VERDICT/VALUE Based on just breakfast only (haven't tried lunch or dinner yet): the small-to-average portion sizes won't wow you, but they pack a punch and with good service and great views, this hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki may just be the spot to visit when in the area! === 2. FOOD The Breakfast Plate with Steak ($14): features two eggs your way with rice and (6 oz?) steak chopped ready to eat with each forkful. As mentioned, it's not big on size, but it is on taste and on point, cooked as requested! The Omelet ($12): comes with your choice of two toppings and red potato hash with a small piece of pineapple for garnish. Spam and mushrooms fit the bill nicely and again - while the empty spaces on the plate make the plate look larger than it is, the taste was just right! The Pancakes ($8) and French Toast ($9) are good best also, especially with the $3 surcharge for fresh fruit on top. The Dole Whip ($4) and Uncle's Handmade Ice Cream Sandwich ($6 - chocolate or vanilla) are fantastic! The drinks are something else. The coffee ($3) is supposedly Illy Coffee, and it was alright. The iced tea ($3) tasted like sunscreen mixed with hand sanitizer and unsweetened tea. If it weren't for the lineup at the counter, I would have returned it! === 3. SERVICE & ENVIRONMENT It's essentially takeout service and it was friendly on both visits. The atmosphere is fantastic - beachfront seating essentially with a number of tables fitting up to 8 people and often never an issue with getting a table. The key is being on the outskirts and away from the main hubbub of activity in Waikiki which means you have a quieter slice of paradise to enjoy yet be close to the action when you want to be. Wheelchairs and baby strollers fit just fine and work on the paved paths leading to and from the cafe. Parking is a challenge though, with spots on the street and at meters at/around the park being the best bets - very busy and hard to get! read more

Food: fresh fish catch of the day plate (swordfish), buttermilk pancake with fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, bananas), guava smoothie. Everything was delicious. The fish plate came with two scoops of rice with a little furikake on top and salad with sesame vinaigrette. The fish was extremely fresh and cooked perfectly. DD loved the pancakes and the guava smoothie was tasty! Ambiance: ocean front with amazing views and live music. Service: the wait was FOREVER. The line hardly moved and we almost left. It took an hour total. Each customer took 3-10 minutes to order, then the food is made to order. I was sooooo hangry because I was already hungry when we got in line by the time we got our food I could have eaten a shoe. Location: beachfront somewhat near the zoo. Tip: watch out for the pigeons in the trees above taking a poop on you while you wait in line. We dodged a bullet!! And eat a snack if you are hungry because you will be in line a long time even if there are 20 people in front of you. read more

They definitely need to improve service especially cashiers attitude, not greeting customers, not even responding when you say Mahalo. Answers questions very rudely, I really didn't get the point. Did they put her to avoid customers or what? Later I thought maybe she has a bad mood today, my wife also ordered separately and she told me the same thing, this little girl has an attitude towards customers and doesn't know the first letter of customer service. Very bad. Food was okay, except they haven't mentioned 3% surcharge anywhere at the cafe or on the receipts. Also they charged me 12$ for steak addition where on the menu it says $3 for 4oz steak. When I asked why, she said because you asked it separately that's why it will be 12$. But again, I'll post the pictures of menu and my receipt, please find if you can. But these are legal matters, I'll take an action. They have to pay for screwing people! read more

We had the swardfish plate which comes with rice, garden salad, and a garnish if pineapple. The fish was fresh caught that morning and was grilled. It was a very delicious dinner at a great price. It was as good as the more expensive fish dinner we had the night before. There was live Hawaiian music playing that just made the whole experience a great "last day of paradise" memorable! The service was friendly and pretty quick considering they have to cook everything to order. I will be back on our next visit. read more

Part of the sidewalk was closed leading up to it so it was a little confusing getting in. But they have a great set up with open tables in the main area and then smaller tables with umbrellas on the deck area. You grab menus and then order at the window. The menu is small but very good with options. The service is awesome! read more

Ambiance: 5/5 Food:4.5/5 Order is as shown in pictures. Veggie tacos and shrimp plate. Shrimp plate might look expensive but it's worth it. It tastes good. They provide good amount of gravy than other restaurants in the area. It is hard not to recommend this. Tacos were good as well. They sell it with chips n salsa. It tasted good and no complaints for our orders. Cashier and everyone at the restaurants are friendly. Best part of our visit was live music within the vicinity. YUMMY! Hubby found this breakfast spot one morning when on a sunrise stroll! We stopped by the next day for breakfast and were so impressed! They open at 8am and when we got there at 7:50 there was already a line up to the beach! The pancakes were huge and covered in fruit, which you can't beat! The avocado toast was AMAZING! The bread the toast came on was large a well which I was impressed by! -1 star for the amount of pigeons that won't leave you alone when eating :-( read more

