there should be some standard flavors to back up their creative ones. Oh and one last little thing/complaint. I was sitting at the window and one of the girls came out and started to clean the windows with Windex. She stopped before finishing so I am guessing she rethought her decision to do it right next to me. I wasn't particularly enjoying the smell of Windex mist in my face as I finished my coffee and dessert. Come on Bakery Lorraine! Judging by some other reviews from both here and other locations you guys can do better! As I said, everything looks beautiful. But it's the simple things that make the great stand out from the standard. As I stated in the beginning, 5 star looks and overall service, 2 star taste. Overall 3 1/4 stars from me. I have tried this place a few times and each time I was very satisfied and pleasantly surprised on a few menu items. Their croissants are always fresh. I tried their avocado toast recently on door dash and was surprised with their take on avo toast. They do this pickled lentil that makes it extra tasty and different than other places. Each item is moderately priced around $5-12 depending on your order (it is worth it). The red velvet cake was a moist three layered slice topped with creamy light frosting. It was not overwhelming sweet but just the right amount. The coffee pudding has good consistency, moist rich flavors and a strong coffee aroma with every spoon full. Wife and I went for brunch on Sunday. You'll need to wear a mask to order but then of course can remove it once you're seated at your table. They seemed to do a great jobs cleaning tables as well as chairs/benches. They have sanitizer on every table. And best of all, great food. On Friday, March 12, we went out to this place to eat breakfast with the kids. The food is always amazing, but the ladies working the bakery side and cashier were extremely rude and unapproachable. COVID is no excuse to disregard basic human courtesy so let's get that out of the way. There is no need to hear huffing and puffing on top of seeing a lot of eye rolls when paying for a service. It's been awhile since I've visited a Lorraine Bakery, I've been going to La Panaderia Omar the Rim but this morning I made a U turn and came to Lorraine at the Rim. Sad to say it was a HUGE disappointment. I ordered their French Toast ($13) which were 3 fried pieces of dough type inside. It felt like I was eating raw biscuits. I couldn't finish it even though I was throwing away $13. The Americano coffee ($4.50) was great BUT when I asked for a refill I got charged another $4.50 which is fine with me but they brought me a warm cup of coffee which tells me they just poured whatever they had in the back. I asked them to please do a fresh cup for me. The cashier, place his hand on the cup to feel the temp and agreed that it was warm but he didn't even look at me to apologize. So to summarize, their customer service and food are not worth another visit. read more

Friendly staff, clean, and open late. i've never had an issue with bakery lorraine but i fear it is a little inconsistent. the cheesy bread that comes with the bowl of tomato soup usually has a some sort of bechamel sauce that's been crisped at the top. it's phenomenal. i'm not sure what happened here. this isn't an issue of like never coming back but more that there has been a standard set by bakery lorraine that wasn't met today. my own fault for not checking my food before i left the premises.
