First, let me say this is not my first tub removal. I tear them out because I'm an epileptic and that tub lip is hazardous to epileptic health (falling hazard). Also, my husband and I never take a bath. My husband is 6' 5" and he hates climbing in and out of tubs to shower. Anyway, we contracted with a different firm, not Bath Fitters, for our Oakland house, and it was an absolute nightmare that took 3 months with the workers in a fistfight at a tile store, and the store had to call the police. The workers then dragged the argument to our house. Un-freaking-believable. Needless to say, that terror of a tub tear out has been stuck in my brain. We moved to Santa Cruz and I contracted with a high end local store here (remaining nameless to protect the guilty) who agreed to charge us $16,000 - $18,000 to tear out the tub and put in a tile shower. After several months, I finally emailed the salesperson a "what's up?" email and why can't we get this project going. She replied, "We don't have anyone to do your job?" Huh? What? Why? I went with them because their motto was "no job is too small." Why not just tell me from the beginning and save us all a bunch of time. Back to the drawing board, only even more desperate this time. Some friends of ours who own several properties came to visit us and suggested Bath Fitters. I'd never heard of them because I don't watch TV and promptly toss mail ads in the garbage. I researched them, and then called for an appointment. I signed up the day the salesman showed us the process. The install wait is about 6 weeks, and as the install date grew closer I grew more, and more nervous fueled by memories of the Oakland beatdown. Anyway, the installers came, and I blurted out "I'm so nervous" which didn't make sense to either one of them, but they told me not to be, which I thought was sweet and funny. They installed the shower in a day. One day. Less than half the price of the fancy smancy local place who wouldn't do my shower. The installers were so nice, informative and efficient. They knocked my cast iron tub out quickly with a minimum of fuss. Amazing. And the end product is wonderful. I waited a couple of weeks to do this review to make sure this was as good as it seems. It is. Guy and Juan were my installers and they are absolutely great. The shower is beautiful. I am so happy with the whole process, particularly with the end product and the skill of the installers. This is a scam. They came to do the installation estimate, I paid a deposit and was never contacted again. Now I'm disputing the charge with my Visa. This is a terrible company. Ordered a bath enclosure from them, put down a deposit, waited 8 weeks and they finally set up an installation date - they put it in writing. Never showed up - never answered phone calls. Finally got ahold of the salesman who sold the whole thing to me. He had no idea what was (or wasn't) going on. End result - Bathfitters got mad because I told them they owed my granddaughter a days pay because she took a day off from work to be there for the installation that never happened. They said they were cancelling the entire order and refunding my deposit - which i'll probably have to fight to get. Terrible terrible company! Avoid them at all costs! read more

Several years ago, Bath Fitter installed a bathtub insert in my condo bathroom. They did a fantastic job so when I needed another bathtub insert for an apt, I called again. They have a top team. Ken Huggins gave me estimate. The final install was done by super craftsman Ahmed. Kevin, the manager, made sure everything was satisfactory. I am very happy with the service and end result. Bruce you are not telling the truth I was never aggressive with your staff. I contacted Alameda county permit office and was informed that there's was no permit application for my address. That was 8 weeks after putting down my down payment. So if you did file for permit why did Alameda county have no record and you Staff could not and would not give me the permit number. So your are lying after 8 weeks you never filed for permit and never contacted my county. I contacted your corporations main office and absolutely no one could give me any permit applications number. And upon pressing the issue with your staff as it had been ten weeks and your staff still could not give me any info on my permit. They once again told me they could do the work without a permit. I said no I want it permitted and staff said we just gonna cancel. So if you can show me any evidence you filed for my permit when I put down my down payment I'll address this post. For this I went completely off of friend's recommendations and them sharing their own positive experiences. That was enough for me to give a call to Bath Fitters and schedule an appointment. From the first time I called and throughout the entire process, customer service and communication was top priority for this company. Ken, the salesman, has been so incredibly helpful throughout every step of the process. He is very knowledgeable and has delivered exactly what he promised. Not only did he answer all of my questions but he continued to follow up on my 2 projects. Chris, the scheduler at the Newark office has been equally responsive with all communication. He always calls back and texts immediately if I have any questions. I feel both of them are extremely dedicated to providing the best customer service experience and the best outcome for the project. They take the customer's goals seriously. Juan, the lead installer, is a highly skilled and hard-working professional. This was a challenging project on many levels and he completed it, not only perfectly, but right on schedule. Juan and his assistants were courteous and incredibly meticulous, making sure to put drop-downs and even blew out the garage and driveway before they left. I am so happy with the results and I encourage you if you're considering getting your shower or bathtub redone to give Bath Fitters a call because you will not be disappointed. We've shopped around and found their prices to be half of others. Price was right so we've deiced to upgrade both our properties, hence expectations delivered!  