I honestly had no intention in ever coming here, but I'm glad I was able to try it.. because I'm now addicted lol! This place was recommended to me and so I tried their chocolate banana smoothie with boba. I was soooo pleasantly surprised. It's not often that you find a boba spot that will use real fruit in their smoothies and I'm so glad I found this place. There are lots of options and popular drinks but I will stan the chocolate banana smoothie (just cause it's one of my favorite flavor combinations) I sometimes ask for my drink to be sealed but the worker is honest in telling me I would loose a big portion of the drink (they usually have a dome cap for this drink). I was so happy and excited to find out that Bambu opened up down the street from me!! Now I don't have to drive that far to get my Che dessert fix! I ordered the #10 which is the Bambu Favorite, #4 Summer Delight and one Strawberry Smoothie. The drink was really delicious even though it took about 20 minutes or so to come out. I didn't mind waiting because I knew how busy they were and the lady at the register told me it would be about 15 minutes. Also, I noticed that the drinks weren't as sweet as the location on Stockton Blvd. I LOVE my drinks on the sweeter side, hopefully this location starts to do that as well. The line to order was out the door! They were calling out the order numbers for the drinks that were ready and there were a couple people not paying attention or left to go elsewhere while waiting. Elk Grove is full of boba shops and cafes but this place in particular has a mixture of both and I was surprised that they even had Filipino halo halo with a Vietnamese twist to it. Last Saturday we hosted a small birthday boba tea par-tea for our dance team. The service was excellent. We called in advance and they said a group of 12-20 was no problem. Ok so anyone who lives in Sac will know that June, July, and August is when Mother Nature starts eating some ghost pepper chilies and let's loose her extremely hot weather farts on the land. This particular month has been a scorcher until I found the one drink to rule them all. I was stumbling on the sidewalk, weaving in and out of traffic, trying to find reprieve from the 108 degree heatwave. My mouth was dry, my sweat was crystallized from the baking sun, and my skin was getting burned by the second. In fact, I think I was suffering from major heat stroke. I was stumbling and bumbling and finally collapsed in this mini strip mall. I was awoken by an angelic saint, held up to my feet, and pulled into this store to cool off. This Good Samaritan introduced herself as Q, the heart of Bambu in Elk Grove. I asked her what is Bambu? Is it the plants that cute pandas in China eat? She laughed and said no, Bambu is the hottest spot in Elk Grove that specializes in traditional Vietnamese drinks such as coffees, bobas, and something called Che. She noticed I was near death from the heat and that she had the perfect drink to quench my thirst. She proceeded to go to the back of the store, pulled a bunch of ingredients furiously mixing concoctions, and ultimately presenting me with a cup filled to the brim with purple liquid. I was hesitant to try, but the voice in my head assured me that it was safe and at this point nothing else could go wrong. I took one sip, closed my eyes, and saw the answer of the universe. I screamed Hallelujah and started chugging this magical liquid. I regained my strength immediately and ordered another. I felt I could do anything in this world, even cure cancer. Q said the new drink was called a Dragonfruit Refresher. All she asks is that I spread the word about the drink. I'm here and alive today thanks to Q and this Dragonfruit refresher. I first had Bambu when I lived in San Jose years ago, but had only visited a Bambu location once prior to this location opening. Since this location opened so close to home, I decided to give Bambu another couple of chances. At this location, I tried the "Fruit Addict" (#6) and the Jackfruit Smoothie on separate occasions. I had forgotten that Che isn't really for me; it just has too much junk/stuff in it for me and I've always found the jelly to be kind of gross, but again, that's just my opinion. The Jackfruit Smoothie had the very SLIGHTEST hint of jackfruit...maybe they aren't making the drinks according to the franchise specifications? (I can't imagine they can continue to sell those smoothies if they don't taste much like the fruit you want in it.) Whatever the case, it was like drinking water with a hint of flavor. I had no idea this place opened, so I had to do a double take while driving down Elk Grove Blvd. Sure enough, it was the Bambu I knew and loved from San Jose, so I decided to bust a u and check it out. The interior was much like your typical boba type of establishment, nothing too exciting here. Cashier was friendly, I asked when they opened and he said two weeks ago - that explains why I never noticed. I ordered a #4 and #10, they took a bit of time to come out, definitely not as fast as San Jose, but they tasted great, especially on a hot afternoon. I came 15 mins before closing and there were 3 other people ordering. It's great that they don't start closing 10-15 min early like many other boba/desert places. The only negative I can think of is the speed of the drinks coming out, but I'm sure that will get better with time and experience. I'm giving this place a 5/5. read more

Overall the drinks here and jellies they use are tasty, but the service is definitely not up to standards. Not only are the workers extremely slow with taking and making orders, some of the workers are rude and not attentive to details when taking orders. However, I love bambu and will keep coming here to get my usual number 10 (summer delight) since this is the best che you can get in this area. This Elk Grove location seems clean, and a quick glance at the menu...prices jumped by quite a bit, but what else havent increased in this day and age? Anyways, I proceeded with ordering #15 Bambu Halo Halo. It wasnt cheap at $9.50 but it was more like a dessert than a drink, so that helped justify the price a bit. The taro ice cream on top was my favorite part of the drink. The rest of the drink was decent and filling (w/beans and jelly etc. ). So excited that bambu is finally here in Elk Grove! No longer need to make the trek to south sacramento, but also will be dangerous on the diet because it's irresistibly delicious. Not your average boba shop, they have authentic Vietnamese desserts called Che. A must try, fresh fruits (coconut) being my favorite and coconut juice or coconut milk. So refreshing! We got the #1, #10 and #11 which are the house favorites for my husband, daughter, and myself. The drinks were delicious and held up to the standards. I don't understand the other reviews saying it is bland. Maybe the drink of choice was different from ours, but it was definitely good. They also have pandan waffles coming soon! They are one of the busiest drink shops in Elk Grove since opening! Word is slowly spreading. I went yesterday and there was a line to the door. I didn't mind waiting though.
