Pretty Cool Sport! Like A Cooler Version Of Darts With A Hatchet! I wasn't sure what I would think about this when I went to do this, but was greeted by friendly staff all the way through. I am bad with names but Alexis was the girl who gave me the intro and got me started. The manager and the beard ax throwing guy were also great. I told you I am bad with names! I found out I cannot throw the hatchet with 2 hands to save my life, but with 1 hand I can destroy things! The establishment was clean and uncluttered, except by the crowd of people which is good. Had such a blast! We came here with a large group of 20-25 and they took great care of us. The competition format for such a large group was handled well (tech-enabled, which was a surprise), with plenty of action for each person. Great bar selection for some drinks in between turns. If you're on the edge of doing this... do it! Our company rented a handful of lanes and gave us an open tab... how can you not have fun? I'd never done it before, but quickly caught on, as did most everyone and had an absolute blast. We had 3 instructors who gave clear, concise tutorials on how to throw the ax and actively provided feedback after throwing to get ax's to stick. They did a great job and kept it light despite throwing deadly objects while drinking alcohol. they kept the score, kept us moving and did it without intruding on our work related conversations and banter. Again.. they were awesome. you can order in food from some vendors they work with You can also partake in a bunch of beers, a handful on tap, and some wines. They even have white claw for the manly men or women who don't mind drinking a claw whilst tossing ax's. Overall a great experience.. would recommend to anyone of any abilities. read more

THIS PLACE WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! My friend and I went and it was our first time and the staff teach you how to properly throw the axes and I appreciated how they didn't start our countdown (we paid for an hour) until after we learned how to throw them properly so we really got a full hours worth. Absolute best surprise date night! My boyfriend scheduled a surprise double date for us. He said we needed closed toed shoes and it's something we've never done before. So I'm racking my brain. Boy, I can't tell you how excited I was when we arrived!! We had a 5pm reservation on a Friday night and got checked in right away. Noodle was an amazing instructor. She showed us exactly how to hold the axe, how to throw and most importantly, the follow through. If one of us was struggling with something, she was able to figure out exactly what it was through her knowledge and expertise of the sport. After some practice, we battled it out in rounds and then it boiled down to championship playoffs among the four in our team. It took a few minutes for someone to assist us, but once they did, the instructor helped us for a few minutes and then let us throw on our own. It's so fun and such good exercise!! We had an amazing time at Batl. Our ages ranged from 16 to 65 but we all were able to participate and had fun. The set-up is welcoming and safe. Ryan and Ken made sure we knew how to use the axes and knives appropriately and came by from time to time to give us extra tips on how to do better. Wasn't the worst experience ever. Got invited by some friends. Insanely expensive per person, paid approx $34 per person, per hour. Twenty minutes of the mentioned hour was training, and despite having 7 people, we were only given 2 axes, and 2 lanes, despite almost every other lane being open, the whole time. So, most of the time we paid for, we were just waiting for our turn to throw. I will say, they had a huge selection of canned beer. Would've been amazing, If the 12oz cans weren't $7 each. I understand Scottsdale can be expensive, but if I'm spending that much, I'd much rather burn my money any other way. If you got throw away money, this place can be fun, but for the average consumer, your money is better spent elsewhere. read more

Took my girlfriend here on a date and HOOOOLY SHIT we will be back again. We were lucky it was pretty slow when we came on a Saturday afternoon, so we were able to get a lot of range time during the hour that we paid for. Our instructor, Cheryl, was able to give us simple instructions and get us sinking axes into the target in no time. They do have a kitchen and bar, as well as a byob policy, which we did not take advantage of (this time), but that could definitely make things fun, especially with a larger group. It was our first time throwing axes and found it quite cathartic, and even walked out a little tired and sweaty. Heads up: the more stressed or angry you walk in here, the more your lats will hurt the next day as you recover. totally worth it though. read more

My boyfriend and I bought a Groupon to try this for the first time. We came between 12-3pm on a Saturday where they have walk-ins for our Groupon voucher to be redeemed. We got to spend 1.5 hours learning to perfect our aim and activity. I think that's really generous for our Groupon! The lady helping us throughout the stay was super friendly and nice. She taught us how to throw properly with one and two hands, games to play among your group, techniques, and how to throw the big firemen axe! Arms are definitely sore after this, but well worth it and would love to return with friends to have a friendly competition :) also there's a bar with food and ample seating, pool table, and lots of space for events.
