We are heading to Miami in May for a 50th Bday party? It sounds like this is the perfect place to be. Do they do any bday surprise with sparklers - I saw a lot of sparklers in the photos. Also is getting separate checks an issue?

It took us some time to get our server to bring the check. It's a 2-hour dining experience that you pay $110/person plus the 20% service charge but we ended up getting shuffled out about an hour and a half into it. I'm assuming she was the manager who was directing other staff to "get these people out of here" to our table and the surrounding tables next to us. Which the tables next to us sat after us, so they were there for even less time. So aside from the older woman, who I assume was a manager, everything else was great!

We took the steak and our cinnamon buns to go since we had been there long enough. The final kicker is they have an automatic 20% service charge in order to ensure the staff is paid enough. Seems like a business problem to me. Service was not up to that high of a standard. If you go during Miami Spice I hope they have figured out how to sequence the courses and get them to the table correctly while still hot.

However, when the bill arrived, we were informed that the manager had already left and the discount could no longer be honored. Instead, we were given only the $4 happy hour discount, despite being promised otherwise. For our entrées, we ordered the brisket sandwich and the half chicken. Neither was worth ordering. The chicken lacked the crispy texture it was advertised to have, and the brisket was bland and without flavor. The sandwich was also supposed to come with truffle fries, but instead we were served cold, plain fries. After mentioning it, the solution was to bring us a side of truffle oil and Parmesan cheese and ask us to mix it ourselves. The service was equally disappointing. We asked our server twice for drink refills, but she never brought them. We eventually had to flag down another server just to get our beverages refilled. Overall, this was a frustrating dining experience from start to finish. Between the poor-quality food, unfulfilled promises regarding the bill, and inattentive service, this restaurant fell well below the standard I would expect from a Miami establishment. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves one. I went here with a group of about 12 this past weekend or dinner and drinks, and although we had heard it was "upscale dinning and service" I can assure you, it is not. Cons: The waiter came, without a wine list, a big no no in my book of dining at expensive restaurants. He badgered us for entree orders before asking if we'd like to order drinks or appetizers. When I told him I needed a minute he rolled his eyes, scoffed at me and stood there. That is when I asked him to get me the wine menu so I could look over the dinner options. He brought the wine menu back and hurried off, not returning for 10 minutes. We all sat there dumbfounded at his lack of service and asked our bus boy to grab him. He came back over apologizing, but being a knockoff euro pretty boy (he tried to talk with an Italian accent but we are Italian and can spot a fake easily) all he was interested in was some girls at another table. We ignored it and ordered our food and drinks. At our table we ordered many different dishes: Fried calamari, the soft mozzarella, Filet Mignon, Black truffle risotto, veal, roasted chicken, pasta, and the crab. My boyfriend and I knew portions would be small so we ordered an appetizer and two entrees. We were correct on portion size (although the veal is a whole shank and much larger then we expected) but we were shocked that the quality of food was so-so. Our appetizer, the mozzarella, was delicious but our entrees were burned (veal) or not properly cooked (risotto). Others in our group found similarities in their entree dishes. Now, when our waiter came with the check he screwed SO many things up and tried to scam us by adding extra dishes and drinks that no one ordered. He increased the prices on some dishes, and when we confronted us he YELLED at us. I asked him not to yell at me and his response was "I am not yelling, you are wrong. I work here everyday for five years, I know my job. You are all drinking so much you don't know what you ordered" Now, my boyfriend and in a span of a three hour dinner had water, one cocktail and for dessert we split a glass of lemoncello. Two of the couples at our table don't drink. Two other couples had ONE glass of wine each. No one was drunk. I told this waiter that I didn't have to take his attitude and asked for the manager. The manager came over, we explained the situation and he said he would take care of it but nothing happened. The wait staff here overall is rude, they just stand around to look good and don't know how to actually wait on people. This is what happens when you include a tip in the bill, they know it's coming no matter how they act. The management here is VERY poor for the so called quality of this restaurant. I will never return and have already told many of my friends in Miami to stay away from this place. The prices may be high but I would have had no problem paying them if the food matched the so called quality and I was treated like a paying customer. Pros: Drinks are excellent and worth the price. They know what they are doing at the bar compared to the kitchen and management. If you LIVE in Miami and you want to go someplace to be seen then this is the place to go, maybe for a DRINK but I wouldn't advise eating here or talking to the wait staff. read more

