We LOVE. Bascoms. Every time we come this is one of the VERY few restarants that show consistency with food and service, which is a 5 star!! Tonight..we enjoyed the burrata caprese, wedge salad (modified) and shrimp cocktail. Followed by a ribeye with lobster tail and shrimp scampi..The burrata on the caprese is simply outstanding. Delicate and light truffle flavor along with perfectly sliced tomatoes. The ribeye and lobster tail....perfectly prepared..the shrimp scampi..as always, had perfectly seasoned shrimp and pasta. If you are looking for a super, fabulous place to go on a date night or to impress a business guest, this is the place to come. This has become our only "date night place" because Bascoms is consistent and does it right each and every time!! Terrible first experience. You expect more for a $170 tab. My husband and I both ordered the filet minion, with an add on lobster tail. We also ordered the Gouda Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes for sides. When the food came out, we only got our steaks and lobster tails. I ordered my steak medium and it was well done. The waiter happily send it back to get me a new steak. My lobster was cooked perfect, while my husband's lobster was mushy and underdone. At the same time we asked where our sides were that we ordered. The waiter came out with Mac and cheese and Spinach. The Mac and cheese was cold and we did not order spinach. Finally, I get my steak and our correct side dishes. The manager came over and said "I'm sorry for all the mix ups tonight" and then stood there in silence. $170 tab and nothing was correct! Very poor management. I'm sure if we were an older couple like everyone else in there, we would've had our meal comped. If it wasn't for the waiter who did an amazing job trying to make up for all of the kitchens mistakes, I would've given a one star review. read more

Our second time here and the 3 star is the same as our first visit. The restaurant was not very busy and they wanted to put us in a back room, in the corner, facing a wall. I guess we were not dressed expensively enough? We requested to be reseated in the bar area. It took awhile for a server to arrive, We both ordered steaks, my filet meduim rare, my partner's rib eye well done. The steaks arrived completely backwards, so we sent them both back to be redone. New steaks arrived done correctly, but now with cold baked potatoes. We got the dirty looks when we requested new, hot potatoes and by the time they finally arrived, we had almost finished our meals. Very good but has a ways to go to obtain five stars. Steak was very good; ordered medium rare and came out more on the rare side. Quality of the meat was very good though. Was kind of lame that it's a la carte; was hoping for at least a baked potato to be included with a semi-pricey filet. Grand margarita was decent but far from the $10 price tag. However, what made this review four stars instead of three stars was the dessert. Chocolate torte was absolutely amazing. Smooth, rich, flawless. Last night some dear friends wanted to go to a fancy place just before thanksgiving to celebrate my upcoming birthday, so they took us here. We had such a great time the Food was excellent as usual. We all had the 8 oz Filet Migon Weekend Special for 27.95 includes a Salad and main meal. My husband had on the weekend Special too a 10 Oz Prime Rib. It was huge. We all had a great time. I really enjoyed my entire meal plus my large oversized piece of Home-made Cheesecake.. I told Craig our waiter we will be back in 3 weeks with a group of people in the banquet room. Great selection of wines (and easy to see on the iPad). I also go the special grilled calamari mediterranean dish. It was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. I ordered the Grouper which was claimed by the waiter to be the best seafood dish and the most fresh and to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. The saud on top was very salty and the rice was very bland. I thought the appetizers, salad and bread were much better prepared. Absolute best experience from the moment we walked in. The hostess was prompt to greet and seat us (roughly 5:45) and waitress spoke very clearly, thoroughly explained the menu and options. Ordered three appetizers, all of which came out quickly and as ordered. The main course was PERFECT and the desert, amazing. As for what I ate; spinach and artichoke dip, 16oz NY strip, and Belgium chocolate cake. Don't be mislead by stand out restaurant in it's box store location at the end of the St Pete/Clearwater airport runways. This classy trendy restaurant is just what you want for that special night out, business meal, date night, trying to impress someone or just any time you want an upscale dining experience. The decor is soft & comfortable. The bar is well stocked w/selections of good spirits, beers & wines. Once seated your server greets you and hands you an iPad to search the drink, beer & wines (fun stuff for techies). There is no asking for water & fresh warm rolls. They have a nice selection of appetizers (calamari was very good as are the escargot), salads (blue cheese crumble wedge) and steaks & chops. Each evening offers at least 2 specials. On Fri/Sat evenings they have a wonderful 8/oz filet special w/potato choices & salad for $21.95 This is a great deal. The desert selection is a good way to round of this meal. A gentleman at the table next to me had the T Bone that looked so good I know what I'm getting on my next visit. This my friends is what good dining out is all about. read more

I had very high hopes for this place. I drive by everyday and decided this is the place to take my girlfriend for Valentine's Day. Needless to say I was disappointed. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that being it was V-Day the wait for food would be long. No problem. I have to say though the service was not good and after waiting for an hour and forty five minutes for my steak I thought it would be amazing. It wasn't. I asked for it medium. The outside was burnt and the middle more medium well. However I still would give this place another try on a less busy night of the year. I feel as though we didn't receive there best.
