A cozy Italian restaurant in a little yellow house. The dining area was dimly lit and intimate and the service was impeccable. The food was very memorable and unique and this was a great anniversary spot! We were greeted and led up stairs to the indoor dining area which was lit by mostly candle light. Bread and olive oil was brought out shortly after taking our seats and we started checking out the menu. I had a good idea of what I wanted to try and when it was time to order, we were asked to place appetizer and entrée orders at the same time. We were also able to select a glass of wine while our food was prepared. The tuna tartare dish came out first and was beautifully plated. The tuna was soft and flavorful - practically melted in your mouth. The flavors went together perfectly. Our pasta dishes came out next - squid ink pasta with huge pieces of lobster and the beet pasta with quail ragu and cheesy fondue sauce. These two dishes were excellent and quite different from each other. My wife and I kept trying to figure out which one we liked best - impossible. Everything was skillfully prepared and the flavors were phenomenal. Our table was cleared and we were offered dessert, which we had no room for. Ufff this was rough. To start, I am almost sure our waiter was drunk:) It was really difficult to get his attention. We asked for scallops - they were out of them. We asked for tuna tartar - they were out of them. We asked for some italian bread for the table - they were out of bread. So we had to just eat pasta. I wanted to get spaghetti, but I was told they didn't have it. Pasta I ordered was overcooked, but my partner was kind to switch with me, so at least that was nice. The signature dish is the red beet pasta with quail ragu. I'm of Italian descent and have tried unique dishes over my many years on this earth, but have to say this was a first for me and I was very impressed! Came here last night and loved everything! It's a cute yellow building slightly hidden further down Main street. Valet is $10 but we found street parking. There's plenty of outdoor seating but we were taken upstairs and seated by the window. The lighting is dim and just makes you feel so cozy and secluded. They don't have a huge menu but sometimes less is more, yaknow? We started off with the watercress salad (super unique and flavorful, perfect way to kick off the meal), beet taglioni pasta (my ABSOLUTE FAVE, this is a must have), blank ink linguine (prob our least fave, the chunky lobster pieces overpowered the mushroom), a bottle of 2019 Chianti classic, and concluded with the hazelnut dessert. We ordered the scallops (Capasante alla Griglia con Fonduta) and red beet pasta (Tagliolini Rossi con Ragu di Quaglia in Fonduta di Taleggio) per our servers recommendations, plus the the squid ink pasta (Linguine Nere all' Aragosta con Funghi di Selva) and rabbit ragu pasta (Pappardelle con Ragu' di Coniglio Prugne e Porcini). Honestly, the rabbit pappardelle was my favorite because it best suited my tastes (not too overwhelming, and the sweetness from the prunes offset the tongue-cloying richness). Every dish we ordered was decadent, but the red beet pasta especially so. In my opinion, the richness of the cheese was too much. I'd be interested in trying the cacao tagliatelle, but the location plus the price of valet parking ($10) was a bit too much for me to warrant returning anytime soon. My cousin and I came here and had an excellent meal at Barrique. I was visiting from out of town and was unfamiliar with this establishment. It's within walking distance of my cousins place so I thought it was just a neighborhood restaurant. Barrique is a quaint establishment in a building that was probably converted from an old house. Service was extremely attentive and friendly. We started off with beers but then went with the wine recommendations during dinner which were fantastic. I had the wild boar ragu and my cousin had the ribeye. We also ordered the scallops and the prosciutto appetizers and mixed and matched. My husband had been to Barrique on another occasion and recommended it as a great Italian restaurant. We made a reservation online about a week before and then came. We were seated immediately at our reservation time, which was about 6pm on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is small, and the layout of it is a little bit strange. They have outdoor courtyard and indoor restaurant seating on the ground floor, then there is also a section with both indoor and outdoor seating upstairs. The courtyard seating was lovely, and the weather permitted us to be able to sit outside comfortably. They had heaters, but some people will probably also need to wear jackets if eating outdoors. For starters, we shared the grilled octopus and green beans. This was tasty, but not amazing. I remember thinking that the elements in this dish didn't seem like they complemented one another. The pastas were better than the appetizer. I had the squid ink linguine, while my husband had the pappardelle with rabbit ragu. Both were delicious, but I preferred the pappardelle even though I eat pescatarian most of the time. They also had a cacao tagliatelle that I really wanted to try but opted not to on this occasion as it contained meat. My husband also couldn't go past ordering the panna cotta for dessert. I thought this was good but panna cotta is not my favorite dessert. My husband loved it and scarfed it down though. The ambience here is classic and romantic. The service was efficient, and we had no complaints about anything whatsoever. This is a nice restaurant to come to if you're craving Italian in the Venice area, and it doesn't seem to be difficult to get a seat here. read more

