3.5/5 Firstly I think they've packed their tables too closely for COVID and in general the restaurant is pretty packed. Some more spacing would be nice. I noticed some tables had hard copy menus while other tables scanned a digital menu. We got drinks, the sausage hummus bowl, boiled octopus, tahdig, and the roasted chicken. The food was pretty good. We all agreed that the octopus was the best. It was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. I liked the duck for the rice dish, it was really tender. I thought the chicken was a little dry and under-seasoned. The drinks were good but a little pricey for the amount. My biggest quip is that we waited incredibly long for our food. We were the last round of reservations so it wasn't even during the peak hour. However, we waited awhile to order, waited awhile for our appetizers. Then we waited over an hour between appetizers and the main entrees. They did not come and apologize at any point that it was taking long but that our food was coming. I had dinner here with a couple of friends. I arrived early so I waited for them at the bar. The place was packed, but I still managed a seat at the bar and enjoyed a very well prepared vodka martini. We sat and ordered a few dishes to share. Two apps an one entree. As apps we had the lamb meatballs and the octopus. The entree was the stuffed baby eggplant. Everything was really really good. The meatballs were to die for, the octopus was devine and the eggplant was really flavorfull. Service was good, and the ambiance is very modern - good date for a 20-something but I don't know I would bring my old lady here. What an amazing place! I've never had such good pita bread! It was right out of the oven, hot, with a soft body and crunchy top, brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with herbs. They served it with three or four dips, all of which were very fresh and tasty. We had other dishes, too, but I'm still tripping on that extraordinary pita bread. read more

Food and drinks were good albeit on the pricey side. Service was friendly too. The beet hummus and steak skewer were my favorite. The falafel and burrata with squash were both tasty as well. I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could and I have never said this about any other restaurant. This was hands-down the best mediterranean food I have ever had in my life. The chicken was marinated with the perfect blend of spices and was cooked so tender. I have never had better cooked or softer chicken. The portion sizes were huge and there was such a wide variety of options for vegetarians and meat-eaters. My friend was gluten-free so they also especially made crispy potatoes for her since she couldn't have pita! The manager even came out to greet us and gave us blankets since we were chilly sitting outside (although there were outdoor heaters too). I think they rotate their menu because I couldn't find some of the yelp items on their menu. I loved their hummus, pita bread and the lamb rack! They are on the pricy side. A coworker and I came here for lunch on Monday. We made a reservation a few days in advance to get the time we wanted. It was super busy so I recommend making a reservation! They have a good selection of appetizers and lunch dishes. We opted to share the chicken & manchego croquettes and crispy new potatoes to start. Then we split a slow roasted spiced chicken sandwich and the arugula & strawberry salad. All the food was SUPER TASTY. I can't pick a favorite between the croquettes/salad/potatoes. The sandwich did not taste spicy as I was expecting but it was good also. There was more than enough food so we ended up taking some of it home which was great for a snack later. My go-to dinner place to meet up with friends. We happen to all love the food there, the cocktails are great, and it's nice to have a heated outdoor place post-Covid. Some of our favorite dishes are the grilled Spanish octopus with beans, the rack of lamb, and Persian tahdig. They also just added a chocolate ganache with torched meringue that's delicious. Came here for lunch with a girlfriend and we were pleasantly surprised! Even though it's located right near Market st, they did a great job of creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, although somewhat loud. We truly appreciated the covered patio, with tons of umbrellas but also, heating lamps basically at every table, especially since it was an exceptionally breezy and cool day. We ordered the croquettas, hummus and lamb and beef shawarma, all to share. The corquettas and shawarma were amazing but the hummus lacked flavor (i.e., maybe more lemon?) and could have been smoother. Service was also very attentive and friendly. Dinner with a res on a Friday, not too busy and we appreciated our table in a quiet corner. Service was good, people were friendly from the moment we entered, and we had a relaxed fun evening in the low lit romantic atmosphere. We liked the warm flatbread with silky smooth hummus; fattoush salad was delicious-lots of flavors and textures and we paired it with the shrimp skewer in a yummy spicy sauce. Beef dumplings, hummus and octopus starters all way above average. Duck entree over crispy saffron rice- insane. Not a fan of duck tried it many times in a few different states. It's been a few years since ive ordered duck. The starters were so good we ordered the duck after it was recommended ( pressed for six hours insanely tender) so good! It was a very busy evening and my party of 8 grew to 11 and there really was no additional seating. Nevertheless, the Barcha Team stepped up and figured out a creative solution to get my last minute party size increase accommodated . They really went above and beyond and while this may not always be possible. the customer service orientation to find a solution was noteworthy. Being from Dubai and being spoilt with all the Mediterranean/ Levantine food there, be it authentic or fusion, I entered Barcha with no expectations. But in all honesty, this restaurant blew me away and I don't say that for all Levant restaurants here as I'm a "Levant food snob". Barcha's take on Med. food and cocktails with Parisian influences truly inspires me as their combinations and presentation are a 100/10! Everything I tried, was a delight and I've been wanting to go back ever since! Favs: In SF I haven't come across a better Shakshouka than the one I've eaten here (again, I'm very picky about my Shakshouka as I've been spoilt by the best honestly in Dubai). I love their classic hummus, but devoured the Roasted Pepper Hummus with Burrata and Felafel even more (this combo is just something else! Don't know how they came up with it but it's divine!). Also, the Chicken and Manchego Croquettes were soo delish - the fruit jam served on top of it truly elevates it! Apart from these, the Manti, beyti kebabs and felafels are good sides. In the desserts, I absolutely loved the Baklava with apricots and mascarpone (never tried a combo like this before). Among the cocktails, I loved the Gin Basil drink and the smoky whisky cocktail - both had a beautiful Persian twist to it! I just can't wait to go back! Fantastic spot. I came here for lunch and the food quality is excellent. The food is not cheap but worth the extra premium one pays for quality. MUST HAVE: arugula and heirloom chicories salad with lamb meatballs. The greens were amazing - tastes like coming straight from Ferry building farmer's market, with a bit of delicious bitterness from chicory. And the lamb meatballs are pretty tender here but can be less hard on the surface. Ratatouille side - fantastic intense flavors with middle eastern influence. Excellent. SOLID: Turkish Manti / beef dumpling - hearty dish. Love the yogurt that goes with it. Blistered shishito peppers - pretty good. AVOID: chop salad: even though this is one of the recommended dishes, it was so so. The vinegar was a bit too strong. The greens are commonplace. The crunchy flatbread was interesting but didn't particularly go with the greens. I would recommend reserving beforehand for a table to avoid waiting. read more

