The tacos were varied, creative, and outstanding with a lot of fun options, the ambience was very chill and laid back, and I can't say enough about the bartender Andrew and how welcome he made me feel. I came in to just grab food to go back to my AirBnB, but he was like "Cool man, want a drink while you wait?" Coincidentally, I did. Then I asked about their chips and salsas and he gladly volunteered to get me some while I waited for my tacos. This is a simple review. Been here a bunch of times. Always fun and informative servers. Simple menu, quality food, and reasonable prices. We love love love the decor here, so focused and makes you look around the whole time you are there, I mean how cool is it to have a skeleton wearing a sombrero riding a bike above your head while you eat tacos? The tacos are great sizes and portions for the price. I love the beef, pineapple slaw, and chipotle honey glaze especially!! They also have fun hot sauces on a shelf on the wall so ask for those or go walk up and grab something fun. They have a few different ways to order your tacos, one you can order off their suggested list or you can build you own. They also have brunch list as well and the tacos are very inexpensive so you can order a few. We ordered: Strawberry goat cheese guacamole with a balsamic reduction. This had great creamyness and texture. It was just a tad to sweet for my taste. But I did eat the whole thing. Smoked salmon brunch taco (caper & scallion cream cheese, chopped egg, red onion, dill crema and everything bagel spice). Fantastic what a great take on bagel & Lox. Chicken & Waffle taco (orange-thyme waffle battered chicken, collard greens, bacon and bourbon cinnamon maple glaze). For some reason these flavors just did not work for me. At first bite it tasted like the bottom of a fire pit. Then we built our own tacos One was their stoner tortilla (soft flour tortilla layered with queso & chorizzo and topped with a hard corn tortilla). Filled with Coca-Cola marinated steak, smoked cheddar, cilantro, onions, corn & pepper salsa and a cilantro crema). The steak was absolutely pheonomimal. Don't get me wrong the whole thing was spectacular but that steak. Wow! Next was Green Goddess tortilla (soft and hard shell with queso & guac center). Ordered delivery from door dash tonight, one taco and the tres amigos which is $16 just for tres amigos. Plus a side of guacamole and dirty sauce. Driver shows up with a small bag with just my taco and the guacamole and dirty sauce. So $16 plus tax of food missing but the receipt shows clearly I ordered it. This is the 3rd time this has happened. If you're too busy don't take food delivery services when people now have to wait 3-10 business days for a refund of $16 plus tax. Great place to stop at for a bite. Started off with happy hour margaritas which were a 9/10 and some chips and salsa with queso. Salsa had a good smokey taste and crunchy tortilla chips. Then ordered three different tacos. Every one of them were tasty in their own. One had pickled jalapenos which was an excellent (not hot) soother after the chorizo favorite of the three. Stopped by Barrio for lunch with the wife. Prior to our visit, I had only tasted Barrio tacos out of their food truck. Since I love tacos, this place was high on my 'to try' list. We were promptly seated and our tattooed waitress took our drink orders. We shared a pitcher of sangria, which we both loved, and some chips and salsa. First, I ordered a build-your-own chicken taco on a Green Goddess tortilla. I topped it with tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and salsa verde. Then I ordered two additional tacos from the menu, the El Jefe and the El Puerco. A little while later, the tacos were delivered. They were larger than I expected and I knew I probably would have a hard time finishing all three, plus chips and salsa. I ate my custom built taco first and it wasn't very good. Actually, it was cold and bad. It was very watery from the veggies and it was gushing onto my other tacos. The cold salsa verde was my least favorite topping. It really lacked flavor and had weird texture. I was really disappointed with my taco. However, the other two were actually very tasty. So if you don't know the flavors, go with a taco from the menu! I would give these tacos props for being big, filling, and of great quality, but they're definitely not the best tasting tacos I've eaten. I want to stop back and try some more just to be sure though. Service was very good and the atmosphere was very nice in an old house. Can't wait to go back! read more

Gluten free and vegan options are available too. They serve fresh chips and salsa when you get to your seat. The margs are not too shabby either! So good. We go here all the time and simply love it. The food is fresh and so reasonable and because it's so well priced, you can essentially stuff yourself with various tacos and queso. They have feature tacos of the month and also feature queso of the Month as well. When we went recently there was a mushroom and onion queso that was incredible. The bar scene here in Tremont is great , but he warned that this Barrio is super small and gets sooooo crowded. The line can be two hours at times and for me, no taco is worth that. Now that the patio is running, it's way easier and the lines are non existent. As for the drinks.... yum. They have a great selection of artisan margaritas and some great craft brews. Northeast Ohio is obsessed with Barrio. After several years of trips to various locations a trip to Barrio is like flipping a coin. Heads: Your wait for a table will be short. You'll have some amazing guacamole and margaritas. The tacos have interesting flavors, and can build some really interesting combinations. El Jeff's selections are always reliable if you can't figure out a combination. Beware the tacos can get pretty messy. Tails: You're going to wait 45 minutes for a table, and 45 minutes for cold tacos. The margaritas and guacamole have always been reliable for me to get when I couldn't persuade guests to check out something different but those even gone downhill since reopening. read more