Loved this place! We arrived early and had no trouble finding an open seat, but it definitely got busy as time went on. It was quick to order at the window and then have a seat, and our food came in no time. The pancakes and breakfast burrito were delicious, and the views and ambiance were really lovely with the sounds of the waves crashing and views of Waikiki. The coffee was fine but nothing to write home about. Breakfast was great and the location made it easy to take a walk down Waikiki afterwards! Had a long line because they were short staffed but the staff was still pretty fast and friendly. I ordered the egg fried rice which was yummy but small for the price. My friends had ordered the surf and turf and a burger which seemed to look tasty! The food was presented beautifully on their plates. They have tables that you can sit at with a great view. A must stop when in Waikiki! The line can be long at times but it's worth it. My go to is loco moco with surfers fried rice, it's a big portion and very yummy! Also tried the breakfast Sammie, which was very yummy as well. The pineapple smoothie is good and their iced coffee is perfect. My parents and I stopped here as we were already on Waikiki beach and wanted something quick and small. They have a cute seating area all outside with a little puka with an ordering counter. After waiting in a quite long line, I ordered a fried rice, Egg Lust Sandwich, and two smoothies for my parents and I. We received the smoothies right away. We got one mango and one strawberry smoothy, each for (I believe) $6. I was expecting fresh, REAL FRUIT smoothies but what I got were smoothies with artificial sugary flavoring smoothies. Then we got our order of fried rice and egg lust sandwich. ANOTHER disappointment. The fried rice basically had no ingredients. There were maybe tiny bits of vegetables but mostly it was just rice and whatever cheap seasoning they had added in. The Egg Lust sandwich was literally an egg on top of a bun. NO flavor! They put ZERO effort in making their foods and creating menus. It seems like the business just bought an expensive piece of land on Waikiki beach with cute outdoor seating (which had lots and lots of flies and pigeons flying around) to serve a low cost, no flavor foods and drinks. read more

Great atmosphere, great service, good prices for people traveling from the mainland. Problem is their restrooms are public/park style so there is NO hand soap, restrooms are really dirty, and the guys that are suppose to maintenance the area are just sitting around. I recommend this business, for sanitary reasons have a portable hand wash station if possible. Last thing we all need is someone getting really sick because of this. Please pack hand wipes and a lot of hand sanitizer. read more

Art Kalihiki has been singing his mellow and friendly Hawai'ian and contemporary music for 12 years at the Barefoot Beach Cafe starting at 5:30 pm Fridays and Su You sit ocean front. The view is terrific with killer sunsets. Watch for the "green flash at sunset. Be there by 5:40 pm so you don't have to wait in line for the Ono menu including fish grinds and fresh pineapple drinks. read more

We came because we wanted a quick snack and this is in a beautiful spot right on the beach. We ordered the breaded fish tacos and they were pretty terrible. We may be spoiled being from the South Bay where there are amazing tacos, but these were the smallest tacos we'd ever seen. It also came with a side of generic chips which seemed like someone had just poured store-bought chips onto the plate. They also barely had anything in them. The lady who took our order seemed completely annoyed that we had even come up to place an order in the first place and made us feel like we were disturbing her shift. Don't bother ruining a meal here even if it's a pretty location. read more

I always come here after surfing! A local and visitor favorite but they are always super consistent and reliable for a good meal so you are in good hands! We enjoyed their pineapple smoothie and their garlic shrimp plate. Love their outdoor seating and their friendly staff. Great views, okay food. If I'd known the vegan "burger" was going to be a yellowish lentil style patty that fell apart, I would have ordered something else and maybe had a different experience. I've been craving this place for the last year after seeing it featured on Cheap Lazy Vegan's YouTube video about the best vegan options in Honolulu. The vegan loco moco she had sounded INCREDIBLE. I was so excited to finally get here, all the way from Los Angeles, but was bummed to find out they were sold out of the vegan loco moco! Devastated even tbh, lol. The cashier who took my order was super friendly and recommended the vegan fried rice instead, so I ordered that for my mother and me. Unfortunately, neither of us were crazy about it. We found the rice to be pretty bland, and the tofu "egg" was salty. Sad times. I hate to give a small business less than five stars, and I'm sure that the other options here are amazing, but the fried rice wasn't it for us sadly. The view, atmosphere, quick line, and customer service would earn five stars on their own, and I'll definitely return next time I'm on Oahu. (Fingers crossed the vegan loco moco will be available then!) read more

Barefoot Beach Cafe was the perfect spot to enjoy a reasonably priced meal on the beach, with live Hawaiian music. According to my friendliness meter, Barefoot Beach Cafe has the friendliest greeter on the island of Oahu. Someone needs to give that woman a raise and make her employee of the month. Not only do they have the best service, but they have the best burgers in the island too. I tried the vegan burger, which has a curry plant-based patty. My husband ordered their classic burger and I preferred his over mine. We also ordered pineapple smoothies that are served inside of a pineapple. This drink is a must if you love pineapple! If you time your meal just right, then you can witness one of the loveliest sunsets from the restaurant. read more

