I wanted an acai bowl and found this spot still open on Labor Day. There was only one person working, but he was super friendly and doing the most. I got the shark's cove which was pretty much a traditional acai bowl, and chose apple juice to be blended in. Since the large was only $2 more and almost double the amount I chose to get that, and it was GIGANTIC. Literally a whole tub of acai lol. While it was good, the acai wasn't the best I've had or that unique in terms of flavor (I am obsessed with Oakberry and must compare to them). The granola was delicious though and there was a nice amount of fresh fruit on top too, despite them forgetting my blueberries. It was a nice treat to take to the beach!

One of our favorite stops in California or Hawaii! We love the different combos and have yet to have a bad Banzai bowl. The workers are typically very helpful and friendly and make for a great overall experience! We love the chill vibes of the place!

The bowl is amazing and exceptional customer service by Peyton. So nice and friendly and awesome and cool and funny despite being the only one working. Deserves the biggest raise and promotion !!!!

I was looking for a smoothie bowl to pick up and enjoy at the beach and was surprised to find a Banzai Bowls, thanks to my Yelp search! They must be new due to the lack of reviews. I was able to order ahead online which was super easy and they have photos of everything on the menu! There are so many yummy options and you can customize some things too (maybe even more so if you order in person). I finally decided on the Makaha bowl, which you can choose apple or guava juice to blend in (I picked guava). It's blended with pitaya, banana, and chia seeds, and then topped with mango, raspberry, granola, kiwi, and honey. It was a pretty filling portion for $14 after tax. It seems like a high price but there aren't a ton of smoothie bowl options where I live so I would pay more to get a fresh one on the beach. The mango was so sweet and refreshing, and the raspberry helped counterbalance with its tartness. There are some tables outside if you wanna enjoy it right away but it's really not far from Pacific Beach or Mission Beach so I would recommend taking it over there to enjoy the scenery!

Banzai Bowls has made its way into the SD market with this new store in the Grand Central plaza of PB. The other locations are in OC and Hawaii. The suite used to house another chain juice and smoothie bar so we shall see if this brand can sustain more success. They open at 8 am daily and close most evenings at 8 pm (7 pm on Sunday). No inside seating was available, however six small foldable wooden tables with chairs were placed on the front sidewalk. Eight acai bowls, seven pitaya bowls, three acai smoothies, three pitaya smoothies, and four fruit smoothies made up the chalkboard menu on the wall to the right of the service counter. Small and large serving sizes were offered for each item with prices ranging between $7.50 and $10 for smoothies and $11.50 to $15.25 for bowls. I ordered a small acai bowl during my first visit and a small pitaya bowl the second time. The Maui Sunrise was the acai bowl of choice. The blend was made up of coconut milk, pineapple juice, acai, bananas, strawberries, and mango. The topping consisted of granola, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, coconut shreds, and honey. I didn't taste any mango in the blend, but honestly the mix made it difficult to distinguish the individual components. The granola and honey did stand out in the topping though. For the pitaya bowl, my selection was the Makaha with guava (versus apple) juice. Pitaya, bananas, and chia seeds were in the blend with granola, mango raspberries, kiwi, and honey in the topping. Since there were fewer ingredients, I felt this bowl was more enjoyable. The three fruits in the topping were prominent. The visibility of the suite within the plaza remains a concern as a couple of former businesses also failed before the most recent juice/smoothie bar. The quality of the products I tried at Banzai Bowls was worth a solid four star rating.

Stumbled on this location while walking to the beach from our parking spot. Was excited to see there is now one in SD as the closest was OC. Bummer is they charged $1.50 to substitute strawberries for bananas without telling us and they have never charged for that same substitution at other locations.

Came back because it was so good the first time! The gentleman who helped me last time helped me this time as well. Off the wall was very good and he added peanut butter to it. Let me tell you- that peanut butter is the best iv ever had!

I love this place so much! It's the best açaí bowl you can get in SD!! They actually blend the smoothie and make it fresh unlike other spots where it is from a carton or premade. The service is always amazing and the workers are very sweet/helpful. Definitely order online if you want to save some time. The shop itself is very clean and there is always a lot of seating outside.

