Taste (texture, flavor(bland/spicy/sweet)) * The bananas are served on a plastic spoon stick. This is especially useful because on the last couple of bites there's a 98% chance that the banana will fall off the stick. So you can use the spoon to scoop the last bites. Atmosphere * It is located within Space 24 Twenty, which is an event space owned by Urban Outfitters. So the furnishings and setting are very nice and urban. Plenty of wooden chairs and tables. Great healthy-ish dessert option for those of us that are health-conscious/trying to reach fitness goals. I ordered the frozen banana with vegan chocolate and nuts. Overall thought the chocolate was much too thick and the nuts too salty, which made this healthy-ish dessert less healthy and appealing for me. Also I couldn't make sense of the spoon stuck to the end of the banana - was it supposed to be used as a stick or as a utensil to eat the banana? At this point, Bananarchy can do no wrong. Their flavor combos are creative and delicious. The weekly banana is always new and is updated constantly on their instagram page. I love the Gob if you're going big before going home. Otherwise, the Texas two-step and hippy dippy are two of my favorites. You can also make your own with lots of options to choose from and plenty of room on a banana. They even have vegan or gluten-free toppings available. You choose a dipping (vanolla, chocolate, or caramel) and the you pick your toppings! I went with a fan favorite and chose the cookie crumble which contained chocolate chip cookie and oreo crumbs. Added toffee with my free topping for checking in through Yelp. Total came out to $4.75 for a full banana. They also serve half bananas which is a good size too. Do you remember watching arrested development and hearing about the Frozen Banana Stand stories? I always thought "whats the appeal of that? its just a whacky AD thing". Then came Trader Joes with their chocolate covered frozen banana slices, and I was like...ok...I can MAYBE see how this is a "thing". When the Kabob cart next door was too spicy for my kiddos (and me quite honestly), I turned to this neighbor for some relief...with zero expectation. Um...YUM. This review is for Bananarchy's catering services at my wedding on 4/16/16. We had a casual, cocktail-style reception. Mostly high-top tables, no assigned seating, with food and dessert services running throughout the party. We wanted a dessert option at our wedding that was NOT cake, Austin-y, delicious, easy to serve, and offered options for all of our guests with dietary restrictions. We also needed something that fit our budget. We looked at a few different options, but most just were not a good value and some had negative reviews that didn't sit well with us. I've always loved Bananarchy but my then-fiance had never tried them and was skeptical. His experience with frozen bananas was that they were often too frozen to eat, made a mess, and just weren't very interesting. He changed his mind when he tried one at Banarachy - they are the perfect consistency, the dippings and toppings are quality, they are prepared well, and the service is excellent. Not only was he cool with having Bananarchy at our wedding, we made an attempt to get a banana every time they had a an odd opening during their off-season. I want one right now actually. Laura and Kelsey at Bananarchy were so easy to work with. They were flexible, friendly and responsive. We paid them in full upfront, and when we had a reduction in guests, they were happy to make up the different with extra toppings. We were worried that service might take too long for our 150 guests since it can take a few minutes to get a banana normally at their food truck, but they assured us that would not be the case at our event and they were right. Service moved fast! Also, this is a GREAT value for a made-to-order dessert option. The price is right. Many of our guests had the same experience my now-husband had. They went in with low expectations and came away big fans. No one was disappointed that there wasn't cake, and many appreciated something different. Our lactose-sensitive friends were happy. Our health-conscious friends felt a little easier. Some people went crazy with their bananas, some went simple. We made the right choice. I'll also note that our catering service was Veracruz All Natural. We felt like the combination of made-to-order Veracruz tacos and Bananarchy frozen bananas were a perfect marriage. read more

Everyone was going bananas about Bananarchy so I decided to stop monkeying around and actually try it for myself. Okay so, parking was not easy. It almost convinced me not to stay but god bless the person that was leaving when I was about to give up. The atmosphere is so nice here and so many cute dogs! Listen, this is my favorite dessert ever. I buy and/or make chocolate covered bananas all the time. I am amazed this place exists and was so excited to try it out. I think the price is spot on for convenience and a lot of the toppings don't cost extra to add. Plus you don't have to worry about tax, just hand over a $5. Very easy. Only complaint is that I wish they came on longer popsicle sticks instead of a plastic spoon and I wish you could cut it with a knife or something. Biting down with my teeth is super cold so I tried to bite with back teeth, and I definitely got it all over my face. Eh -- maybe I went too late but I was very unimpressed with the bananas and the taste. It looked great being photographed but my three friends and I had a hard time actually finishing the banana and all the toppings. I think there is an expectation that the banana would be soft and creamy (like Ice cream) but it's more hard like a Popsicle and combined with the texture of some of the toppings, it becomes kind of difficult to eat and chew on. I think the place was very cute and the names were all unique and funny. I just wish it tasted better. read more

Great concept, especially for a self-professed health nut like myself. Who wouldn't want a frozen banana dipped in chocolate with coconut shavings on top??!? (Which was exactly what I ordered heh.) Execution, however, was poor. Or maybe I was just expecting something different. My friend and I waited a long time for our orders (which by the way, was not the problem, as service was excellent,) and upon finally receiving them, we realized why: Each banana had been dipped into vanilla/chocolate syrup at least five times, and the layer of coating was so thick, it was a struggle just to fit the whole thing into our mouths! Now I'm not sure if that's just how they do it in Texas, but for my California taste buds, it was just wayyyyyy too sweet. I honestly couldn't take more than a few bites before wanting to gag. :(( (Also sensing a lot of potential that's what she said jokes in this review but ah well LOL.) Anyways, if you still want to come here, I would highly suggest getting the vanilla dipping instead (the one my friend got,) as it was slightly less sweet and more palatable than the chocolate one. I went to Bananarchy multiple times during ACL weekend 2 and am now a HUGE fan. Both times I had the chocolate and heath bar flavor and am super excited to try the build your own and other flavors at the actual food truck. I was worried that the banana would be too hard/frozen and I would have to wait for it to thaw before eating, but it was the perfect not-too-frozen consistency.
