Soggy and cheese slips off like water. Salsiccia pizza. Void of any skill in making it.

We ordered the Salcissia pizza. Absolutely terrible pizza. Very soggy. The cheese just slips off like water. The sausage barely cooked feels like they were microwaved hot dog slices. Mind you we live VERY close and I walked over and picked it up myself so it's not like we ate it late. It was hot. How do you ruin pizza this bad? Trader Joes frozen section got it better. We haven't ordered from here in several months because we did not like their pasta. We thought why not just have their pizza how can someone screw up pizza like this? The person behind the counter making the pizza needs to be seriously trained at making them. Will jot order from here again. At least not for sometime till we start reading some more positive things.

Prior to going to a show, a couple of friends and I stopped for a bite to eat locally. Found this place on Yelp and since it was steps away from the venue, we decided to dip in. The staff seated us quickly. Yet literally no other patron in the place other than one man eating a slice. Staff were friendly and kind. We ordered pizza and a Caprese salad. One friend had an eggplant pizza, another a meat one and I had a Margherita. The pizza was good, I just wish it was hot. My friends eggplant pizza came with ricotta instead of mozzarella & she sent it back to get mozzarella on it but they only added it on top of the ricotta. She doesn't mind ricotta but not necessarily on her pizza. I am not a fan of ricotta at all, so I would've been deeply unhappy. The Caprese salad was delicious but we were looking for lettuce to be added with it. There was none. The atmosphere of the place was chill, more like upscale casual dining. I'd say it's a cool local spot for the neighborhood. I enjoyed the rustic interior.

We were in the neighborhood and wanted to try out some good brick oven pizza. We weren't going too crazy just a little meal before meeting up with friends. We had the arugula and Gorgonzola salad which had a great dressing and plenty of cheese with candied walnuts. We ordered the margarita salad and the eggplant which had a nice chewy crust with a crispy outside. The red sauce has great flavor. Why they didn't get 5-stars: the eggplant and garlic on the pizza were barely cooked and they should be nice and soft. No one likes hard garlic!

A quick stop for fuel before a festival. My friend and I enjoyed a few appetizers and a bottle of wine at the very cute Astoria spot. I had the meatball sliders, Calamarata Pasta and the calamari. Everything was delicious.

Ooowwwweee, met up with my brother yesterday in my old stomping grounds and was happy to check this new pizza spot my brother put me on to. I been craving brick oven pizza and since moving to Long Island, I'm not too familiar with Brick oven places here on the Island. I'm a big fan of milk flower on 31st ave but my brother recommended this place, so I had a try it. Parking is a nightmare in the area, but they have valet parking next door. I tried to find free parking, but their was nothing, do valet it was. This restaurant is is very nice and there's a few table in the front but leads into the back we're it's very nice. The staff here is very accommodating and very sweet. Great vibes and great spot to switch to try a different buck over pizza spot. For apps we went with calamari and it was 10/10! Cooked to perfection and very flavorful. For pizza now we got a margarita pie, Gabriel pie which was like homemade meatballs n onions and we got another pie that had bacon on it with onions. All 3 pizza's were amazing and I'm very happy I switched it up and tried a new brick oven spot. This spot is right of the N line of Astoria Blvd and easy accessible via train. I highly recommend this place if your looking for brick oven or even to try s new place. Astoria has their fair share of places, but a lot are nothing special. This place also offers amazing pasta dishes and specials for the day, so it's just not pizza. Definitely check them out if your in the area or craving brick oven pizza. I have been coming here for years. I mostly order for delivery. I am never disappointed, and the food is always delicious. Today there was a glitch with the app I ordered from and my delivery was delayed. I called and they made it right, made sure pizza was fresh and hot and delivered it right away. I was very thankful and appreciated it so much. Thank you Basil, you are the best!

This place saved my sanity during covid! I would order from them every Friday and they never ceased to deliver! (Pun intended). It's my most favorite Neapolitan style pizza in the continental USA. I almost always order the diavola pizza and it's the yummiest pizza you will ever try, with airy, pillowy dough and fresh ingredients, just spicy enough sopressata. The restaurant itself is a white tablecloth place, and looks less casual than it actually is. The menu is extensive. On apps, the calamari is amazing and you can never go wrong with their tiramisu. Always a staple when in Astoria and in the mood for Italian, especially pizza!