If I had the choice of NEGATIVE one star... That's what this place would get.... Never in my life have I gotten up from a restaurant before ordering from being so mortified from the treatment of a restaurant staff..... Until now! For starters.... The name of the restaurant is French... Online, the cuisine is quoted as "French" and the menu on their site is totally different. When you get the restaurant ... The whole menu is ASIAN ??!!!??? so confused. Oh, and the SNOBBY wanna be models, I mean hostesses are french as well... So strange. I made a reservation for my friends and I a day and 1/2 before...with the request to be seated outside... We arrived to a "door girl" who asked for our name and then told us to enter.... Through a tacky hallway full of "celeb" pictures .... Then the FRENCH hostesses greeted us and when we reminded them we wanted the outside they said no it's for large parties only & they were packed. I stepped outside to take a look only to see that not only were there tables set for parties of 2,4 plus.... But IT WAS EMPTY!!!!!!! We decided to let it go and just sit inside . The table she brought us over to was literally a table for 2 and basically sitting in on someone's date at "the next table" .... Meanwhile the restaurant was not even full. We refused the table. We came here on a Friday night and were greeted outside by a with a clip board and a velvet rope. This place is very unassuming from the street as there are no indications that there is a restaurant behind the doors guarded by the man with the clipboard. After confirming our reservation we were led through a hallway full of great photographs of people partying from years back. We stopped at another hosting stand and then were led outback to an open terrace area where we were sat against the back wall. The terrace is beautifully decorated and surrounded by buildings on all 4 sides - which makes it impossible to have any kind of a breeze. It was hot and humid - August in South Beach - and without any air moving my wife and I were wiping away sweat throughout our meal. The music was very loud and seemed to get louder at 10 pm. It got so loud in fact that we decided to skip dessert because we could no longer speak across the table. The crowd is mostly early 20's and dressed dressed nicely. The food is very good. Some of the best we had on South Beach. My wife had the Risotto and I had the 16 oz Ribeye. Both were amazing. The drinks were ok at best. Very watered down and expensive. Cocktails are in the $20 range. Our meal with 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, and 2 cocktails each was almost $400. Im not sure what these 20 somethings who seem to fill a good portion of the restaurant do for a living but we were the only people sitting in our area who didn't have multiple bottles on the table. Fancy high class place with zero attitude and impeccable customer service. my friend texted me to see if i wanted to check out Baoli for some free drinks since her friend gave her a coupon for four free drinks that were to expire tomorrow and she was not going to use. I said sure, and we went down to check it out. I read online and heard elsewhere that it was a fancy bar/restaurant so I was worried about getting in, especially with my less than glamorous attire. I wore dark blue jeans, a blak polo shirt and new asics sneakers, my friend wore black dress shirt and black dress pants. We walked ina round 8pm tonight ( friday) and showed the hostesses the pass for 4 free drinks, one of the hostesses lead us to the bar. Very professional and friendly and didn't turn their nose up at us for having free passes ( knowing we were not going to be spending money there) At the bar our bartender was very friendly and professional. Can't remember the names of what we got but the fruity one on the right side of the menu that had Or-G in it was PHENOMENAL. The atmosphere was high class, everyone was dressed up pretty much but me. Although it was a fancy place I didnt feel any prissy attitude from anyone. Would def return and maybe dress up next time. Im not sure on the food prices or wine but the cocktails were $16 ish. We were looking for a great place to take our friends visiting. Decided on Baoli since it's Mediterranean restaurant, boy were we wrong! This is just Asian Infused. We had no reservations but they had plenty of room and very accommodating. Just weirded they have a bouncer at the entrance of the place, we thought we were at the wrong place. Unnecessary! No parking or valet available, we parked on 21st and Collins' meters. Food review: - Free table treat are elegant crackers with guacamole. Good! Note: we asked for 2 as we were 4pp, & were charged $2.50 for the 2nd. After a heavy check at the end, we complained and they removed the charge. It was the moral, not the charge. - Calamari was good. - Mango tango sushi, delicious. - Temptation roll was good. - Hot sake was good. - Skirt steak was good. - Salmon was good. - Sea bass was good. Cocktails: This place is expensive. We paid $25 for Absolute Vodka with club soda before tax. Service: Great, but they were a little to much on us. We wanted to drink, eat and socialize, and interrupted constantly by the waiter or the waiter's help removing dishes with food still on the plate or drink not finished. Very pushy to upsale. Based on what we ordered it was $125 per person. The drinks were more expensive than the food. 4 stars: great table behind the DJ, overall service good, and food was good. Since when in Miami Beach are we requiring women to wear high heels to go to dinner?! I haven't heard for such a rule, one and two if a woman is dressed very elegant with a beautiful dress, great body how in the world the doorman is to ask her to wear high heels?...What is this fashion show, exhibition or meat market? I mean