I've been taking my dog here for a couple years now. The care my dog receives is excellent! They've been managing his conditions throughly. I never knew much about Banfield initially. but when my dog started needing care, i looked into what they offered and it was well worth signing up. They offer 3 plans: active care, active care plus, and special care. I like how you can stay on a plan for 12 months then choose to downgrade if needed. Regarding my dogs health: he has a heart murmur and requires routine yearly check ups with a cardiac specialist. The echo gram runs about $500-$600. He also needs teeth extractions. The first surgery everything went smooth! They take extra caution and care if something isn't right. I would receive a call notification before the Dr proceeds with anything unless given my consent. The care plan they have given my dog has been effective. He's on a cardiac diet with medications taken daily and there has been no change with his condition. Which I am truly grateful about. This specific clinic, everyone I encountered has been friendly and helpful! I'll continue to seek care and treatment here for managing my dogs health. read more

You know, my Roxy has been a patient with Banfield since i adopted her in 2016. I found this location after I did some research for nearby locations. To be honest, this is by far one of the best locations for Banfield pet hospitals. The staff have always been nice, professional, and helpful. For some reasons, their earliest appointment dates are always very much in the definition of "earliest". The other Banfield locations are always 1-2 weeks out, or several days away. I wouldn't mind the drive from Bonney Lake to get my Roxy here for any out-of-the-norm health check-up, beside the emergency service, of course. Thank you, Banfield in Des Moines. I really, really like this location. After having a pretty bad experience at the federal way one, I was hesitant to even bring my dogs to this company in general. I thought I'd try Des Moines before I completely quit. I haven't regretted the decision ! They're really kind, clean office, show lots of care to my GSD puppy Sylvana and are really helpful. They even let me bring her in to take a look at her leg after she may have hurt it- without an appointment. I really appreciated it! Staff is really knowledge, personable and friendly every time I come in. I will continue to bring my dogs here. I believe Dr. M has been working with her mostly and I always have great encounters with her! read more

I am just done with this clinic. I made an appointment for my cat to have his passed due vaccines done, have his eye looked at and his ears. I received a voicemail from the vet but the connection was poor so I couldn't hear anything. I tried calling several times but apparently they have horrible connection when it is windy (not sure how you are going to business like this since you won't let the owners in the clinic rooms). So I started to drive to the clinic, because I was worried that my cat was done and needed to be picked up. When I finally could hear the vet she explained that she didn't really know what the cat was being seen for and that they didn't get much information from my husband when he was was dropped off. I then explained everything that he needed to be checked for. The vet asked me what vaccines and I literally read off his Banfield chart of past due vaccines. The vet then upsold me on a FeLV vaccine which requires blood work. The vet sped through the call and barely let me get a word in. The vet said my cat should be done by 11am but to call them if I hadn't heard from them. I tried to tell her that I rather them email me, but she cut me off. By 11:25 I called and was told that he had been ready but no attempt was made to contact me. If you are having phone issues then be proactive as a business and find a work around. You do not put this responsibility on the customer. The nurse then explained that they couldn't do the vaccines because he was too fussy with the blood work. SO! Now I get to spend another $60 for a visit cost for them to finally get the vaccines done after I give him calming medication which we also had to pay for. Mind you, I have taken my cat to the Coal Creek Banfield location and never had these issues. Lastly, I spoke with my husband and he said he told the front desk exactly what they needed to do he even filled out the questionnaire which specified everything that needed to be checked and accomplished. So now you have two very pissed off cat parents. I'm very sad that this location is so difficult to work with and that what is asked is never completed in one visit. I doubt I will get a response let alone my money back for the visit since what I asked to be completed was not completed. Also, do not tell me it was impossible to get his blood for the vaccines since the vet in Coal Creek and Lewiston, Idaho can. UPDATE: I called the Coal Creek location and explained what had happened. I was then asked why the vet couldn't have done the other vaccines that don't need blood work. GREAT Question!!! We didn't even come for that vaccine!!!!!! read more

This place is a scam to stretch out test on your pet that u love. I came here cause my dog got diarrhea and not eating. She has been healthy for the last 10 years. My vet was busy for a week so I brought her here cause i can get her in next day. I spent over 1600d on my dog for test and x-ray for 2 visits . They don't have the results of my test after a week and my dog passed away. All they did was giving my dog 2 wks of antibiotics and she passed away 3 days after the 2 wks of antibiotics. I keeps on asking about result of x-ray and fluid test from her lung and they keep saying its pending. I needed to go to other vet and they never released it. Don't come here if your dog need medical attention. read more