During this pandemic, we still support you, only at home where we enjoy the entire menu. I quite like this place for multiple reasons but have to leave a very specific negative review. I have never felt more rushed in my life at a restaurant the last few times I've been here. The waitress gave us 2 mins after sitting to ask us what we wanted to eat, when we said we were still looking gave us 2 more minutes before she came back. The busboys were there waiting to take my girlfriend's plate before the last bite was being put in her mouth. Food was very good but our duck somehow came out medium even though we requested it to be cooked rare :( Bizarre since the waiter responded to my request with, "Of course, we always prepare it rare!" This place is super unassuming. I made reservations here for my wife's birthday dinner after reviewing the Yelp reviews. We arrived right on time and we're seated promptly. After reviewing the menu and hearing the specials we went with the Pullipo, the Tonno and the Red Beet pasta. The food was incredibly delicious. The tonno (tuna tartar) was perfectly balanced with capers, tuna and sauce - the tuna was super fresh and melted in our mouths! The octopus was delicious served on a bed of salad. The octopus was prepared perfectly and grilled to perfection; like the tuna it melted in our mouth and was not even remotely chewy like Octopus can be. Lastly the Red Beet Pasta with Quail Ragú was delicious and unique. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was so rich and flavorful with the ground quail. There are a few reasons for a four star review vs a five star review. 1) I've never walked out of a restaurant still hungry after dropping nearly $100 on a meal (no alcohol) - as my wife said, "it's delicious but don't come with an appetite" 2) this was a minor annoyance, but it irked me. Overheard the host ask another guest if they were celebrating a special occasion, but they didn't bother to ask us and we were there to celebrate a birthday. Again. Minor, but annoying. What a lovely experience. I have to say, I was hesitant because I don't eat most the seafood and meats on the menu (quail, rabbit, octopus, etc) so I was worried about having options. For appetizers, 4 people shared the tuna tartar, watercress salad, and burrata. The watercress salad was the stunner. Unfortunately they couldn't really sub the prosciutto with the burrata for bread but they did put it on arugula. It is one of those places you have to pay for the bread basket and bread wasn't really anything fresh/warm/spectacular so I would just order the apps and mains. Each app was $20 ish. The mains were the most wowing, the pacherri pasta was mind blowing- cooked Al dented with eggplant, I would 100% return for this. Also, thanks to the yelpies out there, I got the beet pasta and replaced the protein part for mushrooms and it was also tasty. Each pasta was $25-30 ish. The sea bass was also the star of show ($39 ish). They have quite an extensive wine list but we did wine by the glass, and I appreciate how they let us try 2 before choosing. ?via allorgno was fantastic. Had an extremely poor experience here. Went for my five year anniversary with my boyfriend. We made reservations for 7:30 and showed up at 7:25. We had to wait outside for over an hour. We weren't offered apologies, but were offered drink menus to pay for our own wine numerous times. When we were finally seated at 8:35 (65 minutes after our reservation time), we were given a tiny table at the top of the stairs, with no option of moving elsewhere. A better, larger table was given to guests who arrived 45 minutes after us within thirty seconds of sitting down. No apologies were given to us by the hostess, server, or managers. Ate here over the weekend and it did not disappoint. We ordered the buffalo mozarella caprese 10/10. The mozarella was amazing. We also got the scallop appetizer, highly recommend. I went with the eggplant pasta, which was so good. It was fresh, light, flavorful. My boyfriend got the tagliatelle bolognese special, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant has a great vibe. Very intimate and great for a date. Our server knew the menu well and guided us when we had some questions. The only thing we didn't care for was the ricotta cheesecake. A little too heavy and dry for us but we will def continue exploring the dessert menu. If we could change one thing, spirits on the drink menu. Came here initially because of DineLA. But we decided to order a la carte instead since the DineLA deal wasn't worth it. We were able to try most things from the menu, overall pretty decent food. A little pricey but to be expected from this place. Spent about $400 for 5 people. Location seems to be in a house setting and the ambience lightning was very dark since the only light source at each table was one singular stick of candle. It's no surprise as to why the Red Beet Pasta in quail Ragu is one of their favorites it was absolutely amazing. 10/10 We also ordered the Boar Ragu Pasta. Pretty good, well cooked, textures were pretty on point. Slightly lost out to the red beet pasta. 9/10 The ribeye was cooked a perfect medium rare but lacked flavor. Meh would not order again. Branzino was okay not the best but decent 7/10. Highlights for me was the desserts. We literally got one of everything. Favorites are the Crema and the Tronchetto. Absolutely amazing stuff would definitely order these again. 10/10. Parking situation was either street park or valet. FOOD: Paccheri alla Norma (5/5) - The pasta was really good, but it was the only vegetarian pasta which was disappointing for my friend, who felt like she had very limited options on the menu as a vegetarian. However, the dish did not disappoint. She said it had a very good, tomato-infused flavor and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Having lived in Italy for a number of months, she was also impressed that the restaurant as a whole felt authentically Italian. Quail ragu (5/5) - Of course, how could we not get the signature dish? This pasta was unique and unlike anything I've ever tasted. The tender beet pasta is covered in a sticky, light sauce that first hits a little sweet then ends on a savory note. The quail meat was good as well, though some bites were a little dry. The fondue sauce was definitely the star of this pasta, and the dish overall lives up to the hype. Rabbit ragu tagliatelle (5/5) - I actually think this was my favorite dish of the night. The long, wide pasta tasted impossibly fresh and perfectly al dente. The rabbit meat was soft, tender, and perfectly seasoned as well, and the sauce was super unique and savory. This may be one of the best pasta dishes that I've ever had. Panna cotta (4/5) - The sauce was amazing, but the panna cotta itself was a little bit too sweet.
