The quantity was really good for $14 small. But I feel like it was kind of basic. Just like meh to me.

One of our favorite stops in California or Hawaii! We love the different combos and have yet to have a bad Banzai bowl. The workers are typically very helpful and friendly and make for a great overall experience! We love the chill vibes of the place!

I was looking for a smoothie bowl to pick up and enjoy at the beach and was surprised to find a Banzai Bowls, thanks to my Yelp search! They must be new due to the lack of reviews. I was able to order ahead online which was super easy and they have photos of everything on the menu! There are so many yummy options and you can customize some things too (maybe even more so if you order in person). I finally decided on the Makaha bowl, which you can choose apple or guava juice to blend in (I picked guava). It's blended with pitaya, banana, and chia seeds, and then topped with mango, raspberry, granola, kiwi, and honey. It was a pretty filling portion for $14 after tax. It seems like a high price but there aren't a ton of smoothie bowl options where I live so I would pay more to get a fresh one on the beach. The mango was so sweet and refreshing, and the raspberry helped counterbalance with its tartness. There are some tables outside if you wanna enjoy it right away but it's really not far from Pacific Beach or Mission Beach so I would recommend taking it over there to enjoy the scenery!

Banzai Bowls has made its way into the SD market with this new store in the Grand Central plaza of PB. The other locations are in OC and Hawaii. The suite used to house another chain juice and smoothie bar so we shall see if this brand can sustain more success. They open at 8 am daily and close most evenings at 8 pm (7 pm on Sunday). No inside seating was available, however six small foldable wooden tables with chairs were placed on the front sidewalk. Eight acai bowls, seven pitaya bowls, three acai smoothies, three pitaya smoothies, and four fruit smoothies made up the chalkboard menu on the wall to the right of the service counter. Small and large serving sizes were offered for each item with prices ranging between $7.50 and $10 for smoothies and $11.50 to $15.25 for bowls. I ordered a small acai bowl during my first visit and a small pitaya bowl the second time. The Maui Sunrise was the acai bowl of choice. The blend was made up of coconut milk, pineapple juice, acai, bananas, strawberries, and mango. The topping consisted of granola, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, coconut shreds, and honey. I didn't taste any mango in the blend, but honestly the mix made it difficult to distinguish the individual components. The granola and honey did stand out in the topping though. For the pitaya bowl, my selection was the Makaha with guava (versus apple) juice. Pitaya, bananas, and chia seeds were in the blend with granola, mango raspberries, kiwi, and honey in the topping. Since there were fewer ingredients, I felt this bowl was more enjoyable. The three fruits in the topping were prominent. The visibility of the suite within the plaza remains a concern as a couple of former businesses also failed before the most recent juice/smoothie bar. The quality of the products I tried at Banzai Bowls was worth a solid four star rating.

The bowl is amazing and exceptional customer service by Peyton. So nice and friendly and awesome and cool and funny despite being the only one working. Deserves the biggest raise and promotion !!!!

Hands down the best acai bowls in San Diego! Been a fan of Banzai bowls for years including the Huntington Beach & Oahu location.

Stumbled on this location while walking to the beach from our parking spot. Was excited to see there is now one in SD as the closest was OC. Bummer is they charged $1.50 to substitute strawberries for bananas without telling us and they have never charged for that same substitution at other locations.

Came back because it was so good the first time! The gentleman who helped me last time helped me this time as well. Off the wall was very good and he added peanut butter to it. Let me tell you- that peanut butter is the best iv ever had!

I love this place so much! It's the best açaí bowl you can get in SD!! They actually blend the smoothie and make it fresh unlike other spots where it is from a carton or premade. The service is always amazing and the workers are very sweet/helpful. Definitely order online if you want to save some time. The shop itself is very clean and there is always a lot of seating outside.

    EL CAPITAN

I love this place, and it's my go to post surf snack shop. Today was especially the vibe though. The two people working were jammin' to some up beat Christmas music, were cheerful and looked like they really enjoyed working there. My drink, the El Capitan is the best and it's always consistent regardless who's working. It reminded me of my first job, such a pleasant memory. Until next time!

So stoked to have a banzai bowl in San Diego! When we lived in Orange County we used to go all the time and now to have one post surf in San Diego is epic. They are so delicious and the staff is awesome, and super friendly. They have a nice patio you can sit on and enjoy your bowls outside as well. Definitely come and check them out! The banzai bowl with hemp milk is where it's at

I love the acai bowls here absolutely fantastic. However, the service today on 8/17 at 2:20 was horrible. There's one girl working, I'm not sure her name but as soon as her coworker Josh arrived, she started yelling. He told her to stop yelling, that it looks bad to customers and she said and I quote "then tell them to stop fucking stressing me out". She was flinging things around and raising her voice multiple times while I waited. She glared at me and the other customers, and rolled her eyes at what I ordered when her and Josh pulled the printed slips. Super unprofessional, won't be coming back.

    ..

Paid $14 just for them to forget strawberries on my bowl lol it comes with like 3 toppings now sure how they forgot that. but good size portion.