Barcha was amazing! I ended up choosing this location for a client dinner as it most closely matched my dietary concerns while still having fantastic ambiance. We were seated and quickly ordered the prawns as well as the hummus and turkish manti - keeping the honey's Turkish gammas in mind for the correct way to say manti (he's explained it to me like 15 times, I never get it). Additionally, I ordered the duck kabsa for myself (without the yogurt) and really enjoyed the dish. Another at the table said the yogurt was too much on his, so I was overall very satisfied with my changes since the rice was spot on perfect. Unlike other client dinner's I've hosted, Barcha was quiet and the service was friendly and prompt, with the ambiance upscale without being black tie. It's a great merge of everything you need for a client dinner and I highly recommend the spot. All in all, Barcha was perfect. read more

I have always seen this restaurant when driving into the city and have wanted to try! I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! We sat at the bar and had two bartenders/ waiters who were super friendly and fast in assisting us. I got the Pampa to drink (mezcal and jalapeno) which was so good! To eat with one other person we split 4 plates--we got a Halloumi Cheese and Beet Hummus Bowl which comes with Pita, Ham + Cheese Croquettes, Falafel, and Spicy Beef Dumplings. Must get the Halloumi Cheese Hummus Bowl and Beef Dumplings--super tasty! All dishes were great though. Didn't take pictures but the ambiance inside is pleasant and dark. Came in for a 7PM reservation with a group. Took 20 minutes for our first waters. After ordering apps (& entrees at the same time as our server requested) and cocktails, another 20-30 minutes before anyone got any of our drinks. Longer for apps. I had to leave 9PM and none of our entrees had arrived. The apps were tasty, but what a disappointment otherwise... I was really looking forward to eating here and I'm sad that after 2 hours I didn't get to. I asked the man who I believe is a manager to box mine up and give it to my friend because I had to leave. Wife and I went here for dinner after work one day. We sat outside in their very nice patio area which had plenty of heat lamps to keep things nice and warm despite it being a rainy day. We ordered: - Barcha spreads Super delicious and came with really flavorful flatbread. The muhammara was incredible - Spanish Octopus Loved this dish. Think the octopus may have been frozen as it was a tiny bit fishy tasting, but I still ate every last bit of the dish and then used bread to wipe up the sauce. Will happily order again but FWIW my wife did find it a bit too fishy for her liking. - Crispy Brussel Sprouts So delicious I didn't even care that they were deep fried and therefore not the healthy addition to the meal we had planned - Lamb Kefta Good not great. Would happily order again. There was a mistake and we were given two orders. We figured the server misheard us and figured we'd just eat it and pay for it. But then he let us know it was their mistake and they would not charge us for it. We let them know we were happy to pay for it but they insisted. Great service in general. Went here with my team for a work dinner. Gotta give props to the service team for fitting 14 of us at one table. We ordered a few different mezze to share and I had the Persian tahdig as a main. The falafel was delicious - perfectly crunchy on the outside and well seasoned. The tahdig was absolutely amazing, the rice had a lovely crispy top and the duck was really tender. We shared some red sangria which lacked really flavor and barely had any fruit it in it, I wouldn't recommend it. On the other hand I also had a Yallah which had nice smokiness from the sumac salt rim and great freshness from the cilantro, excellent cocktail. Overall really nice ambiance and good food and the service team did a great job dealing with our large table! read more