Unfortunately, schedule coordination with the 1st manager was poor and sour, hence moved to a different one turned sweet. Hubby is happy with our master bathroom-shower upgrade as well as our new tenants at our rental property with their new bathtub.  Special thanks and shout out to Ahmed for his extreme hard- work (alone). I would leave zero stars if possible. The service and follow through of this company is NEGLIGENT at BEST. Short version: We needed them redo a shower in our rental property. I got a quote back in October 2018- they weren't able to start work until December. December 12th the job should have been completed. It is now MARCH 16th and this job is STILL not compete. If you'd like the long version, read on. On December 11th they installed the shower, however the shower door did not fit. The proper door was supposedly ordered that day, but would not be ready until Dec 24th. We followed up a few times in December, but at their request, l waited until after the holidays for an install date. Come January 2nd I had not heard anything and I followed up, yet again. I spoke to their manager Tony, who informed me the door- which supposedly would have been ready Dec. 24- had not even been ordered! So they ordered the door, which would be available Jan 7th. At this point I also submitted a complaint the their national headquarters. On Jan. 7th I had to call them to confirm the door had come in, they came to install the door the 8th, finally. Our tenants use the shower and notice the door is leaking. It's a problem. So Bathfitters came back, attempt to re-adjust it, which did not work. They took the door off, all the hardware and didn't even put up a shower rod for a curtain. The taking down of the hardware was an additional problem because the next time they came to put up yet another door- there was no hardware to attach it to. They had to order the hardware again as well. After attempting to fix the leak- Bathfitters decided to order another door because the adjustments weren't working. At this point the job should have been finished end of February. I get a phone call about billing, and low and behold Bathfitters doesn't even know the job is still unfinished!! Total nightmare. Nice tub and shower. I found this company from a guy at the local farmers market. I didn't really shop around. After the free estimate meeting I decided that I liked what I saw and I wanted them to do my tub/shower. And I only have one bathroom so the one day installation was a huge factor in my decision. The sales team I delt with were professional and friendly. They answered my questions and gave me time to think about my decision without a lot of pressure. The morning of the scheduled installation, I got a call at 0730 saying that the installer was injured and they would have to reschedule. I wasn't too happy about this but they threw in a soap dish which I hadn't ordered to make me happy. It wasn't much, but considering they didn't have to give me anything, I was OK with it. Installation day came and the installer showed up ready to work. He worked like a worker bee. He was done by 2:00 in the afternoon. The tub and shower looks great. I feel that the finished product is decent quality and it seems like it will hold up over time. Overall, I like the new tub and shower. I think the price was a little high. If you are going to do an insert this is definitely on the high end, but if you spend less money for another type of insert style tub and shower job, I don't think it would look as nice as this. If you have other bathrooms in the home (which I don't) perhaps it would be worth it to you to spend all that money on traditional construction and not use that bathroom for a few weeks. Was so excited to get my new tub was so pissed off it was the wrong tube horrible quality control as soon as I called they saw it was the wrong tub does anyone look at the order and look at the tub before they go out to my house which again they went to the wrong address and I had called and made sure they had the correct address as the appt. e-mail again showed the wrong address. Didn't show up for sales appointment. You have 1 job, to be on time, whether scheduled install or scheduled estimate. If you can't make it to your scheduled appointments, what else are you short cutting? Customer service starts from the first call. I originally scheduled this appointment during the day, but the rep specifically requested that we move it later in the day. I obliged, only to find out that you do not honor your appointments. So I am happy to say it went better than expected let's break it down Designer/Sales/Estimates Stacey arrived on time and prepared for the presentation. She answered all of our questions and shared some good ideas to help us choose the right design and colors/styles/textures. The estimate process was low pressure which actually surprised me since my first experience with Re-Bath was totally uncomfortable. Let's be honest and say its not the cheapest but as I continue to describe what happened, you will know I came to the conclusion it was all worth it ! Office and Communications prior to install Leading up to the install, communications were detailed and they were quick to reply each and every time I had a question. We set the date for install and everything fell into place on that exact date. I appreciated the confirmation of time and the names of my team who would be present for the install..that was a nice reassuring touch. Installers They were on it the minute they arrived. In all we had four installers over the course of the install including John, the supervisor..Very pleased to see the commitment level of this company to the project. Sean and Joe (the primary installers) could not be any nicer, more efficient and very friendly. They answered the few questions I had during