Sad to hear this place closed. I was probably the best manager there and I was let go in 2021. I cared about cleaning, quality, and customer satisfaction. Too bad the owner was unable to see past my occasional 10-20 minute tardiness. I hope he is able to open up more locations and continue his bareburger legacy. The burgers are just fine. I think this place is way overpriced for what you get. On average you are paying $10-14 for JUST a burger and then the sides (fries, onion rings, etc) run you $4.95-$6.95. The lunch special was a good deal though. $12 = 1 burger from their menu (no changes permitted) + 1 side + 1 drink (nonalcoholic) The damage is not too bad for lunch on the UES! The good = the sides! The onion rings were crunchy nicely breaded not too greasy and good mild onion flavor. Kimchi slaw was good - tasty and spicy but too heavy on the mayo. The lemonade was really good and so was the unsweetened white peach ice tea. The sweet potato fries were not salty enough and they needed to be more firm for my taste. The beef burger with brisket had almost no cheese and the brisket was too fatty. I had to take most of it out of the burger. The brioche was too much bun for the size of the patty. And the bbq type sauce was not my thing. Wouldn't recommend this burger. The bison meat was more flavorful. A bit dry. Also too little cheese (queso fresco). The guacamole was a really good topping though! Might skip the burgers next time and instead try out their happy hour shakes ($3 each) and their $4 happy hour craft beers! read more

I don't know how this place is getting bad reviews. I am the most picky diner ever, and I absolutely love it. I've ordered twice on seamless and it came to me perfect each time. I dined in today and the person checking out explained the whole menu including sauces to me. The food was fantastic - I had the forager with gluten free bun and the sweet potato fries on the side - with special sauce. My food came out quickly, I got my gingerale free of charge with no issue because they forgot to add it, they delivered extra napkins quickly. I really couldn't complain about this place. read more

I work remotely a couple times a week and come here to get out of the apartment and have a burger (and sometimes a beer). The food is usually spot on, especially if you dine in. Anyway, I wanted to mention Yulie. It's not often that you walk into a restaurant and remember the service professional by name and even less often to be able to strike up a good conversation and have someone remember you back (and your order) every time you come in. I thought it was just me at first, but I noticed Yulie treats other customers in the same courteous and warm matter. Having previously worked in the customer service industry what I immediately noticed about Yulie is that she cares about her customers and follows up with them often. She's clearly passionate about customer service. Her social talent and professionalism is refreshing to say the least, especially in this city. I was quite surprised to find out she was not the general manager or at least the store manager. In any case, you'll enjoy the food but if you're lucky enough to get Yulie as your server I'm sure you will be as compelled as I was to leave this review. read more

What I love about this place is all of the options, and I also love their sustainability. They used paper for takeout and biodegradable cups/straws. I have been eating grass-fed beef only lately, so when I don't feel like cooking, I pop on over to Bareburger for a burger in a collard wrap with avocado. I also love their hisbiscus-strawberry unsweetened iced tea. Whether I dine in or carry out, the staff is always super friendly. Do they have the best burger I have ever tasted? We loved our first visit at the Westchester Co. location and we love the menu and options. Milkshakes are a bit pricey for a small serving. Good burgers with more variety and customization available than other places. My favorite burgers include the El Matador and the Fire Quacker. The Supreme is also a good option if you want a more classic burger with the additional flair of added onion rings and fries in your burger itself. You can also build your own burger or substitute the patties in the burgers. If you like beef, but want to be a bit healthier, the bison is leaner while maintaining a similar texture. The elk is even leaner than the bison and you can taste that difference. Their veggie patty options are also delicious and flavorful. Their onion rings are extremely well seasoned and some of the best I've ever had. Their fries are pretty standard, but they come with an array of sauces so you're likely to find one to your tastes. The milkshakes are decadent and you can mix your choice of flavors. My go-to as always is chocolate and raspberry. The service here is also great. Friendly and helpful. read more

I have been eating at this Bare Burger for about three years now. Most recently, I went in for a late lunch and discovered much to my delight that they have a milkshake happy hour special so their standard flavors are just $3. The chocolate shake turned out to be the best I have had. Along with ordering the Blazin' Cattle burger, I also ordered sweet fries and onion rings. I am also a big fan of the spicy, deep-fried pickles that came with the burger. The burger was excellent as theirs tend to be. Bare Burger excels when it comes to burger creativity that does not lose sight of the fact that you are still eating a hamburger. There were a few things that were disappointing about the lunch. The first is petty, but Bare Burger has very small water glasses. Our server was attentive and brought out new bottle of water pretty regularly but it is still annoying to me as someone who drinks a lot of water. The second thing I noted is that the restaurant furnishings are not in good shape. The booths in particular have large holes in the seat and need to be reupholstered. Bare's aesthetic is not one that meshes with this grungy upkeep. One of the booths had a hole the size of two sheets of paper that had been covered with green duct tape. Bottom line: Bare Burger has great food for dine in or eat out. They need to give their space a little TLC. read more

Bareburger has the best vegan burger! The Original Impossible burger is 100% vegan but tastes and bleeds like meat. I usually am picky with veggie burgers and am not a fan of the grainy, rice/bean-based veggie burgers that most burger places serve. However, I couldn't believe that the Original Impossible burger was not meat! It was juicy and tender and just as good as a regular burger. Came here on a Sunday night - before Labor Day and had a really good meal. My turkey burger was ok but the meal highlights were the Brussels sprouts and dessert. The crispy Brussels are delicious and the lemon is a great touch. The cheese is also good but I think I could do without to because the Brussels are just so well done. And the dessert was amazing! I have ordered from Bareburger for years. Used to go all the time to the one on east 73rd before it closed. This one has not worked so well for me and I think I can no longer support it. I tried one more time. The delivery took hour and half. Everything was cold and soggy on arrival. I tried to eat the burger and it just doesn't taste good at all (besides being soggy and cold). Just not flavorful. (The buns are usually good though). Threw it all away. I'm sad because I have always loved their burgers and menu. But too expensive for the hassle. read more