Not sure what's going on but the last few times I've been in it's been awful. Only 6 tables in the entire place and yet it took 10 min for our server to come over. Same person that sat us so they clearly knew they had a table. Asked for Rita with no slat, drink arrived with salt. Asked for it to be fixed. When return 1 min later you could taste the salt which means all he did was pour it into a new glass. It was disgusting. Ordered 4 tacos that took over 30 min to arrive and 2 were made incorrectly. Then took a while for the check. Such a let down considering how much we love this place usually. This is the 2nd time they've done this with my drink as well which is just unacceptable! Awful service. They must be having a terrible night. From the rude hostess to be told we would be sat within an half hour (it was over an hour and it was not that busy. People who came in before us were sat. It was out "buzzer" that was broken. Ordered our tacos and everything was wrong. Put gluten free corn tortillas for an allergy; spoke to our waiter about it. I came to Barrio for the first time today and had a great experience! Even though I am from California, I hardly ever eat tacos (I can probably count the number of times I've had tacos on my fingers...), but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Barrio! When we arrived around 6:30 pm, we were told the wait would probably be 30 to 45 minutes but I think we ended up waiting less than 20 minutes before we were seated so that was a nice surprise :) Our server Samantha was super patient with us (particularly with my indecision about what to order haha) and helpful in giving recommendations! My friend and I ended up building our own tacos. We also ordered the Vandermill hard cider and blood orange margarita. Even though I basically just randomly checked off ingredients to go into my taco, the tacos I had turned out to be full of flavor and very satisfying. I ordered a chicken taco, as well as a portobello mushroom one. Their blood orange margarita is also delicious! It was sweet (but not too sweet), refreshing, and tangy. I didn't think 2 tacos would be that filling, but with the chips and salsa before the tacos and the generous portion of the tacos, I was quite full by the end of the meal! I appreciated that Samantha checked in with us a couple times to make sure we were enjoying the food and even offered to refill our chips for us towards the end of our meal. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my first visit to Barrio, and I'd like to come back in the future for happy hour! Happy hour specials include half off margaritas, $1 off drafts, and $1 off tacos, but FYI this is only if you sit in the bar area. Happy hour or not, the delicious food and great service make Barrio definitely a place worth checking out. Tuesday night around 6:30 went to Barrios for dinner, no wait and lots of empty tables. Hostess was less than friendly and very serious, we were seated outside on their large patio and waited for a server and waited and waited some more. We had no water and no chips so it was obvious we didn't have a server yet, I finally tried to get the other waiters attention but they wouldn't look around, I finally got the hostess's attention when she seated a table near us, and again no apology she said oh, I'll get someone and she approached a server, had a short conversation and then the server walked back inside and was gone for a few min. That was the time to immediately run over and apologize as the hostess knew how long we had been waiting and watching others being served that had come in after us. We got up and started walking out and the server was finally walking towards us, she asked if we were moving inside, we said no we're out of here. At that point she said "oh I didn't know I was sat" To late, went around the corner and had dinner, no excuse for servers, bussers, hostess, etc not looking around and making eye contact with guests to know what's going on in the dining room/patio, there's no excuse for customers to sit for 15 min. without figuring it out. read more

