We went to BCB for an office party, so this review is based on that. I've been here on my own, but it's been a very long time. I guess I'll have to remedy that soon. We had a nice space upstairs, just adjacent to one of the feather bowling lanes. The lunch setup was down the main hallway, near an upstairs bar. I'm glad I wasn't drinking, they were having some issues and it took a while for everyone to get served. The beer eventually flowed, but it was slow going. The food was all very good, from the chicken dish to the pasta, as well as the sides. I'm not sure I've ever seen a garden salad with orange slices in it, but I didn't get any, so I'm not going to complain. They had pitchers of pop and water, so I kept hydrated. There were only one or two servers that came around from time to time, I think they could have more at the start and then less so plates would get cleared a little more quickly. The feather bowling was great, everyone enjoyed it. We had a nice party, and it definitely made me want to come back and try the normal menu, especially the all-you-can-eat perch on whatever night it is. It was so hard decide what to order so we tried a few items. 1st the happy hr menu...the house made chips perfectly salted & the battered onion rings that were enough to share w 4 people but the 2 of us managed to smash them. Instead of entrees, I ordered steak bites & a half Mediterranean salad. O. M. G. I have no idea how that salad was HALF size because it was a big enough portion for 2 (pic shows no feta...I'm not a fan of cheese). The steak bites were amazing with a perfectly spiced cajun sauce & red peppers (no blue cheese..again, I don't like cheese..Ik...I'm "weird") My fiance ordered the mussels app (scampi style) & a half caesar salad. The mountain of mussels that came out was NOT "app sized"! Between his Mmmmm's & OMGs...I thought he was going to pick up the bowl & drink the broth until Nancy offered him more bread rolls to soak it up & just a few minutes later they came freshly out of the oven. I honestly don't think there's anything you can go wrong with on this menu. The ambiance is great, dim but not annoying where you can't see your food...oddly the feather bowling "thuds" are quite soothing. Omg the worst service and food I've ever had! Was at Emerald Theater for a dance recital than walked over with the family for dinner. Got a bad vibe right away...lighting, I hate dim restaurants! He took our order, my step son ordered a round (specifically) pizza...10 mins later waiter comes back "I forgot to ask, do you want round or square pizza"? Well we knew we were going to be there for awhile! The 10 oz steak shrunk to 6oz steak...$21, no salad tiny cold baked potato with greasy oleo, no butter! The pizza was so bad my stepson took one bite and pushed the whole thing aside, I asked for S&P....food was cold to begin with but now it's ice cubes because I had to finally get up to ask another waitress for S&P. Did I mention it was absolutely freezing in there? OK...one more thing....Sanders Hot Fudge cream puff on menu...yippee. ok so where's the SANDERS HOT FUDGE? If I wanted Hershey's hot fudge...well I wouldn't have ordered it, I wanted Sanders spacifically!!! Told the manager they needed to tell people they were getting a knock off hot fudge for $7, she said they had to use it because blah blah blah. Dropped by for brunch with some friends and found it very enjoyable. Place was somewhat empty on a Sunday afternoon. I had the Tuna melt and really enjoyed it, the apple walnut bread made the sandwich. The different textures and tastes were awesome. I have no problem recommending that to anyone. But the icy reception by the woman at the door put us off. We wanted to look at the feather bowling upstairs and were told no. There were only two or three tables with people there tonight. TWO PAGES OF MARTINIS! Yes, they offer up TWO pages of signature martinis! And let me just tell you--they are delicious. I spent the evening here a few weeks ago during a mixer to promote an upcoming flick "Crazy Stupid Love" and they had some great happy hour specials that included $5 martinis and 2 for 10 appetizers. GREAT deal! I had a hard time settling on a beverage since everything sounded amazing but in the end went with the Star Spangled Lemonade which not only tasted delicious (like sweet liquid jello) but it looked amazing--three layers of color (red, white and blue, natch!) all floating on one another. It looked so fancy I was sad to drink it. But of course I did and it was perfect. I was impressed. The appetizer I ordered was a taco tip of sorts which wasn't anything ground breaking but tasty indeed. I would love to come back here when I'm in the area again to enjoy some more eats from their menu. There were definitely a few things that caught my eye. Our server was a dream come true. Really lovely lady who was helpful without being overbearing. They were also incredibly accommodating for us as we set up the space with some goodies for the evening. The space is really lovely, lots of dark wood a nice fireplace on the inside with a nice little patio outside facing the fountain in the middle of the road. It's just so darn adorable in that downtown strip and Bath City Bistro has prime real estate! They also have a feather bowling court in an adjacent room to the main dining area. Food was horrid cold offerings burn bacon "we're know. For our Mac and cheese". We were told. Yeah because it's horrible. I have been here several times and have been happy each time. This is a great place for groups or for a date night. The menu prices are very reasonable and the portions are as equally reasonable. I somehow always end up ordering a martini and spinach salad. It is hard to stray from something so good. The last time I was here I ordered salmon on my salad. It was cooked well and added a lot of taste