I've ordered from this BareBurger location several times over the past year, and have yet to have a solidly positive experience. They have veggie burgers which are half decent and fries that get the job done, which is what has kept me coming back. Delivery is always exceptionally slow, considering I live a mere 2 blocks away. Typically delivery takes around an hour, but is routinely over the estimated delivery window by 15-20 minutes. This alone wouldn't be a deal breaker if the food were good, but it's pretty mediocre. Burgers are usually dry, topping amounts are offensively small. My burger tonight had 2 tiny pickle slices, and a slice of cold cheese. Fried are typically soggy, when they're crisp they're not bad. I'll never order from this location again. Finally had my last negative experience with this BareBurger location, and this time it had nothing to do with the food. I placed an order through seamless and around 45 minutes later get a text from a friend asking if I ordered BareBurger through her seamless account. I checked to make sure I didn't, and even checked to make sure my credit card had been charged (I didn't and it had). We figured it must be because I once used my phone number on an order we placed months ago. That still seemed weird since the delivery address was clearly listed as mine on the seamless receipt. I called the restaurant to make sure this didn't happen again and was transferred to the manager who proceeded to act like it was a huge hassle that I wanted my food delivered to the correct address. I asked if there was a way for him to delete my phone number from their CRM system, and he refused. Then he proceeded to tell me that I should stop using Seamless. It's clear now that this guy hates seamless orders - even though they charge a delivery fee. Even when I said that my experience made me want to stop ordering from BareBurger the manager didn't care, he just wanted to get off the phone as soon as possible. No worries, I won't call or ever spend money at this place again. I'll get my mediocre burgers elsewhere from now on. read more

Went here with some friends- food was good but the service was not. We literally saw our server come to our table twice, once to take our orders and another to bring our drinks. Didnt check up on us at all. Took forever to get the check because as stated, he didn't come around even though he passed our table several times. Got fed up of waiting for him or anyone else to decide to come to our table, we asked a busboy for our check, promptly paid and left. The food was good but definitely not good enough to make me come back here and suffer through the terrible service again. My advice, go to shake shack or literally just anywhere else. Bareburger has been one of my favorite burger spots from the first time I stepped in the door (and yes, if you read between the lines that indicates I've downed one of their incredible burgers more times than I care to admit). I normally eat at the Murray Hill location on 34th, but I was uptown for a movie with some friends so, what a better place for a pre-movie bite than Bareburger. The uptown location is definitely a quieter ambiance than it's 34th st location, but it was more welcoming for some easy conversation. The decor matches their other locations with the reclaimed wood, recycled ton roof-ceiling and exposed brick walls. The booths are separated nicely with high walls providing ample privacy for your party, if desired. Now onto the food: The fries and onion ring combo to start is our group's go-to, which arrived perfectly fried and with the same spice we'd normally expect on the onion rings. The combo comes with 4 dipping sauces, but the highlight here is the Thai chili mayo (definitely ask for extra). Next up, I decided to venture outside of my normal choices so my friend and I split 2 burgers: the Brisket and the Habenero Express. Both were excellent choices. While the Brisket burger came out a little overcooked, it was still just as great as we'd hoped (yes, it's brisket on your burger... with fried pickle chips). The overall winner tonight was the Habanero Express burger. The tingle of the spicy Habanero was perfect and it may have just its way into #1 on my Bareburger burger choice board. Lastly, the pitchers of Lionshead are $12, cheap for anywhere in NYC. No complaints here. We always receive excellent service when we go to any of the Bareburger locations, and tonight was no exception. We've had this experience at least three times with this particular Bareburger (both in the actual restaurant and via seamless) and it's such a bummer. Usually we've been able to get refunds, staff has been super nice and accommodating, but tonight my ridiculous fiancé just went ham on another raw Bareburger and then took four vodka shots to "disinfect himself." After having some Tater Tots and a drink at the bar across the street, my friend treated me to Bareburger, a place I have never been before. The bear by the side of the entrance was a cute touch. Inside, it looked like a log cabin...if the owner decided to expand on that cabin and make it into a restaurant. There were even faux oil paintings of bears on the walls. My friend and I got there around 5p and it was pretty empty so we were able to score a booth. The host was friendly but our waiter was incredibly awesome! He was very nice, efficient, and was very helpful with suggestions on what to eat. The menu was a little overwhelming to comprehend. There are a lot of choices. They don't just have beef for their burgers. They also have duck, bison, elk, among others. They also have vegetarian and vegan burgers too. Many of their choices are gluten free. I saw that they have duck bacon as an option. Next time, perhaps? I had the Macho Fries. They're sweet potato fries with pepper jack cheese, jalapeño peppers, red onions, and guacamole. I put a little salt and mustard on it. It was really good. Their guacamole tasted so fresh! As did the jalapeños. There was a definite crunch to them. I got plenty of them and they were intoxicating. My friend got the Supreme burger which came with sweet potato fries and onion rings on the burger. Instead, of ordering an extra side, she just removed them from the burger. Smart. But that wasn't the best part of the meal. It was the shakes which, if you go during Happy Hour, are only $3. AWESOME! There are already choices but I made my own: Peanut Butter Vanilla. Oh. My. God.
