This is a cute lunch counter easy to grab food from queens beach or near the far end of Waikiki beaches. We had a decent lunch, not amazing but gets the job done! Many other tasty restaurants I would rather give my money to but this is convenient and fast. Service was fine. This place is a little off the path if you are walking so don't give up. Plenty of public parking. The seating is basically on the beach. How can you beat that ? You get in line and order and then wait for your name to be called. They have a fresh fish of the day and amazing ahi poke. Someone in my group had swordfish where I stole a bite. Soo good. I wimped out and had fish and chips. The fish is lightly breaded and just fell apart in my mouth. Perfect portion size. I could have kept eating the fish all day so it was good that I had a limit. Friends wanted to meet up here for an early dinner (before it got too crowded) and we were all in! Last time we were in Honolulu. we had lunch. It is right on the beach at the junction of Kapiolani Park and Waikiki. Lunch was two Mahi-mahi sandwiches, which were delicious. For dinner, my wife and I split the grilled swordfish dinner with fries. Although it was a little overcooked, it was a wonderfully fresh piece of fish, which tasted great. The fries were tasty as well. You can't beat the prices considering the outdoor location and the views. Friendly service, very casual picnic tables for seating, and music in the evenings. As you approach this little spot at the far end of Waikiki Beach you'll arrive with expectations... "The food will be mediocre, at best." "It's a beach shack, so it'll be overpriced" etc. Thankfully, you'll be wrong...so very wrong. I have had several dishes here and they have all been excellent. The pork in that tacos is flavorful and delicious, none of the over porkyness that sometimes shows up. The poke is delicious, not over sauced...just right. The bbq chicken is just perfect. Charred well and flavorful. The staff is friendly and patient as you try to choose. The only, and I mean Only, issue was the bun for the hamburger. The other ingredients for the sandwich are excellent. But a brioche bun is a fad that needs to die, preferably in the heart of a volcano. Beautiful location for the sunset and lovely live music...but vegetarian dishes were absolute trash! I was so happy to see a vegan menu (I'm vegetarian) and the "petas best burger of 2021" note next to the vegan burger. It was so, so dry. There was the tiniest smudge of some sauce between the bread and a piece of lettuce and nothing else. I rarely leave/throw food but this was inedible :( the saving grace were the sweet potato fries. It was very disappointing. My friends got the vegan loco moco and said the exact same - they also left most of their food behind. My husband got the royal loco moco - the fried rice was good; he'd never had loco moco before and was surprised how salty/strong the gravy is - but we are assuming that is just how the dish is supposed to be so we won't judge the restaurant for that! The twist dole whip was great and the sweet potato fries were great. If you're looking for vegetarian options - definitely don't waste your time here :( read more

This is a great little spot on the beach for ordering a snack and potentially hearing some live music. We stopped in on a Monday after lounging around a bit to grab some lunch and I had to order the pineapple smoothie to see what all of the fuss was about. We ended up standing in line for quite some time and they were out of several ingredients for the day but overall this was a pleasant experience. They have QR codes for looking up the menu while you wait but we were having issues. It would be great if they could print up some enlarged versions and post them along the line area though I understand this could potentially become a litter hazard should the wind pick up. My wife and I spent six days in Honolulu on our honeymoon and came here three times. The restaurant was not that far of a walk from our hotel near Diamond Head. The first time we came here, we had just arrived into Honolulu and were looking for a quick meal as it was now around dinner time at our home. I ordered the Royal Loco Moco. The patty was juicy, the rice was cooked well, and the sauce was so flavorful. I complimented the order with a pineapple smoothie served inside the pineapple which was also good. I hadn't eaten a loco moco in years and this hit the spot. I ordered the açaí bowl on our second visit. The fruit was fresh and sweet. The granola added some nice crunch to the meal. It sure beat anything I could get at home. We went for breakfast on our last meal. I ordered the French toast. It came with fresh berries on soft brioche bread and powdered sugar. It was light, fluffy, and tasty - a great way to start the day. As far as environment, the restaurant is located right on the beach and is open air. It's got a causal, relaxed environment and I felt safe eating there as far as COVID issues are concerned. Most importantly, we were able to order quickly and got our food fast. That was much appreciated given that many restaurants in the area have long waits due to increased tourism and COVID restrictions limiting capacity. FOOD: Fresh Fish Catch of the Day ($14+tax), was Ahi with two small scoop of rice topped with furirake, sliced of lemon, one sliced small pineapple & green tossed salad. It was so frickin' delectable! I love everything in my plate & I am so pleased that I ordered this one. The fish is seasoned well & rice is perfectly cooked. AMBIANCE: Air flow vent & is a perfect spot to dine in especially during Covid-19. But since it is an open space, there were lots of flies trying to have a bit of taste from your food. People don't know this tip but I hope BBC will put tin foil inside an empty plastic water bottle then put water inside & just put it in every table. That will help. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Friendly & efficient towards customers. They still manage to smile & greet you. After they put in your order you need to wait for a couple of minutes & when food is ready, they will call your name & that's the time you get up to get your order at the counter. Our fourth trip to Oahu, and on each this has been our first stop for lunch. It's an iconic Hawaiian beach cafe. The food is served on paper plates,and all of the seating is outdoors (although a few tables are covered). A great people-watching spot as people walk along the beach. For us the grilled fish of the day (swordfish this time) and one of their smoothies are go-to first choices.this time we ordered garlic shrimp as well for some variety. Both come with a green salad and a generous portion of coconut rice. As in the past, the fish was perfectly cooked. The 6 large shrimp come in a tasty sauce that is perfect with rice. There is parking on the street - during weekends or busier times it can be more challenging to find but drive around and people are always coming and going. The food is good and comes fast. There is usually a wait to order - you order first then sit and they'll call you when your food is ready. We've been on weekends when they have live music. Seating is limited and all outdoors but there's grass areas all around and you can easily find a spot to sit and eat. read more
