My kid loved the fact that we were so close to the beach! Nice place with great food. I like going to the Barefoot Beach Cafe because of the location - it's just about unbeatable really! We've been to this place a few times and we've had good experiences. We usually come earlier in the day late breakfast or lunch. We aren't usually here for dinner, but our dinner experience was that they were out of a few of the menu items as it was just after reopening after a COVID shutdown and they were very short staffed so the food took a while during a rush - again due to COVID. They offer something for everyone on their menu and we have always been able to find a seat for 2 with a great view of the water, surfing, and sand:) read more

Worst service ever! Called multiple times to place a to go order and no one ever answered. Once I got there I waited in line for 20mins to place my order since there were 5 people ahead of me. After that I waited an additional 35mins and they still didn't get my order right and handed me a bacon omelette when I ordered a veggie omelette. The lady seemed annoyed and handed me someone else's order with mushrooms, cheese and onions. I just gave up after that because they already took so long for 1 order. The side potatoes were cold and there was no salt/pepper given and apparently they were out of butter too. Oh and no coffee either! They said they couldn't make lattes at this time only mochas. Overall, a disappointing experience after walking 15mins to get here from the hotel only to waste more than hour here to just get some breakfast. Ambience is great, outdoor seating right on the beach - exactly what you would expect from an outdoor Hawaiian cafe. Live music was a nice touch, but a bit loud and made it tough to hear the announcement saying your food was ready. Only real complaint is the service. I got to the window and was told to hold on for just a moment that turned into at least ten minutes of me standing there waiting and wondering if it was forgotten that they had customers. Location is what this place is all about. It is the only restaurant within a quarter mile (at least). It's right on the water/board walk right near Kapiolani park. Food: Hits and misses for me. Nothing is great, most of the food is pretty good, and i've had a few things that I wouldn't do ever again. Pretty Good: fish sandwich, grilled swordfish plate. Alright: Burger, bowls, tacos Not the place to get this kind of food: Ahi poke, Kalua Pork. Hawaiian food staples that are just done at many other places substantially better. Options: Good and bad. They have No Gluten/No animal options for the better half that eats like that. Keiki menu is limited- Cheese Quesadilla with fruit cup or fries. Beer/Wine- they don't have any. Back in the day, they let you bring your own, but I guess that's a "no-go" now too. So that's not cool. Service: Order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. Hit or miss on speed; the line is usually long. I've been there days where they whip right through it and other days where i've waited in line for over an hour. Really, this place boils down to location. You can eat right on the water, good viewing point for Friday night fireworks, and you can bring your dog and kids. Absolutely LOVE this place. Perched along the end of the Waikiki boardwalk the Barefoot Beach Cafe is the perfect start to any morning. Their menu ranges from lighter fares such as smoothies and salads to the heavier hawaiian staples like Loco moco. Only steps from the ocean so the view is perfect, even on a not so perfect day. We loved this little low-key beach side cafe. Prices were a little high, but everything was fresh and you could sit as long as you liked. We ate breakfast here twice - the spam and eggs, and swordfish and eggs were incredible. Both were sold with rice and furikake. The smoothies were delicious, too. The pineapple smoothie - holy cow. Really amazing. And it comes in a pineapple. It was DELICIOUS. They also have a water refill station. I recommend bringing your own bottle, because otherwise you pay for your cup. I love the Barefoot Beach Cafe for several reasons, but one of the main reasons I love it is because of its proximity to the ocean. It's truly oceanfront! Given most beachfront places in Waikiki are expensive, items at this little cafe are really reasonable! I've been here several times, but I went this past weekend on a Saturday morning to enjoy breakfast and some ocean views. I was lucky enough to snag parking right on Kalakaua! It was early, around 8:30 a.m., but there was already a rather long line formed at the cafe. I waited in line probably around 15-20 minutes, but somehow I didn't mind because the open air, ocean views, and Hawaiian music playing soothed my soul! I ordered a build your own omelet with garlic, onions, tomatoes, and Portuguese sausage. The omelet came with a salad, roasted potatoes and a fruit garnish. While waiting, I helped myself to their water that's flavored with pineapple and strawberries...super refreshing! My omelet was ready about 10 minutes later and I sat at a chair just near the walkway by the ocean. It was such a beautiful morning! My only complaint is that they got the ingredients in my omelet wrong. There was no Portuguese sausage, there was spinach and tomatoes, and red and green bell peppers. I didn't want to wait by sending it back, so I just ate it. No harm, no foul. In the past I've come here for their poke bowls which are really great. It's also a great spot for pau hana on Fridays because they serve up BBQ, and you can watch the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki. Her t-shirt even says "sunset served daily" and truly it's her sunshine that completely tops the experience of what BBC has to offer. Thank you Wanda for being there for everyone. YOU ROCK! When you finally get to the front of the line, Twani who runs the register is just as kind as ever and will graciously take your order and oooooh the garlic shrimp, always cooked to perfection!!! Actually, it doesn't matter what you order, the BBC dishes it. Traditional meals to Hawaiian style and ethnic, you simple can't go wrong. Most days of the week, there is Hawaiian music and on Saturdays, even some locals who perform a little hula. It's just a sweet spot with amazing service that equals the delicious food. The only negative...The long tables with benches are SUPER sticky and I don't think it's from sloppy eaters because I see Wanda wipe everything down. They need a refinish way sooner than later! But it's still a 5 star experience thanks to the bright lights of the staff and the outstanding fare. This place offers varied, and healthful allergen and vegan options in addition to pleasing the mainstream pallet. For the salmon burger,with a side of green salad. on a gluten-free bun. Also on the healthier side, They also have her smoothies as well. They serve typical fries, fish and chips, burgers and more. Right alongside the beach, the place is bathing suit attire, children, and pet friendly. Some late afternoons and evenings you'll be delighted by local music to enjoy the sunset. Ordered the food,and waited 40 min to be called in and said sorry they were out,had to wait another 20 min for a raw cooked tofu, thrown over some rice which was bland. All it's going for this restaurant is the view. it's just in front of the beach with horrible service and crappy food.Definitely a waste of money and time. It spoiled our evening. A great stop for coffee in the mornings as it's so close to our place - and it's Illy coffee! The 808 area code breakfasts are a great deal at $8:08. Early dinner is our favorite - get in early before the sunset rush or if it's busy get it to go and sit at a park bench. Live music starts at 5 usually. No liquor license here but a discreet BYOB works fine. Spicy garlic shrimp plate is good as long as you don't mind the sauce being a bit thick and goopy - can't fault the taste though which is consistently good. read more