to my meal. The waiter was also very attentive and did a fine job. One quirky thing though. From the beginning we were promised a bread basket. Through out the whole meal he kept coming back saying it wasn't ready yet. It wasn't really necessary to have one, but it finally came out when we were pretty much done with our meal. The waiter seemed to feel so bad about it and I felt bad that he felt he had to take the heat for the slowski cooks in the back. I enjoy Bath City Bistro. It's got a great "upscale casual" atmosphere and servers that are pleasant to a fault. They have an extensive menu- I've never had one I didn't like- of *strong* martinis. They also have the best french onion soup in Metro Detroit. Unfortunately, the rest of their menu is average at best. Nothing is truly awful, but nothing is truly exceptional either. The cod provencal is incredibly salty, while the chicken and portobello alfredo is bland-bland-bland. Steaks are a safe choice here, as is the salmon. I'm also a fan of the mussel appetizer. I'd recommend Bath City as a post-date, dessert and drinks venue...maybe accompanying a round of feather bowling. The food is good enough, but for a special occasion, you can do better. read more

Bath City is intimidating from the outside; on my first visit, the plain building made me think it was either a super high-end restaurant, or a complete crap-hole. It's neither. It has a respectable menu. You're looking at about $7 for an appetizer, and between $10-20 for a dinner. I had the porterhouse last time I was there. It was cooked skillfully, but I would've liked more seasoning (but I always say that, because there's really no such thing as too much seasoning to me). Still, I've not had a steak in Mt. Clemens yet that can compete. The food is impressive, but the reason anyone comes here is the feather bowling. They have lanes on both levels of the restaurant. Even still, you may find yourself waiting a while for a lane if it's the weekend. Also, the price can get expensive - on the weekends it's about $30 an hour! So come with a bunch of people and split the tab (which is what I've always done, and it's a blast) or make sure it's a special occasion. Even though the name is super fancy, I wouldn't classify this place as swanky or anything...but it is pretty nice inside. Mt. Clemens was home to some of the more famous bath houses in America in the late 1800s. Mt. Clemens High School is also the home of the Battling Bathers. Bath City Bistro decided to base their image on the heritage of the city. It's pretty cool. A friend of mine turned 50 this year and he decided to celebrate this momentous occasion with a soiree at Bath City Bistro. He had the event catered by the Bistro. They provided pizza and salad. The pizza was pretty good. It was a 'light on the sauce' type of 'zza with a fairly fluffy crust. The sauce was sparsely laid on top of the cheese, which is not (in my humble opinion) where the sauce should go. That's a conversation for another social media outlet. I wonder if the Instatwitspacebox has an opinion on this issue. I did imbibe in some alcoholic beverages (responsibly, of course) in the form of craft brews. The Bistro had a pretty decent selection of bottled beers. Our party was located upstairs and there was a small bar up there. I didn't venture downstairs to the main bar to take in the selection of beers on tap. Judging from the beer menu, it didn't seem like there was a large selection. Bath City Bistro is one of very few locations in Michigan where you can partake in the sport of feather bowling. In Mt. Clemens, they play a variant to the game called Belgian Trough Bowling. The lanes are curved like a trough...go figure. From the Feather Bowling wiki: "the balls are rolled down a trough shaped dirt or synthetic alley towards a feather sticking out opposite ends of the lane. The object of the game is to get the ball as close to the feather as possible. Teams take turns rolling 12 balls (6 for each team) and may knock their opponent's balls out of the way, similar to Bocce. The team with balls closest to the feather at the end of the round wins 1 point per ball. The game is over when one team scores 10 points.". The game is truly a lot of fun. Overall, Bath City Bistro did not disappoint. The 50th birthday party was wonderful. The staff at this place was attentive and made sure that our area was kept neat and tidy. The staff was also extremely friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a great night out with a group of peeps, come here. It's a unique experience that's a lot of fun. We went here after being at the Macomb County Courthouse for our son's adoption finalization. We didn't make reservations and came in with a group of nine and they accomodated us without any hesitation. The food was okay. I've had better, but it wasn't terrible. I had read other Yelp reviews and wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. We got the fried asparagus appetizer and it was out of this world. The French Onion soup was strange and had a beer taste to it. I had the grilled cheese and only ate half because it wasn't very flavorful to me. We are very understanding about costs, the challenge with employees and the difficult times restaurants have been going through. Guess what???? All of those things have affected EVERY ONE of us! While we understand that businesses must raise prices here is what we are NO LONGER willing to accept - you have raised prices but cut out salads/ sides with your entrees and then to add an extra insult charged $5.00 for four half slices of bread!!! not even 4 whole slices. $1.25 for 1/2 slice of bread. There were ten of us in our group - three ordered the same chicken pasta dish. The difference in the servings was obvious - one had about four pieces of chicken. Another guest ordered a different pasta dish and had