Capricciosa Pizza and Speck and Brie Pizza

Coronavirus Diary Day 405 - 4/23/2021 I finally got my first shot of covid-19 vaccine!!!! So in order to celebrate that, we splurged ourselves on some pizzas. We ordered two 12" pizzas from Basil Brick Oven Pizza. The first pie was Speck & Brie (Smoked Prosciutto, Brie, Parmigiano Reggiano, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Basil - $17), and the other one was Capricciosa (Tomato Sauce, Homemade Fresh Mozzarella, Prosciutto Cotto, Artichokes, Mushrooms, Black Olives, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Basil - $17). They were small and pricey, but packed a punch! I really enjoyed both pizzas! The speck went really well with Brie -- talk about "less is more! " I loved artichokes and mushrooms on Capricciosa as well!

I've been coming to Milkflower for literal years and everyone here has consistently been so accommodating and attentive to my partner's vegetarian restriction. Today we were done working early and called at 3:30 to ask what time the lunch special (salad and a pie for $18) ran until. The woman who picked up said it ran until 5. We arrived just after 4. Once seated we asked again about the special - she confirmed it was still running and let us know that the salad was currently a Caesar salad. When we asked about the salad dressing, she told us it was vegetarian. The problem? It contained anchovies (the name of the dressing is lemon anchovy, printed on the menu). Even more concerning, our server appeared not to know what an anchovy was. For anyone with dietary restrictions, that's not a minor oversight -- it's a serious issue. If staff members are answering questions about ingredients, they should have a basic understanding of what's actually in the food they're serving. She went on to say there were no actual anchovies in it, that it was "just the name of the dressing." She again insisted there were no anchovies in it. When I pressed her further, she finally admitted that anchovies are blended into it. Again, I explained that means this dressing is not vegetarian, as literal fish are in it -- whether whole or blended, the dressing contains fish. When we explained the issue and asked about alternatives, none were offered. Not a different dressing, not a simple olive oil option, nothing. The complete lack of flexibility or effort to accommodate a reasonable dietary request was astonishing. She continued to offer the dressing on the side to my partner, which he cannot eat. 15 minutes later after ordering the salad with no dressing, the waitress came to our table to tell us the lunch special had actually ended at 4. We told her we called ahead and the woman we spoke to (presumably her since no one else was working, and since she herself believed it was still running when she sat us) said 5. There was no apology, no accommodation, no attempt to honor what we had been told over the phone -- just a shrug. For a restaurant that values customer service, especially for repeat customers, this was incredibly frustrating. We left without eating here. Mistakes happen. Phones get miscommunicated. Staff don't always have every answer. What made this experience so disappointing was the total absence of customer service at every step. We were given incorrect information, served misleading ingredient information, denied any reasonable accommodation, and offered no solution despite being loyal customers. Milkflower has always relied on its neighborhood reputation, but experiences like this make it difficult to justify returning. There are too many restaurants that value their customers and take dietary concerns seriously to settle for this level of indifference. If you have an actual food allergy (specifically seafood) please do your due diligence. If Milkflower management is reading this, please educate today's server that an anchovy is a fish, not just the name of a salad dressing, and that your lunch special ends at 4. Or hire a waitress who isn't so clueless.

Our server was very attentive, friendly, and on top of everything throughout the meal. No complaints there at all. As for the food, it was honestly very lackluster. The best thing we had all night was the small original pizza, which I actually really enjoyed. The crust and flavor on that were solid. Unfortunately, the spaghetti with marinara sauce was a huge disappointment. At $22 just for the pasta, plus an additional $4 for ONE meatball, I expected so much more. It ended up being a $26 plate of pasta that, in my opinion, had almost no flavor. I kept wanting seasoning, salt, garlic -- something to make it stand out. It was just very bland. My husband ordered the polenta starter with shiitake mushrooms and bolognese sauce, which was okay, but nothing memorable. For the three food items, one cappuccino, and a sparkling water, the bill came to about $110 with tip. For that price point, I expected to leave impressed, especially after hearing the hype. Sadly, this just wasn't a place I'd personally return to. I truly wanted to enjoy it more.
