I stumbled upon this Barnes Brothers mobile Barbeque setup in the parking lot of The Home Depot in the Oakwood Shopping Center. It was chilly and drizzling out and Alex was busy preparing an order of ribs for another customer. I loaded my purchases into my car and walked over, drawn by the incredibly good smells. To say I was not expecting what I experienced at Barnes & Brothers bbq would be an understatement. To start its located in the Flamingo Road Nursery. You know the place where you get plants and gardening supplies. When we first walked into the place we were a little confused. Through the door is an open picnic type area with an electronic menu a little to the right with the pick up area to the left. We wanted to walk over to the pick up area, but surprise, surprise, surprise the register where you order is odd in the corner on the right. When we were waiting for our food I watched other patrons with the same confusion. Just a warning, it is outdoors, has screens and fans, but it still has flies and I can imagine on a hot Florida day it might be a little uncomfortable to dine in. We ordered a bbq combo which comes with two sides, and cornbread, but I think they forgot the corn bread and since that's not really my thing I just let it go. The sides we ordered were coleslaw, collard greens, and cilantro coconut rice. We also ordered a pulled pork sandwich which came with a side of coleslaw. The pork on the sandwich was so abundant it feel out with every bite. The food is simply OMG delicious. It was not anything like I was expecting at all. I will start with the sides and then get to the bbq. The coleslaw was very fresh, like it had been made the same day and not been sitting in a refrigerator. The collard greens were also fresh and had latin seasoning, bat leaves and red and yellow peppers. It was so really good. The cilantro coconut rice was also really delicious. So for the bbq they have 3 types of sauce, a regular bbq sauce, a spicy, and a Carolina sauce which has a mustard base. When I tasted by themselves I wasn't too impressed, especially the spicy sauce which seemed to have too much dry seasoning on it's own. Boy how wrong was I. When on the bbq the sauces are perfect, the best one of all the spicy bbq. The sample platter had sausage, ribs, chicken, and chopped pork. All were really great. The sausage had a soft texture which I didn't care for, but the flavor was really good. Don't underestimate Barnes Bothers BBQ like I did. Def didn't hate it... but i really wanted to love it. Its decent bbq. Got the St. Louis ribs, collard greens, & baked beans. The greens and cornbread were the stars of the show..... very good! didn't like the flavor of the baked beans.. and found it to be more sauce than anything else. And the ribs... while good just weren't tender enough. .. so with that overall it was decent. maybe next time I'll try the chicken, pulled pork, or brisket because i really like the staff here.. and want to be able to give them more stars. read more

What kind of sorcery is this?! The problem began when I was doing some housework during the week hanging some outdoor blinds and I needed to make a run to Home Depot during my project. The missus brought home food from a potluck that I was actually interested in. So I pull up to Home Depot and lo and behold, Barnes Brothers has their truck towing the smoker and first lured me with a menu. I gave it a look over while inside the store and thought about my food at home and that's when it hit me....the smoke from the delicious meats! So yeah, I had to stop and get some to take home for dinner. The fellas loaded my take home box so much that it was testing the boxes strength. I opted for ribs and jerk pork. The Jeep oozed with Smokey goodness on the drive home and when I got in, I open the box to be inundated with ribs, jerk pork, Mac n cheese, and rice. The rice went by the wayside but everything else was hot fire! The jerk tasted the same as I've had on roadsides in Jamaica which was delicious! The ribs.....ugh! Delicious. Naturally I had enough to take home and bring to work the next day. When I went to our break room to heat it up, the entire floor smelled of delicious BBQ. I don't know how often Barnes Brothers are at the Home Depot, but I've got to limit my trips so I don't end up 500lbs! read more

In honor of the first day of Take Out Week I will do my review on yesterday's find. I headed out West in search of the perfect Orchid. In my search I landed at Flamingo Road Nursery ie next review on my list. After all the shopping I headed over to Barnes Brothers BBQ & Grill said to myself why cook in this heat when I can do Take Out. So I head on over and menu was conveniently located at the door posted and laminated so you don't have to touch just read. I headed inside to place my order two full slabs of baby back ribs. The ok these as combos so got two sides with each as well as corn bread. I chose two Mac n cheese with cole slaw. Also I added on a corn on the cob $3. I asked if it was fresh the guy who takes the order says Yes. However next sentence was I don't eat Bar B Q. As I sit down at a picnic table to wait I get antsy or should I say I always get anxious to get home due to Covid 19. I get close to the pick up window and chat it up with Cherron she is getting my order together. Last minute I make a change as one of my sides would have been baked beans and I figure my son would not like it. So Cherron ie I Hope I am spelling her name right is also a transplant like me but from NYC had restaurants in the City Center as well as Harlem. Always glad to talk to a fellow NY person. So I take the food home I didn't expect it to be so much food. One Full Slab would have been plenty for me my husband and son. The Cole Slaw was terrific as was the Bar B Q sauce it really complimented the ribs I even dipped my corn bread in it. So why not 5 stars? The corn indeed was frozen yikes terrible and the corn bread sorry missed photo was two small could have eaten an entire tray. Fabulous food will definitely be back. read more

