This is the best Pizza you will ever have !! Even if you go to Italy this is the best ever !! The best crust and amazing sauce !! I've been going here since I was 5 years old , so about for 50 years . I've tried them all and no one compares to Baroness!! Family owned forever and thank God it's still around. Please go there even if it's not close by , we must keep a fantastic place like this open . Best pizza and marinara sauce . All the food and pizza has an amazing flavor because of the excellent sauce . Please support them and give it a try , you'll never go anywhere else for Italian food and pizza . Full restaurant in Van Nuys on Oxnard & woodman or mostly pick up pizza in Woodland Hills , a few outside tables there . Very old fashion , food overwhelmed with tomato sauce , I guess they are know for their pizzas but we didn't get any . Our pasta dishes were nothing special . Good atmosphere if you like the Roaring 20's or you are in your 80's .. parking outside their parking area is horrendous. read more

This restaurant never fails. It is always incredibly delicious and the service is always great. So wonderful to have a neighborhood establishment that is always consistent, friendly, and reasonably priced. It is an old-school traditional restaurant, which is so rare these days. I want to leave this review because this place has been with my family since I was born, and I absolutely love it! I can understand why it may have some low ratings, but it's because they are known for their amazing pizza! I have been here multiple times and in the past have tried some of their other dishes, but I do not find them as attractive as their pizza. If you're looking for a good homemade pizza around town, then Barone's is where it's at!! Nowadays, there are so many different pizza joints around and coming out that it gets overwhelming (that and they all taste the same). New Italian restaurant alert (for me). This place is bigger than I expected it to be. It has a more sports bar feel to it and appears to have a wood dance floor in the center, perhaps event are booked here too, but I'm not sure. Parking is valet but there is street parking on either sides of the street. Beware of the parking signs in the surrounding residential area, I would hate for you to get a ticket. Okay. Let's talk food. The classic lasagna with meat sauce was so good! The gooey meaty cheesiness was so tasty I was tempted to order one to go for lunch the next day. Don't judge me! Now listen. The veggie lasagna was absolutely BOMB!!! I was so blow away by how flavorful the dish was. It tasted as if the chef went to the grocery store, just for me, to prepare this dish with uber fresh ingredients. You all have to try it. The garlic bread was really good and The pricing was reasonable and I left completely satisfied. The staff was amazingly polite and seemed genuinely happy. When we arrived, the parking lot was empty. There was valet. We asked if we had to valet. I was surprised that they actually had valet. They said yes otherwise we would have to park around the corner. They should have a public parking lot available for people who don't wish to. This didn't appear to be an upscale restaurant from the outside. Once we returned from where our car was parked, the staff was incredibly nice, our waiter was wonderful. Our appetizer was the portobello mushrooms ravioli and it was delicious. We ordered the pizza from a recommendation from a friend. We were so excited to try the pizza however when it came out half of it was burnt. The other half seem to be OK both sides had good flavor. I definitely think we will come back. I just hope that we don't have a burnt pizza again, as far as the atmosphere goes, it is an older crowd, nice and quiet. most seem to be over the age of 50, which is always a good sign of an older restaurant and how long they have been around. It was a relaxed atmosphere. It looked a little outdated inside and out but the decor showed it was definitely an Italian restaurant. With that said these places are usually super delicious and it was. you're not really paying for ambience. Our waiter was very punctual and our food came out in a timely manner. if any of the other dishes are anything like the portobello ravioli, we will definitely be back. The sauce was so good, I couldn't understand why the pizza was burned and no one offered to remake it. Overall, it was a good experience. read more

I was recommended this place from a coworker who said raving reviews and decided to try it out! We shared some amazing calamari, which I had been craving. They were perfectly tender, which a nice crispy outside, and not super heavy or greasy. We also have the fettuccine alfredo which was super creamy and the lasagna with meat sauce, which was huge and jam packed with so much ricotta. It was heavenly! The service was great, but definitely prepare to wait a little long while they prepare your foods, because they are fresh and made to order. Swung by for a cheese pizza to go with extra sauce on the way back to Northern California. The pizza is definitely a little different than the type of pizza you would get at a round table or other pizza place. Crust is thin and flaky and the sauce is pretty good. I would recommend trying it out as a different type of pizza and appreciating it for what it is. read more

