Hands down the best baklava I've ever eaten. As I was stalking down the various pastries through the glass, I was salivating in which case I was glad I was wearing a mask but the hunger was still in my eyes. I only ever really order the pistachio traditional baklava. There's no way that is ever wrong. I've had a few baklava's in my lifetime, from restaurants to bakery, any place that offers baklava I try it. But this is so gooey, so chewy, so crispy and so flakey there is no other sensation in this world that can replicate this feeling I've only been here twice. I was in Pasadena for work this weekend and also visiting my sisters old neighborhood of Pasadena. We came here for desserts to take back home in San Diego. Service was friendly and great especially we walked in the door 15 minutes before closing. The place is clean and organized. No prices thou you get the items weighed. What's particular was that my dessert was not weighed, she gave a random number. I elected to assemble a large tray, but gave her full control to pick her recommendations. Came in today around 2:00 p.m. to order the cream filled baklava been here many times I asked the lady is this fresh from today she lied to me and said yes it was delivered today. The cream filled baklava was soggy and even almost slimy, it was not fresh it was at least more than a few days old. It's pathetic to me that they would lie to you about the freshness of what they're selling you. And when I tell her she just says okay no problem okay whatever just to hang up the phone on me and continue like whatever. I asked if she could please put the baklavas in a small box with a lid on which was behind her and she with the WORST ATTITUDE said "No your getting 3 baklava's and your asking for a box with lid?? Here are some tips for you: first of all wear your freakin mask before handing uncovered baklavas to your customers! Huge selection of baklava made with several types of nuts, a pound runs $11.99 which is about 12 pieces, so I think fair considering how much work goes into making it and that none of the ingredients (nuts, honey) are cheap by any means. The lady working was very nice and every single one I purchased with better than the last. Not too sweet, but still dripping with honey as they should be. The nuts add the perfect crunch, I should have gotten more. If you are anywhere in the area, this is the perfect spot for a sweet treat, I cannot wait to come back and stock up since they also keep very well. I've walked by Baklava Factory many times and had the will power to resist those extra calories until today. My favorite baklava is one that isn't too soggy with an excess amount of honey and lots of walnuts. They have lots of various options for baklava. I really like the walnut bird's nest. Those are baked with about a tablespoon of chopped walnuts, a small touch of honey and the fillo dough is under the walnuts in the shape of a little bird's next, hence the name. They are very good. We ordered about 8 miscellaneous items for about $7.00. Liz O. writes in her review dated 2/6/13 that the cost is $11.00 per pound which sounds right. It is not specifically listed on their website. Doing some shopping in Glendale, I needed to take a coffee break, so I hit up my trusty Yelp app to find a cafe. Instead, I find this, which immediately caugt my attention. Still unable to decide, I followed an older woman and ordered some of the items she picked out. The "fingers" were very good. They're small, flaky and ligtly sweetened, which doesn't mask the nutty flavor. It leaves a nice after taste that left me wanting more. One of the best I've had. I can easily go through a half dozen w/o feeling like my teeth are rotting. Also tried a few other types (cannot recall names as I just pointed to them) but they're all flaky, crispy & nutty, tough some are sweeter than others. We also tried an item that resembles a trail mix bar. It contains chopped walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, pistachios & cranberries, all held together by a honey drizzle. Very nutty to say the least, and not too sweet. But you'll need to floss afterwards. I chose several kinds from the shredded walnut, pistachio, the round ones drizzled with chocolate, regular baklava with pistachio and walnut, bird's nest etc etc. While everything is very good my favorite has to be pistachio baklava and the bird's nest. Everything has a little too much syrup and is too sweet/wet with it to the best I've ever had but the bird's nest didn't have as much syrup so was the closest thing and my favorite. This is Baklava heaven! The display was filled with a large assortment of delicious desserts and I wanted it all. We ended up getting a small tray with 2 fingers, 1 burma pistachio, 1 greek style with pistachios, 1 traditional with walnut, and 1 (forgot the name) big custard like square with green layer on top. The service was great too, the young girl with blonde hair was very nice and helpful with giving recommendations since it was our first time there. The big green square with a custard like texture was okay. It wasn't that sweet so it tasted underwhelming compared to the other desserts. The Burma pistachio was alright as well. Very crunchy from the nuts but a little dry. The fingers were really good. They were perfect two-bite sized pieces so you don't make a mess when you're eating them. My absolute favorites were the greek style and traditional baklava! They were so good that after we finished eating our plate of dessert we bought another 4 of each to bring back home. The baklava consists of thin flaky layers on top of a thick layer of syrup soaked nuts and it's perfection. After taking a bite, I had a stream of syrup running down my chin so you'll definitely love it if you have a huge sweet tooth.