Barefoot Beach Cafe is a casual oceanfront restaurant and cafe on Queen's Surf Beach in Kapiolani Park at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki. We are right at the local surf spot known as "Publics." We are open daily for dine-in and takeaway, serving breakfast until 2pm and lunch/dinner from 11am . Our menu features a full breakfast, gourmet plates of steak, fresh fish brought in daily, chicken, burgers (secret family recipe), hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, vegan/gluten-free items and more. This kind of sucked mid way through happy hour and one of the main drinks on that menu is not available. Not to worry, we tried a few of the other selections including the cucumber collins, and the mojito. We also ordered some appetizers and food, the fried mozzarella was very good, along with the wings. The wings were cooked well and were crispy. Dear Ms. Sakara Blackwell, A few words to describe our August 7th 2013, experience at your property known as 'Barefoot Beach Café. 1. naïve - "haole" 2. filthy 3. unsanitary Additional comments on your morning staff: 1. stupid 2. rude 3. cheats Our intent that morning was to walk Waikiki, take in the morning scene, view the Diamond Head Shoreline Fisheries Area and get a meal from your concession stand. The time was 7:15 am when we ordered two meals: eggs over easy bacon with two scoops of rice & illy coffee We paid the ticket and were told by the stupid counter clerk our # was 8. At 7:45 am order #9 was called. I observed an Asian male pick up 4 orders 2 containing two scoops of rice. The next order called was ours. My wife remained seated and I picked up both orders and two cups of soya sauce. So began a disturbing, filthy event. My wife notices my order had two scoops of rice - her meal had no rice or any substitute. She returned to the counter asking for an explanation. The rude, stupid clerk said "we're out of rice" and made no offer to provide anything else or refund the difference. "I left the food on the cement table only to witness seconds later a dozen pigeons fly from the rafters beginning an unhealthy, unsanitary event. Birds picked at everything. Food, feathers, poop & soya went everywhere." An observation - "out of rice" in 30 minutes and only nine orders taken and served! Ms. Blackwell, "out of rice" @ 8:45 am on an August morning. One might wonder if to maintain a profit margin, senior management told the cooks at your Barefoot Beach Café to keep the old rice from yesterday in the five gallon rice streamer only to make more when the old stuff is sold. If that is the case, Ms. Blackwell, can your early morning customers be guaranteed that the streamer lid was tightly closed during the night to keep the cockroaches from eating away at your profits and contaminating the morning meals? I would recommend the business owner of this place to come on a Friday evening and get a dinner here as a normal person would. Perhaps, during the 20+ minute wait in the line they would come up with a few ideas that could improve the dining experience here. If their creativity doesn't get stimulated, they could, at least, analyze why some people would take 3-5 minutes to place their order, and how much business they are loosing. More people could be served or come back to get another drink or a desert, but not the case with such punishing wait. I have lived in the Waikiki area about a year and half and I'd like to admit that I eat here about every other week. The prices are good for the Waikiki location right next to the ocean, live music on evenings, good spirit and atmosphere, and the grilled pupus are well crafted. Super delicious beyond expectations at a kiosk like this. Salad buffet on Fridays and Saturdays. Friday fireworks are an icing on the cake. Business-wise, this place seems to be doing better than a year ago. This might be the problem. During my last few visits, I got irritated that I feel I'd get some break from coming back. I think, the menu might have become too complicated or could be printed more legibly or displayed better. The person behind the register doesn't seem to care to connect with customers or might be just overworked. At the end of this ordering ordeal, I'm asked to leave a tip... Hmm... Don't get me wrong, you'll get a decent meal for your $$, but bring plenty of patience. read more

We love Barefoot Beach Cafe at Kapiolani Park! The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and one of the best parts of the experience. You can enjoy beautiful ocean views, breathtaking sunsets, and during the summer, even watch the Friday night fireworks from Waikiki around 7:45 PM. The food is delicious and offers something for everyone. We especially enjoy the poke bowls, burgers, fresh salads, and local fruit smoothies. Service was fast...you are called by name to pick up your dish;) What makes this place truly special is the Hawaiian experience. While you dine, you can listen to local musicians and sometimes enjoy hula performances, making it a perfect spot for both visitors and locals. ok all I got a say is WOW.so my family and I went swimming and I got so tired.but as we walk past this lovely place.my husband told me we should stop and see what they have,but I was so tired but still stop by.we order ono and opa plate..oh man my face was not tired anymore turn to a smily face.anyways good food friendly people and also beautiful place.. the cashier on that day ,it was mon the 6th around 4pm .the cashier was super nice wich I belive her name was kenyah.i think that's how she spelled her name,,everyone belive me when I say this..good food fast service and very very friendly cashiers..i don't regret spending my monet there.so please if your looking for a friendly fast service and a beautiful place to eat go to barefoot café..its the best place ive ever been to in Hawaii..love it and will be back tomorrow read more

