During that time, I watched multiple people walk in, place orders after I had already checked in, and receive their food before me. The crazy part? It wasn't even busy. There was no line out the door, no rush, no obvious reason for such a ridiculous delay. After waiting long enough, I finally went up to an older gentleman working there (I'm assuming the owner) and politely explained that I had been waiting a very long time and was confused why people ordering after me were getting their food first. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging the mistake, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was inconveniencing him for asking about an order that should have been ready ages ago. Then, after another 10 minutes, my bowls were finally ready. In total, I waited about 35 minutes after checking in for pickup. To top it all off, the older gentleman practically shoved the bowls at me without so much as a "sorry for the wait." Look, delays happen. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. If you're running behind, just be honest about it. Don't tell someone 10 minutes when it's really going to be over half an hour. The açaí is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for being treated like an annoyance. There are plenty of other places in San Diego serving great bowls without the attitude.

I also noticed that Better Buzz now has egg bites, so I also ordered the Veggie egg bites to give them a try along with my iced PSL. When I got to the window, my drink was ready, the employee at the window was cheerful, and I paid $8.33 for my egg bites (which was a little steep), and then I was on my way to work. The egg bites came with a little spicy yogurt sauce which was a nice tough. Better Buzz says they make the egg bites, "fresh in house, every day using cage free eggs." The egg bites did indeed seem very fresh, and I enjoyed dipping them in the sauce to add a bit more depth of flavor to them. The PSL is as PSLs are... mildly aromatic, sweet, and heavily flavored with cinnamon and pumpkin notes. It was an enjoyable way to start the morning, although I will go back to my basic and boring Americanos tomorrow because I tend to shy away from sugar in my drinks to be able to enjoy a sweet treat at some point in the day. I guess this was my sweet treat for today! I think Better Buzz doesn't get the respect it deserves from locals and self-described coffee people. I've been trying to increase my protein intake lately, so I loved that they offered protein as an add-in. The staff were super friendly, and I placed my order online since the line was pretty long. It made the whole process quick and easy. As for the drink, I honestly wasn't the biggest fan.