Enjoyed classic italian food at the iconic restaurant on a Saturday night with my family celebrating my birthday. 3rd visit to Barone's while visiting my son. All our entrees were spot on. Everyone was satisfied with their meals. Classic Carbonara, Fettuccine Alfredo, Veal Parm and Shrimp Scampi. Classic garlic bread was crisp and buttery. Pasta and veggie mixed served on the side. The toppings are excellent, especially their pepperoni which curls in little cup like configurations when cooked. I have never tasted a pizza just so satisfying in taste and consistency. Best Pizza in town. If you want Pizza - go to a family italian restaurant (preferably here) instead of a pizza joint. I can't keep my hands off of pizza! Just check the picture attached! I've had most of the pizza's in town and if you don't believe me you can test me. Italian restaurants and pizza joints. Sure, get yourself some cheap pizza most of the time. Heck I've even tried every frozen pizza from every store. I'm like a DJ searching for the perfect song for every situation. Instead of headphones and turntables I have a fork and a bib. And don't even try to judge me for eating pizza with a fork. It doesn't change the flavor and it saves my teeth from both hot bites and reduces the chance of breaking them on the bite (which I have done but you probably don't believe that either). Why doesn't anyone believe me? On a side note everyone thinks I did something to my wife because she has been missing for a couple weeks now. I don't know what to say, I don't want to sound like a Karen. I needed a steak knife for the eggplant parmigiana. The attitude of our serving lady left much to be desired. She did refund the eggplant, however. Commented on how I ate my salad, which was weird...set off a strange atmosphere for the meal... she noticed I didn't finish the mousse either... like I said I don't want to sound like a Karen but it was not chocolate mousse. Tasted like so much preservatives. Not what I'm used to in a mousse! She offered to refund that also, but I could see an issue arising with her. My mom enjoyed her meal... she doesn't want to make waves however. I did tip, as there were others involved in the whole process. Won't go there again for a nice lunch with my sweet mom. There were other things as well but, Will go elsewhere next time. I don't need that kind of experience anymore. There are better places for a nice lunch experience. We finally sit in a booth, stressed server takes our order, we order beer and wine, we had to ask for bread. no menu was provided) ordered the regular always good capresse and a large anchovy/mushroom pizza. Tomato slices were light pink unripe tomato, green to the taste. 4 puny slices with basil and Buffalo mozzarella very skimpy slices. Pizza was delicious, large two item, 40$? This place has, and always had, the very best Pizza you can find! It has been around for like 60 yrs, (not this location) but in the valley. Service is good, house Italian salad dressings is full of cheese and flavor and just great! Dark inside with deep red booths like it had in the 60's.. One issue they need to be addressed is their mandatory Valet parking! I would have given them 5 stars but this really irritated me! Arrived 6 pm, 5 cars in the lot and one was my sons. No attendant to be seen so I park my car. As I enter the door the attendant shows up and demands my keys and gives me a ticket. My son had the same experience when he arrived. We go to leave and the attendant hands us our keys and said we had to pay him $6.00 PER Car! Maybe it's just me but the lot was still empty so clearly no need for a valet; come on now Barone's!! read more

Me and my bestie popped in here yesterday for happy hour and had a blast sitting at the bar. There were a few regulars hanging out and we made fast friends with them and Marco the bartender. Mary B and I split the warm calamari salad with artichoke hearts and it was amazing and delicious! We also shared a few glasses of the house rose and it was pretty good! The ambience and calamari salad deserve a solid 4 stars and we will be back soon for more!! Super fun neighborhood hang which I highly recommend!! read more

Whatever you do when you enter the door... do not ask the blonde woman supposedly named Amy who worked on 11/03/2024 at approx 5:30pm ANYTHING! And I mean ANYTHING!!!! One of the rudest staff members of any restaurant I've ever been to.... All over a simple question of "can I please get a pack of crayons for my daughter." I first walked up to ask her for a pack of crayons she explained to me how already placed crayons at our table, I showed her the pack was all broken and asked if I could get another. She already gave me an extremely rude smirk and told me I would need to wait... (for crayons). I went back to my table, sat for a few minutes and wondered how it could possibly be such an ordeal to get crayons. I then went back up a second and again asked for a pack of crayons. This time she got up from her little stool in the empty front room where absolutely no customers were waiting for her to assist them, got up in my face and told me she already sat our table and it was no longer her problem. I asked for her name and she refused to give it to me several times, I asked to talk to a manager which she refused to point me to. She made a huge scene in front of several coworkers and guests telling them how much of an issue it was that I wanted a pack of crayons for my daughter. To reiterate again... this was over a pack of crayons! I don't care how good the food could possibly be here, having a person who is so rude and miserable being the first face you see when you enter the restaurant makes me never want to come back again. Any of you parents who know how difficult it can be to keep a toddler entertained while out at dinner can surely understand my simple request for a usable pack of crayons. Very very sad. read more

There happens to be a shortage of anchovies on Frank's pizza, My suggestion...order pepperoni instead...more flavor...honestly I barely tasted the anchovies very disappointing especially when you crave something and don't get it!