Good reviews, but terrible customer service. I was plant shopping at the nurseries on Flamingo Road this past Sunday when I decided to look for a nearby spot for some food. Barnes brothers bbq had great reviews so I pulled up at 4:30pm, thankful that the food truck was still open because the listed hours say it closes at 5pm. I walked up to an empty truck with its windows open. I guess one of the truck operators saw me and started walking out of some bushes. I asked if he was open, and he barked at me, "What you need, lady?" turning his back to me without waiting for a response. I repeated my question and he again barked his same question in response. That was all I needed to hear to decide that I wouldn't be spending money at this establishment. To the Barnes bros: You could have just said that you've already started cleaning up and closed for the day. Instead, you were very rude and lost a potential customer. Where do I even start?! Located in flamingo road nursery. The actual restaurant is located in the back of the nursery. Parking is free and limited although we went during a slow time. You can smell the bbq as you exit your car and it smells so good. The restaurant doesn't have AC just big fans which adds to the experience. As you enter the restaurant you will prompted with the menu on a TV screen. It took me a while to choose since everything looks good. I am not a bbq person and usually go with ribs but this time I ordered bbq chicken bowl and half pound of brisket for the hubby. My sister order the st. Louis rib combo meal. The cashier will take your order and they will call your number when your order is ready. My sisters order came out first and the ribs looked meaty and tasty. Her order came with cilantro rice, corn salsa and cornbread. She enjoyed the ribs it was soft, tender and flavorful. Not too heavy on the seasoning. Her favorite was the cornbread it was soft and delicious. Although the combo only came with 3 ribs it was enough since my sister couldn't even finish it. As for my order they gave me a generous amount of rice with the bbq chicken topped with corn salsa. The bbq chicken tasted tender and flavorful. The bbq brisket was so tender and full of flavor. The hubby enjoyed the brisket with side dish of mac and cheese. Recommend this place if you are craving for a good bbq and good cornbread. Definitely will try the slab of ribs next time. read more

Located within Flamingo Nursery it's been on my list of places to try after hearing it had some hometown St. Louis roots. When I walked in I was highly disappointed by the menu as I expected more St. Louis flare - burnt ends, brisket, greens, green beans, smoked turkey, etc. There wasn't any of that so I settled for a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and a frozen apple cider. I will say for it just being a pulled pork sandwich I waited over 20 minutes for my sandwich. While the wait was disappointing the sandwich definitely was not! When I was called up to the window to pick up my meal I was immediately hit with a piled high smokey aroma sandwiched in between two fluffy pieces of bun. The pork was piled high and had a delicious smoke flavor in even bite. I wanted to try the several bbq sauces but all of the bottles on my table and the nearby tables had bugs swarming and landing on them. The coleslaw was something left to be desired but luckily I made a comment to the guy at the window and he got me a cup of greens they had in the back. Why they weren't on the menu, he didn't have an answer for but they were absolutely delicious! The best smoked brisket ever!!! You have to try this barbeque place run by two brothers. They are conveniently located on Flamingo Road inside Flamingo Road nursery. The owners are friendly and care about the quality of their product. Go by and visit. You will see their huge smoker going in the front. They are located on the back left side of the property. This was terrible bbq. I ordered through Grubhub. That service was fine. The St. Louis ribs were terrible. It was smoked to a coal leaving an aftertaste. You could tell the grill grates haven't been cleaned. Each bite left you with this gritty sand chew. It's clearly burnt bits that have just sat and burnt through. It was terrible. The sides I ordered never came with the order either so they thought packing extra ribs would make up for not having the sides. It would in most bbq shops if the food was good. This is a hard pass and never going back. There's a bbq guy that pulls up to the Home Depot in Weston I could have sworn the guy saying his restaurant was called Barnes brothers as well. Hidden gem! Delicious BBQ, the ribs were just perfect. They have an amazing jerk sauce and bbq sauce. I totally recommend. I've been to the Flamingo Road Nursery numerous times but have never tried this BBQ place there. I like that it is a screened in and fan cooled outdoor area and that you can see and smell and the BBQ action around you. My DH and I shared a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and the mac n cheese. The pulled pork was chunked, not shredded, and full of flavor - very tender. I took the side of coleslaw and put in on the sandwich then used their Carolina sauce and voila - I had some pretty genuine Carolina BBQ! The mac n cheese was incredible. For $2 your got a tasty side. I really liked the amount of pepper they used in the mac n cheese. Tip: be patient - orders take about 10-15 minutes to get out. I went to Flamingo Road Nursery to buy some plants and when I stepped out of my car, I was hit with the most delicious aroma. My nose followed the smell (picture a Looney Tunes cartoon character) to the source and I decided then and there that we would be having BBQ Brisket for dinner. This is the BBQ restaurant that is on the Flamingo Road Nursery property. They have always had a BBQ stand but they recently did some upgrades and now this is a full BBQ restaurant. They have added a screened in room, plants, decorations, and picnic tables. You can chose to eat outside under the patio or chickee hut or inside the screened in area that has fans. You place your order with the cashier and then the pick it up at the food preparation area. I came on a rainy Friday afternoon and I was their only customer. The smell is heavenly as you walk up to the restaurant. After a day of exploring local Davie parks I was starving and decided to bring some BBQ home for lunch. You can choose from burgers, sandwiches, and meat by the pound. I chose the full rack of baby back ribs combo with two sides. I picked the fries, macaroni and cheese, and paid for an extra slaw. I also received a cornbread. My entire meal came to $25 and it was enough to share with my daughter for lunch and we still had ribs left over. I like when BBQ places have a variety of sauces to pick from and they had several here. You could decide between sweet flamingo, my favorite Memphis bourbon, spicy flamingo, and parmesan garlic. I thought the meal was a good value for the money. I loved how everything tasted especially the cornbread which is normally something I toss to the side. It was so sweet and full of flavor here. The staff was so super friendly and encouraged me to take a rib and sample all the sauces. The restaurant is so cute and you have the entire Flamingo nursery to explore after you finish your meal. I've been meaning to try this place out, because everytime I'm shopping at the nursery the tasty aroma of the smoker called out to me. Today I answered that call and it was delicious! My son had the Flamingo Burger, my wife had the Coconut Cilantro Bowl with Grilled Chicken and I had a Beef Brisket Sandwich. It was all freshly made and very tasty. Sheron brought my son a fresh slice of cornbread topped with Coconut Sauce and it was the most moist cornbread I've ever tasted. If you can't find the place, just follow your nose. The chef recommended the St. Louis Style Ribs, which I ordered to go. Can't wait to try it. read more

