St. Louis style ribs with baked beans and collard greens
    Nathan D.

Def didn't hate it... but i really wanted to love it. Its decent bbq. Got the St. Louis ribs, collard greens, & baked beans. The greens and cornbread were the stars of the show..... very good! didn't like the flavor of the baked beans.. and found it to be more sauce than anything else. And the ribs... while good just weren't tender enough. .. so with that overall it was decent. maybe next time I'll try the chicken, pulled pork, or brisket because i really like the staff here.. and want to be able to give them more stars.

    Jerk pork and ribs.

What kind of sorcery is this?! The problem began when I was doing some housework during the week hanging some outdoor blinds and I needed to make a run to Home Depot during my project. The missus brought home food from a potluck that I was actually interested in. So I pull up to Home Depot and lo and behold, Barnes Brothers has their truck towing the smoker and first lured me with a menu. I gave it a look over while inside the store and thought about my food at home and that's when it hit me....the smoke from the delicious meats! So yeah, I had to stop and get some to take home for dinner. The fellas loaded my take home box so much that it was testing the boxes strength. I opted for ribs and jerk pork. The Jeep oozed with Smokey goodness on the drive home and when I got in, I open the box to be inundated with ribs, jerk pork, Mac n cheese, and rice. The rice went by the wayside but everything else was hot fire! The jerk tasted the same as I've had on roadsides in Jamaica which was delicious! The ribs.....ugh! Delicious. Naturally I had enough to take home and bring to work the next day. When I went to our break room to heat it up, the entire floor smelled of delicious BBQ. I don't know how often Barnes Brothers are at the Home Depot, but I've got to limit my trips so I don't end up 500lbs!

In honor of the first day of Take Out Week I will do my review on yesterday's find. I headed out West in search of the perfect Orchid. In my search I landed at Flamingo Road Nursery ie next review on my list. After all the shopping I headed over to Barnes Brothers BBQ & Grill said to myself why cook in this heat when I can do Take Out. So I head on over and menu was conveniently located at the door posted and laminated so you don't have to touch just read. I headed inside to place my order two full slabs of baby back ribs. The ok these as combos so got two sides with each as well as corn bread. I chose two Mac n cheese with cole slaw. Also I added on a corn on the cob $3. I asked if it was fresh the guy who takes the order says Yes. However next sentence was I don't eat Bar B Q. As I sit down at a picnic table to wait I get antsy or should I say I always get anxious to get home due to Covid 19. I get close to the pick up window and chat it up with Cherron she is getting my order together. Last minute I make a change as one of my sides would have been baked beans and I figure my son would not like it. So Cherron ie I Hope I am spelling her name right is also a transplant like me but from NYC had restaurants in the City Center as well as Harlem. Always glad to talk to a fellow NY person. So I take the food home I didn't expect it to be so much food. One Full Slab would have been plenty for me my husband and son. The Cole Slaw was terrific as was the Bar B Q sauce it really complimented the ribs I even dipped my corn bread in it. So why not 5 stars? The corn indeed was frozen yikes terrible and the corn bread sorry missed photo was two small could have eaten an entire tray. Fabulous food will definitely be back.

Fire BBQ here! Came during the weekend and the brisket and sweet beans are sooo good! I just recommended my marketing team to consider them for there next catering needs! Try all there ribs and be sure to grab a free mango at the door if theyre still there!

Where do I even start?! Located in flamingo road nursery. The actual restaurant is located in the back of the nursery. Parking is free and limited although we went during a slow time. You can smell the bbq as you exit your car and it smells so good. The restaurant doesn't have AC just big fans which adds to the experience. As you enter the restaurant you will prompted with the menu on a TV screen. It took me a while to choose since everything looks good. I am not a bbq person and usually go with ribs but this time I ordered bbq chicken bowl and half pound of brisket for the hubby. My sister order the st. Louis rib combo meal. The cashier will take your order and they will call your number when your order is ready. My sisters order came out first and the ribs looked meaty and tasty. Her order came with cilantro rice, corn salsa and cornbread. She enjoyed the ribs it was soft, tender and flavorful. Not too heavy on the seasoning. Her favorite was the cornbread it was soft and delicious. Although the combo only came with 3 ribs it was enough since my sister couldn't even finish it. As for my order they gave me a generous amount of rice with the bbq chicken topped with corn salsa. The bbq chicken tasted tender and flavorful. The bbq brisket was so tender and full of flavor. The hubby enjoyed the brisket with side dish of mac and cheese. Recommend this place if you are craving for a good bbq and good cornbread. Definitely will try the slab of ribs next time.