I placed an order ahead of time and showed up about 25 minutes later thinking it would be ready. When I checked in, a younger employee told me it would be another 10 minutes. Annoying, but okay. The parking situation around here is already a nightmare, so I really wasn't thrilled about having to stand around waiting even longer. Well, those 10 minutes turned into 25. During that time, I watched multiple people walk in, place orders after I had already checked in, and receive their food before me. The crazy part? It wasn't even busy. There was no line out the door, no rush, no obvious reason for such a ridiculous delay. After waiting long enough, I finally went up to an older gentleman working there (I'm assuming the owner) and politely explained that I had been waiting a very long time and was confused why people ordering after me were getting their food first. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging the mistake, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was inconveniencing him for asking about an order that should have been ready ages ago. Then, after another 10 minutes, my bowls were finally ready. In total, I waited about 35 minutes after checking in for pickup. To top it all off, the older gentleman practically shoved the bowls at me without so much as a "sorry for the wait." Look, delays happen. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. If you're running behind, just be honest about it. Don't tell someone 10 minutes when it's really going to be over half an hour. The açaí is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for being treated like an annoyance. There are plenty of other places in San Diego serving great bowls without the attitude.

Street parking is available, but depending on the day and time, finding a spot can be an adventure of its own. Give yourself some extra time, especially on the weekends. Do public transportation if you can. Seating: Limited seating both indoor and outdoor. Room for maybe 20 people. Vibes: Welcome to PB. What's cool is that you're a few steps away from Crystal Pier and the beach, then you got your PB things from local beach goers to some fun random events. The spot itself is nothing too flashy. It has your nice pop music playing with some photos of their drinks and their accolades. Good for a grab and go but if you need a break from the heat, this is a chill (no pun intended). FOOD/DRINKS Funky Monkey Mocha (Recommend) This was good. What's not to love - banana, peanut butter, and chocolate. Fich mocha with a nice fruity sweetness of banana and that nutty taste from the peanuts. A fun and desert like drink that gives you a good caffeine kick. CUSTOMER SERVICE Great! Down-to-earth and welcoming. The menu was overwhelming but I had helpful service. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. Good coffee, reasonable prices, and a fun selection that gives this little PB coffee shop its identity. Nothing flashy just simple drinks with growing flavors to reflect the diversity of people that come and visit. Their maybe many coffee shops in this are but it had a good charm. Much love to the Kozoglu family and the Pacific Bean team for holding it down! TIPS: - Definitely explore the signature mocha menu--there are A LOT of choices.

Another Fri-yay, another stop at Better Buzz... Now that we've embarked upon the month of…read moreSeptember, we're in my BDay month... and yes, I celebrate ALL month! I'm that girl. But I digress. Apparently, Better Buzz believes in birthdays too because they sent me my free drink reward today. So of course, I had to stop by before work and pick up a, you guessed it... Pumpkin Spice Latte. There were a few cars on the drive-thru ahead of me, but the line moved quickly. I also noticed that Better Buzz now has egg bites, so I also ordered the Veggie egg bites to give them a try along with my iced PSL. When I got to the window, my drink was ready, the employee at the window was cheerful, and I paid $8.33 for my egg bites (which was a little steep), and then I was on my way to work. The egg bites came with a little spicy yogurt sauce which was a nice tough. Better Buzz says they make the egg bites, "fresh in house, every day using cage free eggs." The egg bites did indeed seem very fresh, and I enjoyed dipping them in the sauce to add a bit more depth of flavor to them. The PSL is as PSLs are... mildly aromatic, sweet, and heavily flavored with cinnamon and pumpkin notes. It was an enjoyable way to start the morning, although I will go back to my basic and boring Americanos tomorrow because I tend to shy away from sugar in my drinks to be able to enjoy a sweet treat at some point in the day. I guess this was my sweet treat for today! I think Better Buzz doesn't get the respect it deserves from locals and self-described coffee people. Sure, many of the drinks here are sweet and a bit extra, but BB also has solid espresso drinks without all of the the syrups and added stuff. They may not offer pretentious pour over coffee from some faraway place, but they are consistent, kind, and fun. Better Buzz is a great place to go for a coffee or tea drink, a refresher type drink, and or light bites. I still really appreciate their generous rewards program, and honestly, I'll be a fan for a long time to come. Peace.

BETTER BUZZ @ PACIFIC BEACH WEST…read more Parking can be a little tricky here. They do have paid parking right out front, but honestly, if you just turn down one of the side streets, there's plenty of free neighborhood parking. That's what I did, and I found a spot almost instantly with no time limit, which was super convenient. I visited around noon on a Thursday, and it was definitely pretty busy. I've never been to this Better Buzz location before, and I was honestly surprised by how many Better Buzz locations there are around Pacific Beach! This one is located right next to Moonshine Beach and has both indoor and outdoor seating. We ended up sitting inside, but all the windows were open, so it still had a really nice, airy atmosphere. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with nonfat milk, light ice, and added a scoop of protein powder. I've been trying to increase my protein intake lately, so I loved that they offered protein as an add-in. They also have a great selection of pastries, bakery items, smoothies, and their signature Best Drink Ever options. The staff were super friendly, and I placed my order online since the line was pretty long. It made the whole process quick and easy. As for the drink, I honestly wasn't the biggest fan. It was definitely something different, but I don't think I'd order it again. The café also didn't have as many outlets as I was hoping for if you're planning to work there. There were quite a few bugs and flies inside, and the tables were a little sticky when we first sat down. Overall, though, it still had a great vibe, and I would definitely come back to try something else on the menu.