Our experience wasn't as good as it seems others have posted. We ordered cheese burger, loaded baked potato and pulled chicken sandwich. It was pretty clear they didn't make ours fresh. The baked potato likely was pre-cooked, then microwaved with enough cheese to make you nauseous. It was pretty obvious it was microwaved as the foam clamshell it came in was completely warped and melted. We had to send the burger back because the burger was hard and not really hot and the inside of the buns were burnt black. Pulled chicken sandwich was pretty good. Went to Barnes Brothers today. Had the meat sampler. I would say that they are mediocre at best. The smoke ring was there the juiciness was not. The ribs were very fatty with not much juiciness at all. Coslaw slaw was mediocre etc. etc. I don't know where these people come off reviewing this place has five stars have they ever had barbecue before in their life? Good grief read more

I was pleasantly surprised to stumble on to Barnes Brothers BBQ! They offer all kinds of BBQ choices! I selected the brisket and it was perfect! The real treat was the sauce. Excellent food choice. For my birthday this year I wanted to get BBQ that I did not cook. I usually do my own ribs and brisket and all, but after all of this quarantine nonsense, I wanted to be lazy and let somebody else feed me. I knew about Barnes from their spot at the nursery and because they cater to some local businesses. On my birthday, I had a few adult beverages and thought it might be best to have delivery. Barnes bros popped up. I ordered ribs, baby backs and StL plus brisket and chicken with some sides. If you are a BBQ aficionado then you notice that the Barnes product is island style. The top coat is black, not from burning but from the way that the seasonings cook. It is not the same as other grill or smoker char and is very tasty. The meat was excellent and the brisket slices included the burnt ends. Everything was wet moist, perfectly cooked and seasoned in the Barnes method. Completely wonderful. The sides are also unique. The greens and beans are not typical and have an island twist. The greens are a treat with great texture, a touch of coconut milk ( I think) and spices that are terrific and uniquely delicious. The greens are reason enogh to go there even though they are considered vegetarian. (Really, at a BBQ joint?) Cole slaw is top 5 in my 60 plus years of taste testing in 42 states and many other countries. Beans are also unique with Island spices. The BBQ sauce is very supportive but nothing remarkable. Overall, very good food once again that was very much enjoyed. We Will surely be back for more. Great job by the Barnes crew. read more

Finally an authentic BBQ joint close by. The staff is extremely friend and make you feel at home every time. A must try item is their "off the menu" Pastrami. It's not always offered but when they do...it goes fast. Side dish are off the cuff as well. You won't leave hungry. read more