only a few pieces of chicken. Should have been fairly obvious to the kitchen. We are willing to pay the prices WHEN we receive a fair serving. I'd been to BCB many years ago. Maybe 10 years. My impression back then was "overpriced, underwhelming, inflated sense of value". I just recently went there for Mother's Day. Wasn't my pick, but I was hoping the years would change my impression. Nope. Their food is still AMAZINGLY overpriced. They seem to think they're fine dining with their prices, but their food doesn't reflect it in any way. It's not BAD, but it's food you'll find at any Applebee's-level restaurant. Nothing about it in any way shows any outstanding level of quality or uniqueness of menu. It's perfectly average food at astronomical prices. And for having such a high opinion of their good, the atmosphere sure doesn't show it. Looks like a sports bar, with feather bowling in the back room (think bocci ball, but you use curling kettles and aim for a feather). If you're gonna charge me $17-23 per plate, the place better LOOK high class too. If I want a sports bar atmosphere, Mt. Clemens has plenty of those to spare. Service was fine. Nothing remarkable to say in either the positive or negative directions. Again, for what they aspire to be (and price themselves as), I should expect it to be better than middle of the road. Went for Sunday Brunch and WHAT A DEAL! The food was absolutely delicious, and the value was outstanding! The ambiance was perfect for a Sunday brunch, and it wasn't overly crowded. They were accommodating for my grandmother in a wheelchair and ensured we were placed so she could access the buffet yet out of the way of traffic. Very happy with our visit! The brunch here is very good for the price (10$ American). The wait staff is friendly, but the server you receive will impact your experience, some seem better trained than other. We have been here three times, twice as a double digit party and the quality of the brunch fare is very consistent. Service was awful!! The host told us it was a 20 minute wait and we ended up waiting 45 minutes for a table. Once we finally sat down it took a while for a server to come to our table. We ordered soups right away with the intention of ordering a full meal. The soup took 30 more minutes to come at this point the server set the soup down and didn't take our order. Once she came to take our order, long after we finished our soup, we asked for the check instead of ordering food. We ended up sitting at the table for an hour just to eat a cup of soup. Most of the dishes I've tried at Bath City have been excellent! Salads, calzones, pizza, and various chicken dishes have all been well-prepared and delicious. The apps are too with the exception of the tempura shrimp. Fried in regular batter, not tempura, the mayo sauce didn't jibe. Portions are generous. The special German chicken dish they serve during the Mt. Clemens Oktoberfest is to DIE for! I'm torn between begging them on bended knee to add it to their regular menu, and being content to savor it as a special autumn treat. The atmosphere is festive, tasteful, and very pleasant. It's fun to catch glimpses of or yelps of joy from the feather bowlers in action as you dine. A good spot too for a nice date or catching up with friends, as they don't rush you. We will continue to go back to experience more of their tasty dishes. Their central Mt. Clemens location is perfect too, whether happening by or as a destination! read more

The lunch selection is very good, usually a smaller version of Dinner. The food has always been good here and they usually have a drink special every day of the week. I threw my wife a Surprise 30th Birthday Party here and overall we had a good time. Feather Bowling itself was fun, but challenging to get the hang of it. If you roll your wheel right down the center chances are it is going to pick up too much speed and momentum and end up in the back ditch area off of the lane. You had to angle the shot so it would slalom as it went down so it would lose speed and drop on the lane. The Service was so so and at times we kept finding ourselves going downstairs to the bar to get more drinks because our girl was no where to be found which was frustrating at times. Other than that she was good. I also opted to get an appetizer buffet as well as a veggie tray for everyone and if I had to do it all over again, I'd probably abstain. The appetizer buffet consisted of Onion Rings, Chicken Tenders, Wings, Cheese Stix and Mini Tacos and ran $90.00, but it probably cost them no more than $40.00 to make. They were all bulk frozen items you would get at Costco so they weren't anything special. The Cheese Stix were overcooked though and almost all of the cheese had melted out. There were maybe four or five that actually had cheese in them. All in all the place has a cool rustic feel to it and I'd like to go back and try their actual menu and to do some more Feather Bowling again. As far as a party place I am not sure. If they would allow outside food other than Cake or I was planning on going all out and choosing menu items and paying per plate I might reconsider. I would have much rather spent the $130.00 (the veggie tray was $40.00) on some Pizzas or something else though. read more

Just a quick update - after my dinner Saturday night - 2/8/14 - Food fantastic as usual. All 4 diners agree (2 had never been to BCB). Server was an enigma - very friendly and helpful (at first), but seemed distracted by (I think) large tables of "bridesmaids" or maybe just a bad day.....then lapsed into what another reviewer described as "sometimes disappeared for extended stretches: between courses, refills, or bill time." First time I've encountered this. Servers' focus on the customer is so important.....shouldn't have to wonder if I'll get a repeat of this episode.on my next visit.
