There was a time in my life when I frequented Teri House quite often, and here I was in the neighborhood ready to eat for nostalgia's sake. The menu has pretty generous offerings of all sorts of Japanese fare. Any craving you might have can definitely be satiated here. I ordered the chicken katsu curry ($13.07). The chicken katsu was lightly battered, keeping the chicken nice and moist. It sat on top of a bed of rice - the kind that reminds me of sushi rice. They keep the curry separate to prevent the katsu from getting soggy which seems logical, but this isn't always the case. The katsu curry was giving what it needed to give and I was here for it. My friend also ordered the 3 item combo plate ($16.78): chicken teriyaki, California roll, and shrimp tempura (+$1). The plates come with rice, pan fried noodles, salad and miso soup. Granted everything fits neatly into a styrofoam box, but still - so much variety for what you pay. Everything in the combo box was excellent. Each single item was high qual. No complaints whatsoever. If you're looking for a quick and easy lunch, make Bamboo Teri House your stop. read more

A local fave! Easy plaza parking. Casual dining . Order at the counter first before taking your seat. Customer service was appropriate. We ordered the chicken curry, chicken katsu curry (came with side salad) and the happy hour price for the California roll, spicy tuna roll. Curry is yummy! Katsu had great texture. To get into the good, (don't know names so forgive me) There was a short (for me I'm 6'1) Asian girl. She was really fun, was engaging, and very sweet. I've came in with my mom once, and my mother and sister the other time. The problem? Well the 3rd time we came in there were two Hispanic looking women. They seemed to be friends as they were talking about something when we walked in, they kinda kept talking while we stood in-front of them so we sat ourselves (keep in mind we're the only ones here. It's like 5pm) on weds 22. Anyway we're sitting for a good minute or two. No service no mention. So we just get up and leave through the same front door we walked in. They're still talking to each other. So lowkey they're the reason for the 2 loss of stars cuz the place is lowkey a damn 5. But those two kinda soured the mood and I don't think we'll be back for a while. read more

Came in for a 3rd time and I must say they are very consistent. I ordered a classic chicken teriyaki bowl every time and it was ALWAYS delicious, the chicken is very tender not dry at all very moist but you still get a hint of that Char taste from the grill. The teriyaki sauce they use you can tell they make in house super savory and not to sweet, and last but not least the rice VERY VERY VERY GOOD rice it's not dry at all very moist and fluffy as it should be, not to mention [[HIGHLIGHT]]the restaurant is very nice and clean and give you that old school feeling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I eat teriyaki a lot and this is definitely at the top of the list right now. First and last time! I will never go back to this establishment. I have been passing up this place for over a decade. I decided to go today (11-1-2023) around 430pmsh. Not a good idea. This place left a bad taste in my mouth. First impressions are everything to me. I walked in, no greeting. The cashier just looked at us while talking to her other co workers. She looked irritated liked she just just loved her job lol. 8 mins went by, with nobody in line, She (Nathalie.V) finally took our order. Since she was occupied with some phone orders and socializing at the same time with other servers, which I guess is understandable for the wait time we experienced?? Hmmm..Smh After our order was placed. Waited 15 minutes for our food, which was delivered to our table. No utensils were provided. Walked to the front. I was put on hold, so another server was walking around. I asked her for utensils and she just ignored me. I asked again and finally got acknowledged! she rolled her eyes, then finally handed my utensils. That server in description (Chunky Short Latina) is rude, she is the one barking orders in this establishment. Speaking loudly. She needs to learn common courtesy and simple etiquette. We finished our food, which was just ok, since the attitude of that particular server just ruined my entire experience, the food i was eating no longer gave me enjoyment to indulge in the flavor this establishment had to offer. There was one nice server, which this one star is well deserved. She was kind enough to say, can I take your plates and give you anything else. Very nice. I believe her name was Gasel or Gresal. ?? But she was nice. The short Chunky latina can learn a thing or two from her since she demonstrates by example on how good customer service should be performed. Smh The parking is alittle sketchy since you have a few homeless people roaming around. Traffic can be congested, pending the time of day you arrive such as rush hour. The establishment itself is a little runned down and can use some updating to attract more customers. Overall, my experience was not good and I would not recommend this place due to the rude behavior this one particular server exhibited. A hard pass for me. If you grew up in Long Beach, then you've already been to Teri House, and you know you love it. (Yup, they've been shining since 1985). If you're in town or passing through, then of course I'm gonna say, what are you waiting for? Go during happy hour, and try everything. If you wanna fill up and feel good: go for the 2 item combo: chicken teriyaki, mixed tempura (the shrimp is perfectly cooked every time), steamed rice, a fresh green salad with edamame. And, I'll have a pint of Sapporo on draft, thank you very much. My tween and teen grew out of the very hearty kids meal: chicken teriyaki/katsu, 2 California rolls, noodles, rice, sweet potato fries (or substitute for 1 sweet potato tempura), Teddy Graham crackers, Jello, and a toy candy of their choice (they bring the candy basket after they finish their meal). This is the best kids meal in town! (No crappy fast food chain items) It's real food, because children deserve that. There's something for everyone. Quality time with my 13 year old can sometimes look like bonding over delicious food (this is a kid who made from scratch "sweet potato burgers"). She says, if she could, she would drink the matcha iced tea with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the morning every day in the same way adults drink coffee. She cracks me up. read more