    EL CAPITAN

I love this place, and it's my go to post surf snack shop. Today was especially the vibe though. The two people working were jammin' to some up beat Christmas music, were cheerful and looked like they really enjoyed working there. My drink, the El Capitan is the best and it's always consistent regardless who's working. It reminded me of my first job, such a pleasant memory. Until next time!

So stoked to have a banzai bowl in San Diego! When we lived in Orange County we used to go all the time and now to have one post surf in San Diego is epic. They are so delicious and the staff is awesome, and super friendly. They have a nice patio you can sit on and enjoy your bowls outside as well. Definitely come and check them out! The banzai bowl with hemp milk is where it's at

THE OG BOWL with Peanut Butter

Hands down the best acai bowls in San Diego! Been a fan of Banzai bowls for years including the Huntington Beach & Oahu location.

I love the acai bowls here absolutely fantastic. However, the service today on 8/17 at 2:20 was horrible. There's one girl working, I'm not sure her name but as soon as her coworker Josh arrived, she started yelling. He told her to stop yelling, that it looks bad to customers and she said and I quote "then tell them to stop fucking stressing me out". She was flinging things around and raising her voice multiple times while I waited. She glared at me and the other customers, and rolled her eyes at what I ordered when her and Josh pulled the printed slips. Super unprofessional, won't be coming back.

    ..

Paid $14 just for them to forget strawberries on my bowl lol it comes with like 3 toppings now sure how they forgot that. but good size portion.

I placed an order ahead of time and showed up about 25 minutes later thinking it would be ready. When I checked in, a younger employee told me it would be another 10 minutes. Annoying, but okay. The parking situation around here is already a nightmare, so I really wasn't thrilled about having to stand around waiting even longer. Well, those 10 minutes turned into 25. During that time, I watched multiple people walk in, place orders after I had already checked in, and receive their food before me. The crazy part? It wasn't even busy. There was no line out the door, no rush, no obvious reason for such a ridiculous delay. After waiting long enough, I finally went up to an older gentleman working there (I'm assuming the owner) and politely explained that I had been waiting a very long time and was confused why people ordering after me were getting their food first. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging the mistake, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was inconveniencing him for asking about an order that should have been ready ages ago. Then, after another 10 minutes, my bowls were finally ready. In total, I waited about 35 minutes after checking in for pickup. To top it all off, the older gentleman practically shoved the bowls at me without so much as a "sorry for the wait." Look, delays happen. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. If you're running behind, just be honest about it. Don't tell someone 10 minutes when it's really going to be over half an hour. The açaí is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for being treated like an annoyance. There are plenty of other places in San Diego serving great bowls without the attitude.

Totally fine for adults, but if you are bringing kids, just know you might be explaining some lyrics on the drive home. Overall, fun spot, good food, strong throwback energy. I would definitely come back.

I also happened to have enough points for a free regular drink in my account, so that was certainly a bonus. The bright lights and cute signage of the shop beckoned to me, and I knew that I was at the right place. There was no line at the drive-thru when I arrived at about 7:40am. I ordered a Banana Pudding Best Drink Ever (with two shots) and a Chili Crunch Wrap. The cashier was quite a good salesperson, as she inquired, "Would you like to add a chocolate chip cookie to your order?" I had to laugh a little at that one, because as much as I would have loved to say, "Yes, I would like a chocolate chip cookie at 7:40 in the morning." It would be a very bad idea for my metabolism. So anyway. I drove around and my drink and wrap were ready and she requested that I pay $13 something dollars. I asked if that was the correct amount, and she said, that "it looks like tax on the wrap." I asked her to check again, and she realized that I was being charged for the shots which should have been free. So she adjusted the price to $10 something which was the price of the wrap and tax. She seemed a little huffy, but oh well. I added a tip and headed off to work... and I arrived on time! The Banana Best Drink is certainly tasty. It had the right amount of sweetness, and the banana and espresso complement each other well. I enjoyed this drink today, but due to the calorie content and sugar in it, I'd only have one of these as a once-in-a-while treat. My wrap was good as usual. I would appreciate more chili crunch flavor in it, but overall, it was a tasty, and not too unhealthy way to start the morning. I think Better Buzz is a great coffee spot option in our area, and their rewards program is excellent. Thanks, Better Buzz!