Anytime I want to get a good meal at the beach this is my go to. I love that their dine in area has tables inside the pavilion and also umbrella tables near the beach. Their live music on certain days is also an excellent touch! Now on to what's important -- the food! The quality and ingredients are fresh and ono. Hubby and I shared the salad and also had a side of fries. The chicken was cooked to a tender juiciness that complimented well with the pineapple relish. The flavors blended well and the fresh greens were crunchy and vibrant! Definitely will be going back and taking the friend and family. Parking is easy too as you can park at Kapiolani park or right on the side of the street parking next to their location. Highly recommend going during sunset times in the afternoon/evening, you won't be disappointed! read more

Ordered malasadas and a smoothie. After waiting for 10 min for the smoothie and watching other people who ordered after me get their smoothies, reminded them about it. Finally got their mediocre smoothie which is just ice and some juice from concentrate and continued waiting for the malasadas while watching a couple of people come back to the window with the food they just received (obvious sign of this places mediocrity). After a few more minutes the girl at the register comes back and tells me she was not informed that they do not have malasadas and offered me ice cream or cheesecake. Epic fail. Asked for a refund and left with my slushie juice.... Also, I paid with a credit card and got my refund in cash. Another epic fail. read more

So friday night is the bbq.my husband and i called the cafe try to make reservation for13 of us but the girl that answer said she just keep on eye on the tables at 5:30. We finaly make it there..oh my all our food was perfectly amazing..delicious and good price too..my husband and i glad we take our friends there.the girl at the register came out to us and check us if everything was ok..she was just friendly and so nice of her to check on every one of us..i really dont know what everyones problem is ,for writing all this bad coments about this place..because this place is top on my list.good food,fast service and definitely nice friendly customer service.. read more

My friend took me to Queen's Surf Cafe & Lanai. It is near Waikiki Beach so The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere! ( but there were many pigeons...) I ordered Eggs Benedict(you can choose bacon, ahi and tomato. I chose ahi.) I have never eaten eggs Benedict. It was so delicious!!! I like hollandaise sauce!! it was delicious that I could not stop eating!! Between us, though Eggs Benedicts my friends ordered were decorated with flower and a pineapple, mine were not... -.- so it looked worse than others...less color Its locations and taste are also good! Location, location, location, we were seated literally a few steps from the beach. You couldn't ask for a better place to sit and eat a good meal. We went on a Friday evening around 6:30 and the atmosphere was amazing. There was a live band playing the sun was setting. The food was good and reasonably priced. You order at the window and they call you up to the window when your order is ready. I would have given a five star rating but the table was very sticky. This is the second disgustingly sticky table I've encountered. Maybe disgusting sticky tables are a "thing" in restaurants on Waikiki Beach. ‍ read more

Barefoot Beach Cafe was such a great find! We stopped by for breakfast and were really impressed. The smoothie was fresh, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. I ordered the breakfast burrito loaded with all the meats and avocado, and honestly, it surprised me in the best way. It was packed with flavor, filling, and much better than I expected. The best part is the location. It's right on the beach with a beautiful ocean view, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. Great food, great atmosphere, and a beautiful setting. We'd definitely come back the next time we're in Waikiki! read more

Very nice restaurant with a super chill vibe. I ordered the chicken and chips. Chicken was very juicy and cones with a crap ton of fries. Fiancé ordered the Furikake fish sandwich. Also very good. This dish does NOT come with fries. The sales girl at the counter ask if we wanted fries, but failed to mention the $3.00 up charge for adding fries. Fiancé could've easily shared my fries. Compared to the prices at nearby eateries, this place is very reasonable. Great location, great environment, incredible view, and good cooked food. Can't really go wrong here. read more

I routinely visit Oahu about once a year. Waikiki, specifically Kaimana Beach, is my favorite local beach to dip my feet into. While visiting again this year, I discovered an awesome little restaurant called Barefoot Beach Cafe. This place is perfectly located right on the beach about a block away from Kaimana. Huge menu that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't miss the ice cold coconut water served right from the coconut that they cut fresh for you. We ate here the last morning of our trip. I wish we had found it sooner! Everything is super fresh tasting. Definitely the best pancakes I've had in quite a long time. The view is great. You can watch people surfing while you eat. They're working on the sidewalk so there's kind of a fence there right now but hopefully that won't be there long. We waited about 25 minutes to order but the food came out very quickly. 4/5 only because it wasn't mouth dropping amazing. But definitely worth checking out on your trip read more