Located within Flamingo Nursery it's been on my list of places to try after hearing it had some hometown St. Louis roots. When I walked in I was highly disappointed by the menu as I expected more St. Louis flare - burnt ends, brisket, greens, green beans, smoked turkey, etc. There wasn't any of that so I settled for a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and a frozen apple cider. I will say for it just being a pulled pork sandwich I waited over 20 minutes for my sandwich. While the wait was disappointing the sandwich definitely was not! When I was called up to the window to pick up my meal I was immediately hit with a piled high smokey aroma sandwiched in between two fluffy pieces of bun. The pork was piled high and had a delicious smoke flavor in even bite. I wanted to try the several bbq sauces but all of the bottles on my table and the nearby tables had bugs swarming and landing on them. The coleslaw was something left to be desired but luckily I made a comment to the guy at the window and he got me a cup of greens they had in the back. Why they weren't on the menu, he didn't have an answer for but they were absolutely delicious! Even though the menu was lacking, the wait was excessive and the bbq sauces were covered with bugs, the food made up for it! Hoping they change their menu up from time to time and I'll be back for more!

The best smoked brisket ever!!! You have to try this barbeque place run by two brothers. They are conveniently located on Flamingo Road inside Flamingo Road nursery. The owners are friendly and care about the quality of their product. Go by and visit. You will see their huge smoker going in the front. They are located on the back left side of the property. It's a great place to take the family because everyone can explore the nursery after.

I've been to the Flamingo Road Nursery numerous times but have never tried this BBQ place there. I like that it is a screened in and fan cooled outdoor area and that you can see and smell and the BBQ action around you. My DH and I shared a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and the mac n cheese. The pulled pork was chunked, not shredded, and full of flavor - very tender. I took the side of coleslaw and put in on the sandwich then used their Carolina sauce and voila - I had some pretty genuine Carolina BBQ! The mac n cheese was incredible. For $2 your got a tasty side. I really liked the amount of pepper they used in the mac n cheese. Tip: be patient - orders take about 10-15 minutes to get out. Just enjoy the scenery and relax while you wait for your food!

The Spread: We ordered the brisket, smoked chicken, spare ribs, and baby back ribs -- yes, all four -- on one tray lined with butcher paper. It looked like a BBQ fever dream and tasted even better than it looked. The Meats: The brisket was the standout for me. Smoked over real wood for 12+ hours, hand-carved, pink smoke ring, tender all the way through. The baby back ribs were glazed and meaty with deep smoky flavor, and the spare ribs were thick, juicy, and packed with bold bark. The smoked chicken rounded it all out -- moist, flavorful, never dry. The Sides: Rice and peas with coconut milk -- fragrant and perfectly cooked. The 4-cheese mac was outrageously creamy (I kept going back for more). The sweet and tangy coleslaw was the perfect palate cleanser between bites of rich, smoky meat. The Extras: The 4-pack of sliders was a great add -- soft buns, well-seasoned patties, could easily make a meal on their own. The fries were golden and crispy. And the watermelon lemonade Kool-Aid with berries at the bottom? Refreshing, unique, and the perfect closer to an incredible meal. The Space: Big news for fans of Bare Bones -- they've just opened a brand new storefront next door with about a dozen additional tables and plenty of seating for the whole family. No more eating in your car or rushing home with takeout. You can now sit back, relax, and enjoy that tray of smoked goodness the way it was meant to be experienced. It's a welcome upgrade that somehow makes the food taste even better. This is a family-run operation with over 20 years of food experience and it shows in every detail. Bare Bones isn't just good BBQ -- it's a South Florida treasure.

There is also a lot of alcoholic drinks on the menu with daily specials. Our usual go to for fried chicken is CM in North Miami Beach, but my husband prefer this place for a cleaner, more comfortable space, and he loves not having to deal with bones. He really likes his chicken in soy garlic flavor with sweet potato fries. Me, I actually prefer gnawing on bones (guess I am a dog person alright). I also find CM's chicken has better flavor in the meat itself. Another problem I have with bb.q is that the quality is not quite consistent. One time the chicken barely have any coating it was almost like grilled chicken with sauce. Another time the coating was so thick it wasn't cooked through and the soft doughy bit wasn't exactly pleasant in the mouth.