this is quite ridiculous?! Don't you think? I was wearing nice stylish sandals not flip flops or something, nor I was dressed with beach dress! We have been a few times in this restaurant, the menu is average super expensive for the value and ambiance, and now this crap high heels to go to dinner there..... Why even bother?! So if you are a CEO, royalty or celebrity still need to wear high heels to eat. The doormen in this place are either idiots or the owners of the restaurant are total jerks..... I've been a guest of Baoli since my early twenties and I am very fond of this place, always a fun atmosphere. I met some great people there in the past, and the sushi was to die for. While I was nervous about them closing for renovations, I was also excited to see what is to come. It was a long time coming, but let me tell you, I am blown away! Starting from the door, I was greeted by a very polite staff. Manuel was such a gentleman to my girlfriends and I, took care of our table and the reservation. Ambiance and new design of the space is giving elevated tropical vibes, reflecting the perfect Miami moment. Music was so nice to dance and vibe to and the cocktails were so delicious. I had a few so it would take a long time to describe them all, but trust me, they are delicious, you can't pick a wrong one. :) Sushi is even better now, which will have me coming back really soon. i feel in love with this venue, the feel was so rich with tons going on at once, but not too much! my friends and i sat at the bar, the place had an out door section, booths inside, some vip sections nicely placed, and open area for dancing. the dj booth is in a cool spot sort of in the (back) middle over seeing the club/restaurant/ lol i am not doing the best job describing..... any who their are Go Go dancers performing and the lights are just amassing! the food was great; some things we orders were the friend calamari, Ahi tuna tartar, yuuummmm,,,, and few things like Miso soup oh and the desert platter to top it. listen this night was fun fun fun dinner, drinks ,and it felt like we were at a live show my friends and i want EVERY ONE to check this one out definitly ,-) of the stops so far its my favorite. reasons to love Miami. Tropical Oasis with Excellent Service and Food I recently had the pleasure of dining at this gorgeous tropical oasis with some friends. Everyone was dressed to the nines and the atmosphere was very posh. We were seated outside, but when it started to rain, our server, Angela, quickly and professionally handled the situation. She made sure we were taken care of, even though the restaurant was full. Angela took our experience to the level we were expecting. For food, I highly recommend the mushroom risotto with extra truffle shavings, which are added tableside for a truly decadent experience. If you're into mezcal, I also recommend The Coral cocktail, which is delicious and refreshing. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. I recently dined at Vita by Baoli Restaurant in Miami Beach, FL and I have to say that I was highly impressed! Upon walking into the restaurant, the things I noticed were the dimmed lights, beautiful decor, and the canopy of trees. My girl friends and I were seated right away and our waiter attended to us immediately. Although the prices seemed a bit steep at first, the quality and taste of the food is worth EVERY penny. We all shared the Ahi Tuna Tartar as an appetizer, which was amazing. For my entre, I chose the Seafood Risotto - one of the BEST Risottos I have had. The seafood was fresh and the rice was cooked perfectly! The perfect background music allowed us to sit and chat all night. I went to Baoli Miami last night. Our waitress, Laura V. was the best. She prepared a great tasting menu with the absolute best cuisine selection including wagu steak, fish, sushi, and pork bellies. The drinks were amazing and even my local friends from Maimi were very impressed with the food, the staff, the service and the pricing. Good balance of price - to quality - to service with an amazing atmosphere, great DJ and a good looking (dressed up) crowd of patrons. Definately ask for Laura V. as your waitress and Tim at the bar! My family and I visited Baoli last night and had a wonderful evening. Everything from the food to customer service was exceptional. To begin, we ordered filet mignon, branzino, chimichurri, and beef dumplings. Each one was cooked perfectly and filled with flavor. For dessert, we enjoyed the chocolate cake and bread pudding. This is probably the best bread pudding I have ever had. With our delicious meal, we had spectacular entertainment. Apart from this, I would like to mention the amazing customer service. I went back to Baoli last weekend, and had a much better experience this time around. It seems like they made some major improvements to the place. The service was great, from the hostess at the front door to our server and the guy who kept our water glasses full. To start we tried the Godzilla roll which tasted fresh and the hamachi sashimi tacos, which were ridiculously good. They were probably my favorite thing I ate all night, although we enjoyed everything. For dinner we did the sea bass and the seafood pasta- both were great. It took a minute or two to find, but once I found Vita I fell in love. The beautiful outdoor garden and illuminated trees set a relaxed, tropical feel to my evening dinner. A mix of songs from 80's to more modern beats played through the night and set a romantic venue for my dinner with my husband. I ordered crab ravioli, cooked al dente and with just the right amount of sage broth. My husband ordered the Wild Scottish Salmon, and would recommend it to everyone.