It's laughable how horrible our experience was here, to the point where I can only speak to the service and not the food- we didn't think it was worth it to stay to find out what the food was like. Also, I should point out I'm one of those people who doesn't like cilantro/coriander, and according to the chef everything is made with those ingredients so the only thing you can do is order the $45 prime rib without sauce. Hopefully this review will help the other people out there like me! (Note to the restaurant; it is common to be genetically predisposed to not like cilantro/coriander, so maybe don't marinate every meat in cilantro/coriander?) Anyway, we had a 7:30 indoor reservation for three people. It's SF, so it was a cold and windy night, so we preferred sticking with our assigned indoor table rather than freeze outside. Also, I happened to be dealing with a bad asthmatic cough due to allergies, so the wind would've made it worse. We didn't anticipate we would have to wait 30 minutes after our scheduled reservation time to be seated. The restaurant blamed the wait on the people who were sitting at our table who stayed too long, but none of the staff ever gave a hint or asked them to wrap it up (they already paid, but were sitting there a rude amount of time just chatting). The table was right at the entrance where we were asked to wait, so I can confirm this. At the least, we expected the restaurant would attempt to make up for it, and get us a drink order while we waited. Instead, we went to the bar and let the bartender know up front we've been waiting a long time but would tip well. The pours were laughable, especially for the $24 glass of Cabernet, especially after making it clear we would tip well. We tipped well anyway to not seem like assholes, but it wasn't deserved. When we sat down at our table, the server assigned to us told us up front it was her first night so she "wouldn't be able to answer any questions, so please don't ask." I told her up front that I would have a lot of questions about the menu, since I hate cilantro/coriander, so she said she would grab another server. Before she left we ordered hummus and a bottle of wine. When the new server came I told him I would need to know which dishes I could order without cilantro/coriander. He was happy to help, but we had been sitting down for 10 minutes at that point, and still hadn't received our wine or hummus, which you would assume would be quickly delivered since they informed us it's pre-made (we confirmed this when we asked if it could come without cumin). All in all, we weren't sat down until 30 minutes after our reservation time and after ten minutes at the table did not receive drinks or appetizers. We were so frustrated, especially given the fact that I could only order the $45 steak without cilantro/coriander, and the restaurant made no attempts to remedy the wait time. Little do they know, one of the people in our party spends $1,000 at every restaurant he goes to because he makes a lot of money, orders a lot of food, and tips very generously. This restaurant missed a big opportunity- I hope they learn from this like we did. -1 star because we had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation time to be seated -1 star because the staff did nothing to remedy the situation we were put in -1 star for the bad drink pours, even after promising a big tip and tipping the bartender 50% ($56 bill for two cocktails and a glass of wine, with a $20 tip). -1 star because we sat at the table for 10 minutes and still didn't get our wine or hummus, even after an already unacceptable wait for a table we reserved +1 star because the first server was honest about their ability to answer questions and the second server was honest about the amount of dishes with cilantro/coriander and inquired with the chef to figure out a way to provide something without that spice/herb read more

SO CUTE! Perfect date restaurant. A little pricey but not too much. The patio ambiance is even better than inside which is great! The patio is appealing even when it's cold outside. The food is delicious. If you eat with your eyes (or from reading options from the menu) you will have a difficult time deciding so I would say, just go for it, order more than you need, and fully enjoy yourself! I'd suggest making a reservation but the wait time shouldn't be too long, especially if you don't mind sitting at the bar. You'll enjoy yourself no matter where you are seated :) read more

The food was excellent and the service from the staff was delightful as they told us what their favorite dishes are and spent time chatting with us even though they were clearly hustling.  A special shout out to the Tall Man aka the Baklava Man.  I enjoyed sharing two pieces and it was simply heaven.  The best I've ever had.  Not to sweet, loaded with delicious pistachios and that flaky filo made with the best butter I've tasted!  The spicy dumplings, salads and shwarma are delicious. Perfectly balanced flavors. Delicious! I purchased two additional slices to bring back to my parents since I'd raved about it the day before and was certain that most of one slice would be mine since my mother  "doesn't like desert".  My father ate his with gusto exclaiming the entire time "So good!  So Rich!! Delicious!"  I turned to my mother and encouraged to at least "just try one bite" eager to get my hands on the rest.  But it wasn't to be.  She had one bite.  Made herself a cup of tea and ate up the rest.  The entire slice. read more

I came here before an event I was attending and sat at the bar. The location was packed and soon I realized why. Barcha has a killer happy hour from 5-8 with all of their mezze (appetizers) 1/3 to 1/2 off. I ordered the crispy falafel and a Casablanca cocktail both off of the happy hour menu. The drink was divine almost like a rum cooler with a splash of banana liquor. The crispy falafel came out hot and freshly made with delicious labneh sauce on it. I will absolutely go back here if I'm ever near the Salesforce area and the next time it will be for a full meal. read more

Very nice experience in the city. Lots of variety of dishes. I had small plates - Classic hummus, Spanish Octopus, Fattoush - was perfect combination. The Spanish Octopus was very good! Husband had the Halibut, was cooked perfect and had good balance of other flavors. The only item I did not like - I think this was more to do personal taste than the item. Was Turkish Baklava. I prefer Baklava that is more traditional. We enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Looked great place to visit more often. read more