I just generally do not write reviews but my sister and I decided to come here for our 7 month old pup, a comprehensive exam along with an emphasis on looking at his sneezing. Booking the appointment was easy as I did it online for a comprehensive exam along with a side note to also look at some periodic sneeze attacks our pup was having. However as the day of the appointment came, we arrived 15 minutes early to check in. We called, and the receiving end was rude as we were just calling to confirm we were there for our appointment. Waited another 20 minutes until we could go inside to get checked in, which is fine because of covid regulations. As we were getting check in and being asked the standard questions, what's the pets name, what's the appointment for, and so on. I emphasized sneezing THREE times and my sister also mentioned our pups sneezing to the second lady we had talked to, and we both went into further details about the periodic sneeze attacks, since it had been an on going issue for about a week and a half. The ladies seemed to dismiss the sneezing and literally was only focused on our pups comprehensive exam and scheduling his future neutering even though we had one, continuously mentioned about his sneezing as a issue we were coming in for too and two, said we were not going to neuter him until he was 1 year old. We ended up leaving our pup at this location for a whopping 6 hours to come back to him only getting a comprehensive exam done and a prescribed medication that was unnecessary. Overall. I was very disappointed with the service and the appointment, since it didn't seem like anyone was really listening to either my sister or me when we were mentioning about our pups sneezing issue. I understand we came in for a comprehensive exam, so that's what you get, but we also left him there for 6 hours, so I don't see how you could not have had a chance to check out his sneezing too. read more

This Banfield location is the best. I drive down from Kirkland because the customer service is awesome and they're quick. Today's example: I brought my pup, Bailey Roo, in for her shots and also asked them to take a look at her ears since she had been shaking her head a lot lately. The vet called me maybe 7 minutes later saying they were all done. This clinic runs smoothly and even when things come up, their staff is consistently friendly and kind. It's a lot easier to trust my dog to staff that is so customer-service oriented. read more

My dog is SICK.. SICK SICK SICK. We got a second opinion and was told it's best to put him down do to the severity of his condition this place kept dragging it out. We asked at the second apt if it was best to let him rest and was told to wait it off until the next apt. My 10 year old dog is suffering and they just throw medications at him to take until the next apt. He isn't eating or drinking he keeps losing weight. Now he's having seizures and we called to bring him in earlier that day for his apt and said "we cannot help him any more take him else where" they can't help him?! MY DOG IS DYING. So disappointed you guys should be here to help these animals not drag their pain just to make profit off of people. DONT EVER TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. read more

Yesterday was my first time coming to this Banfield and I loved my experience here, I will be coming here for future appointments. The staff are very friendly, patient, and kind. They aren't too pushy when it comes to medications and exams, they are willing to work around my budget. They were very gentle towards my dog and made sure he felt comfortable. The place itself is very nice, clean, and quiet. It's not crowded at all and it's much closer to my house than the one in Tukwila. In the lobby there is an area for kids to play and they also have a coffee machine! I recommend coming to this Banfield, this one in particular is a great location. read more

Possibly the worse experience I've ever had in a vet office. I came in for my dog because she wouldn't eat. After her vitals were checked by this young ver and she was given subcutaneous fluid injection, the vet assistant came in to the room and started her business talk. She outlined the cost of the treatment with or without the paw plan. Her point is it will save me money if I sign up for the paw plan. This young vet came in again and told me that my dog has a fever of unknown origin and her blood wouldn't clot. She ordered labs for her and told me that my dog needed prednisone base on what they saw in their clinic. I protested the meds but told me it could be fatal (death) if the dog is not treated. Two days later, the labs came out and she retracted that my dog has Thrombosis. It's too late now and my dog was already given prednisone- this medication is steroid base btw. My big concern with this doctor is she's very aggressive in prescribing medications. My dog was given Tramadol for back pain. clavamox and doxicycline. The line was drawn when it made me realize she doesn't really what she's doing. The labs that she made a decision way ahead of the results cost me $100 and that medication she retracted cost about $45. I was suppose to meet her March 9 for my dogs vaccine but she changed her schedule. I used to be happy with Banfield. I'm hoping this will be the last worse experience I'll ever had with them. read more

This clinic may be okay as long as your pet is healthy. I recently experienced an emergency with my 15 year old Schnauzer. He had been a patient with this clinic, so it wasn't a random visit. My pet was experiencing seizure like symptoms after clinic hours, earlier this week. I tried to get him seen by emergency clinics in, Auburn, Federal Way, and Tacoma, and no one could see him. I called his family vet at Banfield the next morning to get him seen by anyone, only to be told they couldn't fit him in, and was given recommendations for other clinics. Are you kidding me!! My dog is unresponsive and you can't fit him in!! Not to mention the front end staff frequently don't answer the phone. If you're that busy, you should hire more staff. My Schauzer passed away peacefully at Summit vet in Tacoma a day later. I I would not recommend Banfield Hospital to anyone. read more