You can tell when BBQ is freshly prepared or has been sitting around for a while & they sure do it right here; the meat is never dried out or under seasoned. Portions are hearty & they have some amazing sides to go along with your main dish. You can't go here without ordering the fried okra or Mac & cheese. Their baked beans are also good, with a nice hint of sweetness that isn't too much. On that note, I can drink their sweet tea by the gallon. At Shorty's, I asked if the 1/4 chicken dish was gluten free. The server said yes it's just baked chicken and I asked about the marinade per the menu. She said it's "Shorty's sauce" so I asked if it's GF and she said she didn't know, so I asked if she can please find out. She came back and said there's no marinade so I went ahead and ordered the chicken. I asked her if she could tell me if any of the table sauces were GF and again "I don't know". I asked if she can please ask someone who would know and no rush. She said she would get someone to come talk to me. Several minutes passed, she brings my food and I ask again about the sauce and she seems bothered and said they are way too busy and probably no one will be able to come talk to me. I wait some more time, and when the next round of meals comes out, we ask again and she reiterated that it's too busy and no manager or chef was able to give her a simple answer about if the BBQ sauce is gluten free. All she said was she knows the bbq is "sugar free or something". So after waiting, I just decided to eat and the chicken was BONE DRY. It felt like sacrilege the way they cooked that chicken until it was nearly powdered. Fast forward and meal ends and the server noticed I didn't eat much and asked why, I said the chicken is dry and she said "oh yeah it's always dry and you couldn't have sauce". ... Anyway, we will not be back. I'm also not convinced that she even brought up the question to manager. As someone who has worked in the food industry for several years, I feel it is the bare minimum to understand common allergens and restrictions that people may have and that they deserve to be taken seriously.

Located off Stirling Road (accessible from both directions), Hong's BBQ sits amongst the various shops that make up the Stirling Place Plaza. If you're here based off your search for food around the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Hollywood, you've got the same idea as us and this review is for you; Hong's is essentially "around the corner" from the casino and a great option if you want to venture off the resort for some great food. Recommended by a source for reliable eats, we decided to give Hong's BBQ a go before our trip back to Tampa. We found that Hong's BBQ has some great authentic Canto-style Chinese cuisine. Not big by any means (you can't necessarily host a large banquet style gathering here), there is definitely ample seating - mainly suited for parties of 4. We came around 1pm on a Sunday and had no issues being seated - although the restaurant maintained a steady flow of customers in and out of the restaurant. There are a few larger round tables scatter throughout with the typical lazy-susan setup in the center that may accommodate larger parties of 6-8. If you're not interested in dining-in, there is definitely a "butcher's" station/display that is set up toward the back of the dining section. The setup within the restaurant definitely brought back nostalgic memories of Chinatown restaurants and their racks of char-siu, roast duck, pig, and soy chicken hanging under the heating lamps. From here, you can order cuts of the aforementioned meats by weight without the "extras." The menu offered a great variety of Canto-style cuisine; I would argue that it's hard to go wrong with a choice based on their selections they have available. We ordered two noodle soups (roast duck and char siu), along with an order of the beef chow fun, which were all outstanding. Beginning with the noodle soups, you have 3 different noodle options; I opted for the flat rice noodles which I instantly craved upon identifying it as a choice. The noodles were cooked to al-dente perfection that had a good amount of "bounce" while easy to chew. The broth was also on a whole other level that warrants praise in itself. The beef chow fun is also a must - yes, I recognize that this may be considered a "basic" choice, but Hong's BBQ makes this the right way. The service wasn't poor - let's just say that it falls in line with the coveted 3-star Asian restaurant rating (If you know, you know). The servers knew how and when to deliver. All in all, Hong's BBQ is a great place to dine with your family. I would recommend this to anyone in or travelling to this area.

It was empty. But it slowly got more diners, with about 5 tables filled before we left. Service was fine but the waitress who took our order barely spoke English and it was difficult getting answers about items on the menu. Nevertheless, we ordered pan-fried dumplings, the three meat combo plate with roast duck, BBQ roast pork, and crispy pork. We also got a seafood platter with salt and pepper shrimp, squid, and scallops. The latter didn't have much taste. We couldn't even taste any salt and pepper. The dish came on a bed of shredded raw cabbage. There was no rice. When I asked, the server (a different one from the woman who took our order) brought us a small bowl. They had forgotten to put the rice on the plate. (The dish is advertised as being served on a bed of rice.) The meat platter was decent. Although the duck skin needed to be crispier, the pork skin was very crispy. The BBQ roast pork was tasty, boasting a nice char siu flavor. The few strands of Chinese broccoli that was served with the dish was cold, as if it was added from the refrigerator. We enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings. They seemed to be homemade. One appetizer, two entrees, tax, and tip was $66.