the installation process and made sure we were informed along the way We had one small issue with the sizing of the shower door. When they installed the shower they had to compensate for something that was done years ago. It did not faze them and Joe gave me an estimate of when the parts would arrive and be installed. Jennifer confirmed delivery and installation of the final piece twice and on monday EVERYTHING was completed on time and as promised The install was done on time, as described and very clean inside and out . We have yet to use our new shower unit as installation has just been completed, but we just had to drop everything and make sure we expressed how happy we are with the results of our bathroom remodel! Your sales representative was very helpful with our choices for replacing our tub/shower unit with a beautiful replacement shower, and he booked the installation as soon as possible after seeing our desperate situation with tiles falling down. We also can't say enough about your wonderful installer! He was respectful enough to call ahead of time and to recheck some changes we made. He arrived promptly and didn't waste any time tackling the job at hand! In no time, he had the old tiles taken down, tub split up, and everything hauled out. In just a few hours, our beautiful brand new shower unit was created, and what a difference it's made. The bathroom looks much larger and more contemporary! James IS A STAR! I had a bathtub shower replaced with a barrier free shower for my father, who is disabled. We contacted a few different companies, and we decided to go with Bath Fitter. Jim, (the sales rep) was helpful and did not pressure us. Bryce, (the installer) was a very knowledgeable and efficient worker. I do agree with some of the comments that are critical of the communication issues. I did have difficulty contacting someone in the office, and when I brought this up to the person I talked to, he said they were busy and short staffed. Bath Fitter definitely needs to work on the office communication issue. Other than that, the shower turned out very nice and my father is happy with it. Overall high marks for Jim and Bryce, but the office communication needs to be improved. read more

I would not recommend using this company. We have been without a shower for two weeks now due to Bath Fitter not having the correct supplies and rescheduling the work. We are currently without a shower and the company has offered no date of completion or resolution. This is totally unacceptable. The company appears to be severely understaffed. I'm adding another star to review only because the shower surround and shelves did turn out nice after their expert installer fixed the mess and finished the job. Two years later, the caulking job still looks good and the material hasn't discolored or worn out. It is easy to keep clean. I had Bath Fitter install a tub/shower at the end of August. A few days ago, the bathtub floor felt pretty "cushy" I figured it was just settling and didn't think much more about it. Later that day, I heard water running and figured it was the neighbor next door as I live in a condo. The next day, the same thing. I went and turned off the main water and it stopped. Now I'm panicking because I've read all these reviews and thought it would never get fixed and in the meantime we're shutting the main water off between showering, dishes, washing, brushing our teeth and using the bathroom. I called first thing this morning and Derek said he could have someone here between noon and 3. Well at 10:00 am, the technician, whose name slips by me, was here and the trouble solved. He did have to cut the wall behind the shower which he says I will be contacted to schedule repair. Fingers crossed. I just want to say I'm impressed by how quickly this was resolved. Beyond angry! It's 11:30 and I have to get up at 0500...the plumber we HAD to hire is still working in our only bathroom. Why???? BECAUSE THE BATHFITTER "professional" didn't know wtf he is doing! I used Bathfitter years ago when I lived in Sacramento and they were GREAT! I believe it's a franchise, so each location is different. THIS LOCATION is below par for what is charged! DO NOT USE THEM! Bath Fitter ("of San Jose" then) worked on two bathrooms at home in 2012. Years after, they've come out two or three times to take care of issues with leaks, fixtures, or light carpentry work that they covered under warranty. I appreciate that they honor what the sales contract stated. read more

I don't write many reviews but felt it was necessary to write this one so that other would- be customers can be fairly warned. This company is as close to a bait and switch scam as you can get. They pride themselves on, and base their advertising on, the promise of a one day install of a new shower and/or bath. Unfortunately, this is far from my experience as possible. On May 12th, the installer arrived at my home. Nice enough guy and was very professional. However, upon the installation of the tub liner, he calls me to inspect it. He points out that the liner was incorrectly measured and is not touching the floor and is actually bowing out some. He says he cannot install it and someone will call me to set up a new measurement appointment. I'm a patient person and understand that there are human errors that will occur so I actually was not very upset at this point. But that's where my patience ran out. After being told someone would call me the next day and not hearing back, I waited 2 days before I called Bath Fitter. I spoke to Tina who apologized and said someone would call me back to set up the appt. Again... No call. 3 weeks later... I'm still waiting. I called them today and left messages for Tina and Katrina. We will see if this gets resolved today. If so, I will update my review. Until then, please stay away from Bath Fitters. It hasn't been worth the time and definitely not worth the expense. My one day install has turned into a 1 month delay with no end in sight. read more
