Their treats are SO beyond tasty and their atmosphere is unmatched! We love going there for their frozen treats but their chocolate chip cookies they bake every Thursday are my absolute favorite "bake shop" cookie - hands down!!! We try and go back (we make the 40 minute drive) at least once a week. read more

We went three times in 24 hours while we were visiting family in Arizona. It was so good! The frozen bananas were really yummy - we did potato chip/Nutella and s'mores/salted caramel. If i was just reviewing the bananas- I would have to give it 5 stars but as a business who opened in the middle of a pandemic I was hoping that they would have been on the fore front of making sure they had enhanced measures in place. Social distancing was not being enforced nor encouraged at all. When we got there there was 3 groups of people sitting right outside the door without masks as well as another large group also sitting- not even eating not wearing masks as well. as a small location you would think that they would do more to encourage people to leave the space as there are not even tables for people to sit in. but you cant expect several young girls to try and police a bunch of mesa moms. The business itself was very clean but the employees opted to Just wear face shields instead of a mask and the shield. The shield is meant to be a secondary form of protection overall not the primary. which should be noted to the girl chewing gum on the line it basically directs any droplets into the food. I look forward to stop by again and update my review if they update their policies or simply in 2021 read more

Saw this place on Instagram and it reminded me of growing up in California when we'd go to Grandpa's Old Fashioned Ice Cream at the mall I also took my kids their as they grew up. I was so excited to see that Balboa's has the same concept so we took a drive from the far West Valley just to check it out and it did not disappoint! The ice cream bars and frozen banana were just as I remembered and they offered much more as far as toppings. They brought my childhood memories into the future. We'll definitely keep Balboa's on our list of must haves for weekend drives. Service was impeccable and super friendly which makes just about everything even better in my book! I really like this place. First off, owners and employees are super friendly! We have been on 2 occasions now and tried bot the dipped ice cream bars and the bananas. Average product and service (it's a banana after all) however deeply disappointed that there was no requirement for customers to wear masks or practice social distancing. No sign on the entrance for masks etc. Are they living in a bubble? This is wilful negligence from the management of the establishment. I won't be going back there until we're past the pandemic. The staff also don't have enough PPE on - just face shields which is NOT enough. Shocked that this is still going on in the midst of a pandemic and national crisis. read more

My boyfriend and I went here and let me tell you it was so delicious! I got the vanilla chocolate dipped ice cream bar with the s'mores topping, almonds, hazelnut spread and marshmallow spread on it and oh my goodness! It was so amazing! My boyfriend got the frozen banana covered in chocolate and toasted coconut and it was delicious as well! I forgot to ask for the girls name but she was so helpful with her recommendations. Oh wow! This was so delicious! The chocolate that they use to dip so quality! The toppings are simple but a nice selection and they have some good combinations options if you just can't choose. So happy we found this place.... saw it on TikTok!! Lol. The girl at was very friendly, she explained everything and was super patient while my kiddo made his decision. The price was very good for the portion size. We got a couple 1/2 bananas and there version of a rice crispy treat, I can't remember the name. The banana were the perfect size and so good, lots of toppings to choose from. I got the s'mores, so good! You can also get an ice cream bar dipped with the topping s too. They did have a couple different baked goods to choose from. The rice crispy had everything in it chips, pretzels, chocolate chips, and Nutella. It was so good and giant. I was excited to try this place as Central / East Mesa has little options when it comes to dessert shops. I enjoyed the decor and aesthetics of the joint but the lack of knowledge by the staff of their offerings was disappointing. I asked the young girl what ingredients their chocolate dip contained since the menu stated gluten and dairy free and she said she didn't know. I explained to her that this info is important to people who have allergies and or dietary needs and she just gave me a blank stare. She offered to contact the owner which was nice and she then obtained the info. Straight semi sweet chocolate is what I was told it contained after the phone call. I think that is pretty straight forward and not hard to remember so the fact that neither of the young ladies behind the counter knew the information is mind boggling !! I was over the situation by then and was no longer interested in trying anything so I purchased a jabberwaky (s/p) to go. This treat was VERY disappointing; stale and hard as a rock. Bummer because it is one less place I have for dessert shops in my area :( :( read more