NICE BUT NOT ALWAYS HONEST OR HELPFUL. My dog's wound was bleeding and they told me she needed to get a surgery ASAP so they sent me to a 24/7 pet hospital. I asked them several times if they could cover the wound so she didnt bleed in my car and they told me that they "couldn't" but instead they gave me some pads and a towel for the car (which wasnt that helpful). I get to the hospital and they told me that it wasn't neccesarily an "emergency" surgery. AND they were able to put a stretchy underwear thing with cotton pads on the wound to stop the bleeding. Banfield seriously disappointed me. read more

I have been taking my pets to Banfield for over 15 years. I have NEVER had a bad experience until today. The Capitol Hill location is awesome but this location at 27019 Pacific Hwy S has diminished the company's name for me and my family. With everything going on across the nation their inflexibility and overall uncaring attitude towards my sick dog is unforgivable. I would never let this location come anywhere near at any of my pets. I'm so disappointed Banfield. I expected better. read more

Really nice staff and they give medical advice over the phone. Even though we have their wellness plan and pet insurance, it gets pretty pricey with the medications but I'm not sure it can be helped. They are always conscientious of your budget though, and very kind to my pets. I am always expected to be in the room during any exams so there's no "taking the dog into the back room" and hearing yelps like at other places. Very high quality staff and service. read more

If I could give this place more then 5 stars I would. I was going to the Newcastle location (which is also amazing), but this place had a sooner opening for a dental cleaning so I booked an appointment for my dachshund Riley. When I called to verify something I spoke with the front desk receptionist Megan (who has the best customer service ever). She stated that they would want me to come in a day earlier so the vet could meet Riley and have an exam so they could see what's going on/meet us. I then met with the Vet Molly, Vet tech Theresa, and Vet tech named Dolly. There were all so amazing, they were so caring and gentle with Riley who can be an aggressive wiener dog. Dolly in particular took such great care of Riley while he was there and I've never seen him so calm at the vwish I would have came here sooner! I love this location, me and my pets will be going here forever. read more

I love Banfield Pet Hospital. All 3 of my animals have been going to their clinics since they came under my care (at least 5 years). They are all under wellness plans (including dental) and they receive the best care. I have heard horror stories about Banfield but I haven't personally experienced anything negative. Thing to know: Banfield is NOT an emergency pet hospital. If your pet is severely injured, they don't have the equipment to help you. Go to the emergency vet. Other than that, they are super flexible and will get you in if they can. They have helped me with references for my aggressive/anxious dog and walking me through the choice to put him on fluoxetine to get him over his anxiety hump (sometimes rescues are hard). Today my tiny dog started coughing/gagging up slimy foam, he was shivering and lethargic. I couldn't get in to my normal location so they called around for me and found a clinic with an opening. The new clinic (the Des Moines location) took care of my baby boy (everyone loves him so it wasn't THAT surprising when everyone started doting on him). Thanks to his wellness plan there is no charge for the visit today just for the meds and procedure he needed. I am so grateful for the staff at the Des Moines location for being so kind and loving, for helping me feel better about what was going on with him and helping him feel better. I've been a client for nearly a year now. My Lhaso Apso was immediately diagnosed with Diabetes. I've been regular with annual vaccinations, spent alot of $$ on eye testing, my first visit@ Banfield, they were honest, put an IV in to save us $,and sent us to critical care @the Blue Pearl. We weren't advised to start a wellness plan, since his prognosis wasnt good. He made it, his strict diet of RX food WD, has made a drastic improvement! Then there's Megan! She is such a caring, helpful, polite, understanding employee, she goes far beyond her job description, and I wish I would've come here years ago, my other dogs would probably still be alive and well. We have had 4 cats, all have died and came home to us for resting. EXCEPT Missy, We took our sick cat in for her last day, (Kidney failure she lost mobility in her hind legs). They examined her, and decided she was to be humanly euthanized. They Checked the box for everything, it was all "right". The proper amount of medicine, CHECKED. Her body temperature, CHECKED. We were asked if we wanted a private cremation and have her come back, YES we said. so we paid extra for this service. They took our card charged our bank and everything was good CHECKED, Missy died in our arms. WELL, 2 weeks later I call and ask about Missy's remains, OH, OH... they didn't check that box!! "Heather" the manager, said she checked everything but forgot to check the "PRIVATE CREAMATION" box. Seams Heather the "manager " decided that our Missy would get a standard cremation with all the other animals and then scattered out on a mountain.... AND not come home.. Missy had a family, she had a family who loved and cared for her.. She calls me says SORRY read more