I wanted to love this place because I've heard so many good things. But honestly the two tacos I had were not that good. By no means was it disgusting, I just wouldn't order them again. I like the idea of building your own taco in theory, but when you don't know how the sauces, salsas, and meats are flavored, its hard to pair them on your own. The premade choices were also mostly listed as spicy. I know people like spicy and that's fine, but I don't, and the one or two non spicy options were not that appealing. We also sat inside because we didn't want to wait for an outdoor table, and I regretted that. It was way too dark inside. I'm not a vampire. The extra wait for a patio table would have been worth it. This is the worst barrio I have ever been to in my life. First, the service is terrible. I did visit on a busy night, but still. I never got a refill on my water. Also, my server, Steven, never even gave me a full glass of water to begin with. He gave me a half full glass and said "I dont know how that happened". Next, they got my order wrong. I ordered two bombshells and did not receive any. It took a lot of explaining to my server for him to finally realize that my order was wrong. He kept coming back saying that he would give me more water, but nothing. When we got the water nearly 20 minutes later, it was not even filled! Wish I had a better experience. This is the first time I ate at a Barrio (in Tremont). I've been looking forward to it for a long time. I enter, and the staff just kind of looks at me and says, "Hi". I have to ask if I am supposed to just take a table, or wait to be seated, and then they tell me I can sit anywhere. Having never been there before, I don't quite understand the way the menu works. You have to select all of the items yourself, or so it seems at the time. I'm not too crazy about that, because I don't really know what goes with what, but I'll give it a try and check off some boxes and circles and try to make my tacos the best they can be. I wait for a while as the bartender and one of the staff members chat, and finally I interrupt them by smiling and saying, "Excuse me, I'm ready to order." I give them the card... ...After a reasonable amount of time...my food arrives. I don't care for any of the tacos I ordered. It really wasn't a great combination, but I really didn't know what to put into them. Only then I realized there is another piece of paper that has, "El Jefe's Selecciones". Wish I knew that before I ordered! I would have picked something from that menu where the tacos are already made with the selections done for you. It was too late. I then asked if there was any hot sauce I can have. I was told, "On the wall," where there is a rack of bottles that everybody uses with their dirty hands which is kind of unsanitary. Especially, considering we are eating tacos which you eat with your hands. I eat, and not once did anyone asked if I would like a refill of my beverage, or if I would like to order anything else. When my meal is completed, no one asks how was everything, or anything like that. A recommendation is that, first of all, the staff greet you warmly and explain the process. they can at least ask if you've ever eaten there before, and if you haven't, explain the different options. I didn't care for spending $20 on food that I didn't enjoy. Secondly, I think the hot sauce bottle rack is kind of gross, and they should either serve it in individual cups on the side, or packets. They should also ask how everything was, if I wanted a refill of my beverage, regular questions like this that I would think are obvious. I really wanted to enjoy this place. I'm going to email their headquarters and see if they reply, and if so, what to do about my experience. If they make it right, I'll give it another shot. If they do nothing, I'll have a hard time going back. ***UPDATE*** I just spoke to the manager, and she did make it right, so I will return. read more

Or if you're indecisive, choose from some pre-made Barrio creations. The order form is long, which is nice. It's great to have options (proteins, cheeses, vegetables, types of tortilla, sauces etc). It gets very messy. This place's popularity has caught on and has expanded to Lakewood, downtown, Progressive field and I hear coming to Cleveland Heights as well. No other place like this (it's like the Happy Dog of tacos). And reasonably priced ($3 each), I get pretty satisfied with 2 tacos. I always go to the Tremont Barrio, so parking is on the street, good luck. Plus this place is cool AF so expect a wait. But, definitely worth the wait. I came here with a bunch of friends after reading the amazing reviews they have on yelp and we were pleasantly surprised. Located in Tremont, this is a hidden gem. I have a huge liking for bars like these. The detailed review is as follows: Parking: they do not have a dedicated parking lot but there is a lot of street parking nearby. I was able to find a spot in under 5 minutes of my arrival. Seating: they have indoor as well as outdoor seating avatars the wait time can depend on the crowd. This place is pretty occupied so you may have to wait for some time. We had to wait for about 20 minutes to get a table in the outdoor seating area but we did not mind as they had pretty good seasonal beer on offer. Decor: the decor is cozy. Service : the service is pretty quick. You have to wait for good food. Food: they specialize in tacos and you can get your tacos customized to your liking. There are a lot of options to choose from. Drinks: they have the largest selection of tequilas of all the places I've been to. Value for money: the prices are extremely reasonable and will not burn a hole in your wallet. Love Barrio and was super excited when they came out with an app because ordering multiple build your own tacos with a phone call is really challenging. However the service of how they manage app orders is hit or miss (and generally a miss). Whenever I order on the app I purposely show up 10 minutes after they say my order will be ready to give them some cushion because I've learned it's never ready in 15. Even with this 10 minute cushion 3/4 times when I show up the food still isn't ready and I am generally told it will be 15 minutes. Doesn't seem like anyone is managing this ordering system.
