So hubs and I were on our yearly anniversary vacation and we thought, 'Hey, we're in the south, let's get some bbq! It's probably delicious down here!'. Yeah, holy crap was this place not good. First of all, let me start by saying it is a food truck, a stationary food truck. Normally food trucks are pretty damn good, so I had pretty high hopes for this one. We stood in line, deciding what we wanted, and then hubs decided to run back to the van to grab waters for everyone and a milk bottle for the littlest little. So I ordered for hubs, myself and the biggest and middle littles. I ordered chicken tenders for the littles and it came with a side bag of chips, bucket of ribs for myself, with a side of potato salad (that didn't come with the ribs), and hubs got beef brisket sandwich and his came with two sides, baked beans and mac and cheese.
So you order at the first window, and pay there, when my total came to pennies shy of $50, I thought something was off, but figured it was right. I hurried over to the table where my kids were sitting, and Mimi and Pa were waiting. I sat down complaining the bill was so high and Pa said, it didn't sound right. I brushed it off since I was hungry and waited to tell hubs until after we ate.
About 3-5 minutes later, my name was called to the second window and I picked up my food. The bucket of ribs was not a bucket, it was a slab of ribs on a plate, and they did NOT look appetizing. The beef brisket sandwich looked okay, and the chicken fingers looked shiny they were so greasy. The sides looked pretty good, except for the baked beans, which looked lighter in color than what I'm used to back in the mitten.
Hubs hadn't returned yet, so I snuck a piece of his brisket and it wasn't bad. Then I began cutting my ribs. They were not good. The seasoning on them was powdery and left a weird taste and feeling in my mouth. Hubs returned and asked how the ribs were, and I said terrible, he looked at the two I mauled and said, 'uh, babe, those aren't cooked all the way through', to which, (I know nothing about how to cook pork thoroughly) I replied 'really? It's fine, I don't feel like going back up there'. Hubs said I could get sick if I ate undercooked pork, so he went up and talked to the guy at the second window. He was very nice in acknowledging the mishap and offered to either cook me more, or prepare something else for me. Since I thought the ribs were pretty gross, I ordered the beef brisket sandwich like hubs, and since there was a price difference, he gave me an extra bowl of beef brisket. While that was super nice to accommodate me and make things right, the replacement wasn't all that tasty either.
So my littles barely touched their shiny chicken, hubs ate his mac and cheese and beef brisket like a champ, but didn't really like the baked beans. We took the chips home, to which no one ended up eating them, and the kids did eat the leftover chicken tenders later, once they 'dried out' a little. Hahahaha.
So, after our meal, I commented on how that 'quickie lunch' cost almost $50.00! Hubs was like what?!!? So we added it up and it was not adding up right. So, after seeing a tiny sign near where you order, make sure you know, (THEY) ADD a 10% gratuity to your bill automatically, so not only did they add that in, there is also a line for a tip on there. So if you're not paying attention, like myself, you get charged for a tip, AND I tipped generously on TOP of that. I feel pretty ripped off, especially for what I got, gross, greasy street food. Skip this place, I wish I would have.
I will say, they have a cool little doggie water station in front, that features this really cool contraption. Lemme explain for y'all...they have two big tin water cooler bins to hold the bottled water and other beverages. There is ice in the bins to keep the items cool. Well, as the ice melts and turns into water, it travels down these little pipes and creates a little dripping fountain of sorts into two doggy bowls, and as one overflows, the water falls into two other doggy bowls and then dogs can come get a refreshing water drink